I relisten to it in moments of stress. It’s good

I don’t think you’re unusually pathetic bro. Your response is what it is. It doesn’t need to define your attitude twenty minutes from now or even tomorrow. Highly recommend listening to the Power of Now.

Mate you need a therapist, a gym membership and a divorce. I hate to be so flippant, but your story feels too similar to mine. I couldn’t bring myself to take action but afterwards I wish I had. There is no coming back from her affair. And don’t blame yourself or be ashamed. It reflects her choices and nothing more. Be glad you can now spend tomorrow and the next day moving on, and try not to make sense of it all or seek closure. You’re unlikely to get closure from her or an apology that satisfi…

Thanks Man. Seems like the pinned post is the only general advice we are gonna find. Oh well. I am reasonably confident that my current relationship is good/healthy.

Counseling is unlikely to save your marriage but it won’t hurt. Whatever happens, get your own therapist, go for a year minimum, focus on sleep health and crush it at work. Be kind. Oh and for some of us we respond well from going to the gym 6 days a week. Your call.

Sorry man. Sounds a bit more painful than the ending of my marriage. Keep your head up.

Don't waster your time. And this didn't happen to you. It happened for you. This is the data/info you needed to remove yourself from the relationship and truly move on. When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

Ideally you two would have had your feet underneath you as individuals before you married. If it was possible to pursue individual goals/dreams while staying together I would suggest trying to stay together, but I have the feeling that it is best to part ways. Perhaps postpone the divorce and just file for legal separation. Better talk to an attorney. Good luck man - but no matter what, you'll be alright. Believe it; it's true.

Sounds like you're still in a lot of pain, and feeeling the way a lot of us have after our divorce. I don't know all the details, but hopefully you can accept your current situation and not beat yourself up about the past. Whatever it was before, it is no longer. This is your opportunity to build a new better future. You're better off now, one day you'll realize it.

My sympathies brother. I can relate. The aha moment may come and then fade, so like some of the other responders, rinse and repeat as needed going forward. Sounds like you admired your ex, and so it will be inherently difficult for your feelings to exceed that with a new partner, even if we all think she is better than your ex. I'd accept that reality and just appreciate the future partner as they are. Be in the now. Moving to a new city sounds adventerous and appealing to me (someone that has y…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
