Looking for general guidance on how to be confident that it’s safe to date someone EXCLUSIVELY again. Sometimes I don’t trust my judgement and could use a “divorced and dating guru.”
Personal Background: According to friends, I’m a serial monogamist. I’ve dated a woman exclusively twice since my June 2022 divorce. (Amicable divorce filed together, no attorneys, no alimony or child support, I wasn’t the best husband at times, but I caught her cheating and got gaslit while trying to discover everything- so a little PTSD haunts me still).
I have half-time custody of three great kids, 9, 12 and 15. I’m busy with them, sometimes on days that they aren’t staying with me. I work from home. Stable 8-5 job/career. I workout daily, sometimes two-a days. I’ve been to lots of therapy. Same cognitive behavioral therapist since 2017. Lately not that frequently.
I’m in that second exclusive relationship now and after 5 months wondering if I’m actually not ready. Maybe the mere thought is a red flag.
Just provided background for context, please try and just comment on general “readiness” guidelines and I will consider how I fit into that.
I didn’t originally notice the post on waiting a year - great advice BTW. But its been over a year now of course…
