Well if I'm going with your metaphor I'd say that I've already driven on the highway plenty of times and it didn't go well. In other words, I'm not assuming something will happen without having tried it in the first place, because I've had the experience already. So it's not out of blind assumption. And I'd say I've gotten enough feedback to come to the conclusion that, maybe girls just don't like me. Maybe I'm just not desirable. That's about where I'm at and it's just time to move on from it. …

"As a man it's your job to lead the interaction, and lead towards romantic and sexual territory if you don't want to get friendzone". I can definitely understand this, but in my experience, it's a recipe for disaster. That's something I've never been really good at at all. In my mind, if I go that route, I will guarantee a quick rejection.

Ok but you have to remember... I don't actually know they are taken when I meet them in the first place.

Woh now, I'm not saying I want her to carry the conversation, I just would like her to at least participate. Like even 60% me and 40% her you know? cuz if I'm forced to carry the conversation, I'm going to assume she's not into me at all and I'm going to move on.

I wish that second part was true for me😆. In my case the only part that's true is the avoiding and ignoring.

I mean If I know they're taken I don't double down and try harder.

Seems better than that "assume attraction" advice I've seen online. Not that I've followed that.

That could be true if I already knew beforehand, but I don't see how that can be true if I'm not sure of their relationship status right when I meet them. I never said I knew they were taken from the moment I met them.

Ok but how is it assuming when it's actually true though? This is based off of my experience throughout my life. I didn't assume this to be true at first, I just happen to find out these girls were taken every single time, so logically, what else am I supposed to think?

Absolutely I know. They either casually mention it later on or I find out later. And I swear it's every... Single... Time.

Well it's definitely frustrating. Because nowadays, if a girl is ever nice to me or shows any "cliche" sign that she might be into me, I automatically assume that she's taken.

Damn. Do they pretend to like someone for kicks and giggles?

When I asked her out i didn't mention the word date. It was more of hanging out/doing something sometime. But I understand

I see. Well I don't think I was moving too fast. I was talking to her for quite a bit before I asked.

Lol whatever. 😆 I'll probably do it later today

This was after a while of having short conversations. She's a girl at work but doesn't work in the same area. She even suggested doing something that i happen to do regularly on my own. (Maybe I should post the whole story🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️)

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
