I really appreciate this thoughtful answer. We meet freshman year in college and I have since graduated last year. I am aware that I desire closeness in my friendships and I now understand that eagerness can attract people who take advantage. Since my early college days, I’m working on making sure my desire for friends doesn’t override my boundaries and what I feel comfortable with in my friendships.
