Going through a similar exercise, my lawyer recommended not to buy anything till atleast the separation agreement is signed by both parties but I am delaying it till my divorce is final to be on the safe side. Dont rush it because while the market might be down 10-20%, you’d be risking 50% of the house on that. PS: This recommendation was before she filed in court. We were in the middle of talking out the terms of a separation agreement.

Staying in the same house with your STBX is highly risky - atleast emotionally but can also be create unnecessary legal problems. Keep your GUARD UP ALL THE TIME. Ideally you’d want all of such interactions video recorded on you side to prove you aren’t pulled for legal glitches.

I am a positive thinker (although I’ve suffered for it but would still want to stay one). I do like the concept of family and the bond it creates with each member of the family. Also because there will be moments in every marriage that would create negativity but it is because of the marriage and the costs of it that a person thinks a 100 times before getting out of it and it should stay that way. Unmarried couples are much more likely to separate over smaller things and nobody would care then. …

I have a similar situation (3 years into marriage with no kids), I paid for the downpayment 80:20 (I paid 80) and we paid EMIs equally. She is on the title though. Should I fight for it or agree to 50:50?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
