It's more effort to be sassy than to be just plain informative. I get the resentment, I'm fucking pissed as well. I've been active in the movement for like a decade now and it's really just getting kneecapped by bad actors on every turn. Feminism has done a piss poor job of freeing men from gender roles and change is slow to come. But we must perservere. I've already managed to change my local male environment to be more emotionally available and supportive. Being cold and dismissive is a self f…

Being aware of your bias is already a huge step to fixing the issue! You don't need to be nice to men in general, if they suck they suck. Your first reaction definitely comes from social conditioning, but worry not, everyone is subjected to that and tons of people go on their entire lives without ever questioning it. What you do after that initial reaction is what defines you. Subconcious bias is trained throughout our lifetimes and can never be fully unlearned in my opinion. The only thing you …

That does not justify firing a gun, which is a tool designed for killing people. Even someone harassing you does not justify a death penalty, and this guy just wanted some sleep

If you belong in an oppressed category as it is defined by intersectionals your grievances are valid, as long as the grievances relate to your "marginalized" identity. Grievances that relate to being a man are still considered whining, of course

I cannot imagine how horrible that must be, very sorry to hear that :( This too shall pass, and so will you one day

Good for you, stay true to yourself! Create the environment that you need, and be patient with yourself. You deserve love and compassion

Nobody gets to choose their gender. You're making it sound like they made a poor decision, when in fact they haven't decided at all. Gender dysphoria is real, and it's brutal on your mental health.

I was talking about excessive and misplaced competitiveness, implying that there is such a thing as healthy competitiveness. Im already agreeing with you
/r/MensRights12/09/22 10:02 AM

Competitiveness is misplaced in a cooperative environment. Think of crabs in a bucket. When you degrade somebodys success, even when you benefit from it. When you refuse to cooperate because you're too ego-focused. The male tendency to refuse help sometimes stems from this perspective, and its detrimental to yourself and your environment.

Stoicism is based AF, and I'm grateful that I can control my emotions. It becomes harmful when its compulsive and you suppress all of your emotions. That's what lead me to self loathing and depression. Every emotion has a function and needs to be adressed, sooner or later.

Excessive stoicism and useless competitiveness are things that come to mind when i hear unhealthy masculinity. Male gender roles and expectations aint perfect, just like femininity isn't perfect. Nothing in this universe is perfect, and its silly to assume that something could be

The most manly thing you can do is defy all social expectation by unapologetically 100% being your truest self. There's nothing more alpha than standing up for yourself. Those who will put you down for who you are can suck a fat one, you don't need that garbage in your life. Why would you care about people that clearly don't care about you? Practice self love, practice listening to your desires and feelings, and the biggest one: practice self acceptance. You are deserving of love the way you are…

I'm not putting down the MRA movement, i whole heartedly support it. I'm trying to animate people here to actually engage with feminists, despite the countless shortcomings of the movement. I believe most of them are good people at heart who want to stand up to systemic injustice, but many of their minds and hearts have been poisoned by totalitarian dogma. Most are oblivious to the struggles of men as a class, and the right piece of information has the potential to plant a seed of doubt in their…

I would love to, but I cant, because im just one dude. I dont have control over all feminists. There isnt an overarching feminist institution that governs all feminist thought, its thousands upon thousanda of local movements. Ive already loosened the plank in my local feminist group, and I feel like I have changed more minds than i did in the decade that i was active as an MRA. I dont need to explain to anyone on this subreddit that men are being systemically mutilated, murdered, neglected, vill…

I'm a huge fan of Karen and the honey badgers, so everything you just posted is information I already had. I don't make excuses for toxic feminists, I stand up to them. I'm a feminist and I say that. The feminists in my life would agree as well. But mainstream academic feminism has thoroughly neglected this issue, and for that I am sorry. It feels like feminism has become more open to mens rights issues in the last decade. Keep talking about it and keep pushing! And keep in mind that not every feminist is a misandrist. Demonizing all feminists leads to the same ingroup/outgroup tribal mentality thats so destructive to conversations and growth within feminism
/r/MensRights28/08/22 10:35 AM

Youre still projecting, i am thoroughly reading and understanding everything you type. You assume sex trafficking would be public, which it aint. There have been many confirmed cases of sex trafficking all over the world and just blanket stating that it doesnt happen because it is illegal is both wrong and stupid, as you have resorted to calling me. Never assume your perspective is infallible. You have been quite hostile for seemingly no reason
/r/MensRights22/08/22 09:06 PM
1

No, I critically engaged with what they were saying. Your arguments didnt land with me, especially the "sex trafficking doesnt happen because its illegal" argument. Youre making a lot of assumptions in your post without even realizing it. Stop projecting and treat your conversation partners like they have something valuable to say

They said "women are nothing more than sexually mature children". Ive been here for quite some time and its one of the most sexist things ive read so far. Cant fucking believe people are defending them. Disappointed in my fellow MRAs

Oh interesting! Then I also have a factual generalization: MRAs dont see women as individual humans with lives and aspirations, but as "sexually mature children", as the person you are currently defending stated

Very sorry that you have to deal with people being terrible, honestly. There's tons of outspoken mysogynists on this sub, and it tires and saddens me. These men have just grown bitter and resentful due to the lack of affection, empathy and humanization many, many men experience due to a multitude of reasons. The paranoia about women taking money might come from the patriarchal norms that expect men to be providers, payers of bills and so on. There is an unfortunate amount of women that feel enti…

Attributing traits of individuals to all members of a group is literally the definition of bigotry, but go off I guess
/r/MensRights24/07/22 09:43 PM

This community sucks at times, but I wont give up on men. That would include giving up on myself. This is one of the few places on the internet where real issues are discussed, trauma is shared and I feel humanised and seen. It truly pains me that so many men have grown bitter to the point of bigotry, but I dont resent them. I just feel sorry :(

/r/MensRights24/07/22 07:43 PM

I see, but I am willing to forgive them for their past transgressions if they stay civil. Considering people tainted forever, never allowing them to grow is what's wrong with cancel culture. Additionally I personally want to be the bigger person in that kind of situation and show feminists that we are willing to have a civil conversation. Not just the ones who post, but also the ones who lurk. This community is very hostile towards feminists, and with good reason, as they have torpedoed MRA effo…

They're not a troll, they're an honest person trying to educate themselves on mens rights and i really commend her for that. Stop the fucking ingroup/outgroup thinking. Just because they posted in 2x at some point doesnt mean they are a troll, just like them posting here does not mean they're an "incel" or whatever. And they keep quiet about it to avoid getting into an argument with feminists. Are you sure this is the case? Most people don't even know why feminism poses a problem. If people were actually aware of the demonisation and hate mogering going on the mainstream feminist shaming tactics wouldn't work.
