The people inside the community make it look like shit so people assume it must be shit. If it quacks like a duck...

I'm still wondering about this part, maybe OP missed it because I put it under automod: The restaurant industry is in trouble What trouble, specifically, is the restaurant industry in? In my neck of the woods we're facing rising wages, rents, and gentrification, but those are hardly under PPD's purview. How is the restaurant industry related to everything else you said?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/20 12:58 PM

The restaurant industry is in trouble. Wait. What? Can you expand on this particular claim?

Exactly this. Until there is an explicit monogamous boundary set the expectation should be non-monogamy. Dating is the precursor to a relationship and it's entirely reasonable for someone to be dating multiple people concurrently in search of the relationship that fits them.

Of course men have power, they're agents of their own free will. Set your own boundaries and expectations and how flexible they are. If you set low expectations you'll often find that people live down to them.

I'm 30 and most women I'm interested in nowadays are not "like this". I, also, would like to have a partner, but I want a partner and a woman who is "like this" ain't it, chief.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/19 12:16 PM

Vet. Your. Partners. Any woman who recoils from you when you're vulnerable is not a woman worth having as a partner and if she leaves then it's ultimately a good thing. In addition to that, if you don't trust them to support or accept you for that moment of weakness then why would you want them as your partner anyway?

I don't know what argument you're making. It seems to me you're saying "women complain about toxic masculinity but reward positive masculinity." Well, yeah, that's how it should be.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/12/19 02:40 AM

Exactly. The Red Pill seemingly thinks "feminine" is synonymous with "childlike". I want to date an adult first and foremost.

A woman's personality is a HUGE factor in my attraction to them. Like, sure, if I'm just trying to bag a ONS it's not a massive priority, but if it's someone I plan to see again once the sun is up then whether I actually like them or not is pretty damn important. I've hooked up with a few women who are... not very attractive because they were fun (and so was the sex).
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/19 11:25 AM

Anyone who wants to fuck another person, but simultaneously shames or looks down on them for having sex is starting off on the wrong foot to begin with. You're judging them for the exact act you want them to commit!

Men who complain about shit like this are simps and losers. CMV.

Except the "emotional labor" was thinking your partners were gross for having sex with other people which isn't polyamory.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/19 10:04 PM
1

And I'm telling you it doesn't sound like you were ever actually poly. If you're judging your partners for having sex with other people then you weren't poly. Polyamory's whole... thing is that you aren't their only partner. Also, there's nothing inherent to polyamory that makes you an emotional tampon. This sounds like a 'you' problem. You chose poor partners and then let them treat you poorly. Now you've projected that behavior to an entire gender.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/12/19 09:15 PM

I don't know what that has to do with my previous comment.

I just don't believe this is anything other than confirmation bias or rose tinted glasses. I went to a Magnet high school and even among the nerds you could see these trends. Hot nerds dated other hot nerds. Funny nerds were popular. Charismatic nerds were popular. Socially inept nerds were ostracized to their weird little cliques.

Especially if they're the type of person to hold particular opinions only because everyone else does. This is a big thing for me. They should be able to explain the beliefs they hold in their own voice. If it's something they feel strongly about, they should be able to defend it without sounding like they're parroting talking points.

Depends on the kind of intelligence. I mean, I certainly don't want to date a knuckle-dragging mouth breather, but they don't need to be a literal rocket scientist or neurosurgeon. I tend to be really attracted to women who complement me, not ones that are the same as me. They need to be able to form and defend their own opinions while not being threatened by disagreement, they should have passion for something and not get discouraged if that passion isn't shared. I used to date an interior designer and when we moved in together she did about 90% of the decorating. I had some accent pieces for my hobbies and interests, but she picked all the furniture and colors/paint. I had a space to work on my bikes/quadcopters and the place looked way better for when guests came over and was more comfortable, too. Win/win in my book.

Any person that seems to need to build themselves up by putting others down would be a huge red flag to me. I want to date a woman who is confident in her worth without having to compare it to others. If she wants traditional values, that's cool, but the problem starts when she villifies people who don't. You're allowed to have opinions and preferences -and we can absolutely disagree on a lot of things- but I want to be with someone else who's happy, or fuck even unhappy, by their own measure.

It's because their pro-life beliefs don't exist in a vacuum. Many pro-lifers have concurrent beliefs that are seemingly meant to punish women for having sex.

One of the guys I work with is like some Jersey Shore caricature of a person who I'd absolutely call a slut. He's in a 5+ year "committed" relationship but picks up chicks at the club all the time and his type seems to be "can fog a mirror".

Just because it's an insult doesn't make it irrelevant. A virgin's opinion on sex isn't nearly as informed or informative as someone's who has actually had sex. Calling someone ignorant might be an insult, but that doesn't stop the label from being accurate.

Sexual experience is relevant when the topic is experiences with sex.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/05/19 12:28 AM

At least not by the government. The government has an interest in teaching kids how to safely have sex and the consequences of sex, it has no place actually telling those kids how to go about getting sex. That job belongs to your parents, peers, and personal observation.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/05/19 01:18 AM
1

Adult, sexual relationships should not really be compared that closely to parent/child ones, IMO (unless they're like super unhealthy). Parents, ideally, are raising their children to be competent adults; it's not a shit test, it's a lesson. Nagging from your SO is not the same thing as nagging from a parent. Your SO expects you to already be an adult, they don't want to teach you to be one.

The saddest thing about that is that the men who believe that at MRP should have figured that out before they got married. Is it really that surprising that if you act like a doormat you'll be treated as one? A corollary: men that have boundaries --and enforce them-- wouldn't end up with a woman that actively disregards them. A man that "handles his shit" has nothing to be nagged about and if he's got his shit handled and is still getting nagged then he should next that hoe.

Being considered a feminist despite actively standing against feminists/feminism seems like the opposite of gatekeeping.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/19 07:42 AM
2

Who says I'm not one? And, again, why are you expecting feminists to write about positive masculinity? That they acknowledge it's existence doesn't mean it's a focus or concern of the movement. I'm sure many feminists will agree that the Honda Accord exists, but they're not out there writing technical manuals for it, either.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/04/19 02:14 AM

Why would there be feminist literature on positive masculinity? That's kind of outside the purview of the movement/ideology. Why do you expect feminists to write this literature?

Wallowing in your shitty station in life and doing nothing to improve it is pointless, unhealthy, unproductive, and self-reinforcing. Sure you're ugly, but right now you're ugly and weird. One of those things is fixable, and the other can be mitigated.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/19 11:34 AM

If you're an autistic, eugenics-focused weirdo it doesn't matter what you look like. You could be the hottest man on the planet and still not pull. Looks matter, but they are not the end-all, be-all. Self-defeating garbage like lookism is far more detrimental than simply being ugly. "I've tried nothing and I'm all out of ideas" is not a good look on anyone.

"But toxic femininity" almost always derails a conversation on toxic masculinity because it actually derails the conversation. I've had conversations about toxic femininity that didn't devolve into shouting matches but I also don't wield the topic as some sort of what-aboutism bludgeon.

Toxic humanity is much more accurate "Toxic humanity" doesn't make any sense when there are different pressures and expectations put on the different genders. The pressures are specific to the genders so of course we have words and concepts specific to those genders as well.

"Subtle" is easily misinterpreted. Friendly is not far from flirting. And since guys are usually expected to initiate misreading a sign that wasn't actually there can tank an otherwise friendly relationship. You're just using a different word, but the argument remains the same. What someone considers faithful is for them to decide. Even if we do agree that it's infidelity, if no one in the relationship cares then what actual difference does it make? It's a useless distinction. Lots of people think gays are sinners, lots of gays are atheists. To those atheist gays the "fact" they're sinners means functionally nothing.

Exactly this. Cheating is defined by those who are in the relationship. I mean, swingers exist and they obviously don't believe it's cheating. You and I don't get to decide what's cheating for other people.

That's just not my experience here. The active, outdoorsy women get short undercuts because they breath better and weigh less. Pixie cuts are super popular in the alt scenes. French bobs are super cute on bookish, nerdy hipsters. Gay women often get what are essentially short, men's cuts.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/19 11:15 PM

That's... a bit of a stretch. And also counter to what a lot of actual women in this thread are saying.

How? How is the way women style their hair toxic femininity?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/19 09:27 PM
13

Guess it depends on where you live and the crowd you hang out with. I live in Denver and, especially over the summer, pixie and undercuts are super popular. Hipsters, lesbians, punk/metal/alt chicks all rock short haircuts of one kind or another. Even a lot of the professional women wear only shoulder length cuts. When I lived in the South about ten years ago those cuts weren't nearly as popular.

It is egalitarianism, just from the perspective that women aren't equal. Just like the Civil Rights movement was for equality despite having nothing to do with white rights.

Words have meaning. Different words mean different things. MGTOWs are not just bachelors. Just like incels aren't just people who haven't had sex in the last 6 months. Those distinctions are important. Someone with that level of vitriol and the need to label themselves is not making the same decisions for the same reasons.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/01/19 09:13 PM

We already have a word to describe the latter: bachelor. MGTOW, in my mind, is defined by that self-identification and bitterness.

Track sprinters at the pro level have thighs larger than my torso. That said, even your local Cat 1s and 2s are going to be pretty muscular. They're not going to look like a bodybuilder, obviously, but you'd never look at one of those guys and think, "he must not be very fit."

There are a littany of hobbies outside of the gym that build muscle. When I raced BMX my arms, legs, and back were well toned without being ultra defined or huge and I didn't have any semblance of a six pack. You don't have to be a gym rat or do physical labor to be reasonably in shape.

Depends on the stranger, really. Some corporate bigwig touring the office is going to be met with far different standards than a cracked out homeless person on the street. A woman I've gone on a few dates with and didn't feel a connection with isn't going to extract much more, or any, of my attention, time, or effort.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/19 07:51 AM

No one owes you that response, especially relative strangers, and no answer is still an answer. That you can't parse the response isn't my problem. You don't get a participation trophy.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/19 07:44 AM

Why are we assuming it hurts someone? You've gone on a few dates, you're not married. You don't even owe them the "brief, honest goodbye". And if it hurts you that someone ghosted you that's your responsibility, not the other party's. You are responsible for your emotional state.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/01/19 07:33 AM

"Well adjusted" and "moral standards" only mean anything in context. Two centuries ago slavery was pretty accepted, one century ago it was a debate over whether women should be able to vote, only in the last decade or so have we allowed gay people to marry. What's "well adjusted" and "standard" changes. What was wrong then isn't necessarily wrong now.

the second paragraph describes something more reasonable I've never experienced anything different. Granted, but that is the theory behind it yeah? That the mere coincidence of the time you're born affects your entire life and your personality? Sounds like bollocks to me. Astrology was invented by people who didn't know why rain happened. How is that not an issue in almost all personality testing? Astrology isn't a test, though. Instead of comparing Astrology and MBTI seriously and conbcluding that one is less accurate than the other is rather scant praise, isn'it? One is voodoo nonsense.

If you can't rely on your looks then you should probably build something else attractive about you and go places where that is the focus instead of your looks. Stop cold approaching women in bars and build some familiarity with them on teams/clubs over a common interest.

Wasn't it Orrin Hatch that was quoted saying that Obama would never nominate a centrist like Garland who would be totally accepted by Republicans? Only to turn around and stonewall Garland's confirmation for over a year? Seems to me the last Democrat nominated judge was gift wrapped and a rather un-partisan effort.

I meant the passivity of doing an activity with meeting an SO as a byproduct rather than the goal. Again, it's only passive if you are. Chemist wasn't saying "go loiter around these groups and the women there will fall all over you" she was saying "if you want to find certain kinds of women you have to go where they congregate". All she's telling you is where they are, not how to pick them up. It's arguably a waste of time if you arent all that interested in the activity. Duh. Was the fact that …

And I think the passivity associated with "join a debate club and maybe you'll meet someone" is kind of non-advice when you're looking to find an SO. It's only passive if you're passive. You can't just show up to the meetings, sit silently in the back, and have someone fall in love with you. You have to engage and you have to be engaged, you have to participate. You have to be active.

I don't think it's society's job to teach you a deeper meaning of love, it's your parents'. Society is always going to go the easy, superficial route. Someone with that many partners would probably be in a fairly active swingers scene. Bang 5 to 10 people a weekend, or even once a month, and it adds up pretty quick. I doubt anyone serially dating, spinning plates, or taking home ONSs could rack up a body count like that.

/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/18 02:51 AM

You group behavior based on sex. Gender norms are the collection of characteristics, beliefs, and ideas about what it is to "be a man" or to "be a woman". This is necessarily gendered. It is a sociological concept, so it is also necessarily based on groups.

This gets worse if they have different work schedules or are in school.

Glorification of violence, disdain for education, drug abuse, extreme insularity and in-group/out-group thinking, materialism. Starting a bar brawl isn't a good example... Men often start fights because they are taught to be aggressive, to mate guard, to not back down, that masculinity has to be earned through some trial by fire. These are aspects of masculinity, the social expectations and ideas of what it is to "be a man". A moderate dose of them is healthy. Arrogance, domineering, etc. are traits that women are just as able to display. Do you agree that aggression is part of masculinity? Confidence? Self-reliance? Bars, and sometimes clubs, are social venues. People go there to be social. You can have an engaging conversation/connection with people you meet at the bar. If you take someone home from the club after grinding on them all night there's plenty of time to talk to them before/after fucking them. And if it turns out you like fucking each other you might agree to meet again and do something other than go to the club.

That feminists do and believe things do not make those individual actions and beliefs an inherent part of feminism itself. Think of it this way: you have two containers. You're saying pouring into both containers at the same time at the same rate is equality. Feminism doesn't believe the containers are equally full to start with and so pouring into both at the same time wouldn't make them any more equally full at the end. Feminism wants to bring both containers to the same level. Pouring into the container that already has more in it doesn't help bring the less full container to parity.

It's a statistical fact that, if randomly assigned, over 90% of couples would have a taller man. Men are statistically taller than women. I don't think that proves that height (or height difference) is causally related to sexual success.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/18 05:26 AM
1

Men aren't the only ones judging women (or men). Also, in my mind, a double standard is one where one sex is praised for something while the other is demonized. Height as a desirable trait is a standard only applied to men and therefore not a double standard as I use the term.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/18 04:50 AM

These people that treat height like it's a golden ticket are ridiculous.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/05/18 12:34 AM

Women are judged for their tits, legs, ass, hair, eyes, hips, whether they shave, their makeup, their clothes. Both men and women are judged on their physical appearance, so I don't believe that height is a double standard, just a different one.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/05/18 08:40 PM

-Your height matters I don't think this is a double standard, so much as a different standard. Women are judged on all sorts of aspects of their physical appearance.

when people tell you that getting muscles is gay... Being a prima donna obsessed with your appearance is what people are referring to. They're not talking about the average gym goer, they're talking about the roided up meathead. confident men are assholes. Similarly, these people are talking about confident assholes being assholes. It's not their confidence that defines them as assholes it just happens at the same time.

They're not saying any effort is involved Going to festivals, going to house parties, socializing is effort. There was one guy on here who used to tell people to just go to a music festival and do drugs, as if that magically got dudes laid. It's not magic, but surrounding yourself with horny people with lowered inhibitions is certainly a good start.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/18 03:18 PM

If we're taking their story at face value these men, and women, were having plenty of sex and had plenty of options. These are people with what sounds like a relatively large social circle and decent grasp on social grace. These people probably would not have struggled to find a low-N person if that's what they wanted.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/18 06:59 AM

Oh, you want sex for literally zero effort.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/18 06:10 AM

This also completely negates the fact that going to a bar/club is a fucking stupid idea for the majority of men who are looking to get laid in an effective and efficient manner. This is just ridiculous. Where are you suggesting these men go instead? Bars/clubs are large congregations of (usually) happy people with lowered inhibitions, many of whom are also trying to get laid.

Again, we use the term to talk about those who self-identify as incel because it's more useful. That they self-identify as incel is more important than that they're incel which is why we use a more restrictive definition. The self-identification is the information we care about.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/05/18 07:23 PM

We're defining the term as "people who self-identify as 'incel'" because, while technically correct, calling everyone who hasn't had sex in a while "incel" isn't a super useful application in the same way that calling babies atheist is a technically correct, but not very useful label.

We're talking about desires, not necessities. I don't get why you keep circling back to that. My original claim was "people will do things they don't want to do to ensure outcomes that they do want." it means masculinity is toxic. Except it doesn't. It means toxic aspects of masculinity are toxic or that aspects of masculinity can be performed in a way that's toxic. This is how adjectives work. See that's a fairly well-reasoned response. The issue comes when you make the jump from "masculinity changes with time" to "women will fawn over professional gamers". That's an unsupported logical leap, you have no idea that's how masculinity will change. Gaming being socially accepted and gamers being sexy or masculine are two different things and one does not necessarily lead to the other.

Plus, someone with my build at 6'3" and 180lbs is not going to have the same build as someone who's 5'8" and 180lbs. It doesn't surprise me, either, that tall men can't lift as much as shorter men within the same weight class.

Otherwise, sex is a women's weapon and he will lose this battle. People in open relationships do not typically view those relationships as adversarial. The men in these relationships can't lose because they aren't competing against their partners. Beyond that, relationships are not zero-sum. If he gets everything he wants out of the open relationship then it's not a bad deal, even if she gets more of it.

I already mentioned religious ideas about alcohol. Many sects don't have anything against alcohol (most Roman or Eastern Catholics) and other adherents aren't super strict about it even if their particular sect is. I grew up Southern Baptist, which is against alcohol, and knew many Southern Baptists who drank. Heavily.

Lying to men about their offspring is shitty behavior, but it is not a toxic aspect of femininity. Do you understand what these terms mean before you use them? You did make that statement, though, which is when I started talking about "my world" and questioning yours. /r/PurplePillDebate18/01/18 01:35 AM

Again, where are these women that believe saying "hi" to them is harassment? I live in a densely populated, liberal area and am actively enrolled in college. It seems to me that's where women with those beliefs would be most common. And, yet, I've never met one, I've never heard of any of my friends meeting one, I've never even heard rumors of friends of friends of friends having met one, I've never witnessed it happening to strangers.

Maybe it's a reaction to there being fairly few of them? It's a niche. I don't know that I'd call that an "agenda". Seems pretty reductionist. I guess I'm getting stuck on the difference I'm perceiving of a means vs. an end. The mere inclusion of female militaristic heroes does not seem like an agenda. What do you believe their inclusion leads to or is a part of? That would seem to me to be the agenda. In my mind, an agenda is what something is working towards not the method used.

So you definitely used it incorrectly, then. First, that you couldn't follow it doesn't mean it's incoherent. Even the OP mentions that these men are likely viewed as losers. Second, I used shaming words because I think it's shameful. Duh. Third, what makes you think I'm anything even approaching upset? Like it takes some extreme emotional state to muster the motivation to post a single sentence on an internet forum. Fourth, that I didn't expound doesn't mean that I can't.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/18 06:02 AM

That was not what the OP posited. And if it's what he meant then he should include more than a single sentence. I also would agree that men are taught to pedestalize women. I grew up in the South, men are taught to be gentleman and women to be ladies, men are taught to pursue and women to be chaste. I disagree that it's some sort of reproductive strategy.

I mean, I guess giving people a real reason to judge you, something within your control, could definitely help, but it strikes me as a self-fulfilling feedback loop. I guess you don't understand what I mean. A tu quoque is a type of ad hominem. It's like saying "you can't tell me smoking is unhealthy because you smoke, too." It doesn't really counter the statement that smoking is unhealthy. Saying "women behave shittily, too" does not really counter the statement that men behave shittily. The statement "TRP is reactionary and men behave shittily because women behave shittily" is a valid argument, but merely saying "women are assholes, too" is not.

I've always thought "it's a social construct" is a total non sequitur. We all live in society. Social constructs have meaning and import. I mean, I also think naturalistic arguments like "humans aren't meant to be monogamous because they're animals" are super weak (partially because there are lots of animals that are monogamous, so obviously it's not an absurd concept). Humans aren't "meant" to do a lot of shit, but here I am laying in bed in an air-conditioned house posting on the internet from…

No, just talking doesn't fix things, but talking does at least lay out that there's a problem. And once there's a recognized problem there's actual work to be done to fix it. Talking is not the cure, it's merely part of the process. You talk to a therapist so the therapist can direct you towards tools to help with whatever your issues are, not just for the sake of talking. Talking is not an end in itself.

This is how my therapy went, minus the psychiatrists. DBT helped me recognize my thought patterns and gave me coping tools to corral them. I didn't have insurance, but went to a place with sliding scale payment options and spent $30/session.

Everything I've talked about is endemic, not inherent. They are an aspect of the culture, not the people. What do you think "culture" is? What are examples of "cultural norms" in your opinion?
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/17 01:46 AM

How on earth is that a toxic aspect of blackness? That's clearly just racism toward whites; certainly not universal among black people. Are you really making the argument that racism isn't toxic? Or just that it isn't something that happens in black communities? Because it absolutely is. Black communities self-police what it means to be black and ostracize people who aren't black enough. How is this not a toxic cultural norm? The non-toxic version of this is maintaining one's culture, the toxic …

Can you talk about some aspects of blackness that are toxic? I've seen friends get in fights because they "sounded white". Young black men forego education and other opportunities because they're banking on athletic skill carrying them to the pros. Many aspects of toxic masculinity overlap, as well, like hyperaggression. Toxic masculinity and other concepts like it explicitly talk about how parts of their respective ideas are toxic. And they don't need to be exclusive, either. I mean, many people consider circumcision to be genital mutilation. That would seem to be a pretty toxic aspect of Judaism. A lot of Jewish communities are also super insular, sometimes to the detriment of their members. This is the sort of thing people are talking about when they are talking about toxic whatever. Toxic masculinity is norms and behaviors associated with masculinity performed in a way so as to become toxic. The norms themselves are not inherently toxic.

Because it's more representative of how much money you actually make. As Icky said, some higher tax brackets reach 50%. And plenty of other people make their money under the table, tax-free.

You said abuse victims are dumb for "falling for" it. That's victim blaming and it's also not how abuse works.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/17 06:47 PM
2

I'm not calling "everything" victim blaming. I'm calling this specific instance victim blaming. You're implying that the victims of abuse are ultimately the ones responsible for their abuse instead of the abusers (you know, the person who actually committed the abuse). As I said, I believe this comes from a complete lack of knowledge or experience (I.e. ignorance) with how abuse happens and is perpetuated.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/11/17 12:57 AM

So to circle back around to their original point: this is exactly the kind of garbage BPers talk about when they say they think RP is a trashfire. This is victim blaming and arrogantly ignorant of how and why abuse happens, is perpetuated, and normalized.

When someone says they're making a certain amount per month, I think in net dollars, not gross. I always assume the worst of people and will usually assume they're using revenue and acting like it's profit. Just like I assume anyone that mentions their salary is likely making 10%+ less than what they're claiming (and that what they're talking about is their pre-tax salary, not take home). You're doing very well to be making that much from a pizza store. I doubt we have a particularly high or imp…

It's really not out of the realm of possibility for a small business (not an individual) to make $100k/month. As a conservative estimate my pizza shop probably sees $80-90k/month pass through the doors.

That all just sounds like posturing, not merely posture; domineering, not dominant; aggressive instead of assertive. Confidence is sexy when it appears easy and natural. /r/PurplePillDebate06/11/17 09:22 PM

Confirmation and selection bias. Normal people with average success don't need to post on the internet about it. That there are a lot of awkward and confused men that can't figure women out doesn't mean that all, or even most, men can't.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/11/17 09:21 PM

Those women chose to have sex, they did not choose to abandon their children. That's some victim blame-y nonsense. Secondly, you missed the point. The men who would abandon their children likely wouldn't make good role models even if they hadn't left. So, regardless, of single-motherhood those children would not have been raised with a strong male role model.

It's a connotation vs. denotation thing, personally. Men on a dry streak or that aren't necessarily successful with women are not what I would consider incels. There's a certain level of self-hate and externalization of blame I attribute to incels that doesn't exist with average men who just might not get laid as often as they'd like.

The people in Chicago using guns on such a large scale encourage the use of guns. The gangs using the guns encourage the usage of guns and it's a problem that feeds on itself. It's an engrained part of those neighborhoods, it's every day life. What do you think is happening there?

That they are wrong often does not effect whether they are wrong this time. If they are wrong then explain how they're wrong. That they have been wrong in the past is not evidence that they are wrong right now. Refute the claims, not the person making them.

The people participating in a sub are responsible for it's content. If things get upvoted on TRP, it's because the people on TRP agree with it. If it isn't RP and doesn't belong then it is up to members of the community, specifically the moderators, to police it.

Ad Hominems, by definition, are not valid; they're fallacies. What makes an Ad Hominem an Ad Hominem is the relevancy of the attack, not the attack itself. Also, similar to an Appeal to Authority, the source does not guarantee or negate the accuracy of the claim. A broken clock is right twice a day. Shitty source, but it's still right sometimes.

Naturals, of any type, still have to learn and often even need to be taught. The difference that makes them naturals is that they learn and internalize those things quickly. They're predisposed to those skills. A baseball prodigy doesn't know how to play baseball out of the womb.

Being a total bitch is counterproductive. To what? If you walk away from a total bitch, who loses? You don't have to deal with a total bitch and she doesn't have to deal with someone who won't like her anyway. The DMVs here are pretty efficient (as far as DMVs go).

Why do you think I'm doing so blindly? Atlas is a regular. Why do you think I'm defending Atlas specifically? And not her behavior? Posts under the automod are not necessarily relevant to the overarching topic. Why do you think that offering my opinion that you're acting ridiculously is defending Atlas? What if I'm not defending her, I'm attacking you? Anyone could have made her comment and I would react similarly to your response. What did Atlas do that was "wrong"?

I think that if he is taught that sex is validation and then doesn't receive that validation that he will likely suffer for it. My parents are big into kink and I was taught from a somewhat young age that sex, indeed, isn't validation and thus my self-esteem and personality aren't wrapped up in whether or not I'm getting laid or how much sex I've had. I do not make other people responsible for my emotional state.

It really isnt even dating advice. TRP is about sexual strategy. It is 100% dating advice. There are many things that seem common sense once you 'take the pill' that go against everything a lot of men are raised to believe[.] Common sense ain't that common and the demagoguery on TRP is meant to seem like it makes sense, who would read it if it didn't? What are specific examples of both things "men are raised to believe" and the "common sense" TRP espouses that is contrary to those things?

She replied under the automod. What were you expecting? It's not like it takes some great feat of strength to type a dozen words into a Reddit comment. She didn't give anything up, it didn't cost her anything. You've put far more thought and emotion into her comment than she did. The better question is why are you so bent out of shape?

You don't ask. That's why he laughs, you can't half-ass it. If you're going to be direct, you need to be direct. Especially if that sort of directness is out of character. A normally coy woman, out of the blue, being very up front is going to throw him off. "You wanna bang?" while I'm watching TV is not going to get the response you're looking for. Straddle me on the couch and kiss me and it is on.
/r/PurplePillDebate11/10/17 08:56 PM

That's because most of TRP is just re-worded standard dating advice. The language, the culture, the locker room nature of TRP is what makes TRP TRP. "Own your shit" is just "be yourself" and "be confident". "Maintain frame" is just "set boundaries and stick to them" with some more "be confident" thrown in. "A&A" is just called "flirting" by normal people. They're BP platitudes rewritten to be more "manly", which apparently means "more vulgar and simplistic".
/r/PurplePillDebate11/10/17 08:28 PM

ball busting is not something that men look for. Again, projection. Finding common ground is ball-busting?! Even if it is ball-busting, it's a test. Your response will give her some amount of information to gauge your compatibility or level of interest, especially if that response is to get butthurt about perceived ball-busting. r/TheBluePill exists to mock r/TheRedPill. It is not a sexual strategy guide at all. When people here talk about BP they're very rarely talking about r/TheBluePill and, if they are, will usually distinguish between the general "BP" and specifically "TBP". It's the same with RP and TRP.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/17 05:39 PM

That's because the "stock" BP beliefs presented are straw men. As with many BP beliefs they are not meant to be taken literally and applied universally. If you're a teetotalling virgin, you're probably not going to have much in common with a party girl slut. And there's nothing wrong with that. BP has never said everyone is compatible with everyone else. N-count is an indicator that your values might not align, not proof that they don't.

It's not "it's not fair", it's assault. It's a false equivalence. Rape is an action, no one is doing anything (literally) to incels. You said they don't have a single valid argument. "It violates someone's agency" is a valid argument against rape. "It's often violent and traumatic" is another. "It's against the law" is another (though not a very compelling one). Your argument sucks and so do you.

This, I believe, is fairly close to the experience of the average man. Most men have sex and have had, or have, relationships. Sure, maybe not as much as they want and maybe not with their dream woman and, yeah, it probably isn't easy, but it does happen regularly --even frequently-- and it is a totally normal thing.
/r/PurplePillDebate04/10/17 11:02 PM
2

That's entirely possible for the average man. The average man has been in, or is currently in, a relationship. The average man also typically doesn't want the particular dynamic you lay out. The average man wants more than sex. For the average man a relationship is not typically merely a tool to get laid. You're fucking ridiculous, god damn. Stop hanging around other shitty incels. Those are not "average men".

Rape is an action perpetrated against an unwilling participant by an outside actor. Rape very specifically violates someone's agency. Incel-dom is not remotely the same thing. GTFOH.

And it's not illegal to vote for an intellectual midget. Trump is a moron. Plain and simple. He's just not a smart man. Anyone who believes otherwise still hasn't come to terms with the fact there's actually someone that dumb in the White House or they're equally as stupid as Trump is. The fact that something isn't illegal doesn't make it right, and it definitely doesn't make something worthy of having the presidential seal.

That's because, to them, the fact that they even need to think about the possibility of rape is far more important than the victim blame-y "shouldn't have got drunk with a stranger" apologists. Men should not be okay with this mindset. It blows my mind that they are. Driving a motor vehicle is far and away the most dangerous thing any of us do regularly and no one says "guess you shouldn't have been driving around strangers" when there's an accident.

Is that not part of dating? Not everyone is right for each other. This insanely pessimistic outlook will poison more relationships faster than whatever hypergamy you believe in. Edit: If your mindset, from the very beginning, is that the relationship will fail then a) of course it's going to fail, and b) don't get into that relationship. But then that would play into your confirmation bias, proving it was just her female nature and definitely nothing you had any responsibility in.

They aren't mutually exclusive. That's how you're wrong. Toxic genderization is the enforcement by society of gender roles that can become toxic. Toxic masculinity is the enforcement of the male behaviors, toxic femininity the enforcement of female behaviors. If by enforcing toxic masculinity you think women also enforce toxic femininity then they happen side-by-side, simultaneously. Many actions have multiple results. My view here is about the idea of masculinity in any form being toxic. Then therein lies your problem. Toxic masculinity isn't the idea that all masculinity is toxic.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/17 06:26 PM

Toxic femininity and toxic masculinity are terms that are not defined by the people applying the pressure. A woman telling a little boy, "boys dont cry" is not toxic femininity. That would be absurd.

Then they are not the same thing. And, again, status is an indicator of those qualities, not proof of them. It's not "people with status absolutely have these qualities" it's "people with status will likely have these qualities."
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/17 06:38 AM
2

You just said they're the same thing and then, in the same breath, said they aren't. If they're the same thing then a man with the qualities to accrue status accrues status and men that don't have status don't have the qualities of someone who accrues status. If a man has the qualities that would otherwise gain status, but fails to gain status then they must be separate. Again, status is merely an indicator of attractive qualities, it is not attractive in and of itself.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/17 06:04 AM
2

No. They aren't.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/17 04:15 AM
3

So no one believes it but it earns status? Can women sense status innately? Or is it learned? Can women still sense a man's status --his place in the hierarchy-- when a man is alone? I think you're confusing status itself as what women find attractive instead of the qualities that led a man to that status.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/09/17 04:10 AM
5

If it's serious and not just for laughs, then they're trying to establish dominance and/or hierarchy... which leads to more women. There are no women in this situation. It's a group of exclusively men. Trying to sound cool to earn status, to get women. They earn status in the locker room to impress women who aren't there? What is this nebulous "status" you gain, that women can sense, by talking about the trim you pulled last weekend?

No such thing as hate speech. To quote Aristotle: "This reasoning is glaringly inconsistent with observed facts."

Whatever you need to tell yourself. They're not picking on people for things they were born with, choosing to make fun of people who choose to act the way they do. Freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom from judgement. I'm not saying they're not mean (pobrecita had their feelings hurt), just that they're not hateful in the same way that TRP is. And "taking the bullet for"? C'mon, man. This is Reddit. What bullet am I taking? Strangers will think less of me? I'll lose a dozen (of my 36,000) karma…

We're calling speech that expresses hate hate speech, yes.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 04:36 PM
8

Blues do it every day on r/thebluepill. TBP attacks people who say absolutely ridiculous, awful shit through their own poor decisions. TRP attacks people who are born with vaginas through no fault of their own. Men do it to women, women do it to men, and different races and religions do it to each other. "But he did it, too!" is an excuse I stopped using in elementary school.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 04:35 PM

Because blues typically aren't arguing the legality of TRP, but about how hateful it is. When I say "hate speech" I mean "language that expresses hate".

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from criticism.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 04:17 PM

I don't think OP is talking about the legal definition of hate speech. In general, "hate speech" is language that attacks someone or a group because of their race, gender, disability, religion, or sexuality. It is speech that expresses hate.

I don't know what to tell you. In my experience it is not "highly unlikely" that someone who is dominant in the bedroom is, at the same time, not dominant in other areas of their life.

Which is why I addressed both.

/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 12:43 AM

That's not how humans human. I mean, but it is, though. I've met these people. Hell, I am one of those people, I'm much more confident around the people I'm close to than I am around strangers. I'm also more dominant when I'm in a role where I'm expected to be dominant. I don't default to dominance but I am capable of it and sometimes take pleasure in it.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 12:22 AM
6

Someone dominant is necessarily highly confident. Confidence is highly context sensitive. I am confident in my skills as a cyclist, I am not a confident electrician. You can be confident in the bedroom within your private relationship with a close partner, but not confident around strangers. How can they be shy at lunch(I presume that's what munches are lol)? A munch is a casual social gathering for members of the BDSM community.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/09/17 12:03 AM

I met some of the most non-confrontational, shy people at munches that were doms in their relationships. They absolutely do exist and they really aren't rare.

I don't give a crap what the person thinks their reasons are inside of their own head Ignoring a person's own reasoning for why they behave the way they do seems awfully shortsighted or at least willfully ignorant. I care about their subconscious drives, and outwardly behavior. What about their conscious drives? They believe it "in the moment", but it doesn't mean anything. What you believe in the moment certainly affects how you behave in that moment. Taking a person's own perception of themsel…

Crimes require evidence. I mean, they really don't. Sure, evidence is useful in persuading a jury, but it's not necessary. The jury can choose not to convict even when there's overwhelming evidence (jury nullification) and can choose to convict even if there's none at all. So it becomes a he says, she says debate. That's the entire point of a jury of your peers. Twelve people hear the plaintiff's case, hear the defendant's case, and then make a decision ideally based on whether they believe ther…

Ghosting and dumping end the relationship, they're a single act. They can not be a pattern. Unless, for some reason, you continually get back together with someone who ghosts or dumps you. Also, ghosting is rude, but you've really got to get over this obsession with it like it's some kind of cardinal sin or world-ending impropriety.

Ever heard of the word false positive before? What would a false positive for a abusive relationship look like? You obviously have heard of X-ray's, blood work, scans, ultrasounds im sure right? And what would the equivalent of these tools be when talking about relationships? Of course I know what these things are. "You have many of the common symptoms of cancer, therefore it's likely you have cancer" is basically how medical diagnoses work. "Many of the these behaviors appear in your relationship, therefore it's likely you are in an abusive relationship" would be a very accurate analog.

Gotta love that strawman when you don't have a good argument right! It's not a straw man, it's legitimately how I interpret what you're saying. It's super victim blame-y. If you think rapes are easily preventable by the people being raped then I can only assume you've never spoken to a rape victim about their rape. You're giving these women an incredible amount of agency in a crime that explicitly strips them of that agency. It says no combination of choices could have prevented the rape. Becaus…

What is this ridiculous hypothetical? It has nothing to do with the topic at hand. Secondly, I wouldn't have sex with a woman who wasn't indicating she actively wanted to have sex. I mean, it's like saying locking your door doesn't prevent burglaries. No, what you're saying is equivalent to "murder victims aren't strong because they didn't, or possibly couldn't, stop their murder." .. they are insinuating women have no power to fight back or stop sexual assaults or rapes. It doesn't say that at all. It says that women who are raped aren't to blame for being raped. The paragraph isn't even about preventing rape, it's about taking control of the fear of the act. Women can't …
/r/PurplePillDebate10/09/17 06:42 AM

Did you read the same paragraph that I just did? Did you accidentally paste in something from an entirely different source than you meant to? What you quoted says that women have no control over the men who assault them, not that they "have no... responsibility for their vagina." It actually literally says that women aren't responsible for being assaulted.

I'm sure those girls exist. I'm not arguing that. I don't, however, believe that's the average sugar baby. I don't think most sugar babies are even really attracted to their sugar daddies and none of the sugar babies I've ever met are looking to fill any holes in their lives, just their wallets or closets. sugar babies offer a markedly different service than escorts But it's still a service. Someone who purchases a service is called a consumer.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/17 10:18 PM
3

I perfectly understand what you're trying to say. I also disagree with it, which is why I offered my opposing opinion. A sugar baby's customer is no more "the boss" than the retail customer is the retailer's boss. Both businesses certainly allow their customers some control of the relationship, but are still basically in control of the nature of the interaction.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/17 08:07 PM
5

I don't believe that most women, or even most sugar babies, have an electra complex, no. I do believe that most sugar babies will happily let you think you're "the boss" as long as you keep buying them shit and paying their rent and that as soon as that stops happening they will drop your ass faster than you can blink.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/17 07:12 PM

Just to nitpick: you can't, by definition, let someone cheat. Cheating is done explicitly without permission; it's not cheating if you let your SO do it.
/r/PurplePillDebate08/09/17 07:05 AM
4

In both situations you're the customer, not the boss. You're buying a service. Letting you "be the boss" might be part of the service, sure, but you aren't really the boss anymore than you're the boss of the retail drone at Wal-Mart.

I, personally, haven't played poker with nothing on the line (and even then the game is still a competition; there's still a winner and a loser) except to learn the game, but I have competed many other times where nothing was up for grabs except the title of "winner": summer camps, field days at school, drinking games, rec leagues, practice sessions. You've conflated hostility and competition, but competition isn't actually inherently hostile.

Then there's a difference of opinion on what the word 'hostile' means, too. Google lists the primary definition as "unfriendly, antagonistic." I mean, in many of my relationships I have let my SO decide much of what we do with the house, bills, big purchases, our combined time off, but I have also always been an agent of my own free will; I have never felt "powerless in certain domains". Any power I didn't have over a decision was power I ceded, which is totally normal in long-term cohabiting relationships; compromise and delegation of responsibility is normal. Kowtowing to your SO is not.

It might not be true in your experience, but it is in the case of a lot of other men who complain about this aspect of relationships with women. I'm sure that many men do have relationships like that. I also don't believe that it's the average relationship experience of men. I've never heard anyone defend modern, fundamentalist Islam from a feminist standpoint. Hell, even the article linked calls out modern, fundamentalist Islam for it's treatment of women.

Presumably those women are also working and buying goods and services. How does the economy take a hit?

I'm neither a woman, nor Chad, I'm your typical liberal American cis white male. I just don't pedestalize or obsess over sex. And, yeah, getting casual sex as a dude isn't easy. Which is why I don't feel sorry for the dudes who start off by shooting themselves in the foot (so many foot idioms).

a woman could say she was a trump supporter and wanted me to fist her and call her hillary, and id still thank god for the opportunity to get laid. Jesus, you're pathetic. Why fuck someone you don't even like? Why act like it's a gift bestowed upon you? they make up increasingly demanding rules and caveats The incredibly low bar of "don't be vulgar" is really too high a hurdle for you? The dudes the woman in the OP is talking about had a foot in the door --she's already attracted to them-- befor…

It's not that they're saying sexual things it's how and when. For women, it tells them you're vacuous and when you can afford to throw away 90% of the people you're actually attracted to (ignoring the likely much larger number of dudes who messaged her and she didn't find attractive) the opportunity cost is pretty high. Turning down the mouth breather who opens with "sweet tits", even if he's the Chadliest Chad who ever did Chad, leaves her schedule open to fuck someone who might actually care i…

they are ok with strange men fucking them in their pussy hole, but those strange men better not dare say anything sexual too early. You really think that makes a lick of sense? Yes. You don't weed out potentially shitty partners when you're dating? Or even when you're looking to hook up? If a woman starts talking about kids and shit on the first date wouldn't you bail? If they had "standards" why are they letting these strange men fuck them? Uhhh, they aren't?

considering women get turned off if a man doesn't make a move or bring up sex at all... Is this really surprising? That women don't push sex on people who show no interest in having sex with them?

Women have standards?!

So much of the nonsense on this forum is from people misreading, or patently ignoring, social cues and context. You say that line the right way in the right place to someone who's already shown interest and I can definitely see it playing out the way you want it. Plus, one of the reasons it works is because it's not vulgar and because it's irreverent. Sure, it's suggestive, but a grown man saying "butt" is obviously not super serious; it's playful.

People totes never change. You're the exact same person coming out of high school as you are when you graduate college, or when you get married, or after your kids grow up and move out.

Your leading questions are immature and annoying. Just fucking say what you want to say instead of trying to trick others into doing it.

Do you not understand what the word "dehumanizing" means? By using words typically reserved for less-than-humans to describe humans you imply that those humans are less-than-human.

Trump lost the popular vote, so he's obviously not a President for everyone. He's a (self-proclaimed) billionaire, so much closer to the Wall Street snobs than any of us. He's a scam artist who doesn't pay his contractors so, again, he's just like those snobs who want to keep all the money for themselves. He's a xenophobe --if not an outright racist-- and has made it clear through his EOs that he has no interest in the future for the whole of America. He's a demagogue.

You're using words typically used to describe things that aren't human, that are viewed as lesser beings. Again, I don't know where I'm losing you.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/07/17 02:41 PM

Lots of stupid people say all sorts of the stupid shit they think. Not a good quality in a President.

You don't see what's dehumanizing in referring to people how you would animals? It's not the word itself --obviously-- that's insulting. It's typically the context and tone. And people are capable of caring about more than one thing at a time, and to varying degrees. I don't think tactlessly referring to women as females is at the top of the feminist agenda, nor do I believe it needs to be.

Calling a woman "female" isn't sexist, it's dehumanizing. It's how you describe animals, not people.

Doesn't mean therapy can't be useful. And DBT is only one school of therapy, it may not be useful for you. There are lots of counselors out there with all sorts of different methodologies, specialties, and personalities.

Therapy can help with why you might be bored all the time, then. Learning what's causing that mental state can be helpful. I used to feel that way all the time, but I didn't know anything was wrong or how to deal with it. Therapy helped me realize my triggers, how to be pro-active so as not to trip them, and how to be reactive when I did. Having no emotions or drive is not normal. That state, for me, was reactionary. I used it, unhealthily, as an avoidance technique.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/07/17 08:18 PM

Most modern forms of therapy/counseling aren't about simply venting. DBT is about identifying triggers and learning coping skills; it's about giving you the tools to recognize and regulate your emotional state.
