My daughter (16) won't talk to me. Her mother says give her time. This hits home so hard, and I’m a bit overtired. As a now father Ive cut ties with my parents over an abusive childhood. They didn’t seem to mind me cutting them off, they don’t call or ask about their grandkids. I haven’t spoken to them in years. If they’d just send a xmas card, or a gesture that they were thinking about me it would make such a word of difference. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/01/24 09:31 AM
My daughter (16) won't talk to me. Her mother says give her time. You’ve miss read: His daughter won’t talk to him. That is her choice and we honour choice. What the father can do is be there for the moments that matter- holidays, important events. By doing this the father shows that he is honouring her space but also turning up when it matters. Right now will suck, but I believe this will build to a more secure relationship, in time. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/01/24 09:25 AM

Don't fear asking your wife/girlfriend to do what she is supposed to do in the marriageI actually really agree with the way you’ve worded this, and I think your point on ownership and boundaries is really good. I relate a lot to OP’s post - my ex had an affair, house was a mess and I felt I had to “man up” and take on the extra cleaning, cooking, taking care of the kids role. going through divorce from this is traumatic, and in my personal life I have to make the mental note of not letting my past experiences negatively effect future relationships. OP’s closing statement “demand r… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/24 05:33 AM
Don't fear asking your wife/girlfriend to do what she is supposed to do in the marriageI dunno bro. This has the trappings that wives are supposed to be servant. I searched ur profile and I think a bigger example of her not showing you the respect you deserve is that she cheated on you. Don’t let one woman’s toxicity taint your view on all women. | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/01/24 04:06 AM
I don’t know how to be alone after 10 yearsYeah, took me over 2 years to be ok being alone with myself. This is normal. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/12/23 06:29 PM
VentI really like that mindset. I feel like I’m often judgmental or critical of some of the things I think or obsess over. I think a healthier mindset would be to accept these things as thoughts - like today I’m no where near as pessimistic as I was when I wrote this. Today I feel pretty decent. I’m glad I’m at least comfortable enough now to share some of my less flattering thoughts | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/11/23 10:13 PM
