To me it seems that the “man up” premise is to push down and exclude emotions for the sake of getting stuff done. However I think “stop pitying yourself” has a connotation of evaluating yourself honestly. For example, in order to know what to stop pitying yourself for you have to separate your view of yourself as a person into what you don’t like about yourself vs what you do like about yourself. There’s an element of forgiveness for yourself that stopping pitying has that man up will never have…

Whenever I find something about a guy I appreciate in the type of man he is, I go out of my way to let them know. I’ve had friends I’m hanging out with genuinely think that it’s a subtle insult and ask me about it later. I then have to explain I genuinely like that part of them, and this exact thing. Guys almost never get real, genuine compliments. Edit: To be clear, I’m not talking about looks compliments. I’m referring to aspects of personality that make them unique. Eg: “Hey, man, I really li…

I think at its core, being successful means that at the end of every day, you can look over the way you acted and be proud of how you conducted yourself. Be proud of your actions and pursue the ones that make you feel meaningful, and the rest of the pieces of life will likely fall into place.

I would definitely be careful in approaching this topic with him. Children of parents are often rebellious, do definitely be sure to back up your positions and views with reasoned arguments that will allow him to coms to the decision himself. Enforced rules tend to not work very well without backing.

A lot of the time what really infuriates people who want to put others down is the fact that they see you as someone they wish they were. The best reaction to something like that is to treat the whole situation like a joke, thus removing the power of the person who wants to “test” you. People who have power do not need to flex that power to be powerful; they rest assured that they are powerful. That’s where the phrase “he who must say he is king is no king.” That quote talks about how people who…

The main claim people make with regard to MGTOW to dismiss our views is that NAWALT, or Not all women are like that. AWALT, or all women are like that, is vastly misunderstood by most people. It is a claim of tendency given absence of obstacles. It claims that women tend to act a certain way given that nothing is stopping them from doing so. Women tend to search for the best high status high resource male, if allowed to do so. Women tend to trade upwards in relationships if allowed to do so. If …

Just to be clear, it’s not for those ideals and them alone. It’s for everyone who seems to agree with some things about basic guidelines, with an incredible degree of complexity and variety in day to day function. The variation between an individual MGTOW’s beliefs and another may be vast or small. This is why things like the differences between monk mode vs. only having short term relations only exist. The whole principle is to give men a place to voice their opinions feeely. That inherently su…

I think it’s worth pointing out that MGTOW is more of a collection of people who are pursuing something that they can agree with on a very basic level as other men. I think the framework you’ve set up here is MGTOW are a group, or movement, in the strict sense of that term. While I can understand that perspective, I would propose to you that MGTOW is less about a movement and more about individual purpose and fulfillment based upon suggested principles as argued by people who have lived through …

One of the cool things about MGTOW is that nobody can own your mind. Just like those old monk dudes who sit on beds of nails, the circumstances of the body do not outweigh the mind’s influence. Shaolin monks can stop spears with their necks, there’s plenty of videos out there. My point here is that you can beforced to do lots of things but as long as you have your mind you ars free. This doesn’t mean you won’t rather be other places, but it does mean you don’t have to give up your dignity. The m…

The best part about the past is that it stays in the past. Any guilt you now carry over those events is now your choice to continue to carry. You can either accept the burden of guilt or be ready to move forward with your life and let go of past events. Now that you’re aware of this choice, you have to be okay with either option you choose, because change is up to you ultimately. That’s the beauty of MGTOW. You can live without everything if need be because you have yourself and you’re proud of …

You could also consider the postive attribute association bias given to women on based upon intrinsic reproductive value. Because women propogate the species, men are inherently less valuable because 1 man can populate multiple women. This results in men being the more danger seeking sex because we are more disposable, and we are the too much supply end of sexual value, therefore must compete amongst ourselves for female attention. People associate positive attributes to women for many reasons o…

Evaluate the base notion that success = reproduction. For hundreds of years, priests lived single lives devoted to God like Thomas Aquinas, and nobody had a problem with their lifestyle. Success in human terms has always been different from animal terms because humans think differently than animals do. Humans measure impact on environment and people around them. We respect and admire plenty of people who have no children. It is a recent notion to think no kids = weird and alone. Consider societi…

Protect your interests first. Roommates are neither good nor bad but the application of making sure your needs are met should come befofe anything else. Balance cheapness with betrayal of values. Balance being alone against being in constant company. Evaluate for yourself and make a decision, then live with the consequences good or bad. MGTOW advice is essentially live your best life.

I was in your shoes once upon a time. For a while I couldn’t articulate what MGTOW means, and I confused it with a movement when it’s actually more of a personal philosophy that some dudes agree generally upon but does have differences between individuals. For me, MGTOW is a lifestyle of personal empowerment within which I examine the “natural” or “given” things in society and determine for myself if those are healthy things for me. For example, I look around and see women who want to be provide…

The whole point of what we’re doing in my opinion is getting control over what is “natural” and seeing if “natural” = good for us. Don’t be afraid to shed the notion that being “alone” is bad, many great men over the centuries are heralded for their amazing lives and did not include love. Thomas Aquinas and other great monk types live fulfilling lives alone pursuing their passion (which is religion in their case). Aloneness relies on strength, and that is only bad for women and other people in s…

Hold up, why does love have to be something given by a woman to validate you as a human? Love can be more of an expression of trust and familiarity over time. You can get just as much love from a close male friend as a girlfriend, and the only difference is the physical relations. So either what you’re really asking for is a physical relationship to validate you and make you mean something or you don’t have a clear understanding of love. Love is when you can look the evil, chaotic horror of the …

The scariest part about going your own way is that you have to be responsible for your actions. When you GYOW, failures are your fault, mistakes are your fault, the inability to change is your fault. But like any choice, there are consequences that can be good or bad, and it’s up to you to decide. You could continue to internalize all that childhood stuff, or you could decide to stop wasting your energy on it (and when you’ve truly let go you’ll see peace for probably the first time ever). The great thing about operating based upon feelings is they’re incredibly potent and feel awesome and real like nothing else. However, feelings change over time, disciplines do not. When a woman says I love you, you can probably count on them meaning that given the current set of circumstances. However, given another set of options they’re angry at you and say something like I hate you. They mean that in terms of their current reality. Divide between reality (based upon circumstances and experie…

For women in human societies, sexual appeal and their influence on men are basically synonyms. By being attractive, they believe they can manipulate men into doing whatever they want. Just like that song on the radio “I’m a sucker for you, say the word and I’ll go anywhere blindly.” Women cannot compete physically with men once they hit puberty, so their perception of feeling powerful comes manipulation of social pressures. Non serviam

The claim AWALT is a fundamental statistically based psychological claim. The same way the nature of a dog is to eat chicken, women are biologically programmed to find the best male and mate with them. Not all dogs are eating chicken right now, but all dogs would eat chicken given the opportunity. This does not mean all women always act that way, but it does mean that given the option, the woman will act in her nature. Not saying women are animals, but that humans are animals and tend to act how…

A want of something does not necessitate action to acquire that want. While we are biologically programmed to want to have mates, that can be overridden by the ability of humans to think rationally about problems across time. Of course men want sex, of course they want companionship (humans do better socially than alone), and of course men going their own way might have doubts. Those things do not mean what our actions are aren’t worth it. We love freedom most of all, and being tied down elimina…

Its actually because of a psychological study I saw a long time ago and have forgotten where the link is, but women actually prefer the faces of men who are not smiling at first look. So when they say stuff like its okay to open up or something like that, its a lie. Women like the faces of men in deep thought or scowling because that is an indicator of that man having a huge problem to deal with. And a man who can deal with huge problems can take care of a woman. Sad mostly Edit: i found the vid…

Choose your battles. Act like a general and not like a soldier. How does fighting white knoghts forward your own life? How does getting into altercations forge your own way? Sometimes we must play a little bit of a bs dance to ensure we have freedom from the larger portion of bs in society. Dont trust? That’s fine. I’m not saying change everything about you, but it’s always useful to be able sound and look like those who hate you in order to avoid unnecessary fighting. Choose your battles.

A good place to start would be to just observe yourself like you study society. Determine the things that motivate you, that anger you, that make you sad, that make you passionate, that make you frustrated, that make you happy to live life. All those observations will add up to who you are, and from that point forward, you can decide the best way to go for yourself.

One thing to consider is what you actually want to do. Try to take a second and remember that life is a journey, no matter how long, and every step along the way is actually up to you. All your choices turn into the kind of person you’ll end up being. If you work doing something you like, perhaps that’s worthwhile and you can leave something behind for your brother. Alternatively, you could approach life with the “f everything” attitude and just do whatever you want. Both are viable options, and…

One of the hardest things to do is to observe without preconceived notions. For example, in your post you said you’re not attractive enough for today’s standards. Thus, every following thought from there includes that little baseline of “i’m not good enough”. What you need to do is stop for a moment, forget everything you think you know, and really listen, paying attention to what is going on around you. Study yourself like you study society, and your own standards of worth and value will arise …

Honestly, you just have to learn to let things go. When they teach you to save someone from drowing, they always say to have your feet out to kick them away from you because drowning people tend to push you under when their survival instinct kicks in. You cannot help everyone, so letting go is the key to you living your own life well and thus being able to influence those around you who you actually can help. Breathe and remember that not everyone is aware or ready to be aware of what we know. B…

In my experience, you develop relationships with people who also need someone to form a circle of people who care about you. If no one cares about you now and you aren’t seeking anyone to care about you, then you either are okay with not seeking anyone and being sad or you’ve gotta go find people around. I’m not really talking about dating women either, get yourself a good group of guy friends who you can go through life together with. That’s a true bond

The posts are conflicting because of the nature of this place; men make their minds up for themselves. None of us have to justify the beliefs or statements of anyone else but ourselves, if we choose to justify them in the first place.

A man going his own way does not necessarily mean always alone or unloved. Being reliant on yourself for your validation and everything like that doesn’t predclude having a pack of good friends around you. You just gotta find good bros similar to your beliefs and hang out with them as you both try to better yourself. But never equate alone and unloved, thats a perception twist you’re assigning to other people when in fact you could be super cool.

The best advice I ever recieved for times of uncertainty was very simply to pay attention. Pay attention to everything around you like your life depended on it. Especially pay attention to your feelings and where they’re coming from and what situations cue what feelings. You’ll be amazed what you’ll discover about yourself if you study yourself like you’d study someone you care about. The act of paying attention can quantify a lot of the things that you may be feeling are unknowns. Like for exam…

Why isn’t going one’s own way and being in a relationship with women compatible? Well since most of MGTOW is informed by evolutionary biology as a predictor of statistically common behavior amongst the general female populace, MGTOW’s know that women come with a certain set of problems: always wanting you to serve them, not really being interesting, being needy, being bossy, inability to pair bond, hypergamy, risk of divorce etc. So, what MGTOW’s are saying is not necessarily “women are bad,” bu…

The ability to describe someone as alpha shifts over the lifespan of a woman drastically as her life goals change. When you satisfy her in one area, the others become lacking so she seeks satisfaction for that area someplace else. For example, a woman who is financially secure will spend her time looking for an alpha in the field of excitement and giving life “purpose” even if that purpose is dumb as long as it is exciting. However, a different woman who is looking for financial security will se…

Facial structure is a huge part of developing an attractiveness in both males and females. Eye tracking studies show that women observe lots of more details about a person than males do, and that means that having a good face is really important to being an "attractive" male. However, because women observe more details, one cannot have a good face alone; if I had to guess, I'd say you probably have a bunch of other qualities that bring in the female attention. For example, being skinny is a dece…

MGTOW can hold the position of being anti-radical feminisim without defining the opinions of MGTOW as a whole. IT would be as though you boiled down the philosophy of Martin Luther King as anti-white. So the whole concept of parenthood really throws a wrench into MGTOW. Biologically speaking, children crave and need both a father and mother, so raising a child as a single parent is tough no matter what way you look at it. So CBT only works so far as the chemicals in your brain are actually balanced. I have a psychiatrist who does do CBT but also prescribes mediciation also, so he’s awesome. A psychiatrist is someone who can prescribe medications and is knowledgeable about mental health diseases in conjunction with brain chemistry. You shouldn't necessarily be taking antidepressants either, because some mental health problems are due to lack of communication hormones (that have depression as a symptom) so you'll take a norepinephrine or a serotonin re-uptake inhibitor. Therapists simply teach people how to deal with emotions, but medicines can make abnormal emotions like depression …

What you’re doing and not realizing it is outsourcing your sense of value and worth to people you don’t even know. MGTOW is a delicate balance of practicality and principle. A lot of situations require a bending of your values because your values cannot broadly cover well the infinity that is life. Basically, sometimes you have to do things you don’t like in the name of trying to “fit in.” While you shouldn’t give them gifts for simply being women, it is practical to show appreciation for their work because that’s how you motivate them to do more. I think there’s a huge cultural problem, in the united states at least, where as define love and relationships wrong. Instead of a mutual partnership based on reciprocity and unconditional love, lots of people look at a relationship when the “honeymoon phase” ends and they’re searching for that “spark” again. Anger and passion are both mirror images of drive. When you’re angry about something, you tend to turn inward and spiral your anger into destroying yourself and things around you. But actually, passion is anger turned productive. When I’m angry I like to work out really long and hard because the pain I feel is real to me, and yet it is productive pain. It’s the human animal’s mating ritual. Just like birds do dances for mates, men must dance to earn the company of women. However, we’re smart enough to realize the cost of that dance is way too high for too little reward. It’s because we’re not interested in conforming to the societal standards set in front of us. Where a cat lady wants to get married but cannot, a MGTOW is not interested in the assumption that a species is only prescribed value in it’s reproductive capacity. It's because alcohol is initially a stimulant but it follows stimulant with depressant. That's why we go from screaming and dancing to not being able to form words correctly. However, the most interesting effect of alcohol is a screening of consequences processing in the brain. It’s also a good way to make bus rides less boring.

The biological imperative that girls get intrinsic value based on reproduction is what creates the shock on their face once they realize I’m not staring at them. It’s really funny

The simple fact that something is offensive does not give you the right to dictate what is allowed and not allowed. The point of freedom of speech and understanding is so that all thoughts (both right and wrong) must be spoken aloud so we as a species can stumble through the present and make a better future. I find it sad that you believe that this subreddit is full of 1) white people (although I don't see why the race of people here should matter in the slightest) and 2) specifically males (tho…

I'd be interested in playing ark, but it wouldn't be a really huge time commitment, more something casual and fun

No, I'm legitimately new to MGTOW, I'm not interested in trolling people. I think I've found something pretty good here, and I am new to reddit also. I made my account specifically to subscribe to the r/MGTOW page
