I live in a downtown area too and see people like OP all the time. Always saw them as certifiable borderline-sociopaths. Judging from the fact that OP gets off to having his dog watch him have sex, I’d say I’m not far off. A lot of people I’ve met agree with me, I wonder why it’s not talked about more. I’ve met so many girls that spot creeps like that all the time and make every effort to stay the hell away from them.

When you say keep going back for more, are you being sarcastic or do you really think I should keep trying things with this girl? To clarify, I’m not just trying to bang this chick. I think we have chemistry and happen to look good together.

See, I kinda feel like she WAS interested, but my text game is what did me in. It’s such an impersonal medium and I really try and stay away from it when I’m talking to girls. But that’s just me.

Maybe you just need to get better friends

How do I learn this? I’m not great in a social setting and people tend to walk all over me. This is despite the fact that I’m relatively handsome, educated and well-read. Where should I start in trying to improve?

A girl asked for your number??? That’s nuts.

I agree and I should say I don’t condone this type of mentality at all. While that was how I was feeling at that particular moment, I find it incredibly exhausting to think like this for an extended period of time. It’s emotionally draining and just plain unhealthy. I find that the more you treat people as individuals without any preconceptions, the better relationship you’ll have. Good vibes and all. That said, groupthink mentality in western society is absolutely disgusting. I think it has to …

Yeah, for guys attraction has very little to do with it. I think most girls today are too insecure about their own bodies to have any time to scrutinize a guy’s looks. You as a guy don’t NEED to be pretty by society’s standards because you can’t profit from looking pretty. Our society considers you a success if you are confidant, dominant, rich, etc. Being tall is good because it makes it easier to assert yourself. Girls on the other hand have a lot of anxiety about being pretty because our soci…

What you’re saying is very true. I think people don’t talk about it as much because it’s so difficult to climb out of that rut of negativity once you’re in it. I am 31 years old, an engineer, fit, handsome (at least I think so), educated; but I have no social circle, no one to hang out with where I could meet people. It’s so hard to go out by yourself and feel like you bring no value to anyone. Every day is a struggle, especially when you get particularly lonely. I’ve found that the best medicin…

Reading your post makes me think of “the law of 7” in marketing. The law says that if a consumer is exposed to a product 7 times or more, they are more likely to purchase it. Not sure if anyone’s ever cared to explore it in dating lol. Good job op, I’m happy for you

You guys sound adorable. Just shoot your shot. There’s no reason you still can’t be friends if it goes nowhere, and he will probably appreciate it.

To be honest, yeah, I kinda would. I’ve got a lot of potential to be a great partner. You just gotta get to know me.

I think people on this sub forget sometimes that many of us have issues talking to girls and finding relationships because of low self esteem linked to past trauma. And of course, it doesn’t help that in our society guys are expected to have perfect mental health and anything less is an automatic red flag. If you’re suffering, it’s not going to help you to just learn to talk the talk and walk the walk; that’s like taking medicine to cure a symptom of a disease, not the disease itself. Thank you,…

This is great, I’m going to save it. There’s a lot of Zen mentality in this. A lot of times we get stuck in these comfortable loops, doing what we think is the most ‘appropriate’ thing at the time (i.e. it’s usually the most socially comfortable thing to do). Instead of merely keeping more of a blank mind and being open to reacting to your environment because that’s the right thing to do at the time. I hope to be able to do this soon. Thanks for sharing.

Ok, but what if I just like talking to her and want to have a genuine conversation about something without having like a 20 min phone call in the middle of the day. I feel like I get what you’re saying, but a lot of that implies you’re trying to play some game where your goal is to get this girl to fall for you. I guess that’s applicable in that instance, but I’d personally avoid all the drama altogether. If you like me, great, let’s talk and get to know each other; if you’re on the fence about …
