Welcome to the real world reddit, where people post blatant lies with a "source" that doesn't confirm their story in the hopes that others will believe them without clicking through. (they will)

or at least not to a hundredth the degree The rest has been addressed pretty well, but this is exactly why I can never agree with third wave feminists. You agree that men experience the exact same things that you mentioned are a problem, but you don't act like it's a problem. These are things that should be unacceptable no matter what, not just when they happen to women.

I think you're confusing bitterness with bemusement. I could not care less that most of the posts in this subreddit are butthurt whinging by people who aren't looking for a solution. P.S. - Yes, I know what bemusement means.

(lower) Judges can not and should not enforce laws selectively. If there's no room for interpretation on the law, which I suspect there is not, the judge has no choice but to enforce it.

The traditional response to this, and it's not entirely without merit, is that men are not typically held to the standards of men in video games.

Here's a thought: If you are too stupid or lazy to read a "wordy and expansive" encyclopedia entry, you need to stay the fuck away from editing articles. To be clear, I completely believe that the wordiness of some articles does them a disservice and they should be pared down some (without losing content) but if you want to be the person to pare them down you have to read and comprehend all of the existing words.

If "diversity" to you is people who have different parts between their legs and are different colours, you are useless, racist, and sexist. Those traits should be insignificant. The problem here is that any policy that moves away from selecting editors based on anonymous merit will result in an inferior editorial staff. E: also, if you want to encourage true diversity, have candidates write about their life experiences and upbringing, and put some weight on that. I completely understand why it's…

Okay, I am going to completely ignore whether or not this is a men's rights issue because I am pretty sure it's just a government incompetence issue. Obligated no... well at least no more obligated than a guy would be to say, shave his beard if that is what his gf preferred. Technically no one is really obligated to do anything. This has always been my interpretation when people ask this question. People who are in a relationship and touch each other are both obligated to groom themselves in a way that is acceptable to their partner. "A man who has a lot of sex is regarded as a stud, but a woman who has a lot of sex is regarded as a slut." Only vaguely related, but I enjoy Jim Jefferies's (humorous) take on this: "Being a slut is fuckin' easy. Being a stud is fuckin' hard. I've seen plenty of fat ugly sluts. I've never seen a fat ugly stud."

Doesn't matter to me if 2% is accurate. That means that 2 in 100 rape accusations are made up. 2 people in 100 who could end up just like this kid and have done absolutely nothing wrong except associate with a piece of human garbage like Wanetta Gibson.

But guys, false rape accusations don't real, remember? This can't possibly have happened! On a more serious note, the part that left me absolutely seething was that he can get, at most, $200,000. So it turns out that 5 years of his life gone forever is worth less than 30% of ~30 minutes of fabricated suffering by that awful woman.

That's the experience I had as well. (the dick cop part, not the getting hit with an ESW part.) While I am not advocating arming teachers, per se, I do find it peculiar that people believe it to be a completely absurd thing to allow teachers with CHLs to carry in school when they're already allowed to carry in a number of other places with a lot of children present.
/r/MensRights28/12/12 05:40 PM
2

Absolutely. As anyone who has attended a public school with a police officer regularly present will tell you, the officer will find ways to be a nuisance the 99.9999% of the time that nobody is being shot. More importantly though, it's insanely expensive and not necessarily terribly effective.

Your assumption that all feminists are the same is exactly the problem. It's not true, and it's not constructive. Similarly, all MRAs are not the same. For example, I'm quite sure that I am nothing like you.

/r/MensRights25/12/12 08:44 AM

Agreed. My point is this: that makes this a medical malpractice/legal system issue. A basic men's rights litmus test is this: Is <bad thing> possible/happening because the person it's happening to is a man? The answer here is a resounding "No". A female surgeon/GP/whatever could easily perform a vasectomy, and then she'd be the person opening herself up to a lawsuit.

Asshole is gender neutral. Presumably it was a woman, but it doesn't change he story.
/r/MensRights21/12/12 12:58 AM

This is not at all a men's rights issue. Some asshole sued some surgeon somewhere and ruined his life after he performed a vasectomy, this doctor heard about it, and isn't willing to risk having the same happen to him. The problem here is that anybody can and will sue anybody else for any reason.

Well, assuming perfect asexual reproduction (as in, no mutations) it'd just result in clones of the parents. There would, presumably, still be some level of mutation, but no mixing of genetic material. Every time a "line" of people died off, that genetic material would leave the gene pool forever, and there wouldn't really be an effective way to create new genetic material.

The whole point is that you hand over the money willingly because you aren't smart or clever enough to see that you're being cheated. Edit: I am not arguing, nor do I believe that those people deserved to be ripped off, just that the assertion that they are stupid is most likely an accurate one; At the very least it's not a wholly inaccurate assertion to make.

How retarded do you have to be to fail to understand that on paper gender is just another risk factor? It doesn't matter if I addressed it directly. "male = .05% higher chance of causing xyz type of claim" is different in NO WAY from "lives on 3rd street = .05% higher chance of causing xyz type of claim" or "Has had an accident in the past = .05% higher chance of causing xyz type of claim". Don't blame the insurance company, blame facts. Also I still don't know why the fuck you think a good male…

Perhaps, but why should a careful male driver pay more than a shitty female driver? What the fuck are you even talking about now? Do you have any idea how insurance rates work? Your demographic is a starting point, not the end point. Do you not understand that all 16 year old men do not pay the exact same insurance premiums? Risk management and actuarial analysis 101, just for you: I'm starting an insurance company, I know that I need to offset the risk of potential payouts over a given period o…

You've clearly missed the extremely basic fact that insurance is based on risk management. It does not matter how carefully you drive; the only way to completely guarantee that you will never make a claim is to not drive, and that's why that's the only way (in most states) to avoid having insurance premiums based on the best available data. If you invent a way to see the future I'm sure insurance companies will be very interested. How can you still not understand that equal pricing is not actual…

Being equal in the eyes of the law is the very definition of equality of opportunity.

I agree that it's something worth working towards in the sense that people should be able to achieve without being held back, but really what that amounts to is equality of opportunity. The simple fact is that some people are better than others. No matter how badly various support structures hamstring the best and prop up the worst, that fact will not change. Furthermore, not everybody even wants the same outcome, so at best you railroad people into an "equal" life that is still more enjoyable f…

Not all drivers HAVE a driving history. Especially since the women in the article are 18. Insurance companies do base fees on driving history, but they also base it on what they believe they can expect you to cost them in the future. One serious accident will offset a LIFETIME of insurance premiums, so it actually does not matter that you haven't been in an accident in 5 years. Unless you can show that you'll never be in a collision, which you can't, your past is only so useful in estimating fut…

/r/MensRights12/11/12 07:12 PM

The funny thing is that it's not even actual equality - previously women's rates were lower because as a demographic they cost the insurance company less money. Women get into more accidents, but they're usually minor fender benders. The accidents men get into result in death and destruction and fireballs. Equality of outcome is the shittiest, most illogical goal for a society to have.

It's entirely possible that he was just not interested in having sex. While I agree that's very important for a couple to agree on sex (and money) in order for the relationship to work, my point was really the disparity in how people react.

For sure, but I think we should HEAVILY discourage the trope of "I'm being excluded because of my gender!" because that's what gets extreme feminists into trouble. If there are other possible explanations for your problem, explore them. I think it's safe to say that we here all recognize the damage that women who fall back to "You're only doing this because I'm a woman!" whenever they don't get their way are doing to their movement. I don't want us to fall victim to the same thing.

I am just so put off by the idea of an adult man in my social class trying to nickel-and-dime me on a first date. Really shows how much you have missed the point. Nobody wants to be at a club that only has dudes in it. No club wants to have only dudes in it, because (straight) guys do not shower other guys in expensive drinks. The sort of customers clubs are looking to attract want to be in a place with a good ratio of men:women, so they have to let in a good ratio of men:women. Child sexual abuse is a different crime. Before a certain age consent is irrelevant, for exactly the reason you were getting at. While we basically punish statutory rape because as a society we like to demonize sex, I think that most people accept that teenagers are cognizant of what they are doing, and at least have some grasp of the potential consequences, even if they ignore them. Before puberty, on the other hand, I think it's generally accepted that consent can't really be given in a meanin…

Even if we scale it up for the population of the world. US population in 2005 was ~290m, world population was maybe 6.3b. If domestic violence in the US is a reasonable sample of domestic violence in the world, perhaps 25,000 women were killed by it in 2005. Half-assedly adjusting for population growth, perhaps 150,000 over 5 years. Yep, I'd say that's pretty close to 16.5 million! That's right up there with gay rights activists comparing their plight with that of black people in the 60s in terms of being offensive. While I absolutely think that gay people should have the same legal rights as straight people, if you can have a parade where you are wearing nothing but daisy dukes and glitter and the reaction from onlookers is, at worst, "Ugh, that's annoying.", you're not that goddamn oppressed. Until there are fire hoses and attack dogs, that comparison is off-limits.

I don't really understand the purpose of her trying. It's not as if the men's group is assigned as the "better" group. It's the group for men. Am I wrong in assuming that ski races are determined by finishing time? If the men race on the same course, she will know if she beat them or not anyway.

It's completely meaningless. Consent can be withdrawn at any time, technically. If I say I'm for it, sign the contract, record the video interview, whatever, and then as soon as we start I change my mind, the "contract" is invalid and if you continue I'm being raped. That's why you don't have sex with crazies.

While I am completely in favour of allowing so-called "financial abortions" your argument is not a good one. It's not so much that an abortion allows a woman to avoid responsibility, it's that there's no longer a need for anyone to be responsible for the child, so it's a non-issue. If the child is born, somebody has to be responsible for it, so the issue becomes more complex.

OP: Unless you want to raise a kid alone(if you can successfully spend more money than her in court to win custody), or raise a kid around a mother who is batshit crazy, I highly recommend pushing for abortion. If you don't fight her tooth and nail she will get custody, so if you aren't financially capable of fighting for and caring for the kid, your choices are either abortion or seeing how fucked up the kid has gotten on your supervised weekend visits. Well, just contextually, false reports of rape are worse than false reports of other crimes because the stigma associated with it doesn't go away and it's often hard to prove. If I get accused of stealing and I can prove that I don't have the shit I am accused of stealing, people just move on. The accuser pays my lawyer, everything is fine.
