I recall calling my wife out on this in an appropriate manner and we listed our wants and needs. I had that listed as number one out of like 3. it was the standard never being initiated and we would go months and months without having sex. I told her that was a big issue. Anyway we wrote them all down, she took my list and I took hers. I made it a priority to mark every one of hers off daily and she declined to do the same, I backed off and within 6 months we filed for divorce.

Yup! Two kids and dealt with the same thing on the daily. Nothing I did was ever good enough, from baths to dinner to the house to if I sat in the couch and relaxed for 10 min. Made her a sahm even and she resented it because “she watched the kids more than I did”. Put one in daycare because of it and still was mad. Once you’re to that point where you feel the way you do and she views you like that, it’s hard to come back from it. She has all the control and will manipulate you to your breaking …

Not saying this will be your experience however I’ll share with you what happened to me. Quit my job of 10 years because I was guilted for my job which was a 5-10 schedule, with occasional travel, paid 6 figures which allowed her to be a sahm to our first child. Told me that I find a new job or our marriage is done so I got a job locally making half of what I was, we burned through all our savings so after a two years, I was blessed with another 6 figure job where I was working from home which a…

My ex told me she wanted to be a sahm and go back to school to get her masters. Spent 4 years and two kids later having her stay home and to get an education all for it to get shoved in my face daily how she spent more time with the kids than I did🤷. Said I was a terrible father and that i never took care of them. She got her masters, took half of my shit, and plays it off like she has done everything on her own.

Just know you are enough and give yourself time to greive. I too am going through it with two kids and a lover of 10 years. I have been manipulated to feel that I was not enough. Message if you need someone to talk to or express your emotions. We are here for you and please find support as that is the best medicine for this. Find a person that you can call and throw it all out there!

I agree it’s extremely hard work. Not too sure where I’ve stated otherwise. I feel that it comes down to the score keeping aspect which I can’t match the hard work you are mentioning. We are all drained. I wake up every morning, make breakfast for our children, take one of them to daycare, come back and work until 5, make dinner daily, and take care of them both so she can go to school of an evening. I have housekeepers come in, I do all the laundry, I spend weekends with them so she had some do…

And if I don’t sell the house won’t I have to pay her out half the equity in the house?

I honestly am sick to think about my retirement accounts but that is something I will have to discuss with the lawyer. The equity is 72k right we just purchased it not even two months ago.

What do you mean by taxes is one of the easiest areas for a negotiation win? Could you elaborate on it?

So I purchased the my previous house prior to marriage. We Just bought another house 2 months ago. It would be correct to assume that the 72k I used from the profit of the old house would be split? 36k/36k?

Im not to sure on the jurisdiction. I live in southern Illinois. As for the premarital assets that’s where I’m confused on. I bought our first home prior to marriage and when we sold it I used the 72k to put towards the new house. That’s where I’m lost on how it will be viewed.
