Did I find the fellow economist?? We are clearly of the same wavelength

Having lived in Toronto and Vancouver but also visiting other major cities, I can say it’s not ubiquitous. Vancouver is a special breed.

Depends on the city. Find that women in Vancouver (Canada) are very very superficial even off apps so overall it’s a bit hard. Could also be due to the weird income disparity here - ultra rich and ultra poor with very little in the middle.

^ this. I’ve literally put “not looking for pen pals” in my bio and it has worked out quite well. To OP - just be communicative and stop the nonsense.

Coming from a man it sounds needy - don't you guys think? Communication is attractive. Not only that, but it will put you at ease, knowing where she’s at. Don’t torment yourself. If she’s put off by you expressing yourself then she’s obviously not the right person for you.

Hopefully you’re trolling because this is a ridiculous question. At 33 years old do you truly believe this?

If you consider your desired outcome like a function, it’s hardly univariate. There are several variables entering in, potentially influencing one another and contributing to your desired outcome. In mathematics, whatever you do to one side of the equation must be done to the other. So, in this context, improving Inner Game will influence your desired outcome (for you, it seems like it’s talking to girls). Put another way, there’s a compound effect to improving various aspects of your life inclu…

Alpha/Beta/Gamma/Delta whatever the hell ideology will get you literally nowhere my guy. Be responsive to people, be friendly, be interesting and most importantly, be sensitive. Don’t be toxic. This is probably a signal that your own mentality needs to change. Yeah people are posting low quality content, but you need not consume it?

Social media is so fake. Build a life you want to lead and try not to worry so much about online following this and maximizing likes that. Just do you.

The wider issue here is knowing how to converse in general with anyone and everyone. Not everyone will be receptive, but if you can’t even have a friendly conversation, then how do you expect to converse with a woman you’re keen on?

OP also feels that she’s using him to “look good” - I concur that this is an ego thing. This woman didn’t flake either - according to OP, “she made it seem like she was coming” but it’s not like they had anything set in stone. Flaking is having established plans and then bailing.

This is some very valuable stuff. Appreciate your advice man, you were straight to the point and handed me a dose of reality. Certainly things I need to consider. A follow up - did you ever get burnt out? Sometimes I feel like I just don’t have the capacity to get to know everyone so well, especially since there are so many other things I want to focus on in life.

You don’t care for friends? Part of being a well rounded human is having a social circle even if it’s small. Maybe you need to reevaluate that. Most women will come to learn you don’t have friends and will likely think you’re weird or be put off by this.

It sounds then like you’re in the US. Sadly, real estate is so far out of reach in Canada. Even someone who earns over 6 figs would have a hard time buying a place unless it was somewhere with no business prospects. Even then, they’d hardly be income properties. But basically what I gather from this is, I should’ve stuck with finance and not become an economist, nor should I work for a Big 4. Thank you for this information though, given me some stuff to chew on. I’ve certainly made many mistakes…

It’s a dating app, you’ve gotta expect flakiness. So really it’s a numbers game, maybe 1/5 matches will actually respond and be interesting enough to warrant going on a date with. Just keep at it and honestly just ask them what their schedule is like? Of course, have some tact and be smooth about it. Something that works for me is that most people have no idea what my job entails and so when they ask, I tell them it’s best discussed over drinks. Basically what you want to do is avoid learning ea…

If you’re unsure and feel like you need to ask, then you really probably should. Forget these folks telling you it “kills the vibe”. In life, everything is about your approach - for me, I know my niche. I’m awkward and I make it fun, I make it a joke or I blather on, on purpose. Seriously, if you’re already on a date then they likely find you attractive anyway, one small question won’t change that. If they say no, they say no. But, if you think the answer is no before you even ask, just don’t do…

Your first problem is using the word 'deal' when talking about women. Your second problem is that you give a shit about your height.

A big old red flag is substance abuse problems and a harrowing past of drug use/drug stories. I learned the hard way, you can't change someone and you sure as hell can't control their actions. When someone doesn't want to help themselves, you are powerless. That shit will eat you alive.

I've had $40 CAD salon cuts and $20 CAD barber cuts, not much difference. I've also given myself haircuts for 0 cost and they've looked like some shitty cuts I've had in my life. My principle is, a good men's cut (long on top, blended/faded sides) should not cost more than $25 CAD or in your case, approx £15

Lingerie for me has never been a turn on. What is though is those cotton stripey underwear (blue and white preferably) and when they have the little tiny bow on the front. Paired with a dark (navy) bra, oof.

The groups are annoying, especially when they have a leader who yells on a microphone. Everyone takes their selfie and then walks away not taking time to marvel at the tiny details. Now I'm all nostalgic about my time there...haha. At the very least, you can always just find a North American, speak with your French accent and I'm sure they will be enamoured by you. The true French accent (NOT French-Canadian) is adorable. Good luck and have fun with the process! Also, you should totally post upd…

So, when I visited Paris last year, thinking about where I went solo (as a man), I spent a lot of the summer afternoons in parks and wandering. Maybe it's different when you're travelling alone and want to meet people but honestly sometimes when I sat in the Luxembourg Gardens just having a drink or something, I would have been totally receptive to someone approaching me. If I recall correctly, many men were there in the park reading under the shade and often alone. Also too, just wandering alle…

I find it doesn't matter what you do on a first date so long as you're a good conversationalist and entertaining. I've had generic dinner dates go amazingly well but just the same a brewery or beach walk works too. I once overheard someone say; "Don't be boring." and it's crazy how much this has resonated with me throughout all aspects of my life.

That's almost a demeaning way to view women though. While I agree a lot of them (in their early 20s especially) live for attention, it's not always the case. I find women in Vancouver to be a bit different than Toronto - maybe it's the Seattle Freeze making its way up.
