I read a post from earlier that led to me recalling an anecdote from years ago. Basically, the post is about the best way to start something is to just do it and stop procrastinating. So, in the midst of my own procrastination (of course), I decided to exercise my writing muscles - I haven't written in ages after I sorta gave up on my blog. So thus begins the story:
When I was in highschool, my mom bought a stick Nissan Versa after not driving one since the 80s (so like 30 years). She was so frightened after stalling on a major road on the way home that she took back streets the rest of the way home. When I was out with her, this continued for a few days and finally, me, being ~14 got fed up and somehow imparted some great wisdom. I told her in a number of words; "instead of taking the back streets, just get out there and drive, that's the only way you're going to get comfortable".
She heeded my advice and decided to get out there. Sure enough, she was fine after only a few rocky moments and her confidence increased exponentially and she was a pro in no time! Since then, we've both used this experience many times in our life.
This was a valuable lesson: when you're afraid, go all in and don't look back. Whether or not you've made great strides in your self-development, there will be moments of regress where you become a scared little baby again. That's totally fine so long as you pull yourself out of that rut and go back to being bold.
Whether or not that means approaching a pretty girl, asking out a friend you've been crushing on or something riskier like moving to a totally new place - just freaking do it.
there doesn't seem to be anything here
