What if it were a billboard calling a man out for being a rapist, even though there was no proof and he'd never gone to trial? Would you want to see an innocent man hounded like that? I didn't see anything identifying the woman in this billboard. AT ALL.

But I didn't "get over it." There was nothing for me to "get over."

You've obviously never spoken to any blind person.

And now you're just being ridiculous. Extra fingers and toes typically are just loose flaps of skin with no bone. While they pose no health problems in of themselves, you telling me you'd really want a wibbly wobbly extra piece of skin grossing everyone out?

I'm not arguing one way or another, I'm simply making the point that you say parents have no right to hack off a child's toe, when in fact they do have this right. You can't call something relevant in one breath and call it irrelevant in the next. Either removing the foreskin is equivalent to removing a finger or toe, or it isn't. Pick one.

(Look up "common-law" marriage, a law that allows a woman to force a man to marry her.) Incorrect. For a common-law marriage to occur, it must be in one of the few states that have common-law marriages, and the couple must self-identify as married to the community.

If you're going to go that route and blame the parents for how their adult offspring behave later in life, then nobody is to blame for their actions and we can always throw the blame on someone else. If the parents didn't do a good job raising their kid and that kid does something illegal, well then the same argument you make that the parents should be held responsible can go back even further. The parents should have been raised better themselves so they wouldn't raise a failure, so let's hold …

Can we PLEASE stop with the immediate downvoting of everyone in this subreddit who has an opinion on circumcision other than "EVIL RAH RAH RAH PTSD MUTILATION BURN IN HELL"? Especially stop downvoting the people who say they are circumcised and aren't traumatized from it. If you're afraid of their opinions because it's poking holes in your argument, then maybe you need to rethink your argument and stop lying to help prove your point. I have a circumcised penis. I don't care. And I DO NOT HAVE PT…

Not placing the blame on an actor simply because they are below a magical cutoff point is stupid. Every single person in the WORLD is responsible for their own actions.

Because it was a different occasion. Also because if a car doesn't belong to you, you don't get to keep it, regardless of a court's findings on your guilt.
/r/MensRights15/05/11 10:25 PM

That's not how it works. You can't be tried twice for the same exact offense. If I kill someone and am acquitted for it, I cannot be tried for that person's murder again. If I kill again, I can be tried for that. If I didn't steal someone's car but got charged with GTA, and was acquitted, if I then steal the car, that is a separate offense and I can be charged with it.

True or false: had this 12-year-old shithead bully not made the accusation, would the teacher's life be ruined right now?
/r/MensRights15/05/11 09:32 PM

In theory, yes. Once a person has been acquitted of a crime, they cannot be tried again on that same crime. In practice, it happens all the time.

It's really a tough call in this situation. At 12 years old, she had no idea how her accusation would ruin a man's life... but it still ruined a man's life and she ought to be punished for it. Not as severely as an adult who's fully cognizant of their accusation, but if she were to be considered a delinquent until she turns 18, I think that would be acceptable. It's already been established she was a bully, and school authorities really need to crack down harder on bullies, because they're evil …

Laws require precise definitions. I thought this until I served on a jury for a DUI. I expected the law to state something like .08 BAC as the limit, because road postings always say that. The text of the law was WAY vague. It simply said "Intoxicated to impairment" or something really hard to nail down, and that right there was what kept us in the jury room for so long, trying to determine whether he was truly inebriated enough since no breathalyzer test had been done.

How about... Get fucking pissed at what my parents did to me... but for god's sake don't push it on others. I'm circumcised, I don't care, I'm not going to get pissed off, I don't have PTSD, my life is fine. Stop forcing your beliefs on me.

No. Take some goddamned responsibility. It's not hormones that make you feel this way, it's bottling up emotion and being a pacifistic wimp. Stand up for yourself, do not let people walk over you, carry yourself with confidence, and you won't have to snap like this.

I never argued that two wrongs make a right, I was simply asking you to look at it from another perspective. In the end I agree that sexism was on all sides and we should do better as a society, but don't make this into a "those poor women" argument ignoring the other side.

The story the OP told is an example of actual oppression of women, which contrasts with the imagined oppression of the "glass ceiling" that feminists rage about today. I can't seem to find anything about this, but did New Zealand have a draft in World War II? Because if it did, then it was actual oppression of men by ripping them away from their jobs to go and kill and die overseas. You're telling me that asking women to give their jobs back to the men who were forcibly put into service is oppre…

I'm not arguing with you on the merits of circumcision, dude, I'm just saying that there are better arguments than finger removal. Personally I don't know where I stand on the issue. I was circumcised as a baby and I don't feel violated. I'm just here to weigh the different arguments, and point out that there are better arguments than finger removal which is a common practice on infants.

Newborn infants regularly have fingers removed, as one in 500 are born with extra digits, up to 1 in 300 in African babies. They are typically only partially-formed lumps of tissue, with either unconnected bones or no bones, just soft tissue. These are regularly tied off and removed. Only when the finger is fully formed do they leave it.

By that logic, a woman who chose to be a stay-at-home mom and homemaker should get nothing in the divorce because the husband earned 100% of the income, which is obviously a false way to measure it, as she is doing the lion's share of the parenting duties, and maintaining and developing the property, ensuring it retains value. Just because her job doesn't bring income doesn't mean she should get nothing in a divorce.

If she says yes, and halfway through the sex she changes her mind and says "I don't want it anymore," it instantly becomes rape in the law's eyes. If she consents to the whole thing, and the next day decides she regrets it and calls it rape, it instantly becomes rape in the law's eyes. So yes. Women are accountable when they decide to lie to police and to themselves and call it rape when it was no such thing.

You misunderstand me. I didn't mean to imply that there was something wrong with taking offense. No, I think it's often a valid response and there are things people truly SHOULD take offense at. What I was getting at, was that it's a choice made by the person, whether conscious or not, and therefore not the fault of the other person. I take offense to things, deliberately, because there are opinions out there that I find horrible but that also have serious traction in the marketplace of ideas, t…

I didn't take offense, because you can't possibly know me or how I treat people based on that one statement. There is always going to be someone who takes offense at something, no matter what it is, no matter how innocuous or innocent it was stated. I can't be held responsible for that. And of course there are people who deliberately go out and try to get people offended. But the people who take offense are LETTING it happen. I'll go on the record and say that while I'm 100% in support of gay rights and am certainly not a homophobe, the concept of anal sex just repulses me, and man-on-man more so. This of course does not mean I think their right to engage in it should be in any way infringed, and as a straight man it's not really something I have to worry about, but just on a base level it gives me the wiggins when I think about it.

Since you're opposed to war, you're already supporting something morally repugnant. How is that a refutation of my argument? I don't WANT my taxes to go to that. Just because they DO doesn't make my argument invalid. Take a good look at produce prices next time you go to the store. In a couple of years, it's going to double again. I didn't suggest that doctors shouldn't get paid, where did you get that idea? Third, I believe that birth control, pregnancy testing, abortions and sterilization should be free services. You were using the term free improperly. For an abortion to be free, a doctor would have to perform it pro bono and all medical equipment and facilities would have to be donated to such a purpose, at cost to the donator. It used to be the offensive term for the mentally disabled, until the word "retard" was introduced AS A KINDER SUBSTITUTE. Because they don't understand that numbers are misleading. It's like that statement that women only earn 75% what men earn, completely disregarding that it's because women make different career choices and take a lot of time off to care for children. They see a military that has a much larger percentage of male soldiers than female soldiers and see this as an inequality, but if they were to subject themselves to the same fitness standards as men, they wouldn't get in, so they demanded that the standards be lowered to allow women into the military. Basically, they don't give a shit about combat effectiveness, all they care about is the number of women serving.

There's a major difference between forced rape and an arbitrary line in the sand designating at what age consent can be given, something that the states can't even universally decide on. I lost my virginity at 17, to another 17-year-old. Not taking into account her motives, just looking at myself, I wanted to have sex.
