Sigh... I don't understand how it can be so hard to understand that physical size doesn't mean everything. Sure, some men might be bigger than the average(though not all men are 6'0'' tall body builders either), some men might have more to prove(due to social gender roles/expectations) and some men might have more reasons to be desperate enough to resort to violence/crime(due to a lack of female privileges) but that doesn't mean that women aren't just as capable or dangerous as men can be(more so now than ever). Not just because of the countless advancements in weapon/concealment technology, which women can make full use of just as easily as men, but also because women are far more likely to be able to carry, and use, them with impunity given current general social and judicial biases(not that weapons would even be necessary, it is certainly possible for any woman to inflict serious or permanent damage without them too).

Not only that but, really, by teaching women(or, people in general) that women are weak/victims or that they should be paranoid of men because of their size or other stereotypes/misconceptions, western society is practically encouraging women to not only carry weapons on their persons at all times but to use them as irresponsibly, prematurely and often as possible(Since, obviously, physical trauma to men isn't as big of a deal; especially if they happen to look suspicious); while also teaching us to not only underestimate a woman's capabilities for violence but turn a blind eye to it as well.

I don't know. I think maybe the poster was saying crazy bitch stories are considered funnier than crazy asshole stories because of social norms and the biological "gut" negative response humans tend to have at the victimization of women. That is, it seemed like s/he wasn't necessarily saying, "Violent men are more dangerous than violent women" or "violent women don't exist, or are not really dangerous because of their violence" but that our collective consciousness and our gut reactions lie to us about reality and tell us these very things.

And if that's what s/he is getting at, s/he's right. That's why we see mama gorilla viciously beating on papa gorilla in a Bugs Bunny cartoon on Saturday morning, and people think it's funny, while reversing the genders would send angry parents picketing the cartoon studio for promoting domestic violence.

Merely pointing out why people feel the way they do is not the same as excusing it. If that's what s/he was doing, which...well, granted, it wasn't 100% clear.
