Every woman who uses the "oppression" narrative blames men.

You'd be lying if you said that institutionalized discrimination toward women wasn't the norm up until surprisingly recently. I do say this. Not really. But it's important to acknowledge that as late as the 20th century women did not enjoy full civil and political liberties in even fully Western democracies. Neither did men. In fact in most countries they still don't due to gender based conscription or selective service.

No, they are essentially saying that women can't batter their husbands. Because being a batterer requires 'cultural and institutional' experiences that only men have.

So, in essence, it says that women can't be batterers.

As far as I can tell the only flaws those studies have are: 1) They're too well designed. 2) They don't say what these people want them to say.

Claiming that men have no right to say yes to fatherhood unless and until the day comes that they have the right to say no...what does THAT concept do to reinforce men's right to raise the kids they do want and chose to have? Hm. To be honest this strikes me as a digression from what I'm saying. I'm not saying that men shouldn't have their rights to fatherhood be respected; I'm saying that until such time as their right to say 'no' to fatherhood is respected, they should not be shamed for being …

women batterers do not count because those cases are in response to the batterings that they have received as victims Even when the only violence in the relationship is initiated by the woman?

There is. My ex is one. I don't think you're grokking what I'm trying to say. Until men's ability to say no to becoming a father is enshrined in law and custom, no man can actually consent to becoming a father. If you can't say no, you can't say yes. The end. Now here's where the rubber meets the road. Are you willing to give up the shaming power of 'deadbeat dad' until such time as men have an equal right to choose fatherhood?

I like r/MensRights, but if you guys want to argue that there is no real thing as a deadbeat dad, I'm done. Actually, in a society where consent to fatherhood is not enshrined in law but consent to motherhood is... I really don't think there are such things as 'deadbeat dads.' Financial and social obligations are meant to be made of your own free will; if they're not freely chosen, then they are coerced and unethical and the person(man) so coerced is not ethically obligated to fulfill them. Statistically most men pay child support, proportionately more then non-custodial mothers it should be said. In fact most often men who don't pay, CAN'T PAY. If your father was on social security for disability, is it possible he couldn't actually pay?

Imagine if your abuser was your mother. She would most likely retain primary control over you and you would have a far higher likelihood of never seeing your non-abusive parent ever again. Maybe the fact that you realize positive outcomes for children shouldn't be reliant on the sex of their abuser can be your shield in this instance.

Men are more naturally dominant than women in personal relationships. Actually, no. According to studies of married couples, it's men who tend to be more submissive to their wives.

No, wait! It's okay. It was a 15 year old GIRL who statutorially raped an 11 year old boy. Sean's mother, Theresa, is said to be unhappy with the situation. She reportedly said, before disappearing to an unknown address: "He [Sean] is only a child. He doesn't really understand what is going on. This has put him under tremendous pressure. She [Emma] is much more mature and experienced than him, and I worry as any mother would."

No I'm pretty sure that's not how it works It is exactly how it works. Jewish people were also blamed for having disproportionate control over society, by almost everyone in society. Not all Jewish-phobia ended in a final solution. A lot of it just made their lives more difficult because they were supposed to be the ones responsible for everything wrong ever.

It's interesting that, despite us being a first-world country, there's still a pretty big preference for boys. There isn't a big preference for boys. The reality is that some men want a son; some women want a daughter; some want one of both and already have one of the other. And that most people who are interested in sex selective fertility treatments or adoption want a daughter.

I'm going to take a different tact. If you're circumcised, think about restoring your foreskin. Circumcision tends to increase discomfort and dryness for women during sex so maybe she is legitimately uncomfortable.

It's a project for Fast Company magazine, designed to address the issue of perspective parents disproportionately wanting a boy. Obviously someone did not do their research. Why isn't this site in Mandarin? English-speakers generally prefer girls.

Scandalous refers to old women wearing miniskirts and fish net stalkings to church or men getting piss-adled drunk at 10 on Sundays. It refers to something that can ruin a person's reputation as a fine, upstanding puritan with fine, upstanding puritan values. First one: The differences in the mean BMSFI scores were not statistically significant in any of the five sections. However, the mean ejaculatory latency time was significantly longer after circumcision (P = 0.02). I assume they measured how long it took to masturbate to conclusion. Increasing mean ejaculatory latency during masturbation is an indication of loss of sensitivity. It also doesn't mean that they will 'last longer' during sex as sex involves a more complex system of stimulation and o…

They're trying to curb that problem in particular right now. Hm. The only real way they're going to accomplish that is by encouraging involved fatherhood. BTW, if a person is completely defined by her femaleness and her womb, then what else is she gonna do but pop out babies as soon as her womb starts working? We don't, as a society, think girls deserve the extra socialization--and thus widened horizons--that fathers represent as a matter of law and custom. So, why don't we just accept the conse…

Personally, I'd love to see a male host ask a female guest to flash her tits on a talk show. No one would be able to deny the hypocrisy of people's reactions. Well, to be fair, tits tend to be more erogenous then pecs. (They're not really, but people in our society seem to be under that impression.) So you'll have all the religious conservatives popping out of the woodwork and chirping about their eyes being burnt out of their sockets or something.

I'm saying if a woman is bothered by older men chasing after younger girls, what she needs to do is chase after younger guys. And make it something enticing for the younger guys. Be mysterious and rich and experienced and age extremely, extremely well. I believe the problem should not occur in the first place, so it's an issue of awareness, which is what I understand the artwork is trying to do. Again, if any of these 'rape awareness' campaigns ever raised awareness for female-on-male or female-on-female sexual abuse, I would not say that this was problematic. But they don't. Jeezus fucking christ. No I don't think girls being raped by adult men is solved through abortion. I think girls not wanting to be mothers is solved by abortion.
/r/MensRights18/11/11 03:26 AM

Some women don't interpret it that way, and I guess that's their choice. Well, you see, here is the issue. There's no point making a list of 'reasons to date a feminist' when feminists don't reliably do what you've put on your list. This is more of a 'here's a reason to date sondosia' list.
/r/MensRights18/11/11 02:13 AM

But little girls getting pregnant by adult men is a female problem only. It's a female-only problem with an actual solution. Abortion, abandonment, adoption. What is the solution for teenage boys who are forced into fatherhood by their rapists? And I do think it's possible to be both pro-boys protection and pro-girl's. I'd agree with you if I'd ever, in my many decades on this planet, saw an awareness campaign for sexual violence that addressed female-on-male victimization.

Then there's this study of juvenile detention centers: 95% of sexually abused youth in correctional facilities reported being abused by female staff. From Sexual Victimization in Juvenile Facilities, 2008-09 And this from a survey of homeless youth: 50% of homeless youth reported being sexually abused by a female. Actually some of the stories I've heard are truly appalling. Like attempted rape by an employer. Or completed rape by an employer. Or coerced sex by a teacher. I'm not actually talking about the women in power telling these guys 'oh, you look handsome in your new suit' or something. Most of these guys were dealing with full on rape or sexual assault.

So she can't even tell someone that she was attacked? Would we accept a man making the same excuse if he was attacked by a female youth? Like I said, if these women can't even do the job they shouldn't be in it. Being a woman isn't an 'get out of not doing your job' card. Or it shouldn't be.

Problem is that's not what it is. That's not going to happen because that's victim blaming and verboten in our society. BTW, if you're socialized to accept boundary violations from the opposite sex as 'harmless' then how can you really say you know if they're harmless or not? On the one hand, it's not like twenty-something year old women don't have relationships with teenagers. Sexual abuse of minor youth by adult female staff in juvenile facilities is endemic. 95% of sexually abused youth in correctional facilities reported being abused by female staff. From Sexual Victimization in Juvenile Facilities, 2008-09 But when you're the victim of a real attack, all that training and procedure goes out the window. Then women shouldn't be in this kind of work. Period.

A man is just as capable of tampering with a condom. Should the woman then be forced to bear this child that she never wanted? I assume that's why abortion is legal. It bothers me that a woman can be charged with statutory rape and make a plausible accusation of having been raped by the alleged victim. With zero evidence aside from her word. Lets assume a woman actually statutorily raped a boy under her care. And then countered with a claim of rape with zero evidence and subsequently either got off of the original charge or got her 'rapist' convicted. That leaves minors vulnerable to female ebophiles. Or, as SRS would say, female pedophiles.

Oh, fuck off. Oh my. One would think false accusations were a problem with the way you're reacting. "More accurate convictions" meaning "fewer inaccurate convictions". Not more convictions. Removing due process does not result in 'more accurate convictions' it results in more convictions. Generally, those victimized by thievery and embezzlement aren't going to try to protect the offender. lolwut? Oh, sorry. I suppose there's a step missing that I thought you'd fill in. Presumably the men in r/feminism are pro draconian legal measures in regards to those accused of rape. And I'm saying, men who are rapists are the ones most likely to support draconian punishments (and by extension legal measures) in regards to those accused of rape.

Yeah, this is why I love sharing my opinions in r/mensrights. Surely you're not upset at my false(well presumably) accusation? We're trying to make it better; in the sense of obtaining more accurate convictions. LOL, the unironic fascism. Rapists tend to be repeat offenders; so the most efficient way of catching them is reasoned to be by assembling a picture of the sexual history of those who are accused. Thieves, embezzlers and political dissidents are also often repeat offenders. By that logic…

Because men are the group of people who will actually conceivably be falsely charged with rape? Women generally don't have to be worried about being charged with rape even when they do, indeed, rape much less falsely charged. And /feminism won't be biased because of that fact?

Does that mean they often do? Harriet, I know you fuck little babies... you shove your oozing vagina all over their little mouths. Does it mean that the legal system is guilty of anti-male bias? Rape is the one crime in which we've seen fit to erode due process. All kinds of things apply to a charge of rape that do not apply to other crimes. Rape shield means the accuser is anonymous unlike any other crime, it also means her sexual history(including history of charging other men with rape falsel…

Well, the point is that men generally don't wear the provocative clothing that women do. Men are actually abiding by very restrictive clothing choices and no one seems to care about them 'ending up in a burqua.' poor guys on the streets of San Francisco. Funny how dressing to be sexually visible is seen as the purview of gay men. Straight men want to be sexually invisible it seems.

Okay, you made the assertion. Show me an anti-rape advertising campaign intended to bring awareness to rape using ads that actually use a non-worthy victim scenario. And not ad campaigns that are intended to bring awareness to sexual violence against women by showing how much more horrified we are when men are the victims. I know exactly what you mean. A campaign against crime that only had black criminals and white victims is certainly not stating something about the nature of crime itself, it's just bringing awareness to a certain type of crime. Hell if every campaign against crime depicted a black criminal and a white victim they're just bringing attention to that kind of crime, not making a statement about crime itself or deciding who are the worthy victims of crime!

In the UK they studied the problem for years and netted, from what I remember, about six potentially sex-trafficked women and girls. I still can't conceive that circumcision and FGM are on the same level. That's because one is done to a man (who you have trouble seeing as an emotional being who can be hurt) and the other happens to a woman (who you innately care about more.) You do this based on no actual evidence that one is worse then the other. It's very simple. You're morally bankrupt.
/r/MensRights29/10/11 03:43 PM

FGM is perfectly fine. Where the fuck did I say that? Here's a clue. If I say 'I think MGM is awful.' And you say 'But FGM is so much worse because it ends women's sexual sensation!' And I say 'That is completely unsupported by actual evidence.' The conclusion isn't 'rantgrrl must approve of FGM', the conclusion is 'all FUCKING GENITAL MUTILATION OF CHILDREN IS BAD, M'KAY?'

The distinction is generally made at the case level; case workers have to spend a lot of time actually differentiating between 'neglect' due to poverty and neglect due to abuse. Finding a source would take me a huge amount of time I do not have; I imagine if you did some research into the expectations put on CS workers, you would find a mention of how they have to differentiate the two types of 'neglect'.
/r/MensRights26/10/11 01:06 AM

No. The distinction is made in the reports because case workers distinguish between active neglect and neglect caused through passive circumstances, ie. parents who are impoverished.
/r/MensRights26/10/11 12:24 AM
-1

Neglect is not going to be as commonly associated with a conscious decision, thus time would play more of a factor. The kind of neglect that's associated with parental abuse not poverty isn't time dependant. It is a deliberate, active choice on the part of the parent to deny a child what he or she needs. For example, one child may be preferentially neglected while others receive the care they need or, alternatively, the mother will take care of herself and ignore the child's needs.

It may not be a large amount, but 10% of the people victimizing men in war zones are women(The real number is likely higher for reasons covered in the article.) 40% of the people sexually victimizing women in war zones are women. On top of that, I don't see what justifies a title that's so inflammatory. So is it 'inflammatory' to say that the rape of women is underreported? I don't mean to subtract the weight of the article, but there's a lot more work to be done before this headline would be relevant. Relevant to what?

The downvoting pattern is certainly odd in this thread. Ahem Fitness, femininity and appearance are vanity. They are 'shitty expectations' only insofar as any particular woman decides she will let them be. How does a woman indulging her vanity benefit anyone but herself? If a woman was, instantly, transformed into a super model would the world be better off? Would society? Would anyone but her be better off? The ideals that women are held to are self-centred; attaining them benefits no one but t…

Yes but... you can be sure when you refer to the word 'woman' you are referring to a person who is not socialized in the same way as a 'man' to ignore her personal needs. What do 'man up'; 'be a real man' and 'a man's gotta do' have in common? The actions they are intended to inspire are not expected of women. AS A WHOLE.

From the comments: It can all go back to the way it was. Not only can it, it will. Eventually this culture is going to go broke. At that point women will be given a choice between security and freedom. They will choose security. They will choose security right back into the kitchen. This is because feminism has done nothing to change women's socialization. Women still see themselves as victims, they still see themselves as things that are acted upon and they still make decisions based on fear. W…

What they've found is that non-custodial(sex undetermined) parents are more likely to falsely accuse then custodial(sex undetermined) parents. And then they assumed based on statistics that the falsely accusing non-custodial parents were men. Right now I'm reminded of the discussion I had with a pro-lynching advocate on here (s/he would probably call her/himself a 'anti-rape advocate' but I prefer accuracy). In other words when no one in society believes a man accused of rap…

One of the main things that the men's rights movement has to fight against is the absolute monopoly women have on morality. Women are seen as the centres of decency and civility while men are vicious brutes orbiting the outskirts of humanity. Occasionally they are brought in by the hand and 'civilized' by women, but otherwise they're just animals. Men's rights opens up a space that opposes this belief system and, very occasionally, questions its foundations. In that sense the creation and preser…

Husbands of employed wives should make an extra effort to honor the sacrifices their wives are making taking on full responsibility for household finances. Here are some tips: Have dinner ready. The first piece is a fake. http://www.snopes.com/language/document/goodwife.asp Ignore the sanctimonious crap at the end. You'll see that the shit they post in their 'dos' and 'don'ts' isn't sourced. (And half of it amounts to 'don't abuse your husband' reframed as some horrible MISOGYNY.) The original piece is a fake. A complete fake. The response? Is not fake. It actually represents the gendercidal attitudes of an academic. I wonder what our descendants will think of it.

This is the closest father's rights organizations I could find: http://www.fathers4kids.com/html/Home.htm It's in Dallas. Call them NOW. They may be able to find you some temporary accommodation with your son. Also, apply for a restraining order immediately. Do not let her alone with your son. These kinds of women go from jilted to homicidal in a split second. If you were an abused women in my neck of the woods you could get her evicted, seize her assets and have free rent. Actually, I don't have a problem with the sex offenders registry. Maybe that's the issue here. I pointed out the sex offenders registry because it was another thing that's a 'life sentence.' I have a problem with how it is applied selectively to men rather then women and how it is applied to people(mostly men) who should not be on it.

I think people would be benefited more if we supported fatherhood and made fathers feel valuable to their children. That would require, first and foremost, making a father's relationship with his child the child's property, and not the mother's. Also, if you like communal living, consider this. The ascendancy of female rights has come with it a laser like focus on the individual and a erosion of family co-hesion (I'm guessing the original Christians would be pretty pleased with this; they weren'…

Or perhaps the women who get to go off and be magazine editors, software engineers, scientists, and professors, rather than sitting at home cleaning up cheerios will be seen as the ones who are "winning." Babies develop inside the mother. The patriarchal framing of child birth is that the father supplies everything, the mother just supplies the 'soil'. Obviously in this framing the father supplies the foreskin as well as everything else. Patriarchs started it and made sure other men conformed. How did they start it? How did they convince men to abandon their own self interest?

/r/MensRights08/10/11 08:44 PM

30% of abused children go on to abuse; there are more abusive men then abusive women. Therefore, unless you're going to argue that some people abuse just because, more men must have been abused in order for more men to have become abusers. If there are 30 male abusers and 15 female abusers, assuming that 30% of abused children go on to abuse (and abusers are only drawn from the population of abused children) then 100 men had to have been abused versus 50 women.
/r/MensRights08/10/11 07:00 PM

How is it possible that more female children are abused yet more males abuse yet abused children are the ones who go on to abuse? Doesn't that heavily imply that every male abuser was once an abused child himself? And if there are more male abusers, by definition, there are more abused males?
/r/MensRights08/10/11 06:41 PM

Why? Soldiers do stupid shit to get out of service for whatever reason all the time. Getting pregnant is probably the easiest and least difficult to pull off. Unless you think women are somehow exempt from regretting their decisions or wanting to improve their situation, then why would you need proof? Would you also need proof were I to say, 'some male soldiers have faked PSTD to get out of service?'

Nope. She is supporting rape culture. Let's imagine we live in bizarro world where our attitudes towards rape are inverted. Let's further imagine we have a man who supports the implicit assumption that rape is gendered, ie. that it only exists, only exists to a level of significance, or only matters when it's female-on-male. Let's further suggest that this man supports an attitude that women are responsible for rape, that women rape due to social attitudes instilled in them regarding femininity.…

I think you're getting to the real root of it. Being able to say 'all men are pigs' is an acceptable expression of racism, classism and homophobia. Fondue, calm down. When society sees men in terms of their agency, they see men as being able to 'deal with it' and if they can't then the men in question simply disappear from society's sight. It's like there's a man's agency and then there's a man. Society is capable of perceiving a man when he acts, but the man himself? Invisible. Biologists are very clear on one point: studying an animal's behavior in captivity is not a substitute for studying its behavior in the wild. In fact biologists are very aware that the study of captive animals can distort our understanding of the behavior of their wild counterparts. I suspect the second is more likely. Indeed. Feminists rather arbitrarily believe that men prevented women from contributing to society in positive ways. Thus men prevented women from turning into the very thing feminists oppose the most--patriarchs.

That doesn't describe any male feminists I know. Because if they were driven by a desire to pin their own sexually exploitative behavior on all men instead of taking personal responsibility for it, they would have the insight and the honesty to tell you about it. I didn't say that all feminist men were motivated by a desire to project their own moral failings on all men in order to avoid personal responsibility... However... This stat is complete bullshit. If someone is charged with rape they are arrested until they can pay bail. Therefore right off the bat 51% of people accused of rape have spent time in jail. Further rape convictions are in line with most other crimes and their reporting rate is similar to other violent crimes. This isn't a good thing. Why? Because the only evidence for rape is also evidence for a consensual activity. Therefore in order for us to be convicting as many people accused of rape as we …

All for something that should have never been a crime to begin with," Prather added. Er... having sex with someone who isn't conscious is rape. Do you even care how this makes you look? lolwut? I am talking about a specific double standard. You have decided to ignore the global definition you asked of me, however. The double standard is this: A ritual nick or pinprick of a girl's genitals is banned in the US while cutting off parts of a boy's genitals is acceptable. Discussing the relative severity of any other form of MGM or FGM is irrelevant to this double standard. There is no way that nicking or pin pricking a girl's genitals is worse then cutting off flesh from a boy's.

None of those support the assertions you made. Many of the sentences in that are simply false. Nope. Most crime is black-on-black and there is more black-on-white crime then white-on-black. In this case, gender explains crime, it's appropriate. Let me introduce you to a basic concept in science. Causation versus Correlation. Show me a model that explains male aggression better than a gender model and I'm all ears. Socialization to consider your gender identity contingent upon competition with other members of your own gender. Intra-gender ag…

Crime statistics show that blacks assault whites at twice the rate that whites assault blacks for the same crimes. Blacks are also responsible for almost all crimes committed against whites, whileas almost all crime committed against blacks are by other blacks. How else can we conceptualize that than a black aggressor model? Blacks do not only overwhelmingly aggress against whites, but they also overwhelmingly aggress against each other and commit almost all crime.

This woman engaged in exhibitionism in front of a class of children. I don't think that's 'sex abuse hysteria', it's actual abuse.
/r/MensRights19/09/11 04:17 PM
2

So are you critical of the incident itself or the article that reported it? I find what the teacher did to be exhibitionism thus sexual abuse of her students. It sounds like you're making up scenarios to get upset about, e.g., if they did x there would be outrage. I think they omitted mention of getting boy's consent for the reason that it runs counter to our narrative about sex. We don't have to worry about boy's consent because, well, they're boys, they're always up for it.

All the money and time you and others have already invested in this will be wasted. The test is both voluntary and the costs have to be covered by the person doing it. Thus the only people doing it are ones who honestly believe they will get a return on their investment, ie. proof that the child is theirs. I imagine, in a situation where the man really knew he wasn't the father, he would attempt to game the system rather then submit to it. Thus 'immigration fraud' would tend towards introducing …

So what do you think the relative social weight of woman's suffering is compared to men? I'm thinking it's about a thousand to one. If a thousand men suffer something, no one gives a shit, but if one woman does...
/r/MensRights19/09/11 03:34 PM

Okay, here's the thing. You're a person trying to commit immigration fraud. You know that you are not the father. Do you submit to a method which is guaranteed to exclude you as the father when you know you are not the father? Only if you're a fucking idiot. The guys submitting to the test are not doing so because they think they aren't the father; they're doing so because they think they are.

The first time it's referenced to get women's consent it isn't presented as a question but a general guideline. If there was a corresponding guideline that a girl can 'touch a boy's penis with his consent' I'm sure they would have mentioned it in the article because it's even more scandalous then the reverse.

DNA screening for immigration purposes is usually intended to prevent the practice of claiming someone else's kids are your own just to get them into the country--immigrants are tested to verify familial relationships if there is no other credible proof (in other words, when the claim is suspect to begin with). Let's start with a cite.

I don't care what gender they are adults have no business vomiting their sexuality all over children.

Let me bold the relevant bit that you seem to have missed: DPNB was the most frequently studied intervention and was the most effective for circumcision pain. Compared to placebo, EMLA was also effective, but was not as effective as DPNB. Both interventions appear to be safe for use in newborns. None of the studied interventions completely eliminated the pain response to circumcision.

it will not make a difference if you have a penis or a vagina. You don't understand. When something happens it only really happens to vaginas. It's impossible for something to happen to a penis, because peni do things; vaginas have things done to them. Remember that simple duality. Vaginas have things done to them; penises do things. Therefore men can't suffer from financial woes, climate change or food crises. Because peni can't be acted upon like vaginas.

Not really a strawman, just not accurate. Dogs have a penis sheath. Humans have a foreskin because the human penis is absolutely unique among mammals in terms of being always external and very much on display. Sort of like how human breasts are always 'engorged'. On the one hand I know that in certain sexual situations I freeze dead (luckily not with men) however I also believe that it's a person's responsibility not to bait someone into a sexual situation they don't want and I include women(or men) who are incapable of clearly articulating lack of consent in that. And there are some people who are extremely quiet and still during sex. Finding out you've accidental…

These men are called 'villains' and when they make women cry it's called a 'drama' and usually ends with some hero's foot up their ass. And I just thought, 'Well, it's not always like that.' This is irrelevant. You expressed disbelief over #3 and I explained that, yes, from what I can tell it is common to believe that a child abused by a female adult is often asked what they did to deserve it, or point blank told that they must have done something to deserve it. That pedistalization of mothers? Very powerful.

Again, you already have the sex offender registry. Government sanctioned, supported and often sex offenders are obligated to inform prospective neighbors and employers of their status. In addition to alerts that are sent out to colleges, universities, etc. whenever a sex offender is released or moves in the vicinity. If you feel this isn't sufficient, feel free to start your own website chronicling male sex offenders.

But, in all likelihood, this woman will get a shorter sentence then the boyfriend who 'instigated' it (I highly doubt if he did instigate it he instigated it without a prior sense that she would be into it.) She'll also most definitely get a lighter sentence then a man who raped a 10 month old. That's where the misandry is.

But, like I said, even if you assume it's true, it doesn't make any sense. If abusive fathers are getting custody now then a presumption of shared parenting won't change that, it may, in fact, make that situation better for women because abused mothers won't be losing custody.

“Abusive fathers are far more likely than nonabusive parents to fight for child custody, not pay child support, and kidnap children.” What's the logic here? If a man, in a marriage, is happy spending only a day or so's worth of his time out of every 28 on his kids, would she call him a 'good parent' or a neglectful one? But a man who accepts spending a day or so's worth of time out of every 28 on his kid upon divorce suddenly becomes a good father? And guys who aren't happy with that are abusive…

Let me put it this way. Repealing the 19th amendment is not likely to happen in our society. Our society would have to crumble into ash and be replaced, likely with a much more authoritarian, probably theocratic society. /r/MensRights06/09/11 08:59 PM

Well, luckily for you the family courts are biased towards your less abusive parent. Now let's reimagine the situation with an abusive, neglectful mother who gets custody and child support and spends it on herself. Or doesn't get custody and is far less likely to pay any child support on average then a non-custodial father. To be honest our system rewards men like your father who don't give a shit about their kids while punishing men who do.
/r/MensRights06/09/11 07:52 PM

So... States get a dollar for every CS dollar collected... But where do the matching federal funds come from? Tax payers? So tax payers are paying for other people's children. This system... I am not defending it; I'm saying it is ambiguous thus cannot be compared to the first ad. If the intent was to portray man-on-woman DV the second ad still doesn't imply it's was the woman's fault she was hit. Or that DV is acceptable against women.
/r/MensRights06/09/11 05:22 PM

Guys generally get freaked out by predators too. Statistically they are more likely to be physically assaulted. (Don't know about stranger-on-stranger sexual assault because men just don't report.) As for date rape, there are stats that indicate it is equal opportunity. Men should be more concerned about being a rape victim; and women should be more concerned about being rapists.

I'm going to break your brain even more. The average person's consent is contingent on the consent of their partner. Most people aren't interested in rape, they're interested in consensual sex and avoid rape. Thus being led into raping is being led into a sexual act they did not consent to. So if two drunk people fuck, one says it's rape, then the other's consent is withdrawn retroactively because they were forced into engaging in a sexual practice they did not consent to. Thus it's rape all the…

Stop having sex with this woman yesterday. The worst fucking mistake men make is continuing to have a sexual relationship with a woman they do not want to have kids with. Every time you are about to have sex with her, imagine her with your five year old kid that you have to pay for but can't see.

You are mashing up all sorts of stuff here. Are we talking about Common Law marriage, are we talking about Coverture? Are we talking about the Renaissance? Are we talking about Victorian England? The High middle ages? What? Did you know that it was coverture that instituted the idea that a woman's person becomes subsumed into that of her husband? And that was after common law that held men and women, even in marriage, to be somewhat separate legal entities? I'll address one massive factual error…

but making misandry the big ticket issue in this story is just stupid. WTF? This wouldn't have happened if this was a girl and not a boy. This is a double standard that very negatively impacts men. Do you hold this standard for anything that negatively impacts women more?
/r/MensRights31/08/11 05:18 PM

Making this a gender issue detracts from the larger issue at hand of sexual abuse. This is utter bullshit. Men have been demonized as sexual predators for how many years now? And women have been cast as their victims. Pushing back against the tainting of male sexuality and the excusing of female sexual predators is an important issue in and of itself.

Of course misandry and misogyny can't co-exist. It's umpossible. in order to make their message appealing to female parishioners That's interesting. Because the church congregation has been female dominated for centuries. Did you ever conceive that maybe this alpha male of the flock thing is actually attractive to women, and not so much to the large number of men who are inevitably not the alpha male? Also the man being the head of the family means, in practice, that he's made responsible for hi…

Incidentally a lot of male soldiers are raped and coerced, yet we still expect them to be responsible for their crimes.

Actually, girls had their own initiations as well. Usually it involved a long period of meditation in seclusion after their first period. (And if anyone doesn't think this was a trial, it's actually very similar to some of the final 'tests' a buddhist monk goes through after he's trained for years. Sitting by yourself in isolation is hard work.) But European colonialists thought that was barbaric to do to the precious flowers of womanhood and stopped it in many cases. The boys getting their hand…

You're being stupid. You honestly don't believe that the reaction would be different had a bunch of frat brothers duct tapped a girl to a chair and raped her with a dildo? (Or even took peeks at her junk while shoving a dildo in her face, which is the 'milder' interpretation of this event.) Hell, everyone went nuts a while back when a bunch of frat boys just shouted 'no means yes, yes means anal' at the women's center of a university.

Mitch says that when he was a young boy, one of his baby-sitters, a teenager, “did things” to him—that she forced him to strip and inserted various and sundry objects into his anus, among them, a marble, a penny and a buttonhook. Did that do it? Did that make him angry at women, and teenage women in particular, and establish, in his innocent libido, the anus as the seat of stimulation? I dunno. Maybe?

The fact that it happens less doesn't make it any less serious. If you think I'm attempting "minimization" of female-on-male rape because I pointed out that it's far less common, than you are completely misinterpreting what I'm saying. The fact that it doesn't happen as often does not diminish its seriousness in any way, it merely diminishes its prevalence. I dunno. I think that historically 'anti-female' laws are no justification for creating or maintaining current anti-male laws (or practices). But there actually isn't as much female-on-male rape as there is male-on-female rape, male-on-male rape, or even female-on-female rape. And here you go, minimization. The statistic you base this assertion on, from the NVAWS, didn't even count most forms of female-on-male sexual assault. The other statistics that suggest greater levels of male-on-female rape have been found to be faulty in detecting male victimization. Feminists say that men being raped by women is different then women being raped by men because of... patriarchy. (Also, one of their big advocacy numbers that compare the rate of rape of men to the rate of rape of women excludes almost all female-on-male rape.) In fact I read one feminist piece that suggested men being raped by women was perhaps a good thing because then men would have access to the female experience of disempowerment. Indulging hypotheticals and forgetting isms for a minute, If no females on the earth believed that males could be rape victims, males should still care about female rape victims because we know that females can be rape victims. A man came onto a woman at work. She declined. That's it. If she was right and men in her profession really thought they could do what they wanted, when they wanted and were answerable only to themselves then he would have had sex with her regardless of her consent. He did not. Therefore her premise is invalidated by her own experience.

I agree with your post except for this: Fatherhood, for the most part, is a social construct created by humans. Fatherhood is definitely not a social construct; you're actually putting the cart before the horse here. Involved fathers are why we are able to create modern society. Humans evolved to need involved fathers; and, in fact, men evolved to be hormonally primed to be fathers. Fatherhood made us human.

Though the act of sex with a woman isn't what does it-what makes a guy a "man" is when his buddies find out. Women, of course, never virgin-shame inexperienced guys. Nor do they judge them less worthy as sexual partners. Nor do they ever suggest a male virgin is not a man. It is other men who pressure us to perform "manhood" through feats of bravery, loyalty, and recklessness. Women, of course, never pressure men to perform "manhood" or hold men up to an impossible standard of agency. It's telli…
