I agree with this sentiment and again I’m not trying to get out of my responsibilities by any means. The big issue I have is past and recent comments about only getting daycare out of spite and quote “Getting the most expensive and high quality” she can find to financially hurt me. She has been using the threat of expensive daycare, and fighting hard for higher child support as a means of trying to force me into a 70/30. She has stated if I agree to a 70/30 she won’t need childcare and will cut …

That’s a stupid statement, we have family members more than willing to watch our child at no charge which benefits our child having a family member watch them over a stranger and saves us parents from a crippling financial obligation. So because my ex refuses to allow a family member to watch our child and instead wants to put our child in a daycare during her time I should agree to shoulder the cost and have our child in daycare as well during my scheduled time even though I don’t need it? We h…

I’m hoping and fighting for 50/50 and I feel I have a good chance if not atleast getting a 60/40. My thoughts are if we have family willing to watch her for free can that be a factor? And how is it fair if I don’t have a say in what daycare it ends up being? My ex has said repeatedly she’s going to try and break me financially by being uncompromising on getting the most expensive schools, extra curriculars, etc.

Damn bro I feel for you, that is majorly ass backwards you have the actual physical ability to watch her but your spiteful ex is throwing up her middle finger and asking you to pay more than half on top of that. I’d be sick with that situation and fight it hard.

Brother I’m literally in the exact same boat as you are, ex is trying to force me into a 70/30 gaslighting me into keeping status quo calling me crying and emotional saying it’s what best for our child and I’m a selfish monster if I don’t agree with her. When things don’t go her way she immediately flips to being openly aggressive and threatening. Biggest piece of advice that took me awhile to actually head and enforce was DON’T TALK WITH HER, settle for nothing less than 50/50 and let your lawy…

Yep, sounds like your in the same boat as me. Not sure about Virginia but Florida is a default 50/50 state and I hope Virginia is similar because it gives the fathers a little more of a fighting chance. Document everything and never back down or give an inch because they’ll take a mile and make you claw back anything you want.

I was kicked out of the house after a dispute and not offered/allowed to come back until a few days later which by that time I had filed. I have it documented extensively where I asked for longer visits and to take our child with me to spend time with them. My STBX refused to let me have our child more then an hour or so a day and continually shot down my ask by stating she was waiting to see what her lawyer would say and we needed to wait for mediation etc.

Florida is a default 50/50 judgement state, I feel like if I were to agree to her 70/30 parenting plan in her favor it will be super difficult for me to ask for 50/50 in the future. Even if there’s something in our parenting plan about not moving out of state or that we agree on 50/50 when our child starts school she is the type of person I do not trust to honor her word. I really feel like she will either try to leave the state and use the fact that she has 70% physical custody in her favor or …
