Well I guess that’s one way for them to even out the violent crime stats.

Ah yes, the fringe cult known for following the tradition of a website that had a schism because some of their members were deemed too homophobic, actively outing gay men who were married to women, and had said members openly supporting a woman who raped an Australian boy on the website they migrated to. ...Y’know what yeah, these guys would fit right in stateside.

The thing that personally annoys me the most is that they have the fucking cheek to act like they’re staying in their own lane and the lack of support is on account of men’s inaction. I fucking WISH that were the case, sincerely, because then we wouldn’t even have to pay them any mind to begin with.

Sooooo where are the feminists pushing for men’s DV shelters to get government funding? Where are the feminists pushing to have rape laws be gender neutral? Where are the feminists pushing to undo the horrific demonisation of black men by racist criminologists that paint them as uncontrollable brutes? Because I can very fucking easily point you to examples of them actively resisting the first two, and in the latter case being key contributors.

So what you’re saying is women are two-faced shrews who we should treat with suspicion and go out of our way to tame? See how quickly I can spin this shit around? It ain’t as cute as you think if you were to ever take the time to follow that thinking to its conclusion.

Y’know something I think is worth noting is that last one and how it mentions radfems being laser focused on women’s shelters. I just want you guys to bear that one in mind when it comes to the points we’ve raised about radfem ideology being a major barrier to male IPV victims getting their due support: they’re admitting it themselves.

I think what he’s referring to is that the obfuscation of female perpetrators gives them cover to perform such acts. Which, let’s be clear, is entirely in line with the finding that hostile gender attitudes for men AND women alike is associated with sexually coercive behaviour.

There’s also the fact that you would have to be a very special kind of pervert to go through the absolute grinding HELL that is medical school -particularly if we’re talking the United States- just for some promise of professional voyeurism (which I’m pretty sure even then is a grossly reductive way of talking at gynaecology, a whole other can of worms). Like I’m reasonably certain the kind of creeps who are after that are probably not going to want to put themselves through that when there are …

Of all the demographics to talk about when it comes to petty sexism... your first impulse is black men? Despite being a majority-Democrat voting demographic? I could be mistaken, but I believe it’s been mentioned that the marginal pro-Trump increase is because less black men are interested in electoral politics these days. And considering how much shit they get, who can be surprised?

Definitely worth having a peek. It’s perhaps a bit bold for me to say but I think there’s a good chance details like this can go some way to explaining for instance why self-reported perpetration rates are so disparate, despite things like the NISVS reports putting men who are MTP (with the majority being women as we know) at parity with women who’ve been raped.

A couple papers I’d recommend checking out (assuming you haven’t already) are Theresa Gannon and Emma Alleyne’s paper “Female Sexual Abusers’ Cognition: A Systematic Review” as well as as Elizabeth Schatzel-Murphy’s dissertation “Are Sexually Coercive Women Hyperfeminine?” Basically these two papers go in-depth about different aspects of sexually abusive behaviour from women and found that things like emphasis on passivity are pretty consistent correlates. I’d also throw in Hines’ paper “Predict…

Something else I think is worth mentioning is that the disparity in reporting could also be down to a difference in cognition. Female sexual abusers of men and boys alike are known to employ mental schemas that downplay their predatory behaviour and stress the idea of male threat.

Ironically misandrists are basically doing the work of Victorian-style paternalistic types for them. Seriously, how does it not occur to them that this culture of paranoia is basically the same shit used to levy against women and assert they’re too fragile for the wider world without us men to chaperone them etc. just coming from inside the house? The long-term implications seriously do not point in the direction that they think it does.

The men and boys murdered at Srebrenica would like a word. Or indeed just about any victims of genocide, seeing as how outgroup males are disproportionately targeted for such acts. Not quite sure how much more oppressive you can get than systematic slaughter.

I get where you’re coming from, but if you’ll permit me a moment’s candour, I think you’re thinking a bit too far ahead. Nominally yes, I would agree that looking at the disparity in how the criminal justice system treats these crimes depending on the perpetrator is the more important factor. What I’m noticing however is that we have a hard time even demonstrating that women do these things to begin with. The Overton Window on this stuff has been pulled THAT far against men that a woman can toss…

Till is... unfortunately having his name be all but outright defiled. I really hate to say it but I’ve seen far, FAR too many try to diminish Carolyn Bryant’s malice recently. It’s actually quite fucking sickening how much grace she’s been given these past few months.

In all fairness, you’re not wrong by any means, but I would contend that it seems to be falling somewhat flat. As is the case with misandrists, the goal posts only ever keep shifting to try and maintain this idea of a specific kind of male depravity, pointing to very extreme cases as if it’s somehow representative. I think this is something we really need to be able to tackle head on, because the fact is that raw numbers alone can still be excused and rationalised away.

Aight y’know what? How ‘bout we clap back with the amount of reported cases of female teachers raping boys over the course of just last year? Surely someone’s gotta have kept track of that by now, since it seems to be there’s a headline every other fucking week.

In a word: yes. Although the long answer is... messy. I'll point to a few papers of note that paint an interesting picture that, simply put, demonstrate that predictors of sexual abuse between men and women are not that divergent on the whole. Gannon's paper Female Sexual Abuser' Cognition: A Systematic Review goes over a few papers that... well, look at characteristics of women who sexually offend. I will preface that it DOES refer to papers which make use of the IAT, and I know that's a can of…

I need to make something very clear for people since I don’t know if it quite registers: this person is a potential predator. Things like hyping up men’s capacity for threat and diminishing women’s ability to threaten/force someone into sex (essentially adherence to stereotypes) are actual behaviours found to be associated with women who engage in sexual abuse, as indicated by the likes of Theresa Gannon et al. If anyone’s curious I can provide papers that delve into this but please, if you see …

What’s seriously annoying about this is that none of this actually resolves the real, material problems driving India’s violence rates like the fact that a lot of people in the country are dirt fucking poor and beholden to a government that genuinely does not give a shit about them. Poverty and violence are well-established correlates, but Heaven forfend that we do anything other than use gender relations as a wedge.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/09/24 08:18 PM

This is why I don’t take anyone seriously when they say feminism is necessary in India. If you can look at shit like this and call it a good thing under any possible circumstance then I seriously have to call your moral compass into question.

Futrelle’s kind of an infamous hackjob who would give Michael Flood a run for his money when it comes to intellectual dishonesty. Started making circles round hear thanks to a Wordpress blog called “Linear Thinker” that dissected the sheer quantities of bullshit he peddles when it comes to IPV data.

I think it’s also worth considering the context this arose from. Not to say he hasn’t flown off the handle, but his rise came at just the time when we were seeing the influx of doublespeak where open misandrist sentiment was coupled with handwavey statements about how feminists are actually concerned about men. In many cases coming from people who had some level of prominence in these spaces. But I think it’s also emblematic of how much brainrot this kinda thing inflicts that… really, a lot of t…

Well that’s funny. Isn’t it an extremely common refrain, when American men point out how many political rights are hidden behind selective service, they get told it doesn’t matter because it’s SO unlikely that they’ll be called upon? And yet when something like this happens it causes a furore. Now I wouldn’t want to imply dishonesty, but…

One thing I would say, as u/Prudent_Medicine_857 rightly points out, is that crime data isn’t bulletproof. Particularly when it comes to sex crime statistics, as Franca Cortoni pointed out (I’ll link the paper if you’re interested), there is a VERY tangible discrepancy when it comes to female sex offenders listed in crime stats vs. clinical studies on the issue. Also worth bearing in mind the lifetime stats thing, as I’m sure you know they aren’t immune to outside bias on account of it being cro…

What stands out to me most about this article and the fact that so much defence is being played for it... they literally cannot get past the same old shit that’s been talked about in internet spaces for over a literal decade now. Trust me when I say it ain’t that wild when you remember that feminism as a broader institution is obsessed with maintaining as squeaky-clean an image as possible. Anything short of absolute concession that they’re in some roundabout way in the right is grounds for excommunication.

It’s also telling that not only her but several copycats are doing their best to lawyer up preemptively. They might hide it under a pretence of frivolity but I think at this point anyone with a brain knows that these things are one big defamation lawsuit away from getting struck down by a gavel. And considering how... to put it nicely, reckless they are about fact-checking, yeah I think we can expect a court case to happen sooner rather than later.

Y’know I sometimes get flack for saying the lesbian community is plagued by an unwillingness to call out the vitriol and paranoia towards men that sits beneath, and that it generally gets very little scrutiny compared to other facets of the queer community at large. I can’t say this changed my mind any.

The Duluth Model is like many a figure of speech: the meme has proliferated to such a vast extent that comparatively few know of its origin or the context it arose from. What we call “the Duluth Model” is simply the prevailing form by which domestic violence is perceived on the whole, and it’s actually created an interesting little conundrum for feminists BECAUSE so few generally know of the root of the “gender paradigm.” If you’ll indulge me for a sec... It’s actually AGAINST feminism’s interes…

The high school assembly, the fucking newspaper article asking how we can prevent boys being made into monsters, now this. I don’t exactly enjoy using the word “cucked” but this is getting ridiculous even by the already low bar in place. But I shouldn’t be surprised when the likes of Michael Flood are considered foremost experts.

I’m gonna be honest, Coffin is really just emblematic of the long-standing vitriol towards and sheer paranoia of men that has run unabated through lesbian communities that everyone is way too scared to call out. Radfems have been using lesbian separatism as a front for decades and it’s treated like this taboo to call out ‘cos it makes lesbians look bad or something, not realising that this shit regularly smears their image in the mainstream press. Case in point: Julie Bindel.

To be fair, in the case of Hiccup (if we’re talking about the totality of the Dragons franchise, so the TV shows etc. as well as the films), Hiccup’s journey involves a lot of emphasis on his role as a leader DEMANDING that he be a team player and compromise with his peers by comparison to Stoick’s more stubborn nature as more of a ”commander” well before he became a chieftain - even if in the end Hiccup’s father always meant well.

Yeah, I had the... misfortune of discovering the divestor community and my heart sincerely goes out to you buggers for having THAT shit to deal with. Closest I can figure is that it seems to be connected to Michelle Wallace and her landmark text Black Macho and the Myth of the Superwoman... a text which has essentially a bloody recantation of the damned thing as a foreword in the 1996 edition published by Verso, by the way. She seems to be at the heart of the whole “black men fought for emancipa…

If I were to throw my own hat into the ring, I’m actually going to argue that yes, most are. Because it’s just baked into the literature from its earliest days. From Liz Stanton to Michelle Wallace, you are seldom (if ever) going to see a big-name feminist author whose writings don’t present themselves as some kind of exposé of a defect in men’s nature, be they white, black, Hispanic, whatever. And indeed some, such as bell hooks, have been discovered to be so opportunistic as to draw on racist …

And if we’re to consider the analyses of Dr. Tommy J Curry and co. some of those black feminists (including Angela Davis, bell hooks and Michelle Wallace) basically wound up playing the part of COINTELPRO or deriving their writings from racist criminological theories to sabotage Black Power movements of the time.

At least in the case of the UK the biggest confounding variable appears to be the attrition rates, essentially those reports that don’t follow through to court action. And the thing is that it’s pretty much an open-ended answer right now as to why, because it could pretty much be down to a mish-mash of procedural problems AND malicious actors trying to game the system. Seems to be near impossible to know with much clarity if police biases are at play or not. And then on the other hand we get int…

Is anyone really surprised by this? This is just bog standard orientalist-style bollocks that’s been going on since at least the 19th Century. Just replace “Dominican” with “somewhere in the Middle-East” and you’ve got a good chunk of pulpy romance schlock summed up from the Victorian era.

Honestly the duality I see with how gay men are treated borders on the obscene: somehow they’re simultaneously less of a perceived threat on account of the issue surrounding the idea of gay men being “feminised” and then also still seen as a premier threat in queer spaces because... well, men. It’s like, for all the dressing up they like to do around the issue, the same narratives that have seen gay men persecuted, castrated and outright killed really are not any less pervasive. They’re just dre…

I ain’t arguing against it, but I will say it’s something we should be prepared to expect. Indeed this isn’t especially new; depending on who you ask folks like Paul Elam, Rick Bradford (or William Collins) Peter Wright and maybe even Karen Straughan haven’t been especially shy about being of a more cynical flavour, albeit perhaps to varying extents, compared to someone like Warren Farrell. Late as fuck to this party but I wanted to pitch in. I think what we’re seeing, and I’ll fully concede I’ve been guilty of this myself, is a certain degree of jadedness that has put a lot of men’s activists into a bit of a rut. This isn’t so much an excuse as it is an (attempted) explanation. Think of it this way: we had a BIG win afforded to us after literal decades of uphill battles with Johnny Depp’s triumph in court; we FINALLY had a clear-cut, definitive, high-profile example of a woman act…

But at the same time I’m too jaded to scold any man who does because I would be lying if I said I didn’t “get it.” Whether or not it’s bound to change with a push for something more unifying like class as opposed to these gendered pillars... OK, so... you’ll have to bear with me here because I got a lot on my mind about this notion. So, from a historical perspective I can understand that - from the writings of Michael George to Elizabeth Katz the rationale existed as a sort of... weird contradiction where a husband should be able to restrain such behaviour, being deemed a catastrophic failure of his duties as a leader if he should “let” himself be victimised. Or, lemme put it another way, that isn’t targeted and stamped down on with such relentless zeal that the fallout from it would make the Chernobyl Liquidators sweat buckets? Have there been any examples of these kinds of RP/BP social experiments getting outed as fraudulent? If there’s a paper trail for such sleight of hand it’d be good to have it on record, considering how much of this kinda relies on taking it at face value.

If they didn’t keep track of how many rejections vs hits they got then doesn’t that present a massive problem with how legitimate we can call this experiment? I mean if this is such a major finding then you’d hope the methodology is near-airtight. Otherwise we could very well just chock it up to selectiveness on what gets shown, assuming all the interactions are legit.

Might not necessarily be stats on exactly the topic at hand but you may find this paper to be of interest. It’s essentially a review of gender differences in prosocial behaviour and argues that the “men help less” thing is more because listings of prosocial behaviour actually often exclude masculine variants due to a focus on the... shall we say conventional wisdom surrounding empathy (which is more associated with women), combined with what appears to be a strong pressure to conform to stereoty…

Yeah, I’ll admit that I genuinely don’t know for sure what the situation is there. Even Starr’s paper, as incisive as it is, doesn’t do a brilliant job in actually delineating when it comes to offences like murder. That is one big flaw that I tend to see pop up, with most of the discussion around more... specific legal responses to violent crimes (at least from what I’ve seen so far) generally tying more to DV, assault and sex crimes than anything else. The only thing I really have that could at…

Capital offences are something I’m a bit murky on. Berdejó’s 2019 paper on plea bargaining disparities states that this doesn’t apply really to higher-level offences, at least if the defendants have no prior criminal history (which I will say is something a lot of these studies don’t do an especially good job on delineating). But some stuff that’s at least worth considering would be papers like Shatz et al 2012, which found a disparity in use of the death penalty for male and female offenders, w…

Well, I can point to a few cases that might be worth discussion. For DV, probably the most noteworthy paper is Daniel Whittaker et al’s 2007 paper (made quite the media storm back in the day). Basic findings were: about a quarter of the sample were violent relationships in some capacity, 50% reciprocal, and of the nonreciprocal half women initiated violence 70% of the time. There is a bit of a hidden layer to the violent crimes aspect, and that’s that the justice system treats women CONSIDERABLY more leniently to the point that it would almost seem absurd, all the way down to arrest rates. Sonja Starr’s 2012 paper is perhaps the most well known study on the disparities of criminal sentencing, but the research long predates her (i.e. Cassia Spohn) and this even extends to sex offenders (see basically anything written by Myriam Denov on the subject or Shields and Coc…

This whole thing about “lethal methods” is a half-truth at best that was dissected years ago by Cibis et al in 2011: they looked at suicide reports in two German cities and found that, while there is considerably greater usage of more lethal methods in the male sample, within every cohort except for ONE (drowning), more men completed a suicide attempt. From hanging to pill overdoses. This is also compounded by Freeman et al’s 2017 paper on suicidal intent, and it’s as clear as day: men are more …

Not quite mostly, but if we’re talking about the... I think it was the 2012 NISVS that this claim often comes from, then it was about a third reported a sole male perpetrator, but there wasn’t any distinction between that and violence in actual lesbian relationships in the finalised stats for... some reason.

Tin’s sentiment is one I echo, but I would personally push a little bit harder on this if I were in his shoes; because we’re apologising for stuff that either doesn’t happen, never happened, did happen but with several caveats, or occurs at rates with such frequency between men and women but is spun into yet another “women most affected.” Apologies only then legitimise the barely coherent morass of half-truths, inferences and downright LIES that feminism has so firmly rooted itself in that it co…

In the end they know the answer is “fuck all.” Feminism has become deservedly notorious for many of its early adopters, particularly in America, for quite frankly not giving the slightest shit about black people in general, never mind black men. Lest we forget the likes of Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, who were appalled by the idea of suffrage being extended to the black populace, despite often being praised for her anti-slavery activism. Not often stated, but anti-slavery and the pro-citizenshi…

Two words: thoroughly unsurprising. At this point when it comes to almost any show with a female lead, you could honestly make a retirement fund just placing bets on how many are going to involve the apparently obligatory denigration of men. Was actually a little curious about the show at first, but I had a feeling that (as seems to be standard for Netflix) it was gonna have something like this going on. Good to know I was right. Again.

The greatest irony of it all is that then we are expected to be sympathetic to the plight of lonely women, which to me says it all about little feminists actually care for men’s liberation from gendered expectations. It really is just the same old shit, dressed up in a different coat: men shut up, get on with it, never question a thing, and women get on with raising a child trained into the same poisonous mentalities. Only now it’s with a more explicit degree of antagonism towards the fact that …

Alright, something we can dig our teeth into! So I’ve done a little scan on the case and, in all fairness, I’ll happily concede that the Head And Master laws did present a very particular disadvantage to women in the states where it was enacted. However, the reasons for this are a bit more complicated than one might expect than just the reflexive “man has power over woman” deal. Now, unfortunately I can’t find much in the way of information about these laws that’s at least accessible to the publ…

This ties into an amendment in my response to Nuditarian: the pattern I would argue, insofar as poor women and their relationship with the men of their class, surely would amount to one much more of cooperation as they struggle to make ends meet. After all many working-class and peasant women did toil for great lengths, alongside the men, something which I feel is often greatly understated. But again, cooperation is the key word there, and Mary Beard gives some interesting perusal into this; far…

To be honest this isn’t really exclusive to feminism. The structures were already in place: you speak of women having had little agency in household management but this seems far from likely, considering the Coverture system granted wives the ability to act as their husband’s economic agents through the law of agency, + the equity courts granting for separate estates, but most of my response to these ideas can be seen below with u/nuditarian so there’s little point in repeating myself. I’d encou…

As others have discussed numerous times in the past, the right to vote was frankly a whole mess of issues, but among them is the fact that the vote had originally been tied quite to military service in some capacity or another for men who weren’t of significant standing (i.e. wealthy landowners), and in fact many anti-suffrage groups, particularly in America, actually believed having access to the ballot would reduce women’s social influence over political affairs due to the supposed higher mora…

His disconnect seems largely centred around the fact that, to use his words, they’re still bound to Second-Wave feminism rather than intersectionality. He goes more into detail about the perceived distinction in his conversation with Warren Farrell. But honestly? I’d say we just give it time. That’s the sad part of it all, really. What could be a genuine push for actual representation for people from all walks of life, actually highlight something of a shared understanding no matter how “out there” it can get is reduced to a grift for these high-profile institutions to put on an image that suggests they ain’t a buncha highfalutin snobs. And it’s so pathetically desperate that it borders on cartoonish.

I mean that’s the great double-bind, isn’t it? On one hand we have what can be seen as a greater deal of flexibility in terms of gendered expectations, norms etc. or what such a concept might even mean to a person, but then it gets hamstrung by the fact that for a great many, more masculine characteristics remains something of a... less than preferable mode of expression, because lord forbid we decide to emulate traits of humanity’s great oppressor. Honestly, dude... I wouldn’t worry about it. People like the MensLib mods are gonna do all the work for us by further alienating their user base the more they obsessively clamp down on dissidents. They’ve been put at a crossroads where all the more people are expressing disillusionment and worry, and instead of holding true to their wish to avoid tribalism, they’re choosing the coward’s way out. Fair enough. I don’t know if I can necessarily edit this in a way that doesn’t risk diluting the point, but for what it’s worth I can at least clarify something here to any lurkers who might see this: if a day was to come when this could change, if feminism WAS able to overcome this monumental hangup about the double-sided nature of sexist divisions and establish a more holistic outlook like Mary Ritter Beard endeavoured to do... hands in the air, I’m all for it. I think at its core, as u/OnceFa2 has rather eruditely pointed out in the past, it’s the fact that the logic many use is ironically predicated on the very traditionalist logic they claim to stand against. For instance if we were to look at the claim that men have been viewed as “the default” in many aspects of history, which in fairness there is a validity to, as people like Mary Ritter Beard have tried to stress, this does not in and of itself mean women were holistically devalued, but that it …

Considering that many of us here are former feminists, myself included, I can say this is far from rare. The movement is so incumbent, framed as being irrefutably integral to the progression of gender equality that it’s co-opted just about everything, and it makes it hard to really want to disassociate with the feminist movement. Especially if you still can find value in the writings despite the misandrist screeds. But there comes a point where you really do have to say “enough is enough,” when …

It’s especially ironic too because it belies such a severe ignorance and, to get a bit glib, privilege these people have to think that somehow just being a compassionate human being equates to the “bare minimum.” I mean I would love to hear them justify that in a world that has left us so atomised, so exhausted and downtrodden that being able to experience those few glimpses of genuine solidarity and compassion wouldn’t have most of us feel like we just got 5 years added to our lifespan. I must admit part of me was eagerly anticipating someone like the OP of that thread posting something like this for that exact reason, she’s as shameless a misandrist as they come and I knew it was only gonna be a matter of time before someone like her got too many bees in their bonnet about men being allowed to speak up, so when this hit my feed I knew this sub would need to know, because it probably means MensLib is only gonna get worse. And we need to be on top of that.

That’s why I call their perception of men “beasts of burden.” Because in any practical sense that’s all we are to them, just senseless brutes who get to tread the Great Plains of life and graze wherever we see fit. So to them, feminism is simply a way of making us “useful.” They can wax lyrical all they want about supposedly caring for male issues, but they’re more than happy to corral and shoot us down the moment we start getting a little unruly about our own needs.

Quelle surprise. Gotta love the nebulousness of the word “unconstructive” too. And therein lies the rub. Y’know I’m really starting to get tired of this whole “toxic masculinity” thing being used as a sort of cudgel. Because as per usual it gets reduced to an incoherent gishgallop where somehow we acknowledge that men’s social expectations will lead them to look at themselves in a toxic manner as far as needing to be the workhorse, the providers and protectors to the point of emotionally crippling themselves, but then somehow fail to see the fucking irony by saying that we…

From all I’ve observed, things like this play out like an elastic band. Gradually stretching farther and farther as those in power keep looking to test their limit until an inevitable SNAP. And sometimes that snap can bloody well sting something fierce, and it seems to me that we’re closing on that breaking point. We might not have much with us right now, but if we keep stirring up that discontent we might just get a foothold. “Pound the iron while it’s still hot.”

So this is a bit of a funny one, because it essentially tries to bridge a gap between Marxist class analysis and the traditional patriarchy theory into at least an ostensibly more material analysis. So, on one hand, there is some merit here. As it could serve to explain how gender roles have been enforced in the Industrial Age: working-class men being raised to serve as a capable workforce whose role is to be productive and provide for the family etc. and all the financial control and such that …

This right here sums up exactly why feminists are never gonna be capable of resolving men’s issues: they only EVER heed them as cudgel’s to prove some kind of inherent deficiency in men, straight out of Solanas’ playbook. Higher suicide rates? Toxic masculinity. Lack of support for men struggling with mental illness? Too proud to admit weakness. Men underreport on domestic abuse? Patriarchy trains them to not consider it a problem otherwise they’re mocked by other men. Greater rates of murder? T…

This is pretty much a microcosm of what’s become endemic to feminism at this point, and precisely why subs like this, and the movements that act in the spirit of our mission statement are needed. The simple fact is that no matter how much they’ll squirm and writhe to find ways to paint themselves as the underdog, feminism is among one of the most thoroughly entrenched political movements of the 21st Century in much of “the developed world.” And by extension, it’s become an industry, one which ha…

To me the real hilarity lies in how desperately feminists have looked to pathologise something which anyone with even the most basic understanding of human social interaction would recognise as being unilateral ANYWAY. Especially nowadays when we have so much which speaks of how abusers will condition their partners to doubt whether what they experienced qualifies as abuse or whether it’s just a “character quirk,” be it professional or domestic. Tell ya what, let’s say for the sake of argument that feminism is looking to help men in their struggles, I have a few points of consideration, which largely all fall under this one question: why is it that so much of the modern MRM’s talking points, over the course of at least 50 years since its formation, remain almost the same? The biases in family courts towards women? The concern over how men have typically been excluded/unequally treated in research regarding domestic violence and sexual a…

So... while I’ll happily cede ground to how much of a MESS this is in terms of the precise legal ground, to be fair to Depp I don’t know if much in the way of concrete alternatives were available if we’re looking at it in the context of a man looking to expose his experience with abuse. Like at least from what I’ve gathered for the whole debacle, including the situation with the Sun, the overall goal Depp seems to be approaching this with is to highlight Heard’s abusive behaviour, with things li…

To be honest I almost see it as a tacit admittance of defeat, that after having had nearly 50 years of ground by which to influence how domestic violence is perceived, ostensibly in the name of equal treatment and yet we’re still so shambolic that Heard’s accusations potentially being spurious is seen as a threat? I don’t know how much clearer you can make it then that the current feminist paradigm of understanding abuse is so fragile that THIS was considered a potential impetus for women at lar…

The best part is if you look back on AskFeminists you can see EXACT evidence to the contrary not but around a year ago. To be honest when I see these sorts of things come to light the more it feels like a “hoist by their own petard” situation. Perhaps some might consider it naïve but I’m not THAT convinced that intersectionality is totally beyond us being able to use ourselves.
