So it’s not really a secret that India’s been something of a hot mess, with the feminist lobbying to change the current gender neutral rape laws to being specific to female victims.

And I don’t necessarily want to drag that whole thing up again per se, but upon some further investigation I keep finding mentions of armed gangs raping women, apparent survey results talking about overwhelming male entitlement to women’s bodies in marriage, a substantial pay gap, it’s practically a feminist gold mine according to these things (anyone who needs some examples, lemme know and I’ll pop ‘em in). But y’know how it is, I can’t help but want to get a full scope: I have no doubts of India’s extreme enforcing of traditional gender roles as a by-product of its caste system, but as a result I would be shocked if this didn’t mean men and boys (even without getting into the queer community) were also deeply affected negatively by this. So, to anyone who can provide some further context, it’d be much appreciated.
