That's a great point, and similarly carries for any type of aggression as well. For example, while "patriarchy" is often to blame for domestic violence, the reasons behind IPV isn't very different than other types of violence. Often times, many men who engage in IPV were once victims of family violence themselves from either their mom or dad.

This is a huge problem all around the developed world and I've rarely seen in portrayed in any type of media except the Kite Runner (I suppose). Male SA victims are generally not looked at as victims in a lot of these circumstances and given how little society cares about their abuse, they're forced to move on and pretend it didn't happen or that it was enjoyable in some way. Honestly, rarely. But the instances where men would tell me to control my emotions, it was always with an intention to help rather than to hurt/shame me. The basic justification for my mother and grandmother was that a woman can marry out of poverty, a man mostly can't. Much of man's value is based on what they are worth and in a country with intense social and economy inequality, it is incredibly hard for men to climb the socio-economic ladder. My personal take a bit more nuance because the same issues don't exist to the same extent in the US but it is true that poor girls tend to out perform poor boys when it comes to income mobility.

One of the other commenters mentioned Peaky Blinders, and I think it's an apt comparison since it's always men who have to fight/kill each other in order to gain some semblance of personal agency/power and I think in a lot of ways, that's kinda the aim of the show.

Yep this is interesting. I personally like the way men are written in these movies because men being shown in weaker more vulnerable positions gives them a lot more a compelling character arc. I see what you're saying but I think the constant demonization of men is a problem on either side of the aisle. The only difference is that republicans are more keen on demonizing certain groups of men (by race, sexuality, SES, etc) whereas feminists tend to do a similar thing but to almost all men. However, I see it more a rally tactic to garner votes from many progressive women, and men who often want to see themselves as morally superior to other men.

Using the worker example, sure the worker could actually be lazy, but if large groups of workers are unemployed, or there is a spike in overall unemployment, there's likely a systemic issue at hand that deviates from the normal economy and it should be treated as if there is a systemic issue. I also suspect that many of the women who are answering that question in the survey are likely choosing the most socially acceptable answer.
