Oh yeah you're completely right, I somehow forgot that's where so much of it comes from

It's just out and about, honestly. I've seen it more than once to be sure. Haven't seen it in awhile because I look at very very few subs anymore. I'm sure you can find the sentiment on some feminist forums or the like
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/07/26 04:01 AM
9

If it makes you feel better I think I recognize talking like that. It sounds like a rationalization to me, which in a case like this makes me wonder about mental health issues
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/07/26 11:28 PM
16

There's another layer to it, extended suicide is a thing. Yes it can be different but it certainly seems analogous to "women kill men out of self defense, men kill out of aggression"
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/07/26 11:23 PM

Overall, I agree with feminism in theory. Men and women both need more rights, so supporting women's rights, depending on who you ask, it also helps out men's rights too For me, the problem comes along with the actions. The actions often do betray their words, but you brought up the point of feminism not being monolithic, and that's a good point. Some feminists are misandrists, and sometimes feminism is framed as only a women's movement, men need to make their own- which inevitably gets pushback…

Thank you very much, a fine addition

Interesting, do you have a source? Would love to check it out
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/06/26 09:13 PM

Fair enough. If that's what you prefer, then that's fine and fair lol. Autism or not, I do at least relate a lot to not relating to online communities. I feel like there's an unwritten "autism competition", like the most autistic person there wins or therefore deserves more sympathy for being "more" autistic
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/06/26 12:40 AM
2

I should've phrased it better, yes I believe it is beneficial here. I specifically mean the rates of misandry growing may be an availability heuristic. I think we're simply more aware of misandry in society now, and thus it may seem like it's growing. My mistake lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates14/06/26 12:34 AM
7

I'm not saying you are or you are not autistic, but I will say I thought I was the same way as an autistic Then I got real close to people with autism and then they could point out my stims and autistic behavior from a mile away. I thought I was just about fully neurotypical presenting lol. Just is something to think about

A bit of a late reply but am glad to hear you're on this side too lol How did you even find this after 6 months? Lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/06/26 02:51 AM
9

Though I do have to wonder how much of this is based on the availability heuristic. Studies are being shown on sexism in men, and I think more people are pushing back. I think it can feel very rough because we're so aware of misandry, but I think that's also exactly part of why a difference might be being made
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/06/26 01:48 PM

What's crazy is this still a lot more nuanced than a lot of us know

I made a post just like this a few years ago, and got essentially the same exact answers. Scummy, honestly. I'm fine now but so much of this feels in bad faith

I think the more we're aware of such biases the more we can potentially stop it. Yeah it seems to be an ingrained human instinct, but humans are so adaptable. I don't think it'll be all sunshine and roses any time soon, but we're making progress on fronts like microaggressions and ingrained biases. I'm optimistic

This is the best I found without really rummaging through the internet, it's hard to find many sources on this stuff, albeit, this doesn't even link any sources https://www.english-heritage.org.uk/learn/histories/eight-witchcraft-myths/

Awesome, I always love collecting more sources, and do apologize if my last comment sounded snappy at all, I was genuinely curious Very happy to hear not 53% of female guards though. I didn't expect as such but still good to hear lol

53% of all female guards? Do you have a source? I do always like bringing this piece to light as well for those who haven't seen it. I'd bet it's nothing you haven't seen already, though https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2015/03/idaho-juvenile-detention-sexual-abuse/

My boyfriend and I (nonbinary but cis man presenting) both just have mostly left queer spaces. We both frequent this sub and both agree that it's stupid the amount of stuff just allowed. I'll never get the expectation that I'm suddenly supposed to hate men or cishet white men for that matter. Every single cishet white man I know is just a regular guy Interestingly I've met a lot of my online friends on this sub in specific, and while most are LGBTQ+, we each agree it's best to recoil away from m…

Yeah I just ignore it at this point, it's actually kind of funny Imo, they probably haven't looked much deeper into gender studies, mixed with a cultural bias. Not saying I don't need to look deeper as well though That being said, I would imagine women have larger support groups and more hobbies and such. Whereas men tend to not be encouraged to do any of that as much
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/03/26 01:44 AM
17

I just enjoy the people around me, and like seeing the difference in everyone. I advocate for men because it's so dearly needed, and talking about my experiences when I identified as a guy just is forgotten, talked over, or vilified. I got tired of my experiences and observations being seen as a fundamental problem with me. Eventually I found a like-minded community of people here That being said, if you look around at men's subs yes a lot of them are still going for feminism and older beliefs, …

I identified as a cishet guy for the vast majority of my life, so I still hold those experiences as being treated as a guy, despite being nonbinary now. And as of now I just present as a cishet guy too for a multitude of reasons (especially right now in the US), so I'm often grouped in by default Even if someone knows I'm nonbinary and doesn't know I present as cishet I think I'm often lumped in with men Either way, I'm for gender advocacy for everyone

I'm trying to educate those around me and open to such topics about the areas men struggle with. I also try to reach out to those who seemed to be in my place before I found this sub I'd like to do more, but such opportunities are nearly nonexistant and or risky to talk about, as a lot of this stuff can be really, really frowned upon to talk about
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/12/25 05:52 AM
3

Yeah I hear you. I have a few friends I can talk to about this stuff and they share the same opinions as me thankfully, but can definitely feels really hard to find anyone wanting to listen sometimes
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/12/25 03:43 AM
11

Do you guys talk to anyone about this stuff? For a long time I couldn't tell if I was going insane or if no one else just saw all the misandry in day to day life. Finding this sub was a massive game changer for my life
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/12/25 02:38 AM
3

Tell me about it. This community is one of the most politically unique I've ever found, even though it seems like the minimum for egalitarianism
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/12/25 11:01 PM
3

Honestly, it's made me far more reclusive than I used to be. There's only a few people I talk about this stuff with, and thankfully for me they enjoy this sub too, but other than those few people, I keep myself pretty vague so I don't get close to those people It absolutely is isolating sometimes, but I'm not going to kowtow and accept being a doormat
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/12/25 10:55 PM
2

It's pretty hard imo, I have absolutely distanced myself from people after learning their views. I always always vet people in person, but haven't met someone like me in person. It's genuinely so weird and mind boggling how much socialization has made us see things that are ok and aren't ok. Just because everyone is ok with something doesn't mean it's ethically moral or ok. Take slavery, as an example I have met multiple pretty cool people from this sub, though. But I fully understand why someon…

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/12/25 07:16 AM

Where did you get this info? In the US men are far more in favor https://www.ipsos.com/en-us/news-polls/military-draft-women-support-2021 "In 2021, over half of all men (55%) support drafting women, compared to about a third (36%) of women."
/r/MensRights30/11/25 11:18 PM
16

In my opinion, yes, and no. As it currently stands I'm pretty disgusted with what the left offers both women and men, but am especially disgusted with the double standards we are seeing as ok or even a necessity For this reason I count myself as actually more left than most people, and way more left than any party. Our community is slowly spreading though, hopefully more and more
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/10/25 03:51 PM

I wholeheartedly agree. Generally if someone tells me someone isn't a real man I stop listening. Generally means they're either transphobic or being misandrist
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/10/25 06:29 PM
2

I understand it. I've had my behavior called feminine or just been told I'm not a real man many times, growing up I was a feminine guy despite identifying as cishet. But I do like that this community doesn't really enforce that on anyone
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/10/25 06:24 PM

In my opinion men tend to carry more hard power whereas women tend to carry more soft power

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/10/25 06:14 PM

As in the need to prove it or the social pressure to prove it? I had it a happen a lot to me and was around traditional masculinity so I believed it. These days I couldn't care less. I'm not changing an aspect about myself for greater approval from an internet stranger. Nothing towards you I'm just sharing my experience

Meh aren't young people complaining about how hard it is to get a date these days? Or at least a good one I think the dating market is really messed up right now for everyone. Also more and more people are refusing to have kids

Primarily the reason I'm upset is I'm just afraid of not being able to live a life with my partner. We're still young and I haven't had enough time with them just yet. That's my only real worry
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/09/25 07:22 AM

Oh I'm sure tbh. I wonder if there is any legal action I can take to make sure my stuff isn't ever put up, but who knows. I'll have to review the laws on all this
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/07/25 07:39 AM
35

Truth be told, that's precisely what I expected. I really think humans are really quick to point a finger and call someone or something a boogeyman. Not to say I'm ok with or condone these groups, or the tactics they're employing, but overall I expect l the vast majority of these groups (men and women and everyone else) to be just very socially awkward people who may very well be bitter

Good to know. I'll try to be vigilant about that stuff then And no I'm not a physical therapist ha. I am a huge enthusiast in the field, but ultimately decided not to go forth. Initially I did want to apply to medical school but realized in the US the don't make a whole lot, especially for the debt often accrued. Was going the physical therapy assistant route but and got I'm but last I saw insurance companies are crunching them, so I jumped ship before ever committing much. Now I'm in tech

Same here, no source and I can't find anything about it. But it is by the Finance Times, the same one reporting on the gender disparities of the Western world today. I wish I had something about that claim

Not great news to hear but certainly not surprising. I'm trying really hard to break through and get a really good resume and portfolio going but who knows. At least society is stepping away from the toxic masculinity phase, and misandry is much more accepted now, but I see positive masculinity thrown around a lot too. I see people defending it saying as though default masculinity today is caked in misogyny At the very least, it's extremely interesting to see just how humans and society work, how much double standards and bias there is. How fallible humans are, tbh

Funnily enough my boyfriend and I saw that as well. That post was just absolutely seething with hatred and honestly some of the worst reasoning I've seen in a long time I am not a woman nor have I ever been but that post came off to me as really quite patronizing and misogynistic, absolutely not giving women the autonomy of choice and assuming all women must think and feel the same way I've seen that sub and others like it before. Agreed with the misogyny, however I believe we are all conditioned to be misandrist too. As someone once told me, her experience in the US was that sexism was much more prevalent than racism was I firmly say it depends on what and where a man's privilege is in and authority. In the office? Probably a man's opinion will be held higher. In a daycare? Probably a woman's

I think it's more an issue of actions speaking louder than words, that is being discussed here. Like, my coworkers are all feminists and such, however they definitely do place traditionally masculine roles onto me, especially anything at all labor related as I present as a cishet man. Some of it is logical as I am much stronger than them, however many tasks are extremely trivial or they have shown themselves more than capable. Would a systematic review and meta analysis on regrets in transition rates change any opinions? I assume this is the study you are referring to? I can agree that wanting to commit suicide or experiencing gender dysphoria is bad, but why would it be irrational? If someone with ADHD cannot operate in life without medication, are they just irrational and mentally ill? I would say no to irrational, mentally ill may is a highly subjective term but I would still say no to that, albiet I argue that's a case of semantics If they get ADHD and their quality of living improves immensely, is that so different? Looking into the trans men communities and talking about it with another trans man, it seems like there's a lot of infighting. When I visited any subs it feels like there's a split between feminist types and ones who reject feminism. But Reddit being Reddit, the feminist narratives usually win

Personally I see feminism more as an attempt of ethical philosophy, regardless of political party. However, I don't think I'd take the step to say everyone who advocates for women's rights are feminists. There was roughly equal men and women, to my knowledge, who were against women's suffrage. I believe they saw it as the more moral point of view. Same reason why abortion is an ungendered view. Not going anywhere with this, just an anecdote As for feminism? Eh it depends imo. I understand you a lot. While I myself like an androgynous spot, it's hard to say if that was because of the ridicule I've gotten for being masculine and is thus an attempt to distance myself from it, or if I do like being androgynous. I think it's a little of both Even though I like being androgynous, I still don't feel in touch with the male side, and it still feels wrong to even encourage it. I'm surprised Vaush is even entertained there but no one is able to actually look at society and say "damn yall this is actually fucked up", no one is able to admit that men do face a lot of systematic and social sexism, that is often encouraged It takes a lot not to be even more disappointed with these answers, but baby steps, I suppose. But if they keep this face up of policing men to join them instead of using empathy and trying to understand men's issues, I ho…

I don't disagree with you any and I didn't happen to see a comment on it, what would you say about gay men being much more likely to get degrees than straight men? I have a few theories why this would occur, of course no toxic masculinity involved This comment I didn't read too into but the theory seems like it might have some footing but I don't really fully buy into it yet

I think it's a bigger problem than we know. I believe a lot of close platonic relationships between men are even criticized or looked down upon at times. It can also lead to an inability to be vulnerable with anyone. Brene Brown did a lot of research into male vulnerability. I think the findings speak to why so many just cannot willingly and consciously be vulnerable. Imo, we don't say it but still view them as weak I also greatly dislike the romanticising of lone wolf and stoic types. Ultimatel…

I grew up in a small city that was very diverse. As such my highschool experience had most people be very leftwing, and depending on the teacher, feminism was highly promoted and talked about as the future, even with a girl's only club. I was also a staunch feminist, until sometime after highschool I felt like I had committed a sin just for being born male I'm no longer leftwing, but I am progressive. Curious if anyone else had something like that

Ah I see. Yeah I get what you mean, I'm not happy about it but even over are r/stupididpol they're making fun of the leftist reactions. I think they're mostly left.... Anyway, I do think a lot of people here are having some feeling of catharsis. When you're compared to being worse than a wild animal who are also apex predators that will easily destroy any human, I think it can definitely add some turmoil there. I sympathize with that part. But there are some very gloomy comments and worries here…

I think that was a great comparison between new atheism and modern feminism. Feminism (while historically has definitely always had some big issues) now seems more about tearing men down than bringing women up

I'm guessing Australia? I've heard they have some maga people down there, which surprised me. I wonder if it's anything to do with ANZUS. I don't know much about Australian politics If it makes you feel better things definitely may not turn out so bad, but we just have to wait and see. The Bronze Age Collapse saw just about every power in the known ancient world disapear beyond Assyria and Egypt, both suffering major damage, with Egypt becoming a secondary power and Assyria rising to power. Totally agree, and honestly it's so surreal to see the support of men as second class citizens in some cases I know a lot of people are blaming men as a whole for Kamala's defeat, but it's obviously disingenuous, and they don't want to take any accountability it seems. I try to fight the learned helplessness and the constant backlash for being amab, but it's not easy. Something like this was bound to happen
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/24 03:44 AM

Me too. I'm not very concerned for me as a male, in the US men still don't have paper abortions nor is female on male rape recognized for what it is. I also voted Kamala But I am worried about my trans friends. Also hope this presidency isn't too crazy I will admit seeing the huge slap in the face in what some may call a landslide victory is indeed quite amusing haha. I guess it's white women vs the bear now

I so recommend it mate. I am subbed to 4 subs right now, by far the most active is this sub, and wow the quality of living change was huge for me. No more seeing misandry, no more getting angry at something, everything feels safe now. Yes lwma does present some of those in posts but it's filled with people calling out their actions and discussing it. Really recommend
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/11/24 03:31 AM

I really get that, I'm doing my best to just sit back and chill lol. My philosophy is if I can't change it, I don't worry about it. This sub and r/misandyfreefemallies are literally some of the only social media I use anymore. I love it, and right now it seems it's really paying off

Yeah, same here. I myself will likely be fine, not much to take away from men or many amabs (no paper abortion, still drafted unequally, etc), it's the trans people I know that I'm concerned about
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 09:32 PM
3

That's what I'm thinking. The Democrats seem so prideful to me to have a campaign like this, along with shaming men and black men for being misogynists for not supporting Kamala. I feel like they appeal more to shaming you for not being a Democrat than any logical arguments, often
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 09:28 PM

I haven't been keeping up with it too much but I did see white women as the third option in the bear debate. That can't feel good I'm sure some won't like the sub, but perhaps we can lend a hand to those who are hurting and receptive to us if given the chance. However, you may be right that they wouldn't want the help

/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 09:13 PM

I wonder if they'll learn their lesson. Maybe they will, but will have another scapegoat in time. To me the Democrats have a high sense of pride and that has really brought them down a lot. Every victory from them seems like it was barely inked out, often
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/11/24 08:48 PM
20

I won't lie it is cathartic in that sense, and seeing the way the election went, even seeing some call it a landslide victory, I hope it serves as a strong wake up call If trans men I know have told me that they hung around conservative spaces to avoid misandry, then Jesus fucking Christ there is a problem

The left is awful about that. Why is it always men blamed?

Always happy to see another soul about and have someone feel at home here. I agree, but I don't believe it will be a gendered take for the most part. Many ideologies today are like that, take abortion which is more about left vs right. Gender neutral draft, depending on the survey, is like that too Often yes, the gender that benefits more from it will be more progressive on the issue, but not always. In the end, we just need to keep pushing our sphere of influence. MRA subs turn women away but I hear a lot of women say this sub is much better. I hope we can keep it tha…

I am curious what will happen to men in the next few years. I see more people open to the plights of men, but not sympathetic, nor understanding of the nuance behind criminal stats If the left continues its current route, I cannot see anything getting better, with men already having the start to becoming second class citizens, with a lot of companies and programs only giving benefits to women, and not temporarily to even any field (eg computer science, which is a whole other debate in of itself)…

It's not for a lack of effort. The trans men I've talked to have told me society as a whole treats them much worse and differently when showing emotions or feminity Except maybe in some leftist spaces, but I've heard those same spaces usually dislike masculinity

It seems alright, but a nitpick is it never identifies what is a positive opinion and negative opinion. Is being thought of as masculine, with all the good and bad tied into it, a positive opinion then? Also these are asked vs revealed preferences. I think men and amabs are just kind of scapegoats today, especially undeserving of empathy as our teachings have gone from women's rights to men being the sole problem in many cases, encouraging indirect to direct genocide, discrimination, and supremacy at times Academia is where we get so much information, and "stats don't lie", perhaps they don't, but humans certainly do, and will use every trick I'm the book to manipulate the story. Honestly, I think it's a terrible argument for many other reasons Men historically faced just as much sexism, and although men were often rulers, we must also realize that both men and women supported this- it was not the patriarchy theory or anything. Sometimes they're just a puppet If domestic violence isn't gendered, who knows how many rulers were partially bad rulers because of their spouse or spouses Also, talking with a trans man, I have been to…

Honestly, it's just so... eerie, bizarro, mind numbing? how people don't see this. Men slowly becoming second class citizens around the world Demolishing of women's prisons, lack of rights towards men as victims, lack of asylum towards male refugees, (unintentionally- usually) gendered courts, lack of any empathy. It's a terrifying trend. And honestly, with men having the vast majority of suicides, I don't think many men will hesitate to pull any trigger

I fucking hate men, mostly just because lots of them are morons and do treat women like shit. Not all, just many. Is this for real? On this sub we argue that even if there was a big discrepancy between how men and women treat each other, that's still fucking awful to despise an entire gender, an entire 50% of the population Even if you do hate women too, that's just absurd dude. Precisely, but I was also getting at just good ol manipulation. We play to our strengths. Men are stronger on average, but women have more social power than men. I say female mass violence is usually in the form of mass accusations. That's how we get things like witch hunts or the black lynchings pretty much. And ofc, the vast majority of people do not partake in any form of mass violence I always feel like feminism's issues are always pinned on men somehow lol. Even as a amab nb I'm not exclude…

I have so much empathy for you. I've always been a feminine man, masculine woman, etc. I count myself as androgynous these days, and nb. But only feel comfortable presenting as a cishet man I wish I could be at least not demonized for the masculinity and not reviled for the feminity I do have

I actually prefer to look at it through a lens of behavior be gender Absolutely most firefighters and soldiers are male, but most medical and social workers are female Likewise men commit more crime via physical means, but women commit more crime via social means. Overall, I think the amount of good and bad done by men and women is equal Not trying to correct you or say your view is wrong, just sharing an extra view!

Sexism, both misogyny and misandry, are disgustingly common. I am so thankful misogyny is being called out a lot more, but it's genuinely angering that misandry gets a pass or is encouraged But it's also a disturbing reflection of feminism for her to say "I feel like my tribe is going against me here". No blame to her here, but for people to be aggressive or hostile because she has several boys? Unnerving
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates05/10/24 07:36 AM

The whole article felt like it was getting somewhere, but just barely missing the point. Something about it. I think it's the fact that the article sees men and boys as more of trapped in an unfortunate situation rather than someone to show empathy and compassion to, if that makes sense. I wonder if it's because men really can't make articles about this unless they're calling out fellow men or if they want to be shit on by progressives. It also reeks of the traditional toxic masculinity. Look at…

I'd argue men are kind of arrested and beat just for their gender. Obviously there is a reason beyond just "being a man/woman" but men are suspected way more, arrested way more, and killed way more literally just because they're a man. God forbid they're an adult black man. Like, let's forget we're debating for a second, what is your first reaction to "woman killed by man" vs "man killed by woman"? Why can't anyone ever just say something nice about men and not anything negative? I think literally almost every article has to go into depth about the crime gap with absolutely no nuance and reasoning why it's like that (men being the provider for the family, vast of homeless, men have no DV shelters, men are often manipulated by others in order to do their dirty work, etc.) You wonder why men are turning away from you? It's because you see men as something they are not. To them men are animals…

Honestly I really encourage you to make a post here, but for your sake try to do it amicably so you're not going against the sub's culture. Just ask what sort of disadvantages men face. Try not to mention feminism as many have a bad taste from being burned by it. But if you're not up to a post in a sub you don't know that's understandable. If you have any questions about the sub feel free to ask me here or in dms I'm the asshole for sure here and the burden of proof is on me, but I'll be honest …

I don't know. I don't think the behaviors described in there should be accepted, but then again that does lead to a lot of loneliness We as a society are being taught to give women their space, and the linked post encourages the opposite behavior towards men. I am amab and quite muscular with long hair. I do not enjoy having my muscles groped by people I have not given permission to, nor my hair touched. This is just an example that is of course generally one step farther than catcalling though.…

Honestly, in a situation like that, I don't. At least not directly. There are so many times I have seen people directly ignore and completely disregard the evidence I show them. It's more effective and easier to not directly engage It breeds hostility and makes it so hard to change their minds. And it's just awful for mental health. If they can't make themselves happier they'll drag you to their level of misery

Something unnerving I see is that in response to a crime done by men, the response to combat crime perpetration often feels like it indirectly encourages scrutiny and hatred of men, along with the collective blaming of men for this and all other crimes. That men everywhere ought to be ashamed for this to even happen If a crime is done by women, they get the benefit of the doubt and a whole lot of nuance. I won't say that's a bad thing, but men should absolutely be awarded the same liberty and ri…

I think feminism has sort of dived deep into the gender essentialist route, sometimes believing the majority or vast majority of men are predators and just awful people It's honestly something really concerning to me. I don't think it'll affect me now, but later I'm life it certainly could. I just feel so awful for men of color
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/09/24 09:24 PM

Yes. I have seen it too. My boss just openly told me she hates men, when I present as a cishet man. I thought she was alright but now I refuse to be friends with a bigot. I called her out but she said nothing, didn't even acknowledge it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/09/24 09:22 PM
5

Exactly the same idea talking to a trans guy I know. He said he was around conservative circles until the transphobia came around The bigotry all of these circles exude puts a lot of people in a tough place, especially marginalized men. This is the only community I've felt I can be myself
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/09/24 09:20 PM

A lot of liberal men too. Men are seen as subhuman until proven otherwise sometimes

Agree but porn use isn't gendered. Even OnlyFans is only 63% male And with around 1/3 of all content creators being male, and 59% of users being heterosexual, that's about the numbers we'd expect

Yeah this won't be abused any
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/09/24 09:11 PM

Yeah seen stuff like that too. Saw something once in the Gen Z sub where a woman was talking about how women are trying to liberate themselves from oppressive societal norms but men just want to stay in the pile of shit ...really?? Still ignoring anything and everything regarding criticisms of feminism and why men won't follow these tenants then?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/09/24 09:09 PM
3

Eh I don't see it as too far of a stretch for any progressive outlets to make. If maternity leave is cited as one of the main causes for the pay gap then it's absolutely going to be milked here At least we're to the stage of trying to even the gap by helping men out and not solely focusing on women. It's not ideal, but I'm happy to see something at least
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/09/24 09:32 PM
4

Yeah as a nb who looks like a cishet guy I do not ever feel welcomed into any left or right space. I only talk to close friends about it generally I think it might be nice to be more androgynous but I do not think society is in any position where I can do that unfortunately. Even my own family would not approve
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates11/09/24 12:07 AM

Yeah I felt like such a monster for being male, and it's my fault to for never questioning feminist and societal ideals and values. I questioned everything else beyond that It just ruined my mental health, but I'm back. To a physical analogy I had to learn to walk again. I have a lot to do but it's so much better

I think it might be more worth pointing out I've seen a lot of men do that too for female perpetrators. I don't think that behavior is gendered, I think that just whenever the victim or perpetrator is a woman people often act wayyyyy different
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/09/24 02:36 AM

Is it disconcerting to anyone else that society seems so ok with, if not even outright uncaring towards, men's well being? This is almost (if not) outright blatant discrimination

Partly why I refuse to entertain anyone's antics about any of this shit, I just try to march to the beat of my own drum. Everyday I'm happier and happier I called her out her bigotry
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates27/08/24 05:52 PM

Unfortunate. It seems the entire world is against the victimization of men and the criminalization of women. It seems to be a heavy trend of female perpetrated crimes not being tracked or taken seriously, and men's victimization not being taken seriously, unfortunately

Maybe it wasn't a great metaphor tbh, but it was more like even when doing a good and necessary deed for the tiger (feeding them), the tiger still retaliates and tries to attack the feeder, thus the feeder had to be very careful Society has taken an aura of this approach towards men, that men do need help (sometimes), but are to be feared, sometimes even too dangerous to handle

It definitely does seem like a form of mass violence. And an acceptable one, at that. It seems that either by methods or their gender women's crimes are not taken nearly as seriously Even crimes where kids are killed are just swept under the rug sometimes, forgotten, which I don't think is any more uncommon than men doing it tbh, just different modes. It doesn't help that humans evolved to take physical threats seriously, and not ones like social accusations

I think in theory it absolutely means egalitarian, but the problem is we've seen feminism and feminists act directly against men's problems so many times I feel like I cannot in good faith ally myself with feminism. I support women's rights, and hold no ill towards individuals who are not aware of feminism's skeletons in the closet, but as it stands I can't be aligned with it, nor if it were gender swapped These are mostly hidden from the public or even disregarded. Too true. A lot of these laws only protect white women as well, especially those middle or upper class Unfortunately, in any gender sub we're bound to run across sexists. It's not different between men and women
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/08/24 11:45 PM

I agree. The road does have to go both ways though. While I wholeheartedly support the right to abortion, I think a lot of guys on here, myself included, were disturbed by the idea that men shouldn't have any say in the matter, say, in a serious long term relationship That and the lack of any paper abortion. Men who are raped, even statutory rape, still have to pay child support in America

If men and women are killed it's not exactly misogyny then? Dude, women are just as bad. Polina Dvorkina would like to have a word with you. Just not really talked about or publicized. The story of Polina Dvorkina is extremely hidden as is Groups like AWDTSG exist as well. Men go physical, women go social. Men are mass shooters, women mass accusers. Black lynchings were a big thing And ngl, to reduce an entire population of half the people on earth to just a few individuals is really gross dude

Not only just that, but I think if we look at mass violence's history from a sociocultural perspective, we can see it takes many forms Mass shootings are one, black lynchings, Witch Hunts, Salem Witch Trials, etc. These seem to be ways for mass violence to occur, for various different reasons and different ways. Mass shootings seem to largely be because they've been done before and are an effective way to be killed by cops, a form a suicide, mostly by men Witch Hunts, who knows why they happened…

That's such a rough way to have this happen, I'm sorry to hear about that. You definitely deserve better friends than that, or at the very least people you can trust It's sad to me that men especially seem to have a lot of vulnerability to being lonely. It can be so hard to be heard or taken seriously. And I think it's so repressed in so many men they can't even realize how to be emotional anymore. I think people imagine that misogyny is almost always worse than misandry. But even in cases like the draft it's not called misandry it's just patriarchy, or even misogyny for not allowing women to be drafted Women are just as bad as men. In different ways, definitely, but just as bad

That's the thing, it can just be an accusation with no grounds. This will probably be used as a form of otherism, just as black lynchings, Salem Witch Trials, rape accusations, and more throughout history have happened. Humans rely heavily on our feelings, and if something or someone feels off, they may be accused, whether malevolent or not. A large percent of these people that feel off are just autistic men not fitting within the realm of neurotypical culture

Honestly getting to the point where I'm having trouble wondering what, if any, studies we can trust. This field seems so prone to shit and propaganda, it's hard to know what to trust. Especially with things like gendered surveys or reportings. I think there's so many underreported results and crimes against men especially that I don't know what we can trust
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/08/24 08:10 PM

Precisely. Men and women are just as malevolent, and just as violent, but in different ways Men are more physically violent, but women take on different forms of violence. It's why so many crimes are gendered. Violence by proxy is a common form, take Gypsy Rose Blanchard or Jennifer Pan Along with any crime happening to males being undereported, or thought to be in self defense by a woman

I should say I think there's a disproportionate amount of hard power to men and a disproportionate amount of soft power to women, which is why I listed them as such, but it definitely isn't just male/female I think you might be right about soft power like Putin has, but I say might because tbh I don't know how to define soft power. Is the intimidating presence of a world leader enough to classify as soft power? Just food for thought, I don't have any answers or criticisms…

Let's put aside for a moment morality here and speak only in terms of physical actions; if the very worst of what humankind can inflict as a projection of hatred and anger involves the acts of war and genocide, then it is the gender with the stronger physical capabilities that carries out such acts. Therefore, putting aside the moral intentions of the people we analyze, it gets clear that men, due to their physically stronger nature, possess the grounds that allow them to project their intention…

Academia is biased towards both men and women in different ways. Towards men they assume a toxic masculinity sort of relationship often, and there is a heavy lack of female studies in many areas. I wholeheartedly reject the notion of there are both more exceptional and terrible men than women, I find that to be both misandrist and misogynistic. I think we're too attuned to masculinity and it's purported malevolence to see malevolence in femininity, as well as not understanding that women usually…

I don't trust many organizations to help men. It seems to always begin with men repenting for for their sins of being a man, and ignoring any actual problems or solutions, very possibly making it worse.

That's actually a sad but sobering way to put it, that feminism is in the way of men's rights so often. And it's often encouraged by all of society

Yes. Was very close to going through with it many times. Debatably even have attempted it. Mental health was fine until seeing so much misandry and dealing with so much internalized misandry This is the violence of misandry
/r/EverydayMisandry30/07/24 05:33 PM

For instance, men who are victims and survivors of suicide deserve support that focuses on them – not on just using them as weapons against feminism. You could be taking action to build mental health resources for men. You can recognize and change the ways you contribute to toxic ideas of masculinity, like creating space for your male friends to express their emotions in a healthy way instead of telling them to “man up.” Tell that to all the men's shelters and resources destroyed for helping men…

Agreed. I feel like it's more just about tearing men down than any empowerment, at least on any social scale. Academic and systematic might be different, but I feel like it's looped on itself so that the women who aren't in favor of feminism, subscribe to very traditional gender roles, and or are "pickmes" are casualties as well Imo it's too disorganized anymore to be any powerhouse. Not unlike religion
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/07/24 01:57 AM

Yeah, it probably is, but I don't know if it's the best course of action. Right now I'm just kind of interestesd in supporting myself, showing the world that men aren't monsters and women are just as bad, and helping others where I can. I will gladly take but not give back to society as of right now, as cathartic but immature as that is
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/07/24 06:50 AM

It's an interesting trend to see how progressives are becoming so dogmatic in their pursuit for gender equality that they have Flanderized their efforts and standings. I see more tearing down of anything masculine and male instead of any supporting of anything feminine and female It is immature of me, but I have turned my back on society until I get more empathy and to not be demonized just for being a male
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/07/24 11:27 PM

Agreed. I expect women would take exactly the same measures if they were in the same spot, and the spots of men. Women are just as violent, but in different ways Side note, the tidbit about the shooters leaking their plans to others, I wonder how deep that goes. I wonder if anyone was mocked about that or even encouraged to do so
/r/MensRights27/07/24 04:57 PM

This is because feminity and women are not penalized nearly as harshly as men are. There is no one worrying about women committing domestic violence or women literally encouraging men to kill themselves, to increase the average number of suicides per day by men I will keep repeating it until I am physically stopped, men and women are just as violent. Men use physical methods more, women use social and manipulative methods more

You're right it is a shit analogy, and kind of misogynistic if I'm being honest, so I apologize for that, I had no intention of that, but it does make a neat metaphor I don't know. If domestic violence is usually mutual, does it make any other better, or rather, the other worse?

There seems to be quite a few of us in here, if you've ever seen this poll I ran It's pretty tragic though that a group dedicated to accepting those who have traditionally not fit in with society, been marginalized, or outright hated are so bigoted and sexist. I hope this sub doesn't fall down that route

I do tell my friends I love them, and them to me. It doesn't do shit The problem isn't with men not being able to express emotion, it's with society not allowing men to express emotion. A lot of trans men talk about being emotional and vulnerable with people and getting disgust back And no, DV against men is not any less severe or less common

To be fair I think it was saying how neanderthals had no gendered labor. I don't have enough knowledge in anthropology to say anything more about that claim though

Yeah, even when I tell those around me- there's always some hesitancy and an air of disbelief. It usually causes awkwardness and discomfort. And why wouldn't it tbh. It's so hard to talk about, so hard to change our lines of thinking I understand the stats of DV and SA show they are not gendered issues, but my mind reverts to the thinking of "men are abusers, women are victims". It's so hard to shake off

Agree with all. It seems the longer I'm in this group, the more I feel in a third party. For me I'm certainly not right, and I'm definitely much more left, but I don't think either side cares or even accepts a lot of what we advocate for. But people and society hate change- with social media it will probably spread quickly, but it will always be slow by human metrics, ie several years to be clear, men do not cause more violence, they just don't. we count male violence, and we refuse to count fem…

For me I think there's absolutely zero problem of being vigilant and cautious at night. My problem comes when we're banking on that very low chance of being victimized by men, and never women. If you fear both equally, I have no qualms

While I know the stats show differently, I still have the biases of "men as perpetrators, women as victims". I think it's a deep bias pretty much all of us have. Doing my best to overcome it

I'm more of anti gender norms sort of guy so I'm of course biased, and I get why gendered things exist, but it still feels discriminatory to me to leave out a privelage for something you were born with and had zero choice in whatsoever Things like surgery centers, and to an extent religious areas, I argue are different because while they may be difficult to access to, one can still generally take the steps to get there Like I said, I understand them, but I don't like any spaces that discriminate…

It's kind of insane the amount of misinformation that has been spread. I was telling my friends the experiences of trans men I've heard and talked to and they seemed like shocked men go through anything bad at all. Definitely, and even today in our society we still see the bias of men as perpetrators, women as victims. I feel like even young boys are getting to be seen as problems (even though DV isn't gendered). This post and my comment sum up my feelings well on this Personally though, I don't really think that men are necessarily socialized to do more crime than women are. I think we have a bias towards males and male perpetrated crime, but also a massive lack of understanding in female perpetrators and…

People want harsher punishments for males Males get harsher sentencing than females. Even white males get harsher sentences than women of any race Take a look at domestic violence and sexual assault statistics and definitions. Domestic violence and sexual assault statistics don't seem to be gendered Just take a look around for examples of men being villainized. There was an outcry of single U…

Do we know why Australia's numbers show men commit 80% of DV? All the stats I see show DV isn't gendered, in fact because of women's shelters women commit a significant amount more of DV, currently I don't think think in a nation of millions and millions there would realistically be such a statistical discrepancy between other nations. I feel like there's definitely some sexism and suspicious activity going on I know academia has its problems, but gender studies seems to be a toxic swamp

This is probably the best representation I've ever seen of men's issues, despite me not relating to the abuse, which I am sorry you went through. The apathy, anger, resentment, everything you mentioned is indeed a byproduct of our current political culture, and I think more are realizing it but Andrew Tate and Jordan Peterson are symptoms of the problem, not the cause. I am seeing a sentiment arising as well, of a "I don't hate men, I love my father and husband". Crazily reminiscent of the "I'm not racist, my friend is black" What absolutely concerns me though is internalized misogyny is pointed out, but internalized misandry is encouraged at times. At times an adherence of internalized misandry is also heralded as non-toxic masculinity And yet, many say misandry doesn't exist, socially or systematically

Irl I see more acceptance than ever, but online, I feel that it's a byproduct of men often being a scapegoat for the left. Humans have an amazing ability to adapt to different cultures. If you're surrounded by a culture for long enough, eventually you too will think, talk, and walk like them

I actually don't know all the stats but it was just a low hanging fruit of an example, to be honest. But I am assuming that more men voting right, even if they're people of color, is not a coincidence. But that's ignorant conjecture on my end
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/06/24 07:23 AM

Fair enough. My point was to just say that I don't think we should be expecting of men in particular to become so radicalized they can't control their emotions and commit crimes. Maybe I misinterpreted what you said, if I did I apologize. But the idea of young men being ignorant, strong, violent, hateful, and impulsive is one I have an especially strong disdain for Not saying it doesn't happen, but there's a lot of prejudice there. I mean, yeah gang related violence is a pretty vague term as is- but it would explain the homicide rates. But yeah the robberies mostly occur because men can't go into sex work, which you might already know I can't find my source anymore unfortunately but it was from the FBI. Maybe I misread something. Nonetheless, I expect males to do more killing via violence by proxy. And what is counted as killing is a legal gray area. If I coerce someone to penetrate me, I'm a rapist. If I coerce someone to…

To be fair, men are much, much more likely to be killed by a stranger than a woman. Women are much more likely to be killed by someone they know. But this is all misleading Men make up 80% of homicides, and this seems to be gang related violence. The spousal killings ratio of sex is around 60:40 male:female, and I have heard it was pretty much the same before women's shelters, which I believe honestly. Before women's shelters, DV was pretty evenly split. Now women commit more DV than men

Because here was a point when she said something along the lines of “well men are disproportionately killing and or assaulting women”. As for necrophilia, probably just a bias against men possibly less obvious when a woman does it. Really not convinced women aren't as crazy as men are. Especially if sexual assault isn't gendered, either

I suppose I should preface this by saying I identify as an agender male, since I never felt masculine enough to fit in with men, but not feminine enough to fit in with women. The other side here is women couldn't work for a long time, so the criminal justice system was founded by men. Keep in mind feminist academia, gender studies, and crime statistics have a huge bias against men. Men very rarely report crimes, are more likely to be arrested for the same crimes, and other biases Ever wonder why 99% of rapes are female victims with 100% male perpetrators? It's because the definition doesn't allow for being forced to penetrate. Jesus, Ghandhi, MLK... Fuck, my bad, I forgot to say fictional. But I do appreciate these anyway Definitely. I think a large number of men wish to go out in a blaze of glory, not just because they're doing something good, but because they've been taught that doing this is the best way to maximize their self worth and reputation. "Men are utility objects and women are sex objects" may be a simplification, but it's a very powerful way of conceptualising things and I'm so grateful you've said it. I've been trying to put my finger on that exact idea for awhile now. It's something I think is often forgotten by society, that we all suffer, and it's usually not just a little suffering. I had started seeing the difference in opinions before the man vs bear debate, but the trend has certainly shed some light on things and also shown me that society is still making progress on its misandry. I think it will change in a few years, thankfully. Still does make me sad to feel seen as more of a weapon or a soldier rather than a human first and foremost. It's caused me great dysphoria. I identify as agender to get rid of these gender roles I was born into as a man, but I feel I have absolutely nowhere to turn to as a male. Yes. Not much unfortunately. I have talked with my therapist about how I feel like men make the world worse and that I feel heavy collective guilt for men committing most crime She is a cis woman, so that probably has something to do with it. But it's felt more like words of affirmation and "stop blaming yourself for something you didn't do". I agree, but I do think that at times it even grows to just an outright lack of empathy, not even just running out of empathy I think a lot of males have had a time where they explain their problems and then someone says "imagine being a woman" The amount of people I have met who seem to think men are evil by default, and good men are the exception. Domestic violence stats tend to disagree https://domesticviolenceresearch.org/domestic-violence-facts-and-statistics-at-a-glance/ "Among large population samples, 57.9% of IPV reported was bi-directional, 42% unidirectional; 13.8% of the unidirectional violence was male to female (MFPV), 28.3% was female to male (FMPV)"

Oh damn that flew over my head haha. Yeah I agree. Unfortunately, humans are as clever and awe inspiring as we are good and evil

I don't believe misogyny is the reason all of these exist. In a vacuum men, women, nb, males, females, intersex, etc are all capable of being assholes. Misandry and misogyny fuel each other, just look at Womad) I'm sure we can link a lot of things back to misogyny, but I'm sure you could link them back to misandry going even further back, rinse and repeat

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. I was a staunch feminist for awhile, until I started feeling ostracized and criticized for being a man. But that's on me for not seeing potential patterns sooner. I often second guess myself And while I'll never stop supporting women's rights, until I saw statistics regarding what men go through, I did believe that men had relatively little issues in comparison to women. After seeing empirical data, and the fact that a lot of gender studies statis…

I'm not understanding what is meant by Destiny here. Do you mind explaining?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/04/24 02:23 AM

Basically in sum, agender is non-binary, but non-binary is not agender Though once in a rare while I see agender on its own spectrum, just like asexuality is outside of the allosexual spectrum
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/04/24 02:21 AM
1

That is interesting, but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if a large number of men here are due to men feeling hurt or lost, and just trying to find some sort of space that isn't toxic or misses the issue entirely
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/04/24 12:40 AM
1

Non binary is an umbrella term, it can represent a wide array of different genders, agender technically falls under it, though sometimes I've seen it outside of it
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/04/24 12:36 AM

I do agree, and to be honest I try to do away with pretty much all labels in my life. Right now I just feel like it invokes tribalism
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 06:59 PM
5

I agree. I believe both men and women have it equally hard, not that you can quantify such subjective experiences, but in different areas. I often say, men are utility objects, women are sex objects. Society has a long way to go
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 05:42 PM
6

Another thing I think people forget, is I believe a majority of men have tried to reach out for help, have tried to be open, but literally no one cares. Women can't make men be open, but they can be there to listen, and I think it's a moral obligation of all of us to help those in need And even then, it doesn't fix everything. I have a good friends, we hug and say I love you to each other, but it does nothing for me I don't think we should blame the victim so much either. Obesity is a hugely com…

Ok I think I gotcha now. Definitely have noticed that as well, that feminine traits are encouraged in men, but not in the ones people are dating, often. And feminity is encouraged, but not masculinity Could you also classify it as a sexism issue? Like both sides are sexist, but not in the same ways
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 05:14 PM

I've definitely seen the conservative vs liberal, but not sure if I've seen the androcentric or gynocentric parts. If anything the world has felt like it was getting more gynocentric to me until around 2020 or so, maybe even a bit later. Feels like now we're seeing that pendulum start to swing
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 05:03 PM
2

Hmm, I think I'm having a hard time envisioning the gynocentric liberalism vs androcentric rigidness here, and how they differ
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 04:54 PM
17

I agree and disagree, but I'll just explain real quick I'm certainly not conservative and am definitely progressive in my views, I just don't identify as leftist anymore because no one seems to really care on the left, if anything I feel more disdain than any help or even general apathy
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 04:46 PM
11

Rigidness how? Because I'm not so sure I agree, as men were more liberal than women at times
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 04:43 PM
2

I think it is kind of scary the stuff that is ignored, and often encouraged in society. Both misogyny and misandry) can kill, and never lead to anything good I still don't understand how you have the mental resolve to keep going this strong either lol
/r/EverydayMisandry10/04/24 02:58 AM
2

I agree, I'm just going the inverse way. I don't think feminism is a good name for a group that calls for female and male advocacy. And if that isn't then of course this sub isn't either
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/04/24 01:22 AM
12

I wonder if part of the problem is simply a "use it or lose it" sort of deal, where individuals who aren't as encouraged to tune into their emotions will eventually succumb to synaptic pruning, and thus they have a hard time talking about emotions, even if they're not embarrassed I really struggle to find words and ways to express myself. After many years of indirectly being told to be stoic, it's a hard turnaround point. And I won't lie, some people are a bit patronizing when it comes to males …
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/24 05:53 PM
1

Yeah I don't think contradict was the right word, but I guess moreso there's no yin to that yang, if that makes any sense. To me if trans men are men, and cis men are men, we should probably have an autism in men sub, if doesn't exist/hasn't been banned NB is harder to pin. I don't have anything against a nb sub but it might just be so niche that it dies out pretty quick
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/24 08:08 AM
1

Those are good reasons but I guess I feel like 2 and 3 partly contradict each other, mainly if there's no equal space for men with autism. If there is a space for that, then sure. 4 seems like it can go either way for me. I would rather approach the situation as a nonbinary than what I was assigned as at birth, but that's my experience But I still think cis men should be able to post on there, even if it's just a question. And vice versa
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/24 07:53 AM
1

Which, personally, I don't blame them. I suppose it is a place for males in the end
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/24 07:43 AM
2

I suppose the sub is leftwingMALEadvocates. I guess that also doesn't necessarily mean a man
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/24 05:00 AM
7

Thank you. I thought the same thing. I imagined men would be the most numerous, but I didn't imagine by this much lol, or even that NB would outnumber women (for awhile anyway)
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/24 04:48 AM
7

My best guess is disagreement with the non cis men part. Yeah I think that's a pretty weird thing to say, but I think all around this might not be the best post for this sub, not to judge or shame
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/24 01:51 AM
4

Touche. You're right I should have, but I suppose I was thinking the more than one fell into the non binary umbrella, but I'm not sure
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/04/24 12:58 AM
4

That's how I felt too. I thought on what/who I am and realized that I don't ever want predefined gender roles to define or limit me, nor have I felt very masculine or feminine throughout my life. I'm all for challenging gender roles and norms, but I think we should acknowledge that some individuals enjoy those roles and norms. I don't think it's bad either way
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/24 07:48 PM
2

It was the least I could do, and I actually do agree. I think it's wrong to put a transgender option, and or trans man/woman option. And just disrespectful Certainly they have more nuanced views, and I am interested in interactions. I've heard people say that being a woman you get tons of attention at all times, at least if you're young, then as a man nearly none. I've even heard people say older women and men are more alike in this way. But I believe this is too generalized to say for all
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/24 07:29 PM
3

I'll go first since I started this. I identify my gender as agender, but due to biological and medical reasons I still count my sex as male; XY chromosomes
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates08/04/24 07:13 PM
3

That's something I've sorta seen as well. Perhaps the entire point is whooshing over my head but why do we genderize these issues rather than just call out the toxicity? And I guess I don't understand why toxic masculinity took off and toxic feminity did not And I do believe we are too focused today (and likely in earlier times) about such a divide in beliefs between men and women. Even ones that didn't seem to be exactly truthful, such as domestic abuse being a gendered issue
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/04/24 09:25 AM

Wait, since when? Or do you mean both liberal and conservative?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/04/24 09:06 PM

If I'm reading correctly, I believe op is saying men/males generally relate more to this stuff That being said, I agree with you. There's no reason not to befriend a man, and talking with some other dudes in dms, it gets intimate pretty quick, at least when I ask them to talk. I see a lot of men want rights for women but feel bad about all the misandry online. Misogyny is definitely an issue as well but in my, likely biased, opinion, I see more talk of women's health than men's. These guys seem …

For me, it's that a male's experiences are often not worth talking about, or more aptly spending time on I'm not sure how equal a man and woman's experiences are. And unfortunately there's a huge data bias against men in all walks of sexual assault and harassment statistics Yeah there's things I don't know if men experience as much, like catcalling, and I don't know how much either gender experiences sexual harassment as much (as in frequency per person), but as a male is does feel like things g…

Ohhh you're totally right I forgot that centrist is the new conservative. My bad lol That being said, I have seen a bit of pushback against the latter case on Reddit. And I don't know if it's my algorithm but Communism is becoming more and more favorable to a lot of left wing groups
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/04/24 09:14 PM

But yeah you're right. Reddit is super left leaning. I see centrist views taken as conservative a lot
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/04/24 06:55 PM

Yeah, I agree, but unfortunately I don't think they believe it's a hasty generalization at all Obviously it's a lot more complex than men being the issue for a lot of things

Not being pedantic, I don't use it, but is Tumblr more left leaning than Reddit?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/04/24 05:51 PM

I think men have a part to play, absolutely, and perhaps I'm misunderstanding all of this, but isn't this a bit of a generalization against women, that they all have negative views of men? Ethically and morally I think they're obligated to help men's issues, just as we are women's and anyone else's. We need everyone's opinions and views to really make progress
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/04/24 09:10 AM

Oh I absolutely do too, I just didn't mention it because I didn't know if anyone else knew it or cared lol
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates03/04/24 05:11 AM

Absolutely. I believe it's our moral and ethical obligation to help those in need. Men, women, and everyone outside and inbetween need our help

Thing is, it seemed like thought out debate. I can copy and paste the comment that inspired this post if you like, but I don't want harassment or brigading so I won't link it I see it a lot though, but I feel like it's sort of a layman's view, no offense to anyone of course. But I'm a huge hobbiest in a lot of different fields, and I see the vast majority of people still sticking with outdated and disproven theories The Sapir-Whorf hypothesis, for example, is still widely believed despite being …

Does anyone else feel some sort of societal pressure to atone for other men? The nth room or something scandal in South Korea I guess had a bunch of men watching porn of blackmailed women and such, numbering to apparently 15k. AI porn, kidnapping attempts, I guess it just makes me feel like society expects me to answer for that and take the blame, even when I don't identify as a man. Does anyone else feel this way?
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/24 08:10 AM
3

Noble, sure, and I have no problem with that. My problem is that it's more or less seen as a thing for a guy to do (and women honestly may not get as much recognition for when they do it) but it's that it's so prevalent to wish to go out in a blaze of glory, just as it is to wish to go to war But perhaps I'm mistaking fantasy for actual desires
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/24 04:09 AM
6

I do agree. I've told these sorts of things to a few people and I'm always seen as a misogynist and it does change their view of me. With some people I know it feels like I have to say that women 100% have it worse and men are the problem in order just to be properly heard, even though I don't believe that Also, some estimates place men for higher deaths of dv due to suicide
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/24 03:15 AM
7

Yeah, and that's why I'm here. I'm tired of being told that if I'm offended by all those then I'm part of the problem, or that it's ok because misandry irritates, misogyny kills
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/24 01:45 AM

I watched the whole video, and I'm not gonna lie, it feels like almost EVERY post about men struggling feels like it's blaming men and toxic masculinity for turning away from feminism, never criticizing feminism or Western society They never really talk about the deeper issues of men. I'm sure it's been like this a lot throughout history, but I notice the same thing. I believe that people are more inclined to support their party than their actual values. And we know that people will actively campaign against what would help then, there were Jews for Hitler, women against RvW, and so many others. I guess it is just a lot of propaganda too I don't want to say "everyone is a sheep", but it does open my eyes to the free will debate
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/04/24 07:24 PM

I think that's probably more akin to reality, however I do believe that they often evolve into scapegoats. Feminism has the patriarchy, MRAs have feminism, yada yada yada But you might have agreed with me and just been adding onto my comment
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/04/24 05:09 AM

It feels like every political movement has a scapegoat, but it changes on the time period I think once the election comes around, the gender war will reaalllyy slow down. Or maybe it won't. Humans are terrible at predicting the future

I agree with all your points, and I do think feminism has taken a virtue signaling approach to men's issues, but I do actually want to point out this is more of a clap back at criticism for men being told to carry their own weight Individually, yes people probably care. Feminism as a whole? I doubt it. It's also kind of in direct opposition to a lot of the things they say, that feminism benefits men and there's no reason for men to join a men's group otherwise, but then we've seen people say it'…

Something I saw a few people point out is how disturbing it is that a lot of men imagine dying in a flame of glory, stopping a bunch of criminals and saving everyone else's lives in the process. And they all pointed out that sacrificing yourself makes you a real man

That's a big reason I was thinking about, financial health and all. I'm glad gender norms are changing for everyone, but it does feel like men are still expected to provide, and a lot of this equality talk seems stuck on the idea of punching up, which at the end of the day, is still punching
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/03/24 06:31 PM

That is what I was wondering, if men are often just too afraid to protest due to social consequences, and that men are often told they have it better so suck it up

What do the parts you appreciate look like? I'm curious about what it's like, how critical it is of itself, does it acknowledge it's for women? Does it try to say it's for men too? Yeah, my boss seems like she is very empowered by feminism, but fails to see she is not a good person. Yeah, I'm honestly done being a leftist. My views are still progressive, but theeft makes me feel like a tyrant, even though I identify as agender I do think things are changing, but I don't think older leftists will change their tune much. I do think in time they'll/we'll become the boomers of tomorrow, with outdated views that are controversial But by God I hope the world doesn't become as androcentric as it is gynocentric today

I hear a lot that women banded together while men never did. I would think there's something to explain this Right now, in the West, it feels as though people are just now realizing men have a lot of issues too, including other men. I do think a lot of men are scared to voice their problems and or are huge advocates for feminism, and that men's issues pale in comparison to women's

Same with what I've seen pretty much. Usually it also seems to be along the lines of how men want to subjugate women and are mad women are being treated as equals or that guys don't have power. Never actually addressing the deeper issues

I absolutely hate to say it, but if I ever did go for a relationship (asexual, but also pan), I probably won't make the first move towards women in this current political climate. I think it is irrational but I'm still scared. I'd gladly date anyone if they showed interest in me, though

Yeah, I should say it was definitely an exaggeration on that end, but I do have the actual fear. I work around a lot of kids and usually high school girls watch over the kids, and that does make me paranoid I definitely do need to explore a little more in life, the last thing I want is to be close minded and shut people out. I know it's illogical, and I know it's just my emotional brain feeling at risk and alert. The increasing tribalism of gender issues isn't helping either
