It really depends: now kids start learning English also in some kindergarten, I started when I was 8; usually by middle school you start at least a secondary language, which one depends on geography more then anything: for us it is more common German for example, for Germans more common I believe is French, I live in Greece and here people speak Italian! I actually see good points in this reasoning, also it is important to say that SIMPs are needed to keep society working. On the plus side, having more opportunities for us would mean also gaining more skills/be more employable....add to it a minimalistic/don't waste money on women mindset and when SHTF and taxes go up to support all the unemployed well....you can always move or just outright retire! Sad to say I am hearing more and more of this, 2 ex colleagues of mine did it....I am not sure about one (although she did not pay for her ring and honeymoon herself, I give the doubt on his ring), the other one a)asked the guy b)made him pay rings c)organized a trip to do it and inviting family and made him pay for it....and then he paid for wedding, honeymoon and whatever. Well almost everybody I know has a parent/children relationships purely based on convenience, on both sides. I am italian, when she says guys want to split bills usually they are from the north, she could move south! It depends really, i think the biggest problem is when you study similar languages, there is a lot of risk of confusing words! :-) then every language has its own particularities, so every time at least for me was different, never got easier!
