I found myself liking some things he did which were (probably?) meant to be abusive. Now I am starting to wonder.

What you mention sounds like a great test. My experience was being groomed for ? (the future?) Some things I questioned that he said (responses to my questions) (or averting the question all together) were common sense red flags. But I felt I was strong enough to endure and let it go on. Doing that could have put me in a very unsafe predicament. My narc is older and I feel very set into the mold. Chilling.

@FDS Newbie this is so good. Exactly this is what happens! Isn’t it a strange game they play? Here I am really “buying into” it all, and not realizing I am being “groomed.” It certainly makes me wonder about all the time the N spends in cultivating the “appliance” and then just tearing it apart.

I came back to edit my comment. And you must be right because you are out in the “real dating” world and have these experiences. I misstated somewhat. I don’t think a guy should necessarily strive for friendship first. It is important early on to let a woman know you are hoping for intimacy because you are attracted to her. This has always happened for me because I notice that a guy is INTERESTED ...in me. If a guy is feeling tongue-tied or nervous, I meant it should help if they start the proce…

It takes a LONG time to warm a woman up (usually) from being a stranger to becoming intimate (or wanting intimacy). Take the time; do it right; you won’t be sorry. Smile a lot. Ask her questions. Listen to her. Establish closeness (as in friend) first. Establish trust. These things show interest, which leads to communication, which leads to seduction.

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
