Stay or moveI guess I look at "provideing" from a different point of view. You're the equivalent of Yoda to your kids. You need to provide them with traing to go out and do battle with the world. If your finances suffer and it puts you in a metaphorical hut in swamp, so be it. | /r/Divorce_Men | 31/07/26 09:56 AM
Wife angry about equitable financial splittingNo. Splitting house equity is typical. That rule helps SAHM's survive after a divorce. | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/07/26 07:55 PM
How to break it to the kids?First of all, kids are superpowered intuition machines. They know already. OK, so they don't know it's divorce, but they know the two of you have emotionally separated. So tonight (not next week... Tonight) figure out how you will present it to the kids. Do it as a family. You are and always shall be Mom and Dad. Act like it. Let them know you will always love them and care for them. Answer all age appropriate questions. Telling them why the marriage ended is not age appropriate. Never talk badl… | /r/Divorce_Men | 29/07/26 11:31 AM
Men who feel the divorce came out of the blue, what kind of conversation do you wish your wife had with you and how far in advance do you wish she’d had it?This is the right approach. | /r/Divorce_Men | 28/07/26 10:39 PM

How long did you wait after your divorce to start dating again? And how long is too soon?Right now I'm saying that I will never date again. Some of us are at that point. | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/07/26 07:26 PM
Just startedNeed more information. What state? Can you cooperate? What assets are there? What's your support system? Are there kids? | /r/Divorce_Men | 27/07/26 12:09 AM
Staying is a very meh marriage?Divorce rips people apart. If you've been lurking here you should know that. You shouldn't destroy a family because you're "bored". Now if you have gone to therapy, dug down deep and worked at everything... If your kid is in danger... If this is a toxic home... Those are serious. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/07/26 10:40 PM
Mid-divorce, 20 year marriage. I still love her and I miss her, and I never want to speak to her ever again.I'm in the same place. She filed three weeks from our 20th anniversary. We're still going through the process. I haven't taken off the ring and I miss her company. It's weird because she's living with n my mother-in-law suite. I talk to her about the kids, that's it. It's so painful interacting with someone who is in the middle of ripping out your soul. | /r/Divorce_Men | 26/07/26 11:07 AM
I love my wife with my whole heart, but she wants a divorce.Look up Rachel Sloan on YouTube. She specializes in men going through unwanted divorces. Her videos helped me a lot. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/26 01:03 PM
how to enjoy life againVolunteering is good to. People are greatful for you and there's not so much pressure to be social all the time. You can keep your head down and work if you want or interact if you're in that kind of mood. Plus it makes you feel like you're worth a d@mn. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/07/26 11:17 AM
The importance of this communityRight on. This has made me see that I'm not alone in my experiences and emotions. | /r/Divorce_Men | 22/07/26 12:38 PM
Men who are separated but still in the same houseYup. That's me. I'm buying her out of the house and she's in the mother in law suite. It works well because our 50/50 custody turns into something like 80/20 in my favor. She doesn't spend much time with the kids. I don't know how I feel about it all. I avoid her when possible. Interestingly, it's painful to smell her perfume. Reminds me of married life, so it hurts deeply to smell it. The arrangement is great for me because of all the kid time I get, but it is weird for sure. | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/26 11:55 AM
Controlling partner and proving involvementPractical things: 1) Don't leave the family home. 2) keep a journal of all the good you do. The documentation helps. 3) Drive them places. Transportation is oddly important. 4) Gather evidence using your phone. Take pictures showing you at events. Use an app such as Day One (it saves map coordinates proving you were there). 5) Take time off work to do things for your kids. Ya gotta show how serious you are. 6) Memorize social security numbers, teacher names, clothing sizes, doctors, etc. Be able… | /r/Divorce_Men | 20/07/26 01:34 AM

AmazingCareful. You're assuming a lot here. Abuse, toxic environments, narcissism, addiction, and any number of other factors may be at play. For me and my children, this divorce is really bad. That's not the case for everyone. | /r/Divorce_Men | 18/07/26 07:27 PM
Ex-wife's ex-boyfriend is now her "roommate" who cuts the grass. How do I handle helping my daughter move in?You are not under any obligations. Not to your ex. Not to your grown-a$$ daughters. Anything you do now is a pure gift. "Reasonable" isn't meaningful in this context. | /r/Divorce_Men | 17/07/26 01:03 PM
It appears my wife and I are getting divorced….Also remember that the kids have a job to do- childhood. They aren't ready to hear anything negative about their Mom. They should never report back to to you about what she's doing. They need to get in half their time with her. These things are for the kids sake. Not hers. | /r/Divorce_Men | 16/07/26 07:18 PM

Blaming social media and AIAI is an agreement machine. Anyone who asks if they should get a divorce will get a well written argument for getting a divorce. Ask if your spouse has a personality disorder and AI will tell you in clear language how messed up they really are. | /r/Divorce_Men | 12/07/26 01:17 PM
I wanted a nice simple life with my wife.Don't open any containers. Put them directly into trash. Selling them is too much time & energy. Start contacting people to take the animals. Hug each kid right now. That is not a joke. Set down the phone and physically hug each kid. Their Mom left and they need this. | /r/Divorce_Men | 11/07/26 08:24 PM
What to do?If you can, get a text or email that says the same thing you have in this comment. Custody can go sideways very quickly. Drive the kid everywhere you can and document that driving. For whatever reason, transportation is huge in custody decisions. Also know that leaving the family home puts you at further risk. | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/07/26 08:39 AM
Reconciliation but not for yourselfWhat would you tell your son when he's older? Would you strongly encourage him to stay in a toxic relationship? | /r/Divorce_Men | 10/07/26 07:45 AM
When should I tell her I want to divorce?Just be careful. Status quo can be a big deal in court. She needs to stay on your insurance. Her typical bills need to get paid, etc... Also, if she's a narcissist (which sounds plausible) get ready to be strategic. She's going to get nasty and you need to play nice. Document everything daily, especially your good behavior. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/07/26 06:58 AM
Wife left w/kids (separation?)In divorce and even in separation, nothing is ever fair. Forget making things fair or balanced. Step 1) Figure out how to give your kids the very best of you. 2) Find a lawyer. At least talk to three good ones. This will set you up for success later on for lots of reasons. 3) Continue to be nice. Being kind helps the kids. 4) Document all your nice stuff. It may help in court, because judges get sick of parents bashing each other. 5) Get a therapist. If you can't, find a friendly ear to talk to.… | /r/Divorce_Men | 02/07/26 09:58 PM
Separation puts dad at risk of losing house?1 Rule in divorce. If you want it, keep it near. Stay put. Stay involved with your kids. | /r/Divorce_Men | 30/06/26 02:35 AM
Nobody told me that 'no closure' also applied to the rebuilding of a lifeYa, I have something similar. I got an explanation for her quitting, but it takes some serious mental gymnastics to accept. And of course it is 100% my fault. I heard something that really helped me though. She's doomed. She'll do this to every relationship she has and will keep messing up her life. We can't go down that road. We f#'d up and we'll keep getting better. That has helped me a ton in so many ways. | /r/Divorce_Men | 25/06/26 09:29 AM
Fathers DayI'm getting divorced from my wife soon, and I'd hate a thoughtful gift, so you have the right instincts. I'd want a watch or garden tool. I guess it depends on the man. | /r/Divorce_Men | 04/06/26 11:00 AM
