Complacency is corrosive to any LTR - it's like rust. It sneaks up on you, little by little, until you notice the problem. Understood, and thank you for the references. In relation to my line of work I've been conditioned deeply to identify and eliminate complacency and bad habits. Failure to do so has life and death consequences. Writing up self-assessments that are honest and critical is a regular task for me. With no disrespect intended to anyone participating here, I feel that to a small deg…

Copy all. Respectfully, the day to day is far better than I thought a relationship would be. Rainbows and butterflies were furthest from my mind when I got into this. To put it simply, I may not have enough faith in myself. I came into this extremely jaded and cynically, and the fact that things are good just compels me to start questioning whatever I can. If by some statistical miracle this reaches homeostasis, then great, I'll rol…

you sound like youre very much afraid of losing her / slipping up. this will show in your day to day interactions with her. this insecurity is very beta and unattractive. Excellent point, and something I am not paying enough attention to. Internal motivation and insecurity will slip through the cracks.

Thank you for the perspective. I am enjoying what I have right now. Like every fool that steps into the abyss, "I am not committed to this". I expect that five years from now we will not be together. Right now, I have a low-drag relationship and regular, awesome sex. I will go on my merry way if either one of those things changes without substantial and temporary cause. These are not daily sticking points, but the two things that seem significant to me when I assess where I'm at. You're right in…

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
