That's pretty scary (to me anyway). Earlier this year a man who I know works security for the dutch railway (I know that that's not the same as being a cop) wanted me to be his gf on the side....his main gf and him have an open relationship.. and I declined. But it did get me thinking about how risky it could be to date an actual cop. If you have a messy breakup this person could have many more tools in his hands to ruin your life. Regular men can be dangerous and unstable during and after a bre…

So here's a thought I had in response to women saying they think guys in uniform are handsome; You've probably even heard of women saying they have a uniform fetish right? Maybe men look good in uniform because 1=most if not all army/navy/armed forces uniforms are designed to make the average male shape look better (I'm saying this from a fashion school background). 2=most guys, when they need to pick their own outfit, don't dress well. So if you like a guy in uniform, keep yourself from swoonin…

TLDR: consider the possibility that your bf thinks you're not intelligent. I used to have a friend who did that. Turns out she thought very lowly of me. Turns out she could only be friends with people she considered inferior to her (she tried to hide it by saying "I'm just really competitive with my friends" but the truth is that she needed to feel superior), and if I had a skill she didn't have she would try to learn it asap. At first I thought she was just interested in things I was doing. I…

I noticed how much better I was suddenly treated when I switched from my own name to a unisex/gender neutral nickname for my yt username. No more men trying to correct me. Suddenly people just believed what I said and didn't try to correct or argue.

Aside from the obvious reasons why he's an asshole, here's my opinion. I don't go to restaurants for the food, but I also wouldn't go to a restaurant which I knew served bad food. I can make delicious things at home, even some things some people think are complicated (indian, south korean, japanese, etc, from scratch) so that's one less reason to go to a restaurant. I can have those things at home and control every thing that goes into them and not spend a lot of money. I go to the restaurant fo…

One thing that bothers me is that some (too many imo) men won't even be civil with you in general social interaction just because they think you don't fall in the fuckable category. Some men will spin this into "women forcing men to find them attractive" which is really missing the point and reveals so much about their thought process. Some men will argue that what I am describing doesn't exist or that I'm complaining about men not being super nice to me. Enough men have been honest about what I…

I'm very happy to check up on my plants every day. I say "how are you doing today?" and check if they need water and pick up anything that may have fallen onto the soil. I also felt a feeling of victory because I was able to grow and expand the mint plant I bought in the grocery store whilst the downstairs neighbor couldn't. He was so sure the grocery store did something to those plants (in the herb section) that made it so you couldn't grow them to be significantly bigger. I don't feel the need…

I got carrots, mint and chinese cabbage up the wazoo but my lavender seeds won't germinate. I even went through stratification and still nothing.. Having said that plants are definitely more worthwhile than men. Just the aesthetic value that plants contribute to my apartment is enough for me to consider plants more worthwhile than men.

All in all I just hate it when you say "no" to something and are very clear about it, but then the guy tries to sneakily manipulate you into doing what you said no to. This is such a good example of the fact that he doesn't respect you.

I do like high quality anime. But that's a short list so you're soon through that list. "Giving gaming related gifts to someone who isn't passionate about it is so thoughtless." I wholeheartedly agree. I wish I had seen it for what it was sooner. We live and learn. He spent our relationship either keeping me low or tearing me down, and I built him up. I have it on good authority that he's miserable now. But I'm willing to bet he doesn't see that as a direct result of his actions but is blaming m…

The bf in question has what she suspects is autism spectrum disorder. She thinks his hurtful behavior is explained because "he doesn't understand social norms". I have classic autism and I think he's just an ass. He wants everything his way and has tried many manipulation tactics. He even treated her pretty well for the first 3 months (which is how he reeled her in) and then slowly became less nice to her and yet expects her to stay even with his bad treatment of her. IMO he understands social n…

Like we're supposed to happily start watching Bleach or whatever shitty anime he watches, meanwhile they'd never even consider learning about fashion/art/any stereotypically feminine hobby. I laughed at this because it's true. My recent ex tried to get me interested in his interests. I had to sit through at least 10 episodes of "one piece" before he begrudgingly accepted I wasn't into it. I knew after 3 episodes. I'm not much into anime to begin with though. At most I watch one series a year. Mo…

This was very insightful, thank you. I've never been on OLD. I started to want to give it a go in January just before the epidemic became known. I ended up not making a profile. I've been absorbing and learning so much from FDS and discussing it with a female friend who I knew would be open to it. I look at heterosexual relationships in a different light now. Good point. If a woman likes a men's hobby she's not genuinely interested, not as good at is as a man, or doesn't understand it like a man does. For example the "fake gamer girl" and the reactions women get when they like repairing cars or something like that. The ex before the most recent one thought he was better at repairs/home improvement because he was a man. I wasn't allowed to do it because he said he would do it. This confirms my suspicion. Many thanks for the links, I've added them to my watch later list. I've noticed guys complain about movies that have a female lead who is kicking ass and taking names, and they call them "female wish fulfillment" or "pandering to the female fantasy" or something along those lines. If you bring up there are plenty of movies like that for men, always have been, you got trouble. Plenty of movies where the average joe gets to play the hero/adventurer/spy and then gets the…

This was really impressive. I honestly don't have much understanding of politics and society. Lately I've been asking myself if I even want to put myself back into the dating market. The global situation and lockdown has given me a very easy excuse not to go back out there so I've had plenty of time to think about things. On one side I'm thinking I want to give it another go because I'm a new person on the inside (with the self confidence and self worth that has been growing over the years, and …

I wonder why some men keep insisting on keeping this big divide between what is considered the things of men and the things of women. Did this big divide come from a sexist society, so the men are so afraid to be seen as feminine that they keep this structure in place?

Men have us coming and going then. Because they consider calling a woman manly an insult, and a woman who is into manly stuff is not a real woman, but if she likes feminine stuff it's also weak/inferior/frivolous.

Thanks to the comments in this thread I'm starting to realize that is likely the case. What makes me a little sour then is that he had no problem asking me to make and fix items for him (I made plenty of sewing projects for him, and when something needed repair I was naturally the person to take care of it), despite it being "an inferior hobby". He didn't even ask, he took it for granted I would do it.

I never understood how gaming and watching movies and tv series for hours on end as beneficial to one's life or well being. I agree. I call those passive hobbies because they don't produce anything other than entertainment and escapism. The ex and I are broken up and I caught myself thinking "doesn't he miss the sense of accomplishment and fulfillment with his hobbies?" but now I realize he may still get those from gaming and watching movies. It's just not me who gets those from those hobbies.

Do you think they are negative towards your interests because they're your (a woman's) interests? So maybe; -if a woman likes feminine interests it's dumb because they're feminine interests and they're not as good as men's interests -if a woman likes male interests it's dumb because she isn't really genuinely interested, doesn't understand the hobby/activity, isn't as good at it as a man would be and can't appreciate it and see it like men do (for example the response to "gamer girls" or women w…

I think seeing this was helpful. Also the less I am actually entertaining the thought of dating men (I also have the option of dating women) the more it makes sense to me that the man should pay. When you pay for dates you're courting me, showing you are invested. When you pay for stuff when the relationship evolves past the dating phase you're showing you are invested by providing for me. When I first read the FDS handbook the "men should pay" bit did not make sense to me. Or at least I thought…

I feel this, but not from a porn perspective. I use "red flag" with the meaning "something might be wrong here". Kind of like a pre-warning. Sometimes a red flag turns out to be something innocent. But that's very rare with men imo. There are things that are at least partially out of someone's control that might prevent them from forming relationships. Like mental health for example. In that case I would say staying single whilst taking care of mental health and working on yourself is the best thing to do, until the time where you are able …

I would even say a man who has never had a relationship at age 30, despite wanting a relationship and trying to get one, is a huge red flag. That means all of the other women he encountered voted "no" on him. I've never met a woman who never had a relationship at age 30. And if they hadn't, despite wanting one and trying to get one, I would consider that very unusual and a sign that something went wrong somewhere. So yeah, red flag there as well.

I don't know if the pool of gay/bi men is bigger than the pool of bi/gay women. Just that the pool of gay/bi women is tiny compared to the pool of het men. Would be nice if the pool of gay/bi women increased.

Good point. The wlw dating pool is a small stagnant pond. It's tiny compared to the amount of hetero men. If I went looking I'm pretty sure I'd have trouble finding a woman (bi or lesbian) who is around my age, in my tiny country and my type and still single. I'd have to fish in the right places and have a whole lot of patience. Meanwhile bi women are still getting approached by lots of het men. I hate it when I get approached for threesomes. Luckily I have not put myself in the position where this could happen often (I've never gone on dating sites). I'm immediately offended when I'm approached for this purpose. The women choose someone that isn't so beautiful that it makes them insecure, but not so ugly that their man won't want to fuck em. You're only there to "rekindle" or "save" their relationship, most of the women aren't into women. You're just a sex toy, a third wheel, so the gu…

I agree. But I would also say it tends to suck a bit less imo. When women are pushy it's annoying, but they don't bother me as much as men have. When women are aggressive I'm not as scared as I have been about men. Many of the things people say that annoys them when dating men/weeding men out I've noticed with women too. Things like not taking no for an answer (so you have to block them), low effort messages "wyd?" and making things too sexual too fast. Some just come off as predatory. I'm not o…

Being able to cook goes with being an adult imo. I won't date a man who can't cook. Both of my exes bragged about being able to cook and tried to impress me. Neither of them were any good at cooking. Thank you for the fun anecdote. Something I've noticed that I find weird; I've always had stereotypical feminine interests (sewing, knitting, crochet, fashion, cooking, flower arranging, interior decorating, etc), even went to fashion school. And I'm pretty sure it's been my "performance of femininity" that attracted my exes in the first place. I don't know why men are so often like this, but I've noticed a trend in men having only passive hobbies (hobbies that don't produce anything. Like watching series, movies, gaming etc). I realized that because of years of long term relationships (4 years, 8 years) in my twenties and early thirties, and me bending myself/molding myself around them, doing stuff I wasn't comfortable with or enthusiastic about for them, under the banner of loyalty, for the sake of the relationship, "just keep an open mind" etc. I had lost sight of who I was and what I liked. I think this is rooted in control because it's easier to control people with weak bodies, I've seen men write they prefer thin and frail girls because they can just pick them up and carry them around if they wanted to. "Simp" is used in different ways now, depending on who is doing the talking. I first encountered the word in the manosphere, where it meant any man who treated a woman well. Now it seems to have gotten into mainstream usage and people who aren't in the manosphere tend to use it to mean "someone who keeps chasing someone who is clearly not interested" or "someone who puts in a lot of effort for someone else who clearly does not reciprocate their feelings". It seems we're in the exact same place in our lives when it comes to men and relationships. You are, imo, asking all the right questions.
