During my last break up (8 year relationship), which lasted longer than I wanted because there was a lot of practical stuff that needed to be taken care of, I took the advice of "just communicate with him" and wrote an email explaining why I broke up with him since I felt like he didn't get it.
It was a pretty long email. His response was dismissive, like I was the bad guy. It seems like in his story I am the bad guy and that I should have just accepted all of his boundary crossing behavior and broken promises.

Now I realize it doesn't matter any more. I can't force him to understand.
My life is a lot better now and that's what counts.
But at that moment I just wanted him to understand and acknowledge how his actions led to the breakup.

Some talkshow guy was giving dating advice for women and said "if you want closure with a man, you're not going to get it because that's not how men work". I wonder if that's really true when the roles are reversed.

Some men can and do really write paragraphs when they're trying to get you to send nudes or get into your bed.
