"aren't women supposed to be brilliant at reading between the lines?" No lol. At least, I'm not, and I've met many women who aren't. Being honest is the best policy, and if you have to lie to trap someone, it probably shouldn't happen in the first place.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/25 04:02 AM

do you tell them about this rule?

I would break up immediately with someone if I learned they had sex with an escort and I would feel very betrayed if they omitted speaking about that. But I suppose different folks, different strokes.

I don't think keeping things from your lover / partner/ whomever is a good foundation. Yeah random people knowing or asking is a no-go and not their business, but I feel a partner should know since it's a pretty big thing.

The more frustrating aspect of this is that men will complain about women not lowering standards or "only wanting chad", then also complain about women settling for them and how paranoid they are about that. It's like they don't understand that if you really think women just want top 1% then advocate for them lowering their standards, you are creating your own hell by saying they should settle for you. But I highly suspect they just can't handle the fact that everyone desires perfection, we are …

It's swinging over to women right now, in my opinion. I'm not sure where you'd exactly put it, there are a lot of factors that'd go into that. But I'm sure the slow move to women being the more critiqued gender will become more and more common until it peaks, then slowly back to men again.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/02/25 10:10 PM

People should be able to express what they like and dislike, as long as they're respectful and not targeting someone. This is true for any gender doing so. People should not shame others. Progress towards this equilibrium should be encouraged.

Oh yeah I mean my gender can be insane too lol it happens I guess

That's called emotional manipulation and is very fucked up.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/25 05:21 PM

Wow thank you for clarifying it. I think then a major problem is miscommunication with rhetoric because people don't like to have an idea pushed onto them when you tell them you have to 'settle' or that they need to 'drop their expectations' or to simply 'choose better' (stuff I've seen here). Maybe new terms or explaining these terms when used would be helpful and avoid a lot of defensiveness, from both men and women. This sort of thing hits very close to home.

Alright, what exactly goes into a rating then? When I hear that, I automatically think attractiveness is the scale people are defaulting to. But I would say attractiveness is a very small part of what makes someone a high caliber dating pool member.
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/25 04:58 PM
2

I don't understand your last paragraph. So a 6/10 woman expecting a 6/10 man? Also, how does getting a lot of women not spoil a man? Does a woman getting a lot of men the same 'value' as her spoil her?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/25 04:47 PM
2

And that doesn't spoil the men to have that much attention?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/25 04:37 PM
7

How you've folded, interesting to see. So you're saying you just don't like women who do hook up culture because you think they spoil themselves with attractive men and thus cannot settle for unattractive men?
/r/PurplePillDebate25/02/25 04:30 PM

Sometimes I feel really weird reading all this because I have never found a man extremely attractive in real life, it's very rare for me to even give a second glance at men, and certainly nothing that adheres to the 'expected' social norms of attractiveness. So I honestly can't understand what men are saying either because I haven't seen women do this, other than very shallow women who I wouldn't date if I was a man either.

Of course we care. You are half the worlds population. It does matter. I am so sorry to hear what you have been through, its really hard to deal with S/A in general for anyone, but especially for men. I am also sorry about that, it is awful how cruel the world can be to some. There are certainly people out there that could relate to you, and maybe that would be a good starting point in finding someone who can take it slow with you like you need. Women collectively can never be “low quality” compared to men collectively, because eggs are expensive and sperm is cheap. The sooner you accept this the more it all makes sense. Damn never heard of this before. Although I do also agree with, "it is just comically pathetic how much of a low quality modern women are". I think women would be HAPPIER if they were more healthly and this would make everything better. There is still competition in other countries, the West has kinda evened out but in …

Yeah that's a good point too, as people say third spaces and such are dying out and folks don't hang around and lounge as they used to, just to shoot the shit with each other. I wonder if people will make a push for more social settings and how that will look going forward, like a resurgence in physical media and libraries for instance.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 11:46 PM
5

Fair question, but let me ask you this: do you realize that the way you talked about men here is already rare amongst women? Do you see that? No, I honestly am trying my hardest to understand them. I don't think people need to hate each other or be at gender war with each other, so finding a 'bridge' between the two has been my main mission (as silly as that sounds). At least in America, it's an interesting topic. I think a lot of it is tension between the two as gender roles crumble and people …

I do think anyone can be love-shy, but for women the stakes are lower, people regard their awkwardness with more sympathy and acceptance than with men (generalizing).
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 11:39 PM
7

Thank you for your genuine response and for sharing your own story. I think maybe a solution would be to have more figures of wisdom like this to comfort and inspire love-shy people that there is a way out of the fog. I knew as a youngster I was also very convinced I could not be loved, even as a woman who had guys who would take me (online at least lol), it didn't feel at all like they actually loved me or could even love me, so it always felt empty and lonely. I think that self-awareness and j…

Alright I'll take a stab at it, what exactly do you think that final step is? What do you think women are missing from the picture? Ive also tried to look at this problem through myself, as you can read in the post, but I think simply no one will ever truly understand another person other than themselves. As no man will ever perfectly understand a woman. Im not sure how close you can get though.
/r/PurplePillDebate18/02/25 07:06 PM

I think it's both. People should be more aware of other social issues affecting others, and people should also advocate for themselves and try to seek out help and making progress with said issues.

While I do think material worship is certainly a component, added with the social conditioning aspect, in women overvaluing material items and what they get out of relationships, your gross over estimating of how much this impacts everyday relationships people have is just as out of touch. I do not think the problem is as wide spread as you are saying it is, at least not in real life out and about in everyday life. You should avoid those people, they're out of balance / touch people, and this is…

I never said anything about that. I said if I was sexist / mean to men, I'd hope I'd be called out for it because coming from that angle will never resolve anything. Same for men.

Nah, the maturity journey is not my idea or anything. You can read about what a western "real man" is in a variety of psychological / philosophical perspectives that draw upon historic human experience. Same with women. It's a humans natural progression, and it's sad people alienate or mystify that so much nowadays. Like, "coming of age", and how that is a movie trope, same with maturity in people.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/25 11:21 PM
1

That is an interesting point you bring up about saying masculine and feminine instead of "real man", or similar expressions. It seems a lot of unnecessary emotional turmoil could be avoided if people instead expressed their concerns/feelings through the use of archetypes, dialectic reasoning, more polite and accurate language, etc instead of personally attacking people, but I suppose it shows you how close these issues hit folks.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/25 07:57 PM
2

Oh, and to respond to the first part, I got too wrapped up in the second lol: Choosing to be kind instead of sinking down to the immaturity of others I would say is the mature part. Or not engaging, that is also mature.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/25 07:14 PM
1

The woman's tool of emasculation is not actually used by a woman at all; only a girl. I'd say a woman attacking the ego like that of a man is not mature and should probably realize that by doing so, nothing is solved, and only made worse. Problems like these are employed in different ways by every party, and it's good to call out. I hope you realize I was not attacking you (or men) like that.

Just an excuse to plan a nice date and have a sweet time with a loved one. Don't submit to the materialism propaganda about the day or the doomer-ism that persists in modern dating. Holidays were used before to boost a population's mood or celebrate something. I like to see the holiday as that: a personal pass to do something frivolous and maybe romantic to boost the mood and celebrate love. Idk, just my two cents.

What separates boys from men (which is more simply immature from mature) is no longer thinking you need to kiss anyone's ass. You are kind, which is different, to people because that is trying your best to connect from your side. It's not kissing ass, but being a good person despite everything anyway. Im sure you would find it ridiculous if men were suggesting you were less of a woman because you aren't nice enough to men If I was mean to men from a sexist point 'just because', I would hope peop…

You can still be seen as and be someone who's enticing, passionate, and fun. You don't have to look like a 10/10. I'm not very attractive either, which is where the path of focusing on your own self, elevating the good, and trying to manage the bad comes in. Self hatred will just lead you wrong and get you nothing. Being honest with yourself is not the same as hating yourself. (I know that's really hard though, I also struggle with it). But look around you, seeing 10/10s is pretty rare other tha…

I'm sorry to butt in but it reads like you're projecting your own insecurities/fears and complex about the matter. If someone likes you, they like you. You should try and find people on your same level you can connect with and build a relationship with, you will never be able to blanket statement an entire gender, they are all individuals at the end of the day. If they like you, they accept you, and if you're insecure about lacking something it doesn't mean everyone else is judging you for it. P…

Quite a bit, at first. I asked myself this too, the easiest way to see the effect was his name. I'd look at him but my brain would say his username before his real name, which took some getting used to. But I admit, I'm not a great-looking lady, and we are both rather strange in our own ways, so I think we make a good couple. Being friends first was also nice, you get to know someone without any weird pressure.
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/25 09:13 PM

I honestly agree. It was strange with my boyfriend since we were online friends and I never really saw his face, but after we met face to face, we clicked immediately. We waited too, and it was good. I have a question now, what would be the advice to women? What do men show, besides the physical, that truly shows they love and take you seriously?
/r/PurplePillDebate05/02/25 06:23 PM

Honestly, I can definitely agree with you too. I think my post was mainly aimed at the more polarized and up-in-arms types but I didn't realize there were a lot more calm and rational discussion under that, which is honestly very refreshing. I hope men and women can see eye to eye and meet in the middle, that would be the best outcome possible.

My mother wanted a pren-up with my father. He refused to marry her unless she went back on it. His reasoning was that marriage needs to have that 'jump of faith' with the other. A pren-up means you don't trust them. My opinion is I'd be fine with it mutually.

I feel like I can give Cognitive empathy to almost anything, but thinly in some areas. The Affective empathy is like a trust thing, idk how to explain it. I don't trust strangers, but I will try to understand them. If I really try to find 1:1, I can feel both. What do you think of this? But if you want to stop here, thank you!!

I myself am a woman and I do not relate to these women you are describing. But I will believe you and encourage you to not engage with people who do not wish good for you or are using your plight as an ego boost.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 04:59 PM
4

Yeah that too. I didn't realize that until making this post, but some people see no problem in not giving a shit and/or lashing out, even though that is not productive or helpful.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 04:58 PM
3

Honestly yeah, once you see how a lot of negativity people express is not even due to the external, but their internal struggle, your hatred or anger melts.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 04:55 PM
2

Uh, women couldn't even vote until a 'few' generations ago. I feel it's pretty fair to raise a hoot over that. I'm not saying it's the same, it's different. But playing the suffering Olympics will do nothing but alienate the two sides further. As will ignoring the fact that people are responsible for themselves and their actions.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 04:47 PM
2

Then don't engage. That is the only response that will hold your own integrity solid, not have you go to their level, and also not give them the attention or whatever they're seeking.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 04:42 PM
2

You are projecting, people's problems should be held with respect because that's being decent. But sometimes you can't help, or the help they want is something you aren't willing or able to offer. Sometimes they don't want help and are being entitled or lashing out. That is a hard truth. You will be the most helpful person to yourself, in a majority of cases. I am looking to try and build a good foundation between men and women because working together is a lot more productive than against each …

I'm not sure, I'm not them. You should ask them that. There are dubious characters on either side, in every group, etc. Bias, perceptions, prejudices, complexes are present with everyone. I suppose some people wear theirs more openly on their sleeve. You can simply not engage, and focus on your own impact and character, and that'll do more than worrying about someone else's problems ever could. Choosing to be sympathetic/empathetic/compassionate and treating people with human decency should be a…

Yeah, there are pretty horrible characters on both sides. Obviously, that's awful. I think the polarization has lent itself to create monsters of people towards the opposite sex or people they perceive as "not one of them" or having privilege/authority/whatever you wanna sub in and they justify their actions through that, but it's NOT justified.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 04:11 PM

Yeah I agree. Those are shitty people. They should leave. But that isn't everyone.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 04:00 PM

True thank you
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:49 PM
2

I agree with you. I think you can understand and not empathize. My point was mainly about how not understanding and not trying to impacts the ability to empathize because folks are too in their own head to see the other person's perspective or even believe their pain is valid. But this is just me thinking out loud too lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:47 PM
4

Why do you automatically assume they are pretending? Can't someone care and hope you do well, even without offering help? Realistically, what could they do for you to fix your problems that still respects their own boundaries, commitments, values, and wishes? Do you think only a girlfriend would help?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:44 PM
3

I think you can feel empathy without perfectly understanding, as in, not having lived that exact experience, but you try and build the same sense of the feeling with your own experience. Sometimes, it does match 1:1. I googled the difference just now, compassion has the element of wanting to help. I'm not inclined to always help, because sometimes it's not possible or I don't have the capacity / they don't want it. Maybe I am confusing them? I am not sure now lol.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:37 PM
5

I feel they do want to make them feel better if they feel empathy, but some other posters here have pointed out that the men expect sex or romance. If you aren't interested, you aren't interested. Friendship and company can be offered, as well as advice or a lending an ear. But asking for more from someone just based on the idea that you feel bad isn't a good foundation and honestly seems manipulative, for anyone, male or female. What do you think about this?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:31 PM
2

In my opinion, when it crosses from seeking common ground to expecting more, that is entitlement and is no longer healthy or productive.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:27 PM
2

I think I said in another reply that healthy personal responsibility plays a huge role, but we don't see that much nowadays (at least in America). People feel entitled, when they aren't. There's a clear line between being respectful and seeking common ground vs having someone try to leverage your respect and empathy to get something more. I tried to address that at the bottom, but I should've been more clear. I agree with you 100%.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:25 PM
2

I do not think you should let someone's perception of you and opinion destroy your life. As I also think that a person should be polite and respectful when rejecting someone. It would be cruel to say, "I will never like you because of your dick", but also, you shouldn't let some asshole ruin your life. It's a two sided coin, and having self preservation and respect is also paramount.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:22 PM
3

Could you give me an example of what you mean by not acknowledging someone's emotional state as a valid reason to make a bad decision?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:18 PM
3

Yes I agree somewhat, taking healthy personal responsibility and understanding your position and being grateful is important and lacking in today's dating market. I hope men hold women more accountable, and I hope women do the same. It's for the best for both of the genders, after all.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:15 PM
2

They are not going to get stable sex or romantic attention if there is such a wide emotional and cultural / social gap between men and women. There has to be common ground and mutual respect otherwise expecting things from someone is just entitlement.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 03:11 PM
2

Aw man my reply didn't post. Well, I think we are both saying the same thing but perhaps I am not wording it well. First, I do feel the empathy. I do not think you need to perfectly understand something in order to feel empathy. But I did get a little chuckle from you saying I failed my goal, it was so bluntly put, it was a little humorous lol. Going along with your example, someone can still feel empathy without having been through the same exact situation 1:1, they don't need to perfectly unde…

It's a lot easier to empathize with someone irl because of more inputs (facial expressions, context, speaking, etc). I also do not think irl is as dramatic as online and your population is much more spread even (count how many 'incels' you've seen irl vs online, I'm sure online is much more).
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 01:35 PM
2

Exactly! Thank you so much for this addition. I'd like to add a personal example of those differing dynamics: when men would be creepy towards me in social settings, and we would share friend groups, I'd speak up and the guys around me would always say, "Wow, I never saw that side of him" even though they knew each other for years! I am sure this stuff happens with men about women too, we simply see different 'sides' of the other gender, and this influences our perceptions to ourselves, and thos…

I'll have to take a look then. I like to try and think of my own conclusions before delving into others, but I think I am at that point now. What work of his would be a good starting point?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 01:28 PM
5

"I think acknowledging all these can be part of people's problems would be a great start. " I agree! I also think giving people their personal responsibility back in a healthy way would enable folks to move away from the victim mindset to being more open to positive feedback and change. Sometimes stuff isn't your fault, like if the culture or society is holding you down, but you should still try and drive your own life to be better (healthy personal responsibility).
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/25 01:27 PM
5

Hm, I don't think it's possible for me to understand perfectly 1:1, I will only ever understand using the experience I have as my tools to try and relate. I can use times I have been rejected, or ignored, or wasn't wanted, etc to bridge the gap with a man or woman or anyone who is expressing that to me, so we can be on the same page. But will I ever truly understand them 1:1? Maybe not, I think the more important part is trying to relate and reaching common ground. Although, what do you mean by …

I think there is an obvious line between ridiculous arguments and blame-shifting and other such things (from both sides) v.s. simply trying to reach an understanding of each other. You don't have to sympathize with someone to respect their feelings and can still hold them responsible for their handling of those feelings.

What exactly are you looking for in a woman? Like describe your idea of "not settling" and what that would look like from both of you / feel like. If you don't mind indulging me
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 05:22 AM
4

Why would you ever date anyone then? I'm a woman and I would never want someone to just settle for me, and I'd be willing to accept flaws if it means we love each other. That is incredibly sad and seems almost disgusting/disrespectful.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 05:15 AM

Damn not to be painfully insecure here, but aren't men then just settling too? If they give up trying to get the upper echelon of women and deal with flaws, isn't that settling?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/01/25 05:09 AM

You know I read things like this and have never related to it. Sometimes I feel men don't understand what we women see as flaws, and sometimes assume we were being too judgmental when the person we judged was a bad person, not overtly, but personality wise or temperament. I've had guys I rejected become very frustrated with me and blame me, saying I never give nice guys a chance, when I rejected them because they would be horrible partners. Ermm, just adding, I think some people are embarrassed and too insecure to get the courage to ask their partner, but I suppose that would be just a transition from A (#1) to B (#2). Damn, I hope I labeled those right lol.
