From the sounds of it, These feel more like intrusive thoughts more than anything. And the red pill does this to you by design, so don't beat yourself up for having these thoughts. A lot of those influencers are trying to antagonize your insecurities to keep you engaged and hooked to consuming their media rather than do anything to sincerely help you out and I think it's good to recognize that. I always felt like the 6ft thing was an especially awful and manipulative because while it's true some…

Pulling someone you care about out of a dark ideology is extremely hard and will require a LOT of patience and understanding. Although this link is catered more specifically to family members caught up in Trump/QAnon shit, here is a good resource about this sort of thing and I think it may apply to your brother and the redpill. I don't know your brother but the manosphere for me specifically felt like it understood my insecurities with women while trying to lead me to a "healthier" and more succ…

I often hear the whole "oh, men shouldn't cry or show vulnerability" talking point from a lot of people when they talk about the red-pill from the outside, but I have honestly always found the narrative obnoxious. It's obnoxious because I feel it relates to very specific types of vulnerabilities but never addresses the specific kinds of vulnerability that attracts men to the redpill. I say this because your example of crying when a family member passes away has always seemed like a perfectly acc…

I'm glad you found it helpful! I think learning how to cook and do laundry is a great place to start. Learning new skills is a fantastic way to build confidence! Especially cooking! You'd be surprised how many adult men don't know how to do that.

I feel the red-pill pushes this expectation for what an ideal man SHOULD be. Dating a Brazilian super model sounds like some sort of expectation he put on himself, anything less than he would be "settling". It's obnoxiously ironic because a lot of rage bait that red/black pill influencers use to get men to get hooked on that sort of garbage is to show some dumb tart on a social media site talk about impossible standards that she's set for men (such as being over 6 feet and owning a boat or some …

I agree with the other commenters that you ought to try and get away from your awful family. If you're old enough, try and get a job and move out. But I also think it's important not to put so much thought into what those attractive ladies think of you and try and build up your self-esteem and self-confidence. Here's a good article that talks more in depth about what I'm talking about. https://psychcentral.com/blog/mental-shifts-to-stop-caring-what-people-think-of-you I think it's important to w…

When I was in Jr. High/high school, the men who used to bully, ridicule and beat me up were EXTREMELY successful with women. So it was extremely easy to assume that women associated cruelty with attractiveness, even though not one would be willing to admit it. My time in the manosphere never actually taught me dark triad behavior is attractive, what it did was validate a belief I already had and aggressively aggravated the insecurities associated with it.

Concerning a long term partner/husband/wife Women are generally attracted to status, wealth.... I think this statement is pretty odd. Do you think women who value status and wealth above all else are sincerely looking for a long term partner/husband and a stable relationship? I'm not gonna act like there aren't women out there who are specifically looking for a sugar daddy with a boat but I'm sure those women are specifically attracted to the money and status, they aren't attracted to the man hi…

the majority of men want X, while the majority of women want Y, and your better off doing what has the best chance for success. Which is catering to the majority. I understand what you're trying to say, but at the same time, that's also very vague. When you say a majority of women want Y, what exactly is Y?

I think the Red Pill garbage you are being exposed to is being used as "rage fuel" for you. That exact "rage fuel" sensation is something that's ironically pretty common for men who end up falling down the incel/blackpill rabbit-hole, as men will go on Tik-Tok, Twitter or something and find all of these videos of women with a bitchy attitude listing all of these (sometimes impossible) standards of men while acting they're such hot shit. I can watch them right now and just roll my eyes at it and …

I think the reason they wouldn't is because of shame! I think this is something that's applied to everyone, not just men or even just men with dating problems. And what I'm talking about is the fact that if you talk openly about what your ideal man/woman is, everyone outside of a porno shop is going to act hostile or ridicule you. Not only would a man who is struggling with dating get ridiculed for stating his ideal woman because he would be objectifying women and "beggars can't be choosers", in…

I'm sincerely sorry you've gotten caught up in the blackpill mentality. I can argue and try to statistically disprove all of it all day, it's not an ideology built on logic but one on insecurity and emotion, which it's not an easy one to escape from because even if I do logically disprove it, you'll still feel insecure and you'll still find comfort in blackpill thinking. I guess I'm not really going to directly answer your question, because I don't really like the "entitlement" argument as a res…

I'm sincerely sorry for what you went through. Please forgive me if anything I wrote may have upset you, it was never my intention to delegitimize the real trauma that victims face. Is a very scary thing to deal with for both parties, but talking about it is essential to getting a factually accurate narrative out that can help us both learn things that can save us from these kinds of thing I agree, that's exactly why I felt the need to comment. I am deathly against bringing up what sexual assault victims go through when addressing men's association with the red pill, PUA or incel communities. ESPECIALLY if those red-pilled men are outspoken about their fear of false rape accusations. The huge reason I am deathly against it is because back when I was super red-pilled, I always took it like people were using rape and sexual assault victims as a cheap tactic used to outright dismiss my own feelings and concerns and in turn, it made me ext…

Have you considered meditation? It trains you to treat intrusive thoughts as just mere, disposable useless thoughts and teaches you to gently let them go once you notice they appear in your head. I think it's a practical approach to dealing with your problem!

There's nothing wrong with logic in the paragraph that you highlighted on it's own merit. There are other problems with the red pill that the OP pointed out (specifically the power tactics it was promoting) but there's nothing problematic about setting boundaries and expecting to be treated with respect from your partner or potential partner.

The message in that response you got was not meant for you and has no intention of actually defending any problems with it. His response was 100% meant for the red-pill's intended audience. That's definitely the vibe I got reading it. "And you are correct when you point out there are a lot of angry bitter guys, but thing people need to remember is that that's okay. This this part 1 of a long series done by the Psychology in Seattle podcast where host Dr. Kirk Honda reacts to a video by this infamous blowhard. Often a lot of the reactions to these red pill gurus are to very accurately but very specifically call out the misogyny aspect of the red pill, which he mentions but doesn't hyper-focus on it because he knows his audience realizes why the misogyny is wrong and instead goes into the not so obvious insecurity and possibly trauma that drives men to ideol…

For the most part, I think you have come to a great conclusion. Setting barriers and looking for red flags and not tolerating those red flags is a great mindset to have. Even though I totally agree with your main message, I have one nitpick to drone on about! If you are a decent person, women will show attention. But not only GOOD women will give you attention. And if you don't realize that, and are too focused on not being alone and finding a relationship, you will run into bad women over and o…

I think your correct in pointing out that codependents are a common demographic that is exploited by red-pillers. Knowing this, I think we need to collectively come up with a much better and thought out response to the red pill narratives that appeal to these men than just say "go to therapy" and be done with it. Not everyone has the means to seek therapy and from the perspective of someone looking for help, it can come across as very dismissive. These codependent men are seeking validation of t…

I'd say you should stick around and see what happens, but I would stop putting any emotional investment in the relationship. Ex-boyfriend baggage is a red flag for me, but it's not a complete deal breaker depending on context. Though, it would have to be something that I would have to address before agree to a relationship, but that's just me.

Sorry for rambling, everything is just so confusing these days oh, no worries. No need to apologize! I can completely empathize to be honest with you. Yeah I won't be joining the MGTOW community. I just find the idea appealing. I realize we sound like a broken record repeating the reasons why they're bad, but it's still important and you don't want to respond to your feelings with ruminating anger about feminists! I get the gut feeling reading this post you still have some emotional baggage from your previous relationship with the narcissistic woman and are still trying to come to terms with it. You might say the emotional damage was minimal but judging solely by your post, I think it's why you have such a pessimistic view of dating and women in general and why MGTOW/Redpill ideas are starting to look appealing. Intelligence has little to zero to do with how attractive you are. I'll be honest, it kinda makes me roll my eyes when I hear anyone (regardless of gender) say they find intelligence sexy. The reason is "intelligence" in regards to dating is so vague and poorly defined. I'm pretty sure a lot of the same women who claim to like intelligence in a man aren't going to find a socially inept autistic man attractive even if he is proficient in advanced mathematics or sciences! Sure, if an already attra…

I can empathize. It's extremely awful how much the whole Beta/Alpha thing can really resonate hard when you feel like you're the "beta". I think if you want a good first step, it's to abandon the whole alpha/beta rhetoric that the red-pill promotes and use the term psychologists and therapists would likely use instead, such as "low self-esteem" or "inferiority complex" rather than "beta mentality" or whatever. The reason you should start using these terms instead is because when you go searching…

One could probably nitpick at specific details in relation to their own stories, but I think this is pretty accurate and I'm glad there's more people like you hitting the nail on the head like this. I feel like 99.99% of the response to the red pill is trying to pick apart their often empty and very stupid rhetoric. It most certainly does cause a complete loss of self-esteem and a loss of self-confidence. Blackpill bullshit exaggerates these feelings of inferiority and often keeps men in that headspace. To make things worse, a mass majority of advice these men get is either patronizing or just outright dismissive, which makes the problem a lot worse. This is beautiful and idealistic but it doesn't work. This is defeatist rhetoric that actively encourages folks to be docile towards the red-pill. I'm trying to be pro-active in ending it, not lie submissively to it and continue to allow it's spread. The reason I am trying to be pro-active in ending is because I was red-pilled and I know what goes through their heads when they dive down that ideological sewer and what the effects are. Men are often told “you shouldn’t want more sex, it’s not that great, trust me” but they find that answer insufficient, and go looking for some advice that’s less casually dismissive of their drives. When I think about combating the red-pill, my mind automatically jumps to an opt-ed that was written in the LA Times a few years ago about Jordan Peterson that I constantly think about. That doesn't sound like shit-testing, that sounds like straight up emotional abuse. What's really fucked up is there isn't a lot of resources for men about this and more often than not, the red pill fills this void. I would suggest seeking a therapist if that is accessible. I appreciate you sharing this, there's a billion posts and videos and shit that (correctly) talk about why the redpill is terrible, but there is almost nothing out there that shows any sincere or good dating/relationship advice for men, a void that the red-pill more often than not, fills up. I've read the comments, I think you should be extremely proud of yourself for being a caregiver and taking care of your sibling. I think that's very noble of you. I challenge you to say something genuinely nice and positive about yourself! Even if it's something small or trivial, just say something nice about yourself. As someone who has crawled out of that ideological sewer, I'd say the reason I was obsessed with "leadership" in a relationship is because I was a complete push-over who was constantly getting rejected and it felt like the only women who WOULD associate with me were just trying to take advantage of me in one way or another. I'd go as far as to say the only real difference between most red pillers and incels is just how confident they are in themselves or how loudly they pretend to be confident in themselves. For me, those PUA tactics were equally as effective at attracting women with low self esteem as they were with attracting any other woman. And by that, I mean they didn't work at all. When I hear about people who say red pill tactics work on women with low self-esteem, especially looking back in hindsight from not only my time in the manosphere but also my time leaving it, I find it really hard to comprehend exactly how even THAT would work.

I agree with some of the other comments here, your friend needs help and support from his friends, not ridicule. You can downplay it and call it a "mini-depression", but a very large chunk of what keeps red-pill pushers in business are men going through "mini-depressions" and looking for solace. Also, I'm not qualified to be a therapist, I'm sharing my own experiences so take what I say with a grain of salt! I think you need to learn to accept that you cannot change the past and you need to learn to grow and focus on your future rather than wish you'd never done things in your past.
