I think what they meant was focus on yourself in go into a "nun" mode of sorts. Remind yourself of your strength, independence, and value that you bring to a relationship. Then when you're ready you can jump back into courting with confidence.

I totally feel you. This post felt really similar to my situation and reasoning for getting off birth control. Your mind is such a powerful tool. What really resonated with me is reading The Surrendered Wife (by Laura Doyle) and Fascinating Womanhood (search the subreddit for a PDF version). My biggest take away from The Surrendered Wife was: SELF CARE! Do 3 things a day that you like to do, just because you like to. Read a easy beach read, take a bath, paint, whatever makes you happy! By bigges…

I found both books to be really similar in their concepts. If you own them, I might recommend reading The Surrendered Wife first and The Empowered Wife a few months later just as a refresher. Great ideas, but I binged them back to back and found the second to be a repeat.

I got a lot of great advice from Fascinating Womanhood too. I read The Surrendered Wife first and I'm glad I did because it eased me into the ideas because I'm a new RPW. The Surrendered Wife was a little more modern in it's ideals for a monogamous woman and I found Fascinating Womanhood to be a little harder to swallow (mostly the parts about not working outside the home & NO PANTS?!?). Tights have become a lifesaver in cold, snowy CO. XD For me, the tips I learned in The Surrendered Wife made …

I find a lot of long skirts at thrift stores but making a hem is easier than starting from scratch. So make sure you like the fabric and fit along your waist, but I usually compromise on the length.

I want to be someone people are happy to be around, and not someone who needs other people to cheer them up. I find that confidence and happiness go hand in hand for me. How does your self care look? I know I let mine go when I was struggling with depression and low self esteem. What worked for me was doing 3 self care things a day that made me feel good (based on the "Surrendered Wife's" tip). Once you are in control of making yourself happy, it's a beautiful thing. You are already taking great…

I remember 20 years ago seeing older put together women and thinking “that’s what I want to be when I grow up!” That's me! If I saw you out and about I'd be inspired! :) #rolemodels

I was out of town when I texted some of "the speech" paraphrased to fit our situation. I could tell he was touched. I'm trying to get brave enough to say some or part of it in person (hopefully) soon. I think the right circumstance could make it work really well, but def don't say it if you don't want to or can't.
