You need to be more specific about which facts i haven't gotten straight in regards to traditional martial arts. Boxing is definitely effective, because you learn to take a punch, but it has nothing to say about escaping a headlock or disarming a knife. People need simple effect techniques, so they can be effect in 2 or 3 years, not spend 10 to 15 learning a sword or lifeless katas to defend against attacks from 100s of years ago.
