People thought he actually guessed it, but he cheated by swapping the paper out that they gave him and reading it. Most people didn't think he swapped papers because he said "take it back I don't want to touch it" during\immediately after making the swap. 1	Neil Strauss demonstrating social reactions are never as clear as you think I think /u/ph08n1x meant that using old canned openers from the pickup community is a bad idea because lots of people have heard them already. It goes against his own TLDR point - with the right attitude and a little knowledge of human nature, you can convince people to do almost anything.
