Well said. I have noticed this a lot, one example that really sticks out to me is in supermarkets. If someone is in your way and you say "excuse me", they always say "sorry" (in my area). Not only that, but sometimes as you walk past someone they instinctively say "sorry" because they thought they might be in your way. Yesterday a lady came around a corner relatively quickly with her trolley, it didnt block my path or inconvenience me or anyone else in any way, and she apologised. This list you'…

From the perspective of man interested in Orthodoxy I can say there are many Orthodox YouTube channels and if your partner is interested in history and Logic, or in popular culture, it would be worth him looking at people like Jay Dyer, The Church of the Eternal Logos or Jonathan Pageau. If he wants to seek spiritual guidance I recommend Fr Spyridon Bailey or Patristic Nectar Films, run by Fr Josiah Trenham. If he likes watching youtube as a form of entertainment or listening to podcasts on his …

Her coming from an ultraconservative family, then you liberalising her by promoting her vanity and pride with IG stuff is what it sounds like to me. Had you been a conservative christian man I think you could have kept her as a wife and had a family, but by taking her out of that into a hedonistic lifestyle made her a hedonidt willing to swing branches. If you want a conservative christian girl in the future it mightnhe best for you to be a conservative christian too. If you don't want to be one…

Oh wow so you're a Christian too, thats interesting. I've been delving into the theology a lot and finding the right church but maybe taking time from that and focusing on actual personal issues would be better. For the past couple months for me "personal issues" has included all of that theology and history looking foe the legitimate church and whatnot, but I guess personal issues really should be things like confidence, lifting etc. Thanks for the input man.

I'm glad to see somebody else can relate! So it sounds like you think it is a good thing for me to have this on my mind because that will allow me to look inside myself to discern the truth of MY VALUES, which can then be applied. Do you have any advice on HOW I can go about doing that? Is it just a matter of time?

Sorry to hear you feel lonely, but if I (male) met someone like you in the UK I'd immediately take note that you aren't into all that social stuff and take a lot more interest. My last ltr was and it caused us a lot of arguements, and I've decided to definitely never date someone like that again despite her being a nice girl otherwise. Best of luck for the future!

So from the philosophies you study, you can draw a steady and foundational, solid worldview which you can apply? When you dont have one, I am in that situation at the moment, well it is difficult to know what you want and why, and that makes decisiveness and having strong values more difficult

There's too many criticisms I can bring against what you said and I'm not intending to debate. Put briefly just because lots of people claim they have the truth doesn't mean thay are all wrong. It is absolutely possible most of them are wrong on at least one thing, but that one is correct. Anyway I I'll leave it there, I appreciate your responses, thanks.

My biggest weakmess is I need to be more assertive and less afraid of being disliked and of confrontation. I believe that NMMNG covers this so I should really get and read that.

Ok I'm not too familiar with Tao, though one book I read remember being very critical. I'd have to go back and see what criticisms were brought up again and learn about Taoism. Thanks.

Perhaps, that point about times and places is something that's been on my mind. I need to choose my path I know, just these are 2 totally different paths with their own struggles and issues, and that makes it a very difficult thing to sort. Maybe I shouldn't worry and take each day as it comes, I'm prone to this abstract longterm thinking though. "Sufficient for the day is it's own trouble". Thanks.

There's a lot I could say but I'll keep it brief. If it's the truth, why wouldn't you live that way? This something I guess I'll have to resolve myself; is it true or not?

I see the benefits of pragmatism and utilitarianism to an extent, but once you take the blinders off and see there is some objective truth (even if you cant define it) it is hard to put them back on again. If you're right, I could be asking in the wrong place, but I felt it worth a shot.

I think you're misunderstanding, I'm not at risk of falling into mother earth hippy bollocks that excuses everything I do. If you want specifics it is Orthodox Christianity that I am drawn to, which taken seriously involves a hell of a lot of self discipline.

Even after stopping these fetishes have stuck with you? And were they fetishes you indulged in when watching pornography? No need to be graphic but fron what I've read I thought most people who stop watching porn get over their weird fetishes, maybe you would still have some kinks in which case it's a natural one (not porn induced) and probably not that extreme (like necro or some shit, maybe just a fetish for say handcuffs or stockings or something like that).

I want kids because we are commanded to be fruitful and multiply over the face of the Earth. Having children is the most beautiful experience a human can go through, it's not just a physical thing, it's spiritual for me too and sounds like this guy had a spiritual view of it too.

It's been like 3 weeks but no we haven't been in contact and I dont plan on it, good on you for declining. The only dofference was my girl finished with me, but after she told me how she had been feeling that was the only real option, I'll admit I was upset about it but like I say I can look back and see that it was best and I have little to miss. That's what it was with me too, my girl said even she didn't know what was missing, so I just had to accept that I wouldn't know either. A few weeks out I realise it was a blessing, some people just aren't completely compatible and it sucks if you don't get complete closure on what went wrong, but I think you'll just have to take it on the chin and remember she is the one losing out by the new arrangement. I hope you can get over it soon and get back out there.

Similar experience with my ltr of 1, she told me out of the blue she wanted to split, though her reasoning (or lack thereof) was very similar. I haven't tried to rationalise it and haven't made any contact since. Time apart for long periods (my girl was at uni) can be bad, and seeing as I'll be moving away even firther in a few months that could have been on her mind. If its a good breakup just be glad it didn't end worse and move on, doesn't sound like you did anything to put her off.

I got asked when I was like 17 before a date and was honest, but being a normal height there was no issue, still a dumb move on my part, I should definitely have said 6'12". I would exaggerate and say something dumb, then when asked in person like another said, your 5'8.

1000 escorts by 40? Dude you need to go and have a talk with yourself if that is your priority. What a sad waste of a life that would be. Find some meaning in your life and dont be a coomer, thats no better than having watched 1000 different porn actresses, in fact its probably even more humiliating and shameful because you paid them.

Sorry to hear that man that's heartbreaking. Take your time to grieve and perhaps seeking forgiveness to whoever you would, be it family or God, may help free you from the guilt. You don't need a stiff upper lip in this situation, I wouldn't recommend crying to plates or girls you know, but to female family like you mum and sister it would be beneifical if you open up to them about it, and talk to your friends and other family about it when you feel the need. Yeah my girl is on dofferent contraceptions, I dont like them personally condoms work and they fuck your body up, that could definitely be an element to it. Her on top has been good though I always find stroking difficult from that angle. As for her legs on my shoulders, she loves it but I find it really uncomfortable, maybe if I stand and lie her down it would work better, and if we just stick with it consistent in time and duration it would work though. As for doggy I think she finds it uncomfortable. Generally I would say we try several positions in a session and it could be to the detriment of her pleasure, so I will bear this in mind next time.…

Yeah the first girl I was with, major slut and she climaxed with me, a complete virgin, current gf we have great sex but just getting her over the finish line has been a struggle, and our sex initially was not so good, so fots with what you were saying. Alright thanks for that, I have heard that there's a real variety amongst women, whereas us guys can often manage to bust with the shittest effort from a girl, if we try. Only recently did she have her first full orgasm, using a technique I've heard of before for women, a shower head of all things. Now the first one is out the way, and she says she can do it regularly with a shower head, I guess it'll just take some time and patience to work it out, or to fail to work it out, which as you say ei…

I'll give an example. Say a man, Will, has a nose that is curved 2 mm to the left. When he looks in the mirror he sees this reflected, and will therefore see himself with a 2mm curve to the right. It's the opposite way because of the mirroring effect, when your raise your right hand in a mirror it looks like you've raised your left hand, it's a reversal. So, Will looks at himself every day IN A MIRROR and sees a 2mm curve to the right, while everyone else sees him as he is, and so sees the real …

There is the marxist theory that activists use, and the power theories their leaders use. One is a means of achiebing the other, and the activists are just thenuseful idiots of their elites. When Trotsky left the USSR he was put up in a 5 star New York hotel, there was Wall Street money behind the Bolsheviks. Some say though that they didn't own Stalin, hence once the party took power, he stepped into the leading role of the party and purged dissidents.

Im in full agreement, a man must be healthy and emotional repression is absolutely unhealthy, but to explin why some of these guys kught have turned their women off I was looking for a way of explaining it, they have learned to oppose ot even if they say, and might think that they want, a man to express himself. In my own experience Ive never actualy had this, I have broken down a few times in front of my ltr and she has in front of me, in private of course, and it has probably just made us clos…

Good point well made, however ancient and medieval societies often had more emotional tolerance than we do today. In the past few centuries a man crying has been seen as bad, in the middle ages, at some points amongst nobles in certain places like france, a man could cry at a poem or a song, and was seen as a goodan for it. Just thought I should add that bit of context, but I still agree that we are humans not robots abd emotion is an important thing.

Depending in her age and maturity level, she might have been scared off thinking she wouldn't be able to deal with someone dealing with the shit you're going through. Some women never grow up, and aren't able to have a mature conversation, or provide actual support. I'm sure she has told her friends to open up in the past when they were down, and it would turn out they're dealing with a boy who might not like them or feeling self conscious about their hip dips or whatever, not something serious …

Like I said in the post, developing wittiness naturally is important, but in threads about it having some regular comebacks on hand for common insults is important, so I think sharing them here will be beneficial.

It's one thing to not get involved, when you're arent getting insulted, but if someone throws shade and you have nothing to say (even if that's out of choice) it comes off badly. Anyway, many people, guys in particular, do this as a little test, and arent looking to get confrontational. Having something snappy back is good. Yours appeals to my ironic side but I wonder if it could fall a bit flat in front of a group, thanks though.

Cut the porn. Simple as. A couple of weeks of no porn and minimal masturbation and you'll be getting hard fine. It's good your girl is patient, but don't go testing her. Seriously though, no porn.

Hm that's tough. My area is not particularly "diverse" so I can understand I dont have the experience, and I guess if a minority picked on me I wouldn't get much social benefit from comebacks on the same level, and would be in far more trouble. I have heard things are bad for Asians too, in universities and so. In that case I'd advise comebacks that aren't racial, or just ignore and step over it. Have you had experience in that?
/r/askTRP13/10/20 08:41 PM
2

You can be racist to anyone and it doesn't take much wit to mock a stereotype characature of somebody, I wouldn't do it to people initially but if they started it to me I'd say they are fair game.
/r/askTRP13/10/20 08:25 PM

Give it him back. He's Asian you've got no shortage of material, and if the group is mostly white they'll find that just as funny, seeing you give him some of his own shit.

Sorry for your loss man, I wish you and your family all the best, and may your mother rest in peace. My advice is don't bottle it up, and don't dull the pain with drugs, alcohol, porn, or whatever else that will become a sick dependency and do you nothing but damage. Spend time with your loved ones, take quiet time when you need to but don't become isolated. Going for walks might be a good idea if you can get into nature for an hour or two. Be strong when you need to, and let yourself grieve whe…

I see. My first job was with a place my bro used to work at and my dad knew the boss, as a shop assistant, the second was as a waiter where we knew the owners, and now I'm at a supermarket which I applied for in the way everyone else does. On each of the 3 occasions I was looking for a job I applied to 5-10 places, just walked round town and dropped off CVs at cafes, shops and so on, or applied online to the bigger companies. Best of luck.

Best off stop reading and act, and keep acting, and dont read. I read trp for a while, then went out there with basic principles in mind, and now I'm in a relationship of half a year. Lockdown made seeing 1 person easier, but it started before then, and I've come back for advice maybe once or twice. When you read too much theory you can get overwhelmed and forget the world is not totally predictable, and doesnt totally conform to any model.

I would think someone has told her in town one night recently. Why they would, I don't know. Just a funny bit of gossip I guess. So how would you have responded to her question "did you do anything with x last year?", and how would you proceed from my current situation tomorrow? Thanks.

I'm not sure it's true that EVERY relationship is like that, but the vast majority are. I think it's possible to find male friends who would do almost anything for you, and you should have the same attitude towards those. Most people would be lucky to meet 1 or 2 people like that, but maybe I'm just still a tad naive. Regardless of whether they'll always be there for you or not, if they're there for you now, enjoy it, and be there for them too. In the end nothing is permanent.

Cheers that's very in depth and exactly what I was after. Positive enforcement is more my way of things. She does something that makes me happy, likes makes me cookies, I return that by doing something that she likes, or simply showing genuine appreciation. When it comes to something I don't like, apathy I think is the way to go. Continue with what I'm doing as a way of showing nonverbally I don't expect such behaviour. This was a very good response, thanks again.

Thing is I think there are limits to that. From a frame point of view you can justify being a weeaboo coombrain if you have a dgaf attitude, and here I could say "I dont like you wearing glasses you have to wear contacts", I see that as ME being a bitch, who gives a fuck about her glasses. I could say "stop putting vinegar on your chips" as an extreme example. I understand your points but it does have limits, so I guess I'm looking for advice of where those limits are best put. That point about video games is one I've actually tried a couple times already. I went to apply for a credit card a few weeks ago and instead of thinking as something boring, seeing it as unlocking a new ability is a way to make something like that more fun. Video games are meant to be a more exciting version of life, but when you see life as a more exciting version of video games that can probably help a lot. I've significantly reduced my anterior pelvic tilt with consistent lifting and stretching. Sometimes I need to look in the mirror to keep an eye on form when doing certain exercises, as it was causing me issues when, for example, doing barbell rows. Most societies have been youth obsessed in fairness. The first exception I think of is ancient Rome. The busts and statues are often of men in their middle age, which as considered their prime. They have wisdom but are still physically capable and they have acquired wealth and resources. Female roman busts tend to be young too though.

/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/19 12:44 PM
1

Would it not be weird at all for me to lose a parent and not say a word to my partner? At the funeral I guess there'll be other topics of conversation and who says I need to do a reading?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/19 12:42 PM
1

So say I lose a parent, or close friend, I just shouldn't talk about it to anyone? Not only are you saying men shouldn't talk about how they feel to a partner, but they shouldn't talk about it to anyone. Why so you think male suicide rates are so high?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/19 12:40 PM
1

Why would it be stupid?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/19 05:22 AM
1

Didn't even notice I did that! Might be a good idea to keep questions with yes and no on the same "side" of the argument in future, cheers
/r/PurplePillDebate13/09/19 05:16 AM
3

Good examples, cheers
/r/PurplePillDebate12/09/19 06:56 PM

I missed that, cheers for the insight though I hadn't considered that.

Calf raises might be a good one. I try to do some cardio and occasionally go cycling but working calves in the gym consistently would be better. I'll try with chin ups first or I can use the assist machine, my gym has one. Thanks.
/r/askTRP11/09/19 03:20 PM
2

Yeah I definitely noticed a lack of bicep development. I'm not quite sure where calves is worked either, are they used during a squat? I've been using EZ curls as a semi compound movement though I think chin ups might be better. I'd also like tot ry to do pullups. Would lat pulldown be a good way to see if I can do pullups, as the movements are similar? If I can do 75kg on the lat pulldown I could surely do pullups, right?
/r/askTRP11/09/19 11:37 AM

I'm doing stronglifts 5×5 but I've been mixing up the workouts lately for more variety. I think having a set routine like I used to follow would keep me on track. Also doing some running and swimming on days in between.
/r/askTRP11/09/19 05:27 AM

Thanks, I need to keep my why in the forefront of my mind more.

Any song suggestions that work for you? I get personal taste and all but maybe I'll find it helpful too.
/r/askTRP10/09/19 07:08 PM

I will try get a mate there more often or just chat with the regulars more, and maybe that mind trick would work well too! I'd rather stick away from crossfit though. Cheers.

I can try this, thanks

I wasn't fat but I just wasn't very popular and quite weak, couldn't take banter etc. That side of me is fine now but I've been putting on mass over the past year or so and forget that I'm not the scrawny kid I was haha, cheers
/r/askTRP07/09/19 11:49 AM

Thanks.

Yeah I didn't enjoy it. Painfully predictable jumpscares and your mum jokeswere the peak of the humour. It also can't decide what it wants to do. Moments are a confused mess or dramatic, "scary" and funny, leaving you sitting there wondering what the fuck you're meant to be feeling. I didn't get to see the first but my mates said it was better than this one. There were some cool elements to IT 2 but they're nowhere near enough to redeem the movie. If you want a scary movie coming out soon look a…

Hey cinnamon sounds like a good idea
/r/askTRP03/09/19 02:25 PM

How do you out that together into breakfast meal? I want to get into eating more 'organic' (think that's the right word) foods.

Right. I wonder how well I'd be able to fulfill my calories if I fasted. I think I'll give it a go sometime.
/r/askTRP02/09/19 07:16 AM

Oh really, I'm gonna look into this, thanks.

Interesting, might be worth a try. Cheers.

I see. Its not always easy to find honest dietary information because of the biases, or people trying to sell a particular diet plan. Thanks.
/r/askTRP02/09/19 07:14 AM

Haha just kidding, sounds good though, cheers.

I see what you mean now, that's a pain but it is the best way to go

Hey that's decent, I bet most of the calories are from the PB though right?

There is an estrogen issue with flax?
/r/askTRP01/09/19 08:22 PM

That's a really cool perspective. Makes you appreciate the food you eat more I guess, even if you just have your stomach grumble for an hour or two.

Iron deficiencies can be debilitating.
/r/askTRP01/09/19 08:19 PM

Yeah I hear the estrogen controversy about soy a lot and I've heard people on both sides say definitively there's no evidence for the other side.

I've literally never heard of Marco Polo talking about Mongol eating habits but it sounds interesting. Any links?
/r/askTRP01/09/19 08:15 PM

I will cheers. Its something I've looked into myself but I don't know if I would be able to get all my calories in in an 8 hour window. Maybe I'll just give it a try
/r/askTRP01/09/19 05:13 PM

That's interesting, I might look into that about a carb crash. I eat porridge most days and find around middayish I start to get real tired.

Will do, thanks.

I've literally never heard of steak for breakfast but a lot of guys here seem to suggest it. Sounds like having ice cream for dinner to me haha

KISS. There's some great ideas here but the classics are easy and pretty healthy.

Tried it a couple of times, mum has it every day. Pretty good because you can mix it up so much.

I consume eggs anyway I can. Eat them raw, scrambled, blended, or insert them anally.

Any one of those three is so nice in stuff like that, or rice pudding
/r/askTRP01/09/19 12:43 PM

Surely plenty of protein in that. Why only egg yolks?
/r/askTRP01/09/19 12:43 PM

As in like a rump steak?
/r/askTRP01/09/19 12:40 PM

Like the sound of those oats! I bet a pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg or ginger would add a little flavour too.

How many calories a day do you consume?

I don't remember that storyline in Stranger Things 🤔

Hahaha I like that one, thanks pal.
/r/askTRP21/08/19 07:45 PM

Definitely agree with this. At the end of the day if I hadn't turned her down the risk would be issues with my friendship group so I would rather lose a potential girl than long standing mates. As you said once things have cooled down a bit there's always the possibility of re engaging, so for the meantime I'll get to know some new people. I might see her around, so I think a quick acknowledgement would be best, and not full on conversations, but blanking her would be so awkward too. By the way …
/r/askTRP21/08/19 07:39 PM
1

Well I went ahead and told her anyway, she was understanding and wondered if it was a bit soon too. He is being immature but he hasn't got abundance mentality so can you blame him?
/r/askTRP21/08/19 07:00 PM
2

Yeah I guess abundance mentality can slip sometimes, thanks for the advice.
/r/askTRP21/08/19 02:59 PM

I'd say most of Kubrick's filmography has the broad subject of the duality of man. Many of his films use red and blue to display this, though nature/humanity v technology/artificiality are also important dichotomies (2001, a clockwork orange etc). The prominence of red and blue as themes for EWS made me think of the link to the red pill/blue pill ideas and the post for this sub. I've not read it yet but there's a TRP post about EWS I've saved to read later.

I've never seen it like that. Cheers.

What would be a red pill perception of sexual deviance?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/19 07:00 AM
1

Illuminati is such a loaded word with so many assumptions. The illuminati was a group of Germans (I think) in the 18th century that lasted a few years. Arguing that there is a portion of elites aiming to direct world affairs, and possibly engaging in hedonistic and "immoral" behaviour, is not the same as arguing the illuminati exists.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/19 06:59 AM
1

Well the film covers lots of people. Rich and poor, young and old. From the way some women in the film act it seems like it could fit the red pill narrative.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/19 06:57 AM
1

Why's that?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/19 06:56 AM
1

In Kubrick films it tends to be. Jack wears a red coat when indulging in any pleasures in the Shining, like kissing the woman, drinking, or swinging his axe. Wendy and the little girls often wear blue, spattered with red. The girls are covered in blood but for Wendy its normally something like blue overalls with a red coat, for instance. That's also foreshadowing for the end of the film. Off the top of my head I can't remember how red and blue play into other Kubrick films but they tend to show …
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/19 06:55 AM

The Shining is not about the moon landings. The only reference to them is Danny's jumper. That's hardly blowing "the lid off" the "hoax". We landed on the moon. I'm not up to date with this Epstein thing though I have heard it mentioned. I'm guessing its something that's been around for a long time seeing as eyes wide shut is 20 years old. And I don't know what to say about the illuminati 😂
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/19 06:50 AM
2

That's a good way to put it.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/08/19 06:45 AM
1

I guess it is. The plot of the film from there is that Cruise becomes obsessed with having a sexual encounter and gets himself into different situations, until he gets in over his head with a whole society of powerful people. It's her comments about feeling a tender but sad love for Cruise I find interesting though, like she pities him.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/19 08:44 PM
1

That makes sense. Thanks.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/19 08:41 PM

Could you explain more what you mean by "where is the harmony?" please?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/07/19 08:26 PM

Well Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, married, go to a fancy party. They head off to mingle. She gets approached by an older Hungarian man, who attempts to seduce her. They dance, and when it is confirmed that his intention is sex, after a long conversation on the dancefloor, she leaves. Tom meanwhile takes two models for a walk, one on each arm, and they flirt, until he is called away for a friend. He is also reluctant to stay with them when they confirm that sex would be their intention, so the c…

No Country for Old Men is a good one, and The Revenant. Other than those and a few others I watch older films like any of Stanley Kubrick's, Nam films like Platoon and Apocalypse Now. One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest is a good one too. Strong themes of manipulative women having their dominance over men challenged (in a mental hospital ward).
/r/askTRP27/07/19 05:19 AM
1

That's a pretty solid explanation of Stoicism.
/r/askTRP14/07/19 08:35 AM
1

It frustrates me to hear the common term "stoic" (stiff upper lip etc, which I don't believe to be a bad thing either) confused with Stoic philosophy. It happens often on TV. It's not only natural but good to have emotional attachments, but, as the other guy said, emotional dependency is bad. If he said dependency instead of attachment he wouldn't have got down voted haha

This is UK politics but I understand what you mean to an extent. One of the two men will become PM, however only members of their party can vote. They must gain support from the whole country while appealing to a small minority of the population who make up the electorate for this vote. Televised debates will affect the way in which the votes are cast and as I understand frame, it will play a big part here.
/r/askTRP09/07/19 08:00 PM
4

I want to learn to identify it. Examples with real world implications will help that.
/r/askTRP09/07/19 07:46 PM
4

Is frame not an important part of politics? I was hoping to learn some good examples of strong /weak frame from those who watched and could point it out.
