Yeah that’s heavy brother. There’s times when I have to fight major despair that it’s all been a waste and there’s no time to rebuild the “right way”, if such a thing even exists.

It’s called Narcissistic Addiction. My new trauma therapist has me learning all about it. I feel the same way about my STBXW. With her for 15 years, since I was 20. She’s the only woman I’ve ever slept with and she’s always been the most beautiful woman in the world to me. But now I’m struggling to wrench my heart away from her. Even after all the stuff from the affair and years before, not to mention the shit she’s given me since I found out and she ended it. It’s just a weird mind fuck bro. I’…

She claims to be sorry for it, and has her female friends (all wives of my own friends) convinces she is remorseful. But she hasn’t followed that up with any actions or followed much of any of our counselors directions/homework. She says she’s “emotionally drained” towards me. But she has enough energy to constantly research narcissism (she thinks her AP is one, but who TF cares?!), and to hang out and party with her girlfriends. Only alone with me is does this “exhaustion” present itself. Perso…

I can probably get that pretty easy from the AP’s STBXW. However, I do not believe she will end up going to the AP once this is all over. He knocked her up right before the end of the affair and she didn’t find out she was pregnant till after it was done. Then he got pretty nasty about it and ghosted her pretty hard. I’m guessing her primary drive in trying to contact him was to scream abuse at him, but it doesn’t matter. She knew my boundary more clearly than anything I’ve ever told her. Absolu…

My only hope for getting more than 50% custody is that I am starting to work from home and my wife is actively looking for a full time job and moving out for a while to “get space”. She doesn’t know I’m filing so when I speak to my attorney I’m going to ask if I should wait until she does both of these things before actively starting the process.

I knew the AP - VERY WELL, or at least thought I did. He was my best friend. He’s currently divorcing his own wife and has cut all ties with mine. He does have a past history of narcotics abuse, but has been in recovery for many years. In fact he led the Celebrate Recovery group at my church, which I attended. I have no history of addiction, just needed a class to go to while my kids were in theirs. So yeah I k ow the guy’s skeletons because his wife and I shared a lot of info once we caught the…

Fortunately I have used the last 7 months to dive deep into counseling and therapy. I’ve learned a ton about myself and what I legitimately have done wrong in my marriage - because, I’m 15 years together I couldn’t have been perfect. I have already gone through No More Mr. Nice Guy and will be going back through again after joining several boards/groups about it. My therapist diagnosed me with CPTSD from both childhood issues and the way my wife has behaved towards me over the years. I intend to…

Fortunately my business attorney is well connected and recommended one of the heaviest hitters in my area. I realize I’ll get taken for a ride no matter what (in terms of what I “deserve” after being cheated on), but I intend to minimize the damage as much as possible.

I have lived this on both sides. Excellent statement.
