Same. If their test isn't recent I'll even demand that they need to take a new one and to forward me documentation. Can it be a bit awkward? Sure. But fuck if I'm risking my health and safety.

I don't know how much I'd trust a man to take a pill everyday, at the same time while also avoiding things that are contraindications so much I'd be willing to risk having to go through child birth or an abortion.

Outside all the important notes that have been brought up. Let these facts sink in about her current situation. She's paying rent on a mortgage she isn't on the deed for and helping him pay off his mortgage on a property with her BOYFRIEND of 8 years! And that's even before he's suggesting she pays it off for him! She was already in a bad situation. Edit: no surprise a dive into their profile and he's told her he's not sexually attracted to her and in a dead bedroom over a year ago.

It selects for women who would tolerate that kind of relationship with him. Obviously a very large number of women will be a 'no', but the pool who brushes it off or reacts positively will be likely ok with being treated poorly in the long-term.

Same thing happened with Priyanka Reddy who was brutally gang raped and murdered. Her name became one of the top hits on porn sites because men were hoping her rapists recorded and uploaded a video. The demand was so strong, porn producers fabricated and posted scripted versions of the crime. News link

I know OP said talking about it over and over again doesn't feel like it's helping but your example is one I resonate with. Sometimes it's not the act of talking about it over and over again, but the response and replacing those bad feelings when thinking about a particular event with detachment. Spaces like therapy or support groups are great for this because there's no stressed social etiquette to have the listener respond with pity or surprise or whatever empty social niceties. Oftentimes in …

I think yellow/orange flags are things that may be flags for you but depends where you're at and what you want in your relationship. Example - orange flag for someone in their 30s-50s might be a previous divorce (but statistically more common depending on your age range), while a red flag while in your 20s. A yellow flag in your early 20s -> he's not finished with his education and career but he's independently making headway. Red flag if he's in his 50s and still not in a stable career path.

I'm sterilized and I still wouldn't be fully open about it with a guy unless we're already exclusive. I'm very openly child-free and only date CF people, but you're right, if a guy finds out you're on BC they push so much for sex without a condom.

Yes, I had one guy who came back after years and I hadn't even remembered our date. That's how insignificant of an impact he made on me. He even sent his past and present photo and no spark of recognition, nothing. But from both photos he had gained weight and was not ageing well. In our short interaction he admitted he hated his current job. (In the same time, I earned some degrees, leveled up my career and lost weight) Then he asked if I wanted to hang out and "catch up". Let's all remember the only reason the US FDA didn't approve Thalidomide for pregnant women was a female doctor asked for more studies to be done. Even though it had been approved by 20 European and African countries, Dr. Frances O. Also US specific, but you can't work on a fiance visa without work authorization (the filing fee is a couple hundred dollars) on top of the other immigration expenses. And even if it's approved it takes months of wait for approval. I will also say this. I'm not saying couples therapy or therapy in general is always a waste of time but it's beyond a waste of time with a narcissist or gaslighting partner. Because while in therapy they will have a mask on and turn the therapist against you or the therapist sees beyond it and knows your partner is the issue but will never really able to get them to see it because they refuse to stick to individual therapy/medication.

I agree. In no way do I blame anyone for their abuse. But I think as women we're conditioned to be nice even when we're terrified. And even from a young age we're taught that bullying and abuse = love, "He just teases you because he likes you". If another boy gropes you, "boys will be boys". And even instances of sexual assault and rape have been criminally under punished because it would destroy the rapist's life. Learn to love being alone before you look for a partner. If you don't you're more likely to end up settling for a bad relationship under the false belief that it's better than being alone. I think no person should get asked this question. In either regards you can ask all day what a person brings to the table but if they never bring it, it's like future faking. In order words, your partner should show with how they act what they metaphorically bring to the table. If I posed this question back on some LVM they would just answer with things they think I want to hear and never do them.

Your post reminded me of another on this sub that was talking about books, specifically young adult/YA books and how male-centric storylines, Harry Potter, Percy Jackson were considered a default storyline while series like Hunger games, the Uglies, and Divergent were for young women and how often were socialized to just accept that this is all 'normal' until you really start to analyze the media you consume and how it chooses to depict certain characters.

Re: female writers thing. I think it's a selection bias. We primarily see the work of female writers who are successful in a male dominated industry. So I think a lot of the female writers are the industry version of 'the cool girl'. She brings emotional depth to male characters but knows 'audiences' (aka male audiences) don't care about the lives of women. In regards to strong badass female characters I largely agree. I like a badass, but women can be more than a badass or a damsel in distress.…

It reminds me of a post which discussed how men only really want to have sex with women, but when it comes to having actual positive feelings, admiration, respect, love, they're only capable of having those feelings for other men because they view men as equals. I think this extends into Hollywood storylines since the average male viewer and a lot of Hollywood writers generally only seem capable of writing complex male characters but lack the ability to do the same for women. This is the same as saying 99% of women aren't college educated (because we have been historically barred from even entering college). Simply because it was a choice women had to accept in the past, doesn't mean that is true for the current generation. The original comment didn't suggest this was an outdated statistic, but one that affected them personally. Edit: specifics

It also doesn't mention if that's done by choice. Only the past 2-3 generations have had birth control options and access to abortions. Historically, women would have to deal with the consequences of rape in a society where rape was more common.

Also general recommendation, whether you're into SM or not, make a general account. Make it super bland, even anonymous, follow and only like stuff you'd want your boss and parents to see. Nothing FDS-related, nada. If he asks to exchange SM, exchange away and peek into his likes and follows for further vetting.

I honestly don't get how more people, including men aren't fighting to discuss the toxic mentality that incel spaces instill in men. If you care about societally about men's mental health, discussing a group which not only radicalizes young men into committing violence but also makes men feel worthless and regularly uses the phrase 'rope or cope' and says your life is over if you can't be with a woman is necessary. Agree. I don't hate cats, but because most of my family is allergic, I've never been around them to understand their body language. For example, rolling on their back and showing you their belly? Dogs = pet please; cats= it's a a trap. Tail moving? Dogs = this is amazing. I'm so happy; cats=hunting, irritable, annoyed. I'm totally open to learning their body language, but I also know that cats; particularly rescue cats (I rescue all my dogs) would require more knowledge than I have.

Like logically, why would a man purposely have a standard of being with someone that makes less than them and be upset when they're asked to pay more in the relationship? I've noticed that some people just cannot stand to be single. They jump from relationship to relationship like some kind of needy monkey, constantly needing the validation from having a partner. These people ultimately are unhappy with themselves. It's one of the reasons FDS teaches that one should only enter a relationship AFTER learning to be happy being with yourself and knowing what you actually want.

In the Jewish community, it's normal for couples to get screened before they're married and no one would suggest that was eugenics. For those unaware why I'm not sure what they think genetic screening is or why it's a bad thing to be informed about ahead of time. It wasn't your fault. It's one of the reasons I dislike the show as a whole because it makes people who do feel that way feel like their ideas are accepted (even though most sane people agree that the situation and the character are NOT okay, there are some people who don't understand that it's satire) and it makes certain situations of rape a joke. Here's the thing about dating as a woman, which a lot of men misunderstand and isn't represented in media. No matter who you are or what you look like, men of all types will trip over themselves to be with you (sexually or otherwise). It's very easy to find someone who will commit to you (but with 0 effort on their part). Men will not treat you the way you deserve to be treated until you accept nothing else. Society has trained women to look to men for validation, of worthiness, attraction, etc.…

And when I would say something to the effect of, "I hope you sleep well" he would interrogate me and be like "well aren't you sleeping too? I thought you were asleep?" Like no, I had things to do that didn't revolve around you

I want to note that this is attempted or completed rape and not just sexual assault or catcalling. A lot of #NotAllMen will state well that number is inflated because a simple whistle will qualify a woman for it. But it's not.

Yeah. I have never had any positive feelings towards Trump but I always wondered about Melania. This isn't a criticism on her but probably the controlling nature of her relationship, but I don't see her as having much of a personality. Everything seems to be curated and selected by some publicist. It's like real estate when it's staged. On the surface it looks good but it lacks life. I can't wait until she's no longer as much public scrutiny and can finally be herself, finally share her voice. S…

Women didn't sleep their way to the top, men withheld power and opportunities until women had to trade sex to get anywhere. It wasn't out of desire, passion or even interest. In some fields and some places it's the only way to succeed.

We could. But much like we saw with the UK and their porn ban, until there's a cultural shift on how a majority of the population views porn, nothing will truly change.

Porn sites won't do it until they're legally required to do so. They know how much business in advertising alone they would lose. And if one company starts requiring it, men will just use one that doesn't.

It was the one where a boy, Tommy, witnessed the murder of his step mom and the trauma rendered him unable to speak. So they go looking for his first wife who 'walked out' on the family. Turns out the husband was abusive and the first wife had to escape and the step mom was killed by the husband. The episode ends with Tommy saying he'll testify against his dad.

Research into female reproductive conditions, particularly those not directly related to pregnancy is so underfunded. Pregnancy is also underfunded in comparison to male patterned baldness or erectile dysfunction. But it's unsurprising to me when I hear women aren't properly diagnosed with either endo or PCOS.

There's this episode in Law and Order: SVU, called "Desperate". The abuser isn't a cop, but there's a scene where the detectives are interviewing a seemingly stranger to the family, one of the last people to have seen one of the past wives alive, and she explains why the wife had to disappear and that she's part of an 'underground railroad' for battered women. I can't find the clip itself but it's one scene that's always stuck with me.

My mom never really said anything about it growing up. She was a single mom and all I knew was she was on her period a lot because when she was on her period we couldn't go to the pool. School taught me that periods were shedding of the endometrial lining and blood was involved. I was always an avid reader and around my teenage years, my mom got me a couple 'cool' puberty books. One of my peers, upon hearing I was child free, said that it was my responsibility as an intelligent woman to procreate because the "poor and illiterate" were popping out babies like crazy and there would be no future if I didn't procreate. Even pretending you aren't catering to male fantasies is a male fantasy: pretending you're unseen, pretending you have a life of your own, that you can wash your feet and comb your hair unconscious of the ever-present watcher peering throug…

It boggles my mind how many professional adult (28+ years old) men randomly text me shit like this. How do I get this stain out of my clothes? At what temperature do I cook this? Should I get this shirt? How do I wash this shirt? Does this meat look ready? Etc. Now I'm not the home maker type, I don't post pictures of my lifestyle and I do not have kids. I was never a fan of the Little Mermaid, but the scene from Swan Princess always stuck with me. For context, the prince's mom organizes a ball with all the local princesses for him to select a bride. He selects a princess whose father has been making them spend their summers together. He made fun of her constantly, excluded her, etc. She shows up in to the ball and he is entranced by her beauty and yells for everyone to organize their marriage and then this scene happens. It was definitely a big…

Exactly. Immigrating isn't as simple as "oh I want to move to New Zealand. Let me take a flight there and buy a house." There are strict regulations about immigration, even if one or both of them have in demand careers, the chances of both of them getting in separately can be low depending on the country. Some countries take marriage as a consideration as well so if one of them gets in so will the other will also likely get in so why isn't that also a consideration?

My stepdad legitimately said something to this effect about laundry. This was a man who lived alone for several years without a spouse and use to religiously do laundry. Several years into the marriage and post early retirement (mom is still working full time) he ruined a load of only my mom's laundry and insisted to me he was banned from doing laundry by my mom (which he wasn't). He then stated if I knew why guys didn't do laundry and stated, "because they feign incompetence until they are no l…

I had a somewhat similar experience. Although, as a child it was all-women and then my mom remarried into a family which was literally all-men. Instead of growing up with it, I was thrust into it. The worst part (for me, I can't imagine how you grew up with it) is my new stepdad, who always wanted a 'daughter', thrust on me all these gender roles and ideas of what I was simply because I had different genitals. It was disconcerting and weird and never stops being that way.

Honestly this sounds like something that belongs on RP women rather than here. While I disagree with libfems on certain topics (mainly sex work). The idea that all of feminism is about forcing women to work and be the breadwinner and not have the option of being a wife and a mom is a bit disingenuous. I think most feminists would argue that everyone should have the choice to be those things but also have the choice not to be. I also disagreed with her caption that "abortion isn't health care". S…

What makes a man high value as well as attractive varies from person to person. A lot of FDS posters often discuss HV-traits and how-to-high value and focus on behaviors rather than physical traits. At the end of the day how a person looks or how tall they are or aren't isn't going to contribute to the well being or happiness of either person in the relationship.
