Wrong. You’re just referencing different claims now rather than acknowledging and engaging with the ones which you now know are logically inconsistent

>No, what needs to happen is that instead of women getting all of their needs met from the government, they need to get it from the man they marry instead, and the mans assests have to be protected in a no fault divorce situation in order to make marriage a good safe deal for men as well. >This way women and men will pair up more often again and bring back the birthrates to stable numbers as well.

I’m just repeating what you said lol and you’re unable to reconcile the logical inconsistency. And now you’re just making things up with no evidence.

You claimed people are no longer having children because of women receiving government assistance, yet most women receiving government assistance have children.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/26 06:52 PM

Women receive more government assistance because they’re caring for children. Which contradicts your idea that the falling birth rate is due to government assistance. The government assistance exists precisely because there are children

You keep saying “men are more capable” is a proven fact, but none of the evidence you’re giving actually supports that claim. Yes, men on average work more paid hours and overtime, and men take more dangerous jobs. Men also have greater strength. None of that demonstrates that men are innately better at most jobs. That would require providing evidence that men systematically outperform women across most occupations. You haven’t provided that evidence. And “men dominate STEM” doesn’t establish it…

The idea that men are more capable and therefore that’s why they earn more isn’t supported by evidence. Obviously, men are stronger than women, but jobs that rely on strength don’t tend to be the highest paid. The types of jobs pursued, historical trends, etc all have an impact, but if we look at performance within jobs across gender, there’s no evidence men are inherently better: https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/0149206310374774? You claiming otherwise seems like more of a personal desi…

Harder jobs aren’t necessarily associated with more money. And people aren’t always earning more because of “superior abilities”. There’s a lot that goes into it. For instance, there are some cushy jobs which are way easier and overpaid compared to some lower paying physically challenging blue collar jobs. And the idea that if one person is earning more in a relationship, the other person has to “repay” them in some way is…something. It would be near impossible to have a healthy relationship wit…

Men do earn more on average so it makes sense if they’re paying more costs. But generally both people work and contribute to finances these days, it’s not the man providing everything, and alimony isn’t really a thing anymore. Or are you talking about child support? I see things split evenly among most people in my circle, but most of the women I know have high paying jobs so that’s probably why. I also don’t know what you mean by women not wanting an equal say

As you say, no group can claim credit for upholding society. Likewise, you can’t claim we don’t need a group either. Sure, individually, no one needs a boyfriend or girlfriend, but societally you need both genders
/r/PurplePillDebate06/08/26 01:47 PM
2

I’m assuming you don’t mean it’s true that men can collectively claim credit for upholding society (even when they make no related contributions) but the idea that “men uphold society” is true. Women were constrained in how they could contribute in previous years, but contributed regardless. Healthcare, labor, raising future generations. And now there are female dominated jobs like teaching and healthcare. And the conclusion doesn’t follow. Society is too interdependent. It’s like saying farmers…

My point is that when it’s a man who doesn’t even work in those industries claims women survive off the work of men (as though all men, collectively, are upholding society) it feels as though they’re claiming some sort of credit (and sometimes, they explicitly do, using language like “we built society, etc”) just for being a man.

I was mostly thinking of men in the US who claim things like women shouldn’t be able to vote because they haven’t registered for the draft and treat it as though it’s a life disrupting event. I do think the draft should be abolished or women should also be required to register and can agree there may be some level of anxiety tied to it. But what I’m getting is that if you haven’t actually served, you can’t act as though registering for the draft is at all comparable
/r/PurplePillDebate05/08/26 10:22 PM
6

It always seems like men making these arguments are never the ones doing this type of labor intensive work. Men who are loudest about the draft have also often never served. Stolen valor, in my opinion

From what I can tell, they're controlling for the baseline difference in life expectancy between men and women rather than treating the difference as inequality. Statistically, that makes sense. It’s addressing whether a country deviates from the baseline, not about whether men and women have the same life expectancies. Otherwise, every country would be identified as unequal because women tend to live longer on average. We can take steps to help address the difference in lifespan (like encouragi…

Why? Wage isn’t biological. Lifespan is, in contrast, somewhat inherently biologically influenced, a fact you refuse to engage with. In fact, you’ve refused to engage with or present any evidence for your own claims.

These factors contribute, but are not the driving forces as concluded by researchers. I’ve been using data to inform my understanding: https://www.health.harvard.edu/blog/why-men-often-die-earlier-than-women-201602199137 https://www.who.int/news/item/04-04-2019-uneven-access-to-health-services-drives-life-expectancy-gaps-who? Because they’re not the primary reason driving the disparity. It’s biological factors, which are compounded by higher risk taking behavior tendencies, less of a tendency to seek medical care as compared to women, etc. homelessness and war are certainly more associated with male mortality than female mortality, but ultimately it’s a biological difference driving the gap. This effect is even observed in other species like birds. We can do things to address it, but it’s a similar claim to claiming …

/r/PurplePillDebate03/08/26 08:42 PM

I do agree it is a basic biological difference. It’s not “oppression” that men are bigger than women.

I consider myself a feminist, but the word has lost all meaning. Just because I support equality does not mean I automatically want men to fail or women to be superior. Honestly, almost not worth discussing with anyone because the terms have lost all meaning.

Yes, less intelligent people do generally have more children and those children typically have worse outcomes (lower educational attainment, lower income, worse health) than children with more intelligent parents. But it’s not that black and white. More intelligent people are also having children, as are average people. My ultimate point is: when men clam they don’t care about anything but looks, the implication is they don’t care if their children are dumb.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/04/26 04:07 PM
2

It depends on what you value. Personally, I’m glad I’m with someone who is both smart and good looking. I don’t think I would enjoy being with someone who wasn’t intelligent Also, intelligence predicts a lot of life outcomes like length of life, income, etc. there’s more to life than just dating

Well, yes. When I’m attracted to my husband it doesn’t come from a place of “your ability to do arithmetic is so instantaneous” but “your face is hot”. But having a sharp mind is a prerequisite for me, although not for everyone. To each their own. My point is, the logical conclusion of making your decisions about whether to pursue someone on looks alone means that you’re fine with eventually having dumb children.

I don’t have a dog in this fight. I have a husband and he likes me for whatever reasons he likes me. But I have to ask - when men insist they don’t care about a women’s career and they’d be fine with a cashier from Wendy’s (a widespread argument, although maybe not yours) as long as she is hot - the implication is they don’t care if their partner is dumb. If their children are dumb. Do they realize they’re implying that most men don’t care if they have smart children? They’re fine with dumb kids…

Based on the study, 8% of respondents self-reported that they had been falsely accused of some form of abuse. Men reported this at higher rates than women (11% vs 6%). Many accusations were reported to occur during custody disputes (27%). So what we can conclude: many adults believe they were falsely accused, and men report this more often than women (although this study provides no police reports to provide more objective support for the claims, it’s ultimately self report). 20 million is a cra…

Disagree. It’s not just blindly agreeing with people. What I see as “emotionally intelligent” people are people who don’t obliviously make insensitive comments to other, can immediately tell if someone isn’t feeling well/is upset, asks insightful questions when discussing emotional topics, and is also aware of their own emotions. Equating antidepressant usage to unhappiness is backwards. If anything, it means people are actually more likely to seek out the help they need to feel better. This is the same line of thinking that leads people to ask “what are you depressed about?,” assuming depression just means you’re really sad about something. That’s generally not what depression is. Occam’s Razor isn’t “pick the explanation you personally prefer.” It’s the explanation that requires the fewest unsupported assumptions. The assumption that children only fail to report abuse when it’s done by people they know is not supported by evidence and it contradicts the actual research available to us. There’s a wide body of evidence showing victims of sexual abuse, under different circumstances, are reluctant to report.
/r/PurplePillDebate03/12/25 02:45 AM

Actually, if you know anything about the behavior of people who have experienced sexual trauma, it’s not uncommon for them not to disclose. And it doesn’t even sound like she willingly disclosed, her mother took her to the hospital because she became sick, vomiting frequently, and that was how they found out This report has a fairly comprehensive literature review on why or why not children victims of abuse choose to disclose: https://www.d2l.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/10/Child-Sexual-Abuse-Dis…

The higher life expectancy argument is dumb. It’s not society causing it, it’s due to biological factors and personal choices.
/r/PurplePillDebate07/03/25 08:44 PM

No, it’s not an assumption that it’s a net negative for them. The name itself includes the word “benevolent.” And it’s specifically about sexism women experience, men experience their own forms of sexism and issues related to the opposite side of the spectrum in terms of gender expectations. Both sides of the same coin. It’s like asking why doesn’t breast cancer awareness talk about prostrate cancer awareness - because although both important, they’re different topics

Has it happened to you? I can see it happening in high school, but it seems like something that goes away in your 20s.

Generally, no they’re not
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/25 11:01 PM

I don’t think so. It depends on how it happens. Maybe some women do, but I think most women are flattered if someone they’re not interested in expresses interest. Same for men. But there’s a difference between a polite approach vs. catcalling, the latter of which falls into objectification territory. It’s not black or white. But honestly, a lot of your complaint seems to be that women don’t always reciprocate sexual interest
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/25 04:42 PM

Do people commonly call that objectification? Just sounds like disinterest or rejection. What is she supposed to do instead?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/25 04:18 PM

What real world circumstances would it not be harassment? What does “looking with sexual desire” mean? Staring at some random women’s tits on the subway?
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/25 05:58 AM

So harassing women is male sexuality? I don’t agree with that
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/25 05:07 AM

That would be harassment

You’re free to interpret it however you wish. But it’s not an assumption that infantilizing women has negative outcomes for them. For instance, imagine giving women less challenging work assignments than men because you’re protecting them - and then they don’t get the same experience and fail to advance at the same rate. I seem to remember some research along those lines.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/25 06:00 AM

And they shouldn’t be expected to
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/25 12:59 AM

Benevolent sexism is things like holding the door, “ladies first,” etc. it’s not “trade offs in equality, rights, and freedoms, being controlled by a man.” And you’re not getting a straight answer on final devision making because it’s almost never black and white like that in real life. Whoever cares more about the issue gets to make the decision in my relationship or it’s a compromise.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/25 09:37 PM

No, in research benevolent sexism is presented as bad for women (because they’re infantilized) and men (because they’re unnecessarily putting women first, which does accrue women some benefits even if the overall sentiment is condescending). Not as only disadvantageous for women
/r/PurplePillDebate09/02/25 09:37 PM

Because fathers usually end up with custody after advocating/fighting for it and are presumably more invested in the kid(s). Mothers are the default parent and not all are equipped. If we only saw the outcomes of children raised by mothers that similarly actively fought for custody/were invested and not assigned by default,I imagine we’d see similar outcomes And two parent households do better for obvious reasons

/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/25 10:19 PM
2

We’re having arguments surrounding hypotheticals so false equivalencies should be avoided
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/25 10:13 PM

False equivalence. The equivalent would be if he did certain sexual acts with his exs but doesn’t with his current partner. The equivalent for your example would be if the woman put in more work planning dates, surprises, cooking, etc for a previous partner
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/25 08:17 PM

Why, exactly?
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/25 08:15 PM

With peace and love, that’s not an equivalent comparison. An equivalent comparison would be that he used to do specific sexual acts but now doesn’t want to do them. The parallel to your example would be if a woman planned over the top dates and bought amazing gifts for her ex but didn’t for her current partner

This was true before the gun was invented. How are rights enforced in the USA? Not with raw physical strength. Officers are armed. I’m going to say something you won’t agree with. The horrible things being discussed are not all due to patriarchy, but patriarchy is the term used to describe the system of rigid gender roles people have historically ascribed to. If that term’s too loaded for you, let’s just call it rigid gender expectations: men are the head of the family (e.g., they make decisions, we get our fathers’ names), but being the head means men must also be soldiers and protectors while women are weak and must be pr…

/r/PurplePillDebate10/10/24 01:32 PM

You’re not arguing against a real stance or person. Most women probably understand why men wouldn’t want to date an escort or OF girl unless they worked in those fields themselves

I can’t speak for all women, but I’ve literally never called a woman a slut and I’ve never heard any of my female friends do it either. I don’t give a fuck if women or men want to sleep around. 70% only applies to non reciprocally violent relationships, which is roughly half of domestic violence: Almost 24% of all relationships had some violence, and half (49.7%) of those were reciprocally violent. I don’t know research on DEI hires. Can you link to the stats you’re referencing? And my point is that is how most VP picks are made, but people only use that language with her because she’s black and a woman. Pence was another “DEI” pick but we don’t see any language around him of that nature.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/24 11:49 PM
1

Yes, thats what DEI means, but when most people say something like “literally a DEI vice president lol” particularly in conservative spheres, they’re 100% implying she’s not qualified. If that’s not what you meant, okay, but she was also chosen on the basis of other factors just like Vance was. If they could pick any black female to sit in for VP only for their gender and race they wouldn’t have bothered choosing someone with certain stances or qualities.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/24 11:41 PM
1

So Vance is allowed to appeal on the basis of income, state, marriage status, and religion but Harris is only allowed to appeal on the basis of race and gender? Why? She was chosen, in part, because of her gender and race, but also because of other factors like her debate skills, experience in government, being from California, and having strong opinions on police reform. Saying someone is a “DEI” pick implies that they were only chosen because of their race and not their qualifications. It stro…
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/24 11:30 PM

Demographic appeal means chosen for race, gender, etc. What do you think “demographic” means? And you still haven’t concretely explained what makes Vance more chosen for policy and Harris more chosen for her demographic characteristics
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/24 11:06 PM
1

It seems to me Vance was mostly chosen based on his demographic appeal and then policy only insomuch as it aligned with Trump’s. He wrote a book called the “hillbilly elegy,” clearly he’s appealing to a certain group. Do you have any more concrete examples of how he was chosen more based on policy than Harris?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/24 06:12 PM
1

Disagree. For VP, Walz was chosen to appeal to a certain demographic as were Harris and Vance (who is supposed to help with blue collar workers). Harris was chosen to run for president so they didn’t lose Biden’s campaign funds.
/r/PurplePillDebate01/10/24 04:02 PM

Alimony is a shrinking number of cases. It should be decided on a case by case basis. Are you paying your ex alimony?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/09/24 04:41 AM
3

Can you send me the actual CDC link? If anything, it sounds like obesity rates are similar enough that studies produce inconsistent findings. Also, it’s better to google “obesity rates by gender and age” rather than a leading view, as that leads to cherry picked studies
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 02:43 PM
7

You realize alimony isn’t decided by gender, right? It’s decided by wage. I agree alimony shouldn’t be given in almost all cases, especially if people can support themselves. But if someone - male or female - has given their life and job up to support their partner in their success and raise children, with no life skills as a result, then maybe alimony should be considered. But that’s not really a scenario that happens now that more women are in the workforce
/r/PurplePillDebate31/08/24 02:37 PM
3

Actually, more older men are obese than older women, with the exception of those aged 60 and older (and the discrepancy is smaller there): Among men, the prevalence of obesity was 40.3% among those aged 20–39, 46.4% among those aged 40–59, and 42.2% among those aged 60 and over. Among women, the prevalence of obesity was 39.7% among those aged 20–39, 43.3% among those aged 40–59, and 43.3% among those aged 60 and over. https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/databriefs/db360-h.pdf

You can’t see how the claim “women owe productivity to society” is related to the number of women working and paying taxes vs the number staying home - the most common idea of productivity. Nor can you see how it relates to the number of adults having children even though that’s what your idea of productivity entails
/r/PurplePillDebate24/08/24 10:11 AM
1

We did… Women owes productivity to society and society owes sexual and marital opportunities to men. The vast majority of men and women are working in these essential things. Men more for “things” and women more for “humans”. It doesn’t matter anyway, being productive isn’t just working and paying taxes, it’s also being available on the sexual and marital market, and making + raising kids. But the equivalent of a childfree woman is a man who doesn’t work. These are all things you can verify with…

Show me the stats. And lol bullshit. So many men want families and lots of men don’t
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/24 01:05 AM
2

Nope. Some men who don’t work watch after the kids at home. Childfree working men are equivalent to childfree working women. Nonworking women are equivalent to nonworking men. SAHM are equivalent to SAHD. I could also argue people who make more money contribute more to taxes and those taxes in turn support poor parents who are raising children so…take that to its logical conclusion
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/24 12:47 AM
2

Then that same logic applies to child free men

Yet women owe society for productivity…even though they contribute to its productivity?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/24 12:29 AM
2

That wasn’t an explanation. I can say we owe society’s productivity to all working adults, which makes more sense. Women constitute a significant amount of the workforce, and of those who don’t work, most raise children. It doesn’t directly contribute to tax money, but it is necessary for society to function
/r/PurplePillDebate22/08/24 11:45 PM
2

You didn’t respond to what I wrote, but that’s fine. Explain how women owe productivity to society and society owes sexual and marital opportunities to men. And that doesn’t make sense to me at all - the equivalent of a child free woman is a child free man. The equivalent of a woman who doesn’t work is a man who doesn’t work. Explain how it’s otherwise.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/08/24 11:00 PM

I wasn’t claiming anything about a free market. I’m pointing out you can’t claim women owe men because some industries are more male dominated. Rather, men and women owe the people working in those industries. Most men do not work that type of job. It’s stolen valor to claim credit for it if you don’t have that type of job
/r/PurplePillDebate21/08/24 03:38 PM

You’re not talking about men. You’re talking about a specific working class. Men owe them as well, not just women.

My rebuttal is the same: the human fist is no longer the biggest weapon. Your reasoning puts us back in the Stone Age and ignores societal, technological, legal, and cultural advancements. Women very well could create their own Leviathan now because raw physical power is no longer a prerequisite for power. And it’s not even for women’s advantage, though they benefit. I don’t agree that equality has anything to do with raw physical strength or the following: I agree men physically outperform women. But what does that have to do with equality? It means that sexual equality is not a fundamental and ultimately relies on men's benevolence to accept a Hobbesian Leviathan that enforces it. As a matter of realpolitik the Leviathan's social contract must appease men since if they revolt women cannot defend the Leviathan against an alternative patriarchal Leviathan. T…

I wasn’t making the argument that society can be built without men’s buy in. I’ve been focused on discussing the idea you brought up as proof of men’s superiority - let’s call it what it is - a hypothetical incel revolt. I don’t buy that a) there’s enough men in modern society who would buy into the idea of rising up and taking away women’s rights to make it feasible or b) if there was some sort of extremist group or movement, they would be able to overcome the government. You can extend this argument not just to women, but to all of the physically weak (elderly men and women, children, weaker men) as well. Women can't win in direct competition with men so they pout and scream to create their own leagues of losers. Here you are asserting that it should be obvious that women do not want to be treated as second class citizens when the opposite is the truth. Women go to great lengths to avoid seeing the truth. Women want to be treated as equals knowing full well they are losers. From this, I assumed you were equating strength to usefulness/purpose. Men, on average, are stronger than women, yes. But th…

My understanding is that your argument suggests raw strength is the defining quality of humanity’s usefulness and purpose?
/r/PurplePillDebate07/06/24 02:15 AM
1

Not necessarily. Some men would perform worse than female athletes so it’s not a binary. Also, you’re implying that human equality should stem from physical strength: “women want to be treated as equals knowing full well they are losers.” It seems you’re arguing that they’re losers because they’re weaker. But if we apply that to all of humanity… a bunch of men drop to the bottom as well, not just women. And can you explain the pigeonhole principle in the context of your argument?

But we’ve been talking about how the data compares different levels of education and you claimed it’s “based on an average hourly across 40 hours.” I assumed it was based on median weekly raw earnings, which takes into account hourly rates, bonuses, etc. And homemakers and retirees also often have degrees so that effect would not be exclusive to the category of people without degrees. I think the issue you’re experiencing is that the average doesn’t represent your experience. But that’s because …

What do you mean by “jobs” and “careers”? And fine, maybe that comparison doesn’t work, but my overall point stands: you want exceptions made for one category, but aren’t making equivalent exceptions for the other categories. It’s not flawed, it’s at a population level, which means it’s not going to focus exclusively on people at higher levels or at the highest level in their career. You realize this applies to the other categories too, right? It includes people who just graduated and are early in their career (which is roughly equivalent to what you describe as people in the learning phase). If you want to make equivalent comparisons, consider what that means for each category.

Yes, getting a degree doesn’t automatically translate into a living wage. But, based on the data, I’m still going to argue you’re more likely to make a living wage with a degree than without one. And it’s fair to conclude that more education generally means a higher income. And I’m sure you can find how things vary as a function of hours worked, etc if you feel like digging through BLS data. I’m sure you’ve experienced that, and it sucks, and I don’t like the attitude that suggests you need an education to be successful. That’s not what I’m saying. People use the CDC study to claim Lesbians perpetuated violence is the highest, but actually bisexual women experience the most. They also fail to account for gender of the perpetrator, mistakenly believing lesbians only report violence inflicted by other women. 43% of lesbians report having experienced IPV. Of that 43%, 67% reported exclusively female partners. Ultimately, we can conclude 28% of lesbians experienced IPV perpetuated by women, 34% of heterosexual women experienced IPV perpetuated…

Can you explain how the existence of the Duluth model invalidates the CDC study?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/24 09:18 PM

Men underreport violence to authorities…but in anonymous research studies? Do you know how the CDC collected data? I agree men are likely to underreport relative to women. My mistakes? And those are what, exactly? I explained yours, but you can’t bother engaging with the data. I wouldn’t be surprised if violence is underreported by men, but it doesn’t change the fact you’ve misunderstood the CDC data set, specifically what 67% of 43% means
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/24 05:38 PM
1

So we’re on the same page. People use the CDC study to prove lesbians are the most violent in romantic relationships, but don’t realize that this study includes male perpetrated violence within the lesbian category, muddying the waters. Lesbians actually experience the least violence (if we focus exclusively on female perpetrators), with bisexual women experiencing the most violence
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/24 05:27 PM

Do you not understand the mistake you just made in regard to the 43 vs 67%? It’s not propaganda, I’m literally citing the CDC data which people erroneously use to claim lesbians are the most violence demographic. Read the report. Is that propaganda too?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/24 04:27 PM

You’re blatantly misunderstanding the stats lol. 43% of lesbian women reported iPV, 67% of them had exclusively female perpetrators. You ignored the data so there’s no use talking with you.

lol, you’re missing the point. It’s misleading, yes, but the lesbians responding in the study also reported having male perpetrators, suggesting perhaps they tried dating men before coming out. Are you claiming the CDC data in fact shows that lesbians are more violent than other demographics? Most bisexual and heterosexual women (89.5% and 98.7%, respectively) reported having only male perpetrators of intimate partner violence. Two-thirds of lesbian women (67.4%) reported having only female perpetrators of intimate partner violence. If you read the full report, most victims do not have multiple perpetrators either If we removed the percentage of lesbians experiencing IPV that was perpe…

They’re right that people are incorrect in using the CDC data to argue “lesbians commit more violence against their partners than heterosexual men” or even “lesbians experience more violence than other women” (bisexual women experience the most violence, men are the most common perpetrators of IPV against women)
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/24 08:06 AM

Nope. Duluth model has nothing to do with the CDC data referenced
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/24 08:01 AM

That’s the whole problem. People hear the word “lesbian” and immediately assume all violence reported in that category is perpetuated by other women (not without reason) but they’re wrong. Specially when it comes to the CDC data. That’s their point.
/r/PurplePillDebate26/05/24 08:00 AM

No, they’re just refuting a common misconception of CDC data. People hear the word “lesbian” and immediately assume all violence reported in that category is perpetuated by other women (not without reason) but they’re wrong. That’s their point

/r/PurplePillDebate25/05/24 05:51 PM

I agree with you there. Women calling men useless is toxic. I suppose my main point was most women don’t hold that view. But I agree we should call it out when encountered.
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/24 10:42 PM
1

You’re putting words in my mouth. Of course you can call it out. You can protest. But getting mainstream society and official institutions to intervene will usually only happen in extreme cases. I guess I should ask what your goal is? How should we deal with women who want men to fund their (usually expensive) lifestyle?
/r/PurplePillDebate16/05/24 09:42 PM

I think most men learn to just avoid these women. A bunch of assholes with backwards views exist in the world, but we learn to avoid them until they do something that crosses a line (e.g., mass shooting) then we try and target the underlying ideology/remove forums where they gather

You don’t understand what “oppression” means. As I said, that isn’t a commentary on the quality of life. Men had more agency. Also, you thinking not being able to reproduce is one of the worst things that can happen is very telling of a naive worldview
/r/PurplePillDebate13/05/24 05:12 AM
2

You’re creating your own argument to respond to. Most people aren’t claiming “all men oppressed women,” but that society oppressed women. Which is true. Most people understand that doesn’t inherently suggest all men lived a privileged life. But they generally had more rights than women. If you feel defensive about objective historical facts, you need to engage in some self reflection and ask yourself why

I didn’t say anything about it not being older women. I said it is mostly women complaining about age gap relationships, but for both genders. Did you even read my reply? Though, I’ve also heard younger women complain about age gap relationships. I can link you TikToks and Reddit posts, though that’s just as good a source as comments on an article. Saying “you’re just jealous” to people who disagree just seems like an ad hominem so you don’t have to engage with their points

Women seem to be the loudest voices (rightfully) denouncing relationships between older women and younger men they groomed (e.g., Aaron-Taylor Johnson and his wife). Also, why does this topic come up so regularly? Hasn’t it been exhausted?

1

For war. And I don’t understand your point. You claim women need men because the majority of people who work construction and on a farm are men? By that logic, women should also always fear men because the majorly of people who kill are men. Do you see the problem with an entire class of people taking credit for the work or responsibility for the actions of a small subset of that group? If you don’t work in these industries, you don’t get to claim some sort of credit for it. That’s called stolen…
/r/PurplePillDebate08/05/24 10:31 PM

A small gun kills just as easily as a large gun. I also don’t live in a war torn or third world country so it doesn’t apply to me. If you do, you have different expectations. But it’s a moot point for first world citizens like Americans. And men and women work in construction and on farms. There’s more men in these fields, sure, but women can and do also work in these fields. Do you work in construction or on a farm?

Wealth redistribution…by more evenly redistributing wealth among already wealthy children of wealthy parents? The wealthy have already made it clear they’re very good at maintaining generational wealth without sharing with the common people. This would just widen the gap between the poor and the rich.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/24 01:24 PM
1

Ah, so you would want more single mothers and men lying about birth control?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/24 01:22 PM
1

That’s not an equivalent comparison. In one case, you’re forcing a medical procedure on someone. In the second, you’re oppressing an entire class of people. I also wouldn’t think it’s fair for stronger men to be legally allowed to take away the freedom of weaker men.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/24 01:22 PM
1

Just pointing out what seems like a serious flaw with the pro choice scenario.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/24 04:48 AM
2

It’s just the biological reality of the situation. Biology isn’t fair. If men were the ones carrying the pregnancy, it would be their choice. But that’s not the reality, so they have to be practical about who they have sex with and if they’re using protection. But both parents are ultimately responsible for the child (or should be)
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/24 04:45 AM
1

Exactly. It is mutual. Which is why both people should pay for the child. But saying one party has zero responsibility means that party isn’t going to take birth control seriously
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/24 03:16 AM
1

Sorry, I meant to say in pro choice jurisdictions - if the man has zero accountability from the start, there’s no incentive to use birth control. Some people are already bad at using protection, even knowing they’re taking a risk. There are some men who would be lying their way to unprotected sex knowing they wouldn’t have to deal with the consequences. There’d likely be a lot more single mothers with this approach
/r/PurplePillDebate30/04/24 02:23 AM
0

So only the rich should be allowed to procreate
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/24 11:03 PM
1

So let the kids die?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/24 11:02 PM
6

And women often serve as the primary custodial parent and pay for the child. Both people consented to sex, both people should contribute to raising the child and paying
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/24 10:47 PM
1

One problem with this approach is there would be no incentive for men to use birth control under this policy in pro-life states.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/24 10:46 PM
2

You’re arguing men shouldn’t have to raise their children, unless I misunderstood? Both parents made the baby, they should pay for it. Otherwise everyone else (taxpayers, including you and me) are footing the bill. Better for the children if both parents are involved too. I want a better society, not a worse one. Do you think women should also be absolved of responsibility in the case of single fathers?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/24 08:05 PM
1

The problem with the CDC study is it doesn’t acquire data from the man’s perspective. I know couples who mutually decided to be lax with birth control because they knew they were okay with/eventually wanted children. It of course may be the case that some women were doing this without the men’s consent - but we simply don’t have the data to conclude one way or the other. It certainly doesn’t suggest most single mothers resulted from trying to baby trap men.
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/24 08:04 PM
5

That’s a special case. I’m sure it happens, but implying it explains the majority of single mother households?
/r/PurplePillDebate29/04/24 06:46 PM
4

So men shouldn’t be accountable but women should? I don’t think this should be a hot take, but both parents should be accountable for paying for and raising their children. This goes for single fathers too - mothers in those situations should pay and chip in It’s also better for the child’s welfare

Nope, your first mistake is assuming making more money means superiority. As I’ve noted multiple times, there will be discrepancies between incomes due to the previous generation of women being encouraged to work and all generations disproportionately taking time off for childcare. But even so, the younger generation is catching up and even out-earning men. Does that make them superior, since according to you making more money = superiority?
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/24 05:09 PM

You missed the point where I noted it’s essentially been the last couple of minutes within human history, if we think of human history as 24 hours long, women have been encouraged to pursue careers. They’re still the primary caregivers too. It’s going to take time. If a man claims women are inferior to men, he’s a misogynist. If a woman claims men are inferior to women, she’s a misandrist.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/04/24 04:07 PM
0

You don’t think the fact that men have been the ones actively encouraged to pursue such things and, basically for a second in the grand scheme of human history, women have been just now having the same opportunities has an effect? Men outearn women because women are more likely to forgo job opportunities for the sake of raising children. You’re free to continue spouting this as proof women are inferior to men, but it makes you a misogynist

/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/24 05:35 AM

It’s just a biological reality that men orgasm more easily than women. If you’re a heterosexual man and want your partner to orgasm, it takes more work. PIV alone doesn’t normally do it for women. If thats not your cup of tea, that’s fine, but it does make you a selfish lover
/r/PurplePillDebate22/04/24 05:34 AM

My point is that 90% of men on dating apps aren’t in relationships already and actively looking to cheat. It’s also not very common for women to want and pursue dating someone who is taken. It’s not a common phenomenon
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/24 07:38 PM
-2

Yeah. Sorry, but someone has to pay. It’s either the government (all of us) or the biological father (and custodial parent, the mother in this scenario), and I’m going to vote for the people who very likely could have prevented the existence of that child with adequate birth control

People have already mentioned that statistics show people marry within their SES and class. Relatedly, a strong predictor of a child’s success is their mother’s education level. I think people should be free to desire what they want, but I’m always baffled by people who say they don’t care if their future spouse is educated or has a career, just that they’re agreeable and attractive. Maybe they aren’t equating those characteristics with intelligence, but the data shows there is a strong correlat…

You say the vast majority of men aren’t tricking women but also claim 50% of men women match with are married. This is a very unkind view of men. Do you have a source to back up this statistic or is this based on anecdotal evidence?
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/24 07:23 AM
3

You can date whoever you want. You should have whatever preferences you want as well. But this reads to me like someone who has been very hurt and is lashing out at women who had nothing to do with that hurt. This could backfire when you meet a woman who isn’t approaching it from a jaded perspective. If she is genuine and just looking for her match without playing games, this bitter outlook isn’t good for her or you. You’ll lose her before you really have the chance to keep her
/r/PurplePillDebate21/04/24 07:19 AM
1

No, it’s not misdirection. You implied women can no longer have children after their early 30s. But actually, it’s more likely they’ll have children, rather than not, if they’re actively trying (until 40). It’s objective fact and dangerous to pretend otherwise, as it gives people the false impression they can quit using birth control in their 30s. Don’t do that unless you want a baby https://academic.oup.com/humrep/article/19/7/1548/2356634

I’m not sure why you’re so upset and snarky about this. Yes, it’s an estimate, but it’s a highly precise estimate with a low margin of error. As I’ve stated again and again, this does depend on collecting quality data and having a representative sample. I don’t think it’s worth arguing with you further

What would you accept as proof? A detailed lecture on probability and previous examples where the results of a smaller sample accurately predicted the results of a larger sample? Data from all American men? I can’t provide that. My understanding of statistics is enough proof for me, but your understanding isn’t enough for you. And that’s fine.

Okay, I just love that this is specifically about penis size lol. It just makes it feel so much more absurd. And yes, I would believe it. I don’t look at stats as a gotcha but they do tell us what’s real and what’s not, in my opinion.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/24 02:47 PM

Yes, they can. If you understand probability. Is the reason you’re attacking statistics because you dislike the conclusion?
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/24 04:20 AM

I didn’t evaluate the original study, you’re right, so I can’t tell you how I’d evaluate the methods. Adding up multiple studies, rather than one large study, isn’t ideal. That being said, stats are still hard facts. Agree to disagree

Minimal is a key word. It wouldn’t be an entire inch larger, for example, but maybe (unlikely) .1 larger or smaller. But unlikely unless they did a bad job getting a random, diverse sample
/r/PurplePillDebate13/04/24 02:36 AM
2

I’m a woman so I don’t care about the average penis size. I do care about statistics. Assuming the data is collected in a randomized way reflecting a diverse set of participants, you can generalize to the broader population. It’s why insurance companies and public health companies, among others, make meaningful decisions based on statistics and spend a large sum of money on people to provide this data to them. You may not believe in it, but it’s the closest thing we have to objective fact and is…

With all due respect, I think you’re misunderstanding the meaning and use of an average. It would take a lot of typing to explain why averages shouldn’t and aren’t used to say things like: “the average height of women is 5’4 so most women are 5’4.” Or: “the average couple has 2.5 children so it’s likely most couples have 2.5 children”. That’s not how you’re supposed to use or interpret an average and is a misconception. You need to also look at context: range and variance, then you have enough i…

And jumping in one more time to say that a representative sample will also tell us what variability is present in the broader population (you need only examine the SD and variance)
/r/PurplePillDebate12/04/24 07:45 PM

Just jumping in to say that any published data has been tested to ensure assumptions are met. You don’t move forward with analysis otherwise. Instead, if the data doesn’t meet assumptions, you choose a more appropriate statistical analysis (e.g., you find an appropriate non parametric analysis for non normal data). This is stats 101

Are you arguing the custodial parent (in your argument - the woman, because more often than not, she is the primary care giver and custodial parent) doesn’t pay for the child? The custodial parent almost always pays more.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/24 08:00 AM

The government doesn’t care how the secondary parent feels about it, they just need the child paid for, so if you contributed to its existence, you pay.
/r/PurplePillDebate09/04/24 07:57 AM

Looking at it pragmatically, from the government’s perspective, if there is a child in need, the parents will be made to pay, not the tax payers. It’s not that hard to prevent an unwanted pregnancy, and given that it results from a man’s orgasm, shouldn’t he be extra careful not to orgasm in an unprotected fashion unless he wants a baby? On a semi related note, how do you feel about the fact a lot of states have made abortion illegal?

With all due respect, you’re still not explaining how the study is flawed. You’ve yet to discuss survey questions, which is what I would expect someone to point to as evidence of bias, not the existence of a model. The CDC wasn’t even testing hypotheses, it’s more like census data. I have a feeling you aren’t even familiar with the methodology of the CDC study and are just writing it off without even reviewing it because you dislike its conclusions.

First of all it is a survey study conducted in 2010 after ~40 years of proliferating the Duluth model throughout academics, public policy, and media. If you think such a profoundly warped understanding of IPV didn't impact survey results then I don't know what world you live in but it isn't realistic. But they didn’t use the Duluth model to inform their approach. Can you explain more specially how the existence of the Duluth model impacted their results? Next, the NISVS 2010 never mentioned atte…

But the CDC data doesn’t use “misandrist definitions.” Can you point out specifically how it does so? And how should the data be revised? Perhaps the estimates aren’t perfect, as all data will have biases, but that doesn’t mean you completely throw it out. My main point is that the evidence is clear that lesbians don’t have more violence than heterosexual relationships and the conclusion that it does is based on a widespread misinterpretation of the CDC data, as explained throughout this thread
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/24 06:46 PM

But your argument is essentially that all data is biased, allowing you to conclude what you wish to believe and ignoring the actual evidence. Why look at the evidence at all then, if you’ll dismiss whatever doesn’t agree with your worldview because of “societal bias”? There is bias in all data, yes, but the evidence is overwhelmingly clear: there isn’t more violence in lesbian relationships relative to heterosexual relationships
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/24 04:35 PM

They explained why you misinterpreted the data and your response is to say well the data doesn’t matter anyways..
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/24 06:06 AM

Lesbians certainly experience DV, but not as much as heterosexual and bisexual women.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/04/24 06:03 AM

Thank you. It’s so annoying how widespread this misinterpretation of the data is.

Now you’re just nitpicking and looking for an argument. I said “most” people because there will inevitably be someone chiming in arguing that no, it’s quite easy for them to stay fit and everyone else is just lazy. I think it takes hard work, personally, but not everyone does

FDS is not “many women.” They’re the female equivalent of incels
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/24 02:09 AM

My point was that someone saying that they like someone looking somewhat fit doesn’t mean they’re envisioning someone like Chris Hemsworth in Thor (like the first comment he linked). It’s also two random people on Reddit (and one from FDS of all places), not really indicative of a broader trend
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/24 02:08 AM
2

What does this mean?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/24 01:51 AM

Well, that’s frustrating. Being fit takes work for most people. But it’s one random person
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/24 01:49 AM

I’m not sure what conclusion I’m supposed to draw from that, because I still don’t know what she means by “quite fit.” Also, two cherry picked Reddit comments do not a trend make. I’m also having trouble the older comments so I may be missing some context
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/24 01:07 AM
6

Not really. She said she doesn’t prefer a body builder physique, but someone “somewhat fit.” We have no idea what that means to her without a picture or definition. I doubt she’s referring to Chris Hemsworth’s physique in Thor

I’m not saying most women wouldn’t find him attractive (although it’s debatable if most married women would sleep with him). I’m saying most women don’t expect men to look like that or think it’s easy to achieve
/r/PurplePillDebate15/03/24 01:02 AM

Women who can support themselves don’t need to get married and rely on a husband anymore, something that wasn’t generally an option a few generations ago. As a result, women are pickier and less concerned with relationships now that their survival doesn’t depend on having one

The things you listed just sound like a matter of compatibility rather than love. You can show your appreciation and care without doing things you don’t want to. Having preconceived ideas of what “acts of service” are without communicating it ahead of time can spell disaster. And it should never be one sided.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/24 03:03 AM

You want your partner to love you like a mom?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/03/24 02:55 AM

I think they’re being overly critical because no one has done for them what you do for your partner. So they’ll keep looking for something to pick at. Kind of like a case of sour grapes.

I didn’t make the claim, he did. He has provided no compelling evidence “big feminism” is actually influencing research. It’s on him to provide evidence. Once it’s been established, then I can engage more critically. But it’s literally just thoughts from his head.

Meanwhile, your arguments are purely in the land of conjecture. Your theory is police give us our rights and police could take over if they stopped protecting our rights. That would apply to everyone not in the police, though. Why would they decide to align along gender lines and not along occupation? Why should they care about the average man not in the force with them?

lol now you’ve disengaged with reality. We have historical trends as evidence…something I pointed to earlier.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 06:15 AM

I think it’s had mixed effects, but is necessary. Taking it away would be disastrous. And you care so much, it’s painfully obvious. Or you wouldn’t be combing through my boring comments.

You’ve lost me. What did I say was “wrong,” my obsessive friend?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 06:14 AM

It’s not worth my time talking to you. You’re not very smart

Do you have more information on the feminists shutting them down?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 06:09 AM

Because it’s fucking obvious? We have finite resources
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 06:05 AM

Because OP made a point, I engaged with the point. He made the claim so providing evidence is his responsibility. That’s how debating works. Something you continue to struggle with

What does police enforcing rights have to do with the idea of men giving women rights? If women are also part of the police force?

Where did I say that? And that’s not how it works.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 05:56 AM

You said “how do women” implying all women. Most women don’t enforce their rights physically. And police aren’t just men. You’re actually detracting from your own point of view

/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 05:36 AM

Ad hominem. I actually now have access to a pdf version of the book. I searched for the word responsibility, accountability, blame, and tribe but still nothing related to your point… am I missing something?

Deflection. No evidence. You’re lying
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 05:23 AM

Deflection. Still no proper citation. You’d fail
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 05:16 AM

But you made a one sentence point that you should be able to support with a passage from the book…. Again bringing me back to the point that if it’s too difficult to find evidence from your source, you’ve misinterpreted it. Getting you to actually provide your source and rationale is like pulling teeth. You’re illogical, unfamiliar with how to properly cite evidence, and relying on feelings rather than evidence. You’re either a troll or deeply in denial of how ignorant you are. I can’t continue …
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 04:50 AM
1

I never said I dislike excerpts? You’re expecting everyone else to go read the same book (or books) before they can engage with your argument. It’s pretty standard knowledge for debating and research - you need to clearly and specifically cite your claims. The fact you can’t tells me you’ve likely misinterpreted his work
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 02:50 AM
1

You can’t make a claim and then put the onus on everyone else to do your work and support it for you. You have no credibility. I don’t even care about the idea, I’m opposing this because it’s a pet peeve when people read an abstract or a popular press article’s interpretation of scientific work without even opening the actual study or work. And then wildly misinterpret it to make all kinds of dubious claims
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 02:34 AM
1

If there’s so many passages related to this idea, it should be easy to share one that supports your claim.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 02:18 AM
1

Actually, if you make a specific claim, there absolutely should be a clear and rational explanation from the author of the theory explaining that claim. That’s what good theory is. Good theory isn’t mystical read between the lines and draw your own conclusions. It’s clear and specific. David Buss would agree with me. What you’re telling me, instead, is you’ve formed your own conclusions based on your interpretation of his work, which I very much doubt you’ve even read. When you make a claim, you…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 02:15 AM
1

Cool, we finally got to the point. Now quote a passage from Buss that supports your claim.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 02:06 AM
1

You’re not explaining your claim or theory. I’m not making any claims, I’m just trying to understand your claims so I can verify it matches with the work of Buss. But you won’t tell me, likely because you know that’s not what David Buss claims…
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 02:02 AM
1

Are you claiming most women most of the time avoid taking blame and responsibility, while men are more likely to take blame and responsibility and this is David Buss’ theory?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 02:00 AM
1

So it is women don’t take responsibility for their actions? Women don’t take responsibility or accountability for their own actions nor do they like it it in general - it has the same meaning. Men PREFER taking responsibility and accountability for things - if it gets us something. Women DON’T prefer this. Can you cite a specific page where his book actually says this? Because I think you’ve misinterpreted it
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 01:55 AM
1

What is the theory? I genuinely want to know what you’re claiming because it’s getting lost in a lot of conjecture.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/02/24 01:53 AM
1

What a large straw man, and completely irrelevant to my question. You’re saying David Buss claims women don’t take responsibility or accountability for their actions? Do you honestly think he’d agree with your interpretation of his work? Also, if you’re at all familiar with the field beyond his work, you’d know a major criticism of evo psych is it cannot be empirically tested - it’s a theory based on interpreting current behavior and genes, but there are a potentially infinite number of alternat…

I’d also argue most amateur porn is made by men for men, but I’m not an expert on amateur porn so I may be wrong
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/24 04:22 PM

It just sounds to me like you don’t understand female sexuality and why women wouldn’t enjoy straight porn where they’re treated like an object. It concerns me that you think straight porn should be a reflection of what women want. Do you understand how different porn is from reality? That most women are faking enjoying the crazy, uncomfortable scenarios often depicted in mainstream porn? I’ll agree women are more likely to admit or experience attraction to the same sex than men, but women watch…
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/24 04:21 PM
45

What’s the question? Theoretically, any group could decide to take away the rights of others. As others have pointed out, a truly dedicated widespread group of women could do some serious harm to men. But this idea sounds like an implicit threat of violence or, for the truly depraved, wishful thinking. “If men weren’t choosing to be nice, we’d strip you of your rights.” Do you want a thank you?
/r/PurplePillDebate20/02/24 05:07 AM

Oh, I understand why. I definitely agree women consume less porn than men. I was just answering OP’s point about why straight women might prefer lesbian porn
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/24 11:37 PM
9

Do you really need me to spell out why a woman is more likely to orgasm from the scenarios generally depicted in lesbian porn than from the scenarios generally depicted in straight porn? Also, as others have mentioned, I’m not sure amateur porn was in its own category in the survey you referenced. I’m assuming it was divided into larger categories (e.g., is it lesbian amateur porn?) and overshadowed/outnumbered by the non amateur porn in those categories. Also, I’m assuming the majority of amate…
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/24 10:24 PM
8

I guess it depends on the type of amateur porn. But if you’re looking at porn as a whole, the majority of heterosexual porn is very focused on the man, and lesbian porn obviously isn’t. That again comes down to the methodology of the study op referenced. They likely didn’t even consider amateur porn or, if they did, again divvied it up into larger categories where it’s overshadowed/possibly outnumbered by mainstream porn.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/24 09:33 PM
7

Idk, but my point is this kind of thing depends on the methodology. We’d need to see all the categories considered to conclude. But I would also argue amateur porn is largely made for men and still a predominantly focuses on their pleasure
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/24 09:19 PM
10

Is hetero amateur porn even a category in the analysis OP was referencing or would it just fall under hetero sex in general? Because I’d assume it’d be overshadowed by the amount of non amateur porn
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/24 09:16 PM
112

Most porn is made for straight men, with an emphasis on the angles that look best and fantasies catered to men. There isn’t much focus on things women like, and women fake their pleasure. In contrast, lesbian porn generally has more of a focus on things women find pleasurable

/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/24 03:35 AM

People chose less sex or more children, with an average of 4.5 - 7 children per family. There was also a higher mortality for babies then, keeping the number of children lower than it would otherwise be.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/02/24 03:33 AM

I’m not sure you’ve thought this through. Do you realize if you get in a relationship in this scenario, the only time you have sex will be when you’re trying to have children? Are you up for having 6 - 10 children or swearing off sex until she hits menopause? Maybe you want a Duggers style family (19 kids because they don’t believe in birth control), but most people don’t. Assuming women aren’t also outlawed from working, I think they’d choose more often not to be in relationships or to marry so…

That’s quite a different sentiment than what he said. He was focused on attractiveness, not behavior
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/24 04:44 PM

What social media? You said Reddit initially. I think this behavior only occurs in the deepest, darkest holes of delusion.

Maybe reality has a misandrist bias
/r/PurplePillDebate16/02/24 04:34 AM

I think people being outraged at men not “finding all women to be goddesses and beautiful at all sizes” comes up more as a hypothetical scenario here than anywhere else as a real situation on Reddit. Although maybe there’s some niche subreddits I don’t know about. I think most people agree you don’t have to date anyone you don’t want to, but should also try to be polite (e.g., avoid statements like “I don’t date below average men/women”) when rejecting someone.

You’re resorting to ad hominem because you didn’t have a good argument and even now can’t explain or defend it. It’s okay, I think I’ve proven my point and I have to return some video tapes now.
/r/PurplePillDebate14/02/24 04:43 PM

I think we’re talking about two different things, then. OP mentioned women wanting to “ensure their safety,” which I took more literally. But my point stands: it makes sense for both men and women to be somewhat wary when meeting a stranger for the first time. The idea that doing so filters out “good men” doesn’t really make sense to me. Unless OP is talking about extreme cases where a woman does something like demand a background check and is generally very rude. But then wouldn’t that be an ev…

I’m just repeating your logic back to you. If it’s funny, maybe you should rethink some of it.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/24 08:35 PM

I feel like you’re just saying shit without any basis in reality. A woman screaming and throwing things isn’t seen as “spicy,” she’s rightfully seen as a psychopath.
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/24 08:29 PM
1

Are you saying men generally fit into two categories: Patrick Bateman types (psychopaths) or non-psychopaths? Is your argument that men who meet a woman’s high standards are more likely to be predators than men who do not meet her standards? I’m just helping you refine your ideas
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/24 07:42 PM
2

If I’m understanding you correctly, you think men who, on a surface level, resemble Patrick Bateman are psychopaths and the actual predators women should avoid. I’m assuming you’re thinking of high earning, organized men who take care of themselves. And men somewhat unlike this archetype are actually the “good men” women should be more open to. The problem with this idea is that the most important piece of evidence relies on these men actually being like Patrick Bateman, psychopaths. You have no…
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/24 07:30 PM

But you’re more likely to encounter a real predator than Patrick Bateman, who isn’t real
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/24 07:20 PM

Well, I’m thinking of serial killers because some of the scenarios being discussed (walking in public, meeting up with strangers from dating apps in public) could very well involve dangerous people. Obviously, serial killers are rare. But being guarded to protect against the infinitesimal chance you are meeting up with someone with bad intentions makes sense to me, for both genders. Also, when I think of the word “predator” I think of serial killers, thieves, rapists, etc. what did you mean by “…

Patrick Bateman is fictional. At least use real predators as examples

They can be conscious and analytical about it. Some are, some aren’t. There’s a wide variation in how predators (serial killers, rapists, men and women alike) operate. I can think of at least one serial killer that targeted victims who were more naive and willing to engage with strangers (Ted Bundy asking strangers for help). Someone avoiding eye contact, ignoring you vs someone accidentally making eye contact and reflexively smiling (most likely in American culture, but hopefully it illustrates…
/r/PurplePillDebate13/02/24 06:26 PM

Why not look up data on this?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/24 08:50 PM

At least they linked some research. I don’t have a belief one way or the other, and am legitimately curious to see what the science says, not anecdotes. Do you have any sources?
/r/PurplePillDebate10/02/24 08:30 PM

For some men, the idea of having sex easily (no matter if the sex on offer isn’t good) trumps everything else. And, let’s just call a spade a spade, that is because they’ve never had sex (or haven’t had it consistently). They can’t imagine a world where sex is mundane or a meaningless commodity. But that’s the reality: anyone who has had sex long enough to understand it will tell you money has a vastly more important impact on quality of life. It’s downright naive to think otherwise.
/r/PurplePillDebate06/02/24 07:11 AM
1

Not everyone’s ambition is centered around having sex. I imagine those men at Harvard are likely too busy to socialize and have loftier ambitions than sex, like a good paying career.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/01/24 05:52 PM
1

No, I have many flaws. But I don’t feel like baring my soul to strangers with malicious intention. I provided a few surface level, but I guess that’s not enough. Should I say I don’t make enough money and I was vulnerable once, like OP did? Does that count?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/01/24 04:31 AM
2

No, they weren’t. Being vulnerable one time and not having a lot of money aren’t personal failings. Self reflect and you’ll find you have plenty of real personality flaws, just as everyone does
/r/PurplePillDebate25/01/24 11:25 PM
3

I literally did start by saying I’m impatient in my comment lmao. I view it as sitting around vs getting something done, because this is coming from my perspective. But it comes across as impatient and as though I’m rushing to other people. Which is why I started by saying I’m impatient. You didn’t list a personality trait, so it’s kind of ridiculous you’re gatekeeping what are acceptable personality trait flaws.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 11:58 PM
1

Most people don’t think impatience is a good thing, but okay. What’s your personality flaws?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 11:50 PM
1

Did you see OP’s example? He listed faults of women, not anything about himself. I chose this particular trait because it’s the thing that likely irritates my husband the most. He likes to sit and think about something for a week or so before making a decision, I just want to rush and get it over with. Somewhere in between is probably the best approach. And you only listed physical flaws for yourself, by the way. No personality faults.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 11:42 PM
1

Nah, you’ve just been consuming too much targeted content. If it proves any kind of point, I know I’m not a 10. Personally, I can be impatient. I like to get things done, and get irritated if things take too long or someone wants to sit around thinking about it for weeks before making a decision. Since OP talked about his smile, I’ll talk about a flaw in mine. My top lip is too thin and is out of proportion with my larger lower lip. It all but vanishes when I smile.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 09:13 PM
4

To be fair, two of OP’s three “faults” are really not his faults, but those of the people who rejected him. This type of thread just seems like a way to expose women’s insecurities either for some humiliation kink or as a way to determine common insecurities with which to taunt women
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 07:31 PM
3

Not really. I’m very aware of my own faults but why would I share them with a stranger? If a stranger came up to me in public demanding I list all my faults, the answer would be the same. It all comes down to context
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 07:07 PM

I don’t think it’s hard. Of course women can do this. But how is it productive to the conversation? How does knowing a stranger’s perceived faults prove anything?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 06:17 PM

Well, I appreciate you’re willing to do what you’re asking. But the two later “Ls” seem like more a reflection of the women, rather than actual personal failings.
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 06:15 PM

You first
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 05:16 PM

No, most women can readily offer up things they don’t like about themselves, mentally and physically. But it seems like you just want the person you’re responding to to list out all their faults for your enjoyment. Seems almost like some kind of weird humiliation fetish
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 04:58 PM

This is a strange response. Why?
/r/PurplePillDebate24/01/24 04:40 PM

You’re resorting to ad hominem because several people pointed out you made a bad point.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/24 08:02 PM

There’s no point talking with you if you’re going to be disingenuous. A 5 year age gap is not comparable to a 10 year age gap
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/24 07:58 PM
3

You lost me. You said a 5 year age gap proved some point you made. I took that to mean you were arguing most women actually are okay with age gaps because they date men 5 years older than them (although I think the most common age gap is actually like 2-3 years). I was pointing out when people complain about age gaps they don’t mean 5 years, it’s usually more around the 8-10 mark people start having opinions.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/01/24 07:43 PM

No, the point is most couples do not have large age gaps.

As long as it’s an equivalent expectation, I don’t see anything wrong with it. Or even if it’s a more “traditional” relationship where the woman is expected to be sexy and cook while the man works, not personally for me, but if it’s two consenting adults, nothing wrong with that. But when I think of relationship “responsibilities,” a lot more comes to mind than keeping the attraction going. Just going to share something relevant. It’s possible to clone your dog or cat now, but one thing that is now widely known about this process is even though the clone will look nearly identical to the original animal and have the same health issues, the personalities are usually quite distinct. The clone will not behave the same as the original, and this is attributed to being raised in a different environment. My point in sharing this information is to stress the importance of nurture in shapin…

The video games with unattractive female characters or female characters with facial hair are not trying to socially engineer men into wanting ugly women lol. Some women can orgasm from PIV alone, but they are the minority
/r/PurplePillDebate06/01/24 05:20 AM

You’ve cherry picked studies. Here’s one explaining why some studies (a minority of studies, including the one you referenced) suggest women orgasm at a higher prevalence from PIV alone (it’s the way the questions are worded and interpreted). https://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s10508-017-1102-6 if you look at all the evidence, the consensus is most women cannot achieve orgasm unless the clitoris is stimulated in some way. Not wanting to believe this is to your detriment, if you care about…

I think it’s fair to say society doesn’t as readily recognize men as victims of sexual harassment as compared to women, but I think it’s been slowly improving in that regard
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/24 05:26 AM
2

That’s not evidence, it’s anecdotes. Women are also sexually harassed and abused, even killed by partners. Both men and women have gender specific problems. I would suggest you don’t present it as “women bad, women don’t care” but instead: here are some issues men face that I care about and want to help with, here’s why it matters. You don’t need to make grand, sweeping claims about men actually being the majority victims of abuse and therefore women should receive no empathy. Just focus on the …
/r/PurplePillDebate03/01/24 02:55 AM
2

That’s not true, but even if it wasn’t, going around asking “why should I have empathy for women?? What have you ever done to show empathy for men or boys?? Wait…why aren’t you responding positively to my approach, why don’t you have empathy for my cause?” Is never going to work. It’s too competitive and hostile, framing something as mutually exclusive (having empathy for both men’s and women’s rights) when it really isn’t. A look at your profile tells me you just don’t like women. Good luck.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/24 06:16 PM

What have you done to defend women’s rights? Why should I have empathy for men like you when you have none for women like me?
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/24 08:12 AM

I mean, that’s basically what happened? Not in so many words, but I called it genital mutilation, she was offended, we drifted apart after that. Sorry I didn’t get into a physical fight over it. I handled it the way I handle all conflicts if that nature, it’s unreasonable to expect people to suddenly behave in a heroic manner when leaving their friend of over 2 decades. You have ridiculously high standards and can’t even do the bare minimum.
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/24 01:34 AM
2

If you couldn’t do anything about it, yeah? What else are you supposed to do? Fight for the death? At least in your case you could try and warn the police or the victim. It’s an unrealistic scenario and tells me you don’t know how to function in society. And basically, you expect people to fight to the death for issues you deem important while asking why you should even care for other issues. You’re unhinged and are making it more difficult for men to receive help for their issues. Seek therapy
/r/PurplePillDebate02/01/24 01:21 AM

Because, if so, that tells me a lot about how naive you are, especially as it pertains to things that you personally deem worth notice. And the problem is most people underestimate how much work a child is so there’s no way to know whether your spouse will hold up their end or not when faced with something no one could anticipate

You seem to judge everyone as a misandrist by default, just like a woman judging every man as a misogynist by default. Toxic. So if a man marries a woman who seems sweet but then changes and beats him, it’s his fault? Shitty logic. It’s never someone’s fault for “not picking better” especially as people change over time. It’s the fault of the person in the wrong, always. For men and women. And that’s the problem: it’s not either or. You can disagree with multiple things at once. You don’t to be …

My friend and I (both women) described it as genital mutilation to our other friend, when it came out she was circumcising her son (because her husband was worried women wouldn’t like it if he didn’t/he would be made fun of in “locker room” situations [just ick all around- it’s only America where circumcision is the norm]). I’m not saying men are the sole reason boys are circumcised, but I am saying it is clearly not a case of women abusing boys but just a general men’s issue. I think most …

You’ve given some examples (not all specific to women hurting men by the way - the only people I personally know who circumcised their son did so because the husband insisted; this is a men’s issue but not a women hurting men issue) but that doesn’t prove “men are nicer to women.” I can think of just as many gendered examples of men treating women like shit. Men have specific issues, but so do women. Both genders have issues. But claiming men have it worse is no way to get taken seriously, espec…

Have you ever advocated for men’s rights? How? Have you ever stood up for a man/boy who was being mistreated by a woman/girl? How?
/r/PurplePillDebate01/01/24 12:11 AM

But men behave that way too. It’s not a gendered thing. It’s not an epidemic exclusive to men, it’s something everyone experiences at times. Unnecessarily turning it into a competition just breeds hate and, ironically, takes away empathy. You have to feel empathy to receive it
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 09:57 PM

lol how? How would you prove you had empathy for men or women? This is reading more and more like a troll post
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 09:55 PM

This is laughably untrue. But you’re not going to receive empathy by telling people you have no empathy for them
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 06:23 PM
3

Yeah, that does happen too. But what I’ve seen is men become disgusted by a woman they find unattractive posting social media, not interacting with them directly. Women can be very cruel when a man they don’t find attractive approaches them.
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 06:19 PM

Where have you seen women lack empathy? In what situations? Real life?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 06:17 PM

Because you’re consuming media targeted to support your viewpoint. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that women would not be okay with supporting men who have experienced sexual harassment. Have you tried visiting local support groups?
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 08:53 AM

I’m a woman, and I can only assume you’re asking to discredit or dismiss me. It’s really gross you’re trying to get people to recount their sexual harassment for you just to judge them and ask why you should care. You have a startling lack of empathy and are doing nothing to further your cause
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 08:52 AM

People who have experienced sexual harassment, abuse, violence, etc should help each other. Not try to compete for who has it worse… they should be offering advice, names of helpful services, and anything else that can help
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 08:44 AM

I have had my ass squeezed by a stranger at a bar and worse done to me by “friends” in situations they could pretend away as accident (although other people also noticed so I know I’m not crazy). In my experience, no one reacts in a meaningful way in these situations aside from awkwardly saying things like “wait, what just happened?” “What did he say?” “Are you ok?” And then all carries on as normal. Why do you want anecdotes of sexual harassment from strangers? What is this doing for you? Do yo…
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 08:29 AM

Of course men are vulnerable to abuse, and it’s shit society doesn’t recognize it as readily as they do women complaining of abuse. However, the answer isn’t to take on women as adversaries, which is what MRAs thrive on. Focus on getting help for yourself rather than burning down some imaginary bogeyman
/r/PurplePillDebate31/12/23 08:10 AM

It’s like some men are personally offended when women don’t do everything in their power to be as attractive as possible for their sake.

This is just world syndrome influencing your expectations. The weird quiet ones are just as prone to become abusive as the normies ones. That is, it’s hard to identify people who will become abusive

The first sources don’t compare violence among same sex to heterosexual relationships so they don’t support your claim. And “same” is not the same as “higher” so your own source disproves your claim. The second isn’t the actual study, but a press outlet’s interpretation with various quotes, nor do they specify whether it’s lesbians with the highest rate of violence. Can you link to the actual study?

This just isn’t true. The women in porn have been augmented. They’ve just been augmented in a way that appeals to most male viewers, which isn’t an overly muscular physique with a 6 pack but fit, huge fake breasts, nose job, ass implants or injections, etc. Sometimes labiaplasty.
/r/PurplePillDebate22/12/23 09:00 AM

Most women don’t come from PIV. Those who do aren’t coming from the size…they’re coming from their clitoris being stimulated indirectly. Which is about the motion/angle, not the size. You don’t understand female sexuality
/r/PurplePillDebate21/12/23 09:58 PM

It’s a biological difference, in this case. https://digitalcommons.chapman.edu/psychology_articles/74/ Men orgasm much more easily. It’s almost a given. Women have a harder time, physiologically, orgasming. This isn’t a societal thing, it’s objectively biological. A man being angry and stressed about their partner not carrying their weight around the house (although it should still be addressed, obviously) will almost always still orgasm. But that’s not the case for women.

If it’s not clear, the microchimerism results from the babies/pregnancy. Or some recent research suggests it can stem from their mother’s history of pregnancy: There was a tendency that girls were more likely to test positive for male microchimerism if their mothers previously had received transfusion, had given birth to a son or had had a spontaneous abortion. Furthermore, the oldest girls were more likely to test positive for male microchimerism. However, less than half of microchimerism posit…

/r/PurplePillDebate18/12/23 04:27 AM

Oh look, it’s another version of the unsubstantiated myth that women don’t have meaningful hobbies. For every Instagram scrolling, reality TV binging woman, there is a man spending all his free time playing video games and watching sports. No shame for video games, sports, reality tv, Instagram, or whatever you’re into, but let’s not pretend that most people, regardless of gender, have meaningful, “respectable” hobbies. But if you have a source to support your claim related to gender differences…

I had to back and read the whole stupid article to find this: Many took to the internet to express sympathy for the mother-of-two and unconfirmed internet rumors suggested she had killed herself across the weekend because of the public shaming Because she killed herself. I don’t think anyone has a “docile nature” except babies lol. Men are stereotyped as more aggressive because they commit more crime and murder, but perhaps that is only because of opportunity and disproportionate strength. I can believe women may be just as aggressive as men under certain circumstances, but if you’re trying to imply they’re innately more aggressive, I don’t buy it. And for physical abuse, it seemed like men were more often perpetrators for the elderly from your source. I don’t k…

I suppose we could eliminate anyone from both groups with psychosis (not just neonatal) then. I don’t know how many cases would be explained by people experiencing general, not neonatal, psychosis. I mentioned it because it’s a specific event that explains the behavior. That does show evidence for more women killing infants, but I assume the higher rates for women at certain age groups is associated with being around children more (at that age) or neonatal psychosis. If there was a study controlling for amount of time spent with children, that would align with your suggestion. Or you could look at who murders animal/pets and the elderly more (where I think both genders likely spend equal time/have equal opportunities) to see if it aligns with your idea. I perso…

Do you have a source for children under 8 being killed more often by mothers? https://news.brown.edu/articles/2014/02/filicide The relevant text: “Among offenders, while fathers were about equally likely to kill an infant, they were more likely to be the alleged murderer of children older than a year, especially when the children were adults (fathers were the offenders in 78.3 percent of those cases). Overall, fathers were the accused murderer 57.4 percent of the time.”

There’s also stories from young women about being taken advantage of. I have a very hard time buying most parents would overlook abuse of their children, regardless of gender. Do you have any evidence to back up these claims or is this all just conjecture based on your worldview?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/12/23 09:36 PM

More so for men, but likely less so for young boys. It’s not the young children normally reporting, but their parents connecting the dots and reporting. This will obviously change results. Unless you have proof for this specific claim?

I never said anything about oppression. You’re creating a new argument to respond to. My point is the wealthy fund society, not men. Being a man doesn’t allow someone to claim they fund society unless they are also wealthy. It’s not a gender thing. It’s a class thing. But sure, let’s talk about “oppression”. Women weren’t allowed to work until relatively recently across the entirety of human history. So they have some catching up to do, which is happening slowly. We now have more women in the wo…

Let’s not forget you’re ignoring the actual survey items to make this have an entirely different premise
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/23 06:36 AM
5

You’re again misunderstanding the authors and me. I’ve been saying the same thing over and over. I’ve been consistent and factually interpreting the results without an agenda. The effect was only significant at one time point, which aligns with the authors saying gender differences may go away with time. You’ve been spinning in circles trying to make it mean something it doesn’t. No use arguing with you about it anymore
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/23 06:31 AM
3

It’s funny how meaning changes when you leave out information: ”This also suggests that young people may start to converge on a similar level of entitlement resulting in less difference by gender and age over time.” This is what I’ve been saying this whole time, from my first comment
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/23 06:25 AM

No, because even if all the gender effects were significant the actual survey items don’t ask respondents anything close to whether they feel “entitled to bodies.”

This is a different analysis. I’m glad you’ve learned what * means, but it’s not what we’ve been discussing. The difference still wasn’t significant at T2.

We were discussing the table you yourself referenced (and misunderstood). It’s not goal posting if we’re discussing the exact same point we’ve been discussing from my first comment. /r/PurplePillDebate12/12/23 05:22 AM

You’re misinterpreting their meaning. Even if you weren’t, the data are based on those items.
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/23 05:21 AM
3

It wasn’t significant at T2
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/23 05:15 AM

Look up the actual survey items when debating the study’s meaning. Sexual entitlement was measured with the following items: If a partner were to ignore my sexual needs and desires, I’d feel hurt It would bother me if a sexual partner neglected my sexual needs and desires I would expect a sexual partner to be responsive to my sexual needs and feelings 17. I think it is important for a sexual partner to consider my sexual pleasure
/r/PurplePillDebate12/12/23 05:12 AM

Women’s entitlement was (ETA, since apparently it needs to be specified: significantly) greater at T1 only (not at T2, the second time point) meaning women have greater sexual entitlement under certain conditions, not always.

/r/PurplePillDebate11/12/23 04:08 AM
5

Depends on the relationship. But making effort looks the same for both genders, in my opinion. Making time for the other person, doing kind things - could be cooking, could be buying something nice (but doesn’t have to involve money), planning a special date, etc. it’s not really a gendered thing

You’re right, this idea of step fathers as “beta” is something I’ve only seen online. It’s a disconnected take. I also think, in addition to being older men or divorcees, single or coparenting divorced dads are also more likely to date single moms given they’ll understand each other better. Young guys on here don’t really need to think about single moms so much. You don’t have to date anyone you don’t want to
/r/PurplePillDebate17/11/23 08:50 PM

Indirectly, it does. It examines the rate of violence experienced, and the sex of the perpetrator, by gender. In other words, the CDC survey had women and men report the amount of IPV they experienced as well as report the sex of the perpetrators. See pg. 7 of this PDF (the executive summary) for more information: https://www.cdc.gov/violenceprevention/pdf/nisvs_sofindings.pdf I can’t speak to “all other data” but this other CDC survey indicates most men experience female perpetrated violence an…

It’s probably been said, but the sex would suck. Bad sex for men is often just “mediocre” sex that still led to an orgasm. Bad sex for women is painful sex without even a hope of orgasm, possibly even tearing and bleeding. So some men have a hard idea understanding why sex isn’t any sort of prize for women a lot of times

I have always disagreed with the idea of a “wall” and that dating gets harder for the average woman and easier for the average man after a certain age. But the data doesn’t provide enough context to make conclusions here. The CDC data discussion revolves around sexual orientation. Right. But, to expand, I believe the CDC study focuses specifically on partner initiated violence. So that 70% figure wouldn’t apply. It could also be sample differences, in addition to how the questions are worded, which is why you can’t try and combine findings from two different studies. People here don’t care for science. If it doesn’t support their view, there’s a reason to dismiss it. If it does, it’s infallible. People here want their views confirmed, not challenged. Although to be fair that’s everyone, unless they’re involved in research. And even then, they’re not always immune to the same biases

I was coming to comment this too. Not that this speaks to broader “real life” experiences, but a few predatory age gap relationships with older women - younger men exist in Hollywood and I’ve randomly stumbled across threads on Reddit where the people berating the predatory older woman seem to be other women. Maybe it’s not that older women care more about older man - younger women relationships, but they just care more about age gap relationships in general? Possibly because they’re more likely…

Overall, fathers were the accused murderer 57.4 percent of the time.”

That’s a critique of gender roles. Not blaming all the problems of society on something. How do men experience catharsis differently? Is this conclusion based on science? I also think it’s a projection of your understanding of current society to conclude masculine expectations started to protect men from women. The phrase “man up” originally came from football. You don’t have to speculate, there’s historians and researchers who have studied these phenomena.

Who is blaming the overarching faults of society on patriarchy? That’s a straw man.
/r/PurplePillDebate27/09/23 01:58 AM

Patriarchy didn’t create electricity and cars and roads and modern medicine. That’s like saying communism is good because it gave us the anthrax vaccine. Inventions were created during certain periods of rule/societal organizations, not because of them.

Sometimes even if the man cares and is doing his best, the women can have something like vaginismus making it painful. It’s just an unfortunate biological reality. Men are more likely to physically enjoy sex. It’s not necessarily someone’s fault. But it’s a luxury to consider sex mediocre if the orgasm wasn’t 10/10 when having an orgasm at all can be novel for many
/r/PurplePillDebate16/09/23 04:40 AM

If having a lackluster orgasm constitutes mediocre sex for you, many would be envious. For many women, simply not having painful intercourse is mediocre sex

Depends on how they react. It very well could mean they’re not a good person and would not make a good partner
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 03:49 PM

I agree with that. Unless someone has a study to contradict me, I don’t think attractiveness and tendency to mistreat your partner are related. But I don’t think people pick attractive people because they think all men are an asshole so why not pick the hot asshole. I think they pick attractive people because they’re attractive. Both men and women prefer attractive partners.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 03:49 PM
1

No, that’s not what I’m implying or what I’ve said. You’re suggesting unattractive people are less likely to be toxic than attractive people which just isn’t true. It doesn’t mean attractive or unattractive men are both inherently toxic, it means picking an unattractive “boring” man doesn’t mean you’re more likely to end up with a more reliable, less toxic person. This is true for both genders.
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 03:24 PM
1

Right, but there’s a difference between being upset but coping in a healthy way vs. reacting in an unhealthy way and blaming and vilifying everyone else
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 03:22 PM
2

Are you implying I said any of those things? I didn’t. You’re responding to a different argument you’ve constructed yourself
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 02:24 PM
1

No, I don’t think that’s true. Not everyone here is single, of course. And I’m sure men in relationships have empathy for single men. My response wasn’t a personal attack. I’ve seen some fairly toxic people on here, and selecting a “nice”, reliable partner (not sure those are what you meant by “right traits”) would exclude the loudest and most bitter of them
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 02:23 PM
1

There seems to be this idea that “boring” nice guys who are average or below average in looks will be nicer, better partners. But I don’t think that’s true. People, women and men, who have been looked over for much of their life may deal with it in a healthy manner. But they may also become unhinged and toxic (as we see from some of the very posters who frequent this sub)
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 04:08 AM
5

Why do you assume the “boring” nice and unattractive people of the world are less likely to be toxic and mistreat their partners?
/r/PurplePillDebate15/09/23 04:05 AM

What are the “right traits”? My hunch is even if women selected on the “right traits” it wouldn’t lead to the men complaining about not being selected being selected

I agree communication could definitely be part of the issue (and often is), and it’s incumbent on the unhappy person to speak up to resolve their unhappiness. If their partner doesn’t want to work through it, then there’s a problem. Generally blaming someone isn’t a great way to fix something. But it does depend on the specific situation as well
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/23 11:49 PM
0

Yeah, I guess it would be helpful to be more specific. I was thinking women with vaginismus or who need lube or have a low sex drive - issues that can be fixed with steps the woman herself would likely need to take (e.g., maybe she’s on anti depressants suppressing her libido and needs to adjust them) - are the equivalent of men who have issues sustaining an erection.
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/23 11:11 PM
1

If we’re talking about vaginismus, as has been discussed elsewhere in the thread, it’s a medical issue that typically requires some kind of intervention (seeking outside help). It’s recognized as very much a personal condition and seems implausible anyone would blame a partner for it. Or are you talking about a different issue?
/r/PurplePillDebate30/08/23 10:24 PM
1

I don’t think anyone has ever said painful intercourse is because of a lack of attraction. It’s because of a lack of care. And it would be shitty to make someone feel bad for struggling with something like that, but painful intercourse doesn’t equate to struggling to get an erection. It’s probably more accurate to equate a woman that has issues becoming aroused (maybe even vaginismus) and fails to go forward with intercourse at all with having a hard time getting an erection. Painful intercourse…

It’s only been one day. Universities can require peer review, if they run some sort of journal (the Harvard Business Review). This is not that. It’s not published in a scientific journal. Anyone referencing a “published” paper would understand that. You know why? Your source isn’t a meta analysis because this is your source, an unpublished literature review: How common is lesbian partner violence? About 17-45% of lesbians report having been the victim of a least one act of physical violence perpetrated by a lesbian partner (1,5,6,13). Types of physical abuse named by more than 10% of participants in one study included: Disrupting others eating or sleeping habits Pushing or shoving, driving recklessly to punish, and slapping, kicking, hitting, or biting …

Ohhh. So you did understand my point about the CDC data. You “disproving” it was posting a link to a “meta analysis,” I’m assuming. I’m glad you at least eventually understood what I was saying about the CDC data - which does not show lesbians perpetrate more domestic violence than other groups - and taking into account the gender of the perpetrator.
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/23 04:27 AM
1

Just for fun… Reporting percentages from other studies isn’t meta-analyzing them. You actually have to combine the raw data in some way. Here’s an example: https://www.frontiersin.org/articles/10.3389/fpsyg.2019.03087 Notice how it has a methods and results section?

And yes, I was reposting my original comment to explain my argument and then your own argument “disproving it” to you!! How dense can you be
/r/PurplePillDebate23/08/23 04:00 AM
1

Oh my god. You think a literature review is a meta analysis. No. You posted a domestic lesbian violence fact sheet. A meta analysis would be published in scientific journal and uses a statistical technique to combine quantitate data together. A literature review is not a meta analysis. Jesus. Look at Figure 1. They’ve divided the different sexual orientations into whether they had 1, 2, or 3 or more partners that perpetuated sexual violence other than rape. Now read the executive summary. If the executive summary was only referring to “1” male partner, the numbers should correspond to the numbers reported in Figure 1. We’d expect to see a much lower number for bisexual women. The study linked directly above doesn’t separate out by sexual orientation, so they’re just concluding across all groups of women (across all sexualities) that the majority of perpetrators are male. And you say fewer women are lesbians so raw frequencies aren’t helpful, which fair enough, but I’ve also linked to the CDC study which breaks down rates of violence by sexual orientation. Which again shows lesbians aren’t abusing other lesbians at the highest rates.

It does, but the point I’m trying to make is “drop sharply” doesn’t mean impossible. In fact, it’s still more likely, than less likely, a pregnancy will occur over a period of time (as some people will interpret it)
/r/PurplePillDebate22/08/23 12:57 AM

This is exactly the type of rhetoric I was thinking of. It’s a great way to encourage people to become unintentional parents
/r/PurplePillDebate22/08/23 12:20 AM

Yeah, reality would easily disprove this idea and I agree it’s likely a scare tactic. I’ve just read one too many posts/comments in the past week or so outright saying or alluding to the idea it’s very difficult, if not impossible, for a woman to become pregnant in her 30s. I’m starting to wonder if some people actually believe it
/r/PurplePillDebate21/08/23 11:27 PM

You would think so. I think it’s mostly people in their late teens/early 20s who genuinely believe this
/r/PurplePillDebate21/08/23 11:23 PM

I haven’t seen as much of that, at least not on PPD. I usually see discussion of male fertility brought up in reply to discussion of female fertility.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/08/23 11:16 PM

It definitely does start to decline. That’s true. I made this comment thinking of people who take it to extremes
/r/PurplePillDebate21/08/23 11:15 PM

There’s this rhetoric in redpill spaces that women can’t become pregnant in their 30s/it’s borderline impossible. Whatever the motivation, it’s dangerous. If you don’t worry about birth control because of this belief, you’re more likely to have a child than not.
/r/PurplePillDebate21/08/23 11:08 PM

It’s to support the child, not the women.
/r/PurplePillDebate20/08/23 06:06 AM

This will never happen. The government doesn’t care how you feel, it’s decided someone has to pay for that child. And the government will do anything in its power to avoid paying. As such, it will be who made child.

It’s funny you’re using the word “” around people, basically implying certain women are sub human. I don’t follow your argument. I never said anyone was “special,” but accurately pointed out that perceiving people as “cum rags” is indicative of a psychological problem. A special psychological problem, if you will. The language is intentionally dehumanizing and inflammatory. You could use the word “promiscuous,” but “cum rag” suggests a strong emotional (hate) response. No one would argue you need to date certain women. But seething with hatred (as your initial comment and reply indicate) indi…

/r/PurplePillDebate02/08/23 12:28 AM

At its most basic element, you’re questioning whether people care more about money than their children. That’s simply not true, unless the person has something deeply wrong with them. Putting children above everything else is perhaps the strongest biological directive

It’s a false equivalence. Consent can be revoked at any time during sex for men. That’s the correct equivalent to consent can be revoked at any time for women. Men and women are also both free to break up at any point, but labeling it as “consent” just seems like a silly way to throw disdain at the idea of someone stopping sex by revoking their consent

I wouldn’t try and dissuade you from going abroad. More power to you. But the motivation seems to stem from a deep insecurity that will inevitably manifest in other aspects of life, perhaps even the romantic area despite having a virgin wife. Most people can’t afford to have a stay at home parent. Should only the top 1% be allowed to reproduce? It’s also disingenuous to frame having children as solely a women’s issue. It ignores the majority of people that have children - couples who decided they want to have children

You conveniently ignored the rest of my argument. And it’s not a consequence for women alone. They’re not having the children alone. It’s a consequence for the fathers and children themselves. Women don’t have children in a vacuum. If we adopt your attitude, very few people would have children. We have to take steps to encourage people to have children - including not punishing them for taking time off to have said children and giving adequate parental leave for both parents - or we’ll have a cr…

Nobody should have children if they don’t want to. But we shouldn’t demonize and punish people who do want to have them. /r/PurplePillDebate16/07/23 01:59 AM

It’s diverging less over time, though. And promoting feminism doesn’t equate to more or less women working in certain fields. Most working peoples’ moms were of a generation corresponding to the gender stereotyped roles I mentioned. We aren’t enough generations out for the impact to completely go away. There may be some innate preference involved, but I wouldn’t chalk it up to laziness “women bad men good”

Are you saying salary is a good measure of performance? Performance doesn’t explain the gender pay gap, though. There’s so many factors that do. Child care is the big one. Actual performance evaluation data is a better measure of performance than salary. People can be amazing at their jobs but take a lot of time off and never catch up to their peers in terms of salary because of it

But you’re pointing to existing trends and explaining it with evo psych. My point is you didn’t first explain how men don’t care as much as women what others think before pointing to evo psych. You first need to provide evidence of a current trend.
