We can't do this is other people see this symbol and immediately associate us with cowardice. They'll call you a coward anyway for not wanting to be a meat shield for women. Might as well wear it as a badge of honor. The negative connotations of the feather are precisely what make it powerful IMO.

The biological purpose of man or woman is to reproduce. Anything else we say are a delusions of our culture and society. Obviously it's debatable, but philosphically I don't think that holds up. If you lived in a more open-minded (and preferably urban, just because there are a hell of a lot more people to choose from) area, I don't think you'd have much trouble finding a hookup. I'm incredibly sorry that happened to you and your friend. MeToo did have a very positive impact in encouraging a lot of women to come forward with their stories. And the high-profile rapists with multiple victims, whose tendencies were an "open secret", got the justice they deserved. However, "taking a leap of faith" and believing any accusation by default is incredibly stupid.

Plenty of memes talking about how it is ok for men to cry were poping up on /r/mensrights around that time. (Not that it isn't OK, but it needs to be understood that the social cost for crying is much greater for men than it is for women and the odds of receiving the help needed is much greater for women than men). The Guardian seems to have three different opinions It's a publication with many contributors, it does not have a consistent worldview. Alternatively you could try to reclaim feminism. Many feminists purport that feminism is no more than "political, economic, and social equality of the sexes" - if you take this at face value then every egalitarian is a feminist. Maybe taking away radical feminists' monopoly on the feminist label will help erode their monopoly on gender politics?
