Love it. My own was, "we should think about moving somewhere cheaper. Everything is so expensive." Ha! This from someone who refused to balance a budget with me, cried when I asked for her balance and grew up with a silver spoon in her mouth!

My divorce coach came up sexist as shit. When confronted her response was, "Oh no, I can't be, I have husband and a son." Really? Did you husband do EVERYTHING the first 5 years? Fired her.

Burn the cards / love letters and gifts. Photoshop her out of the wedding albums.

Pretty common when a spouse all of a sudden is subjected to bills they 1) never knew about or 2) never bothered to be aware of or 3) never bothered paying for.

Don't get married again. I won't.
/r/Divorce_Men19/10/24 03:03 PM

You should really talk to a lawyer about this. Unless documenting something really disgusting, judges tend to not give a shit.

Without her consent, yes. Just google: "One party consent state virginia"
/r/Divorce_Men19/10/24 02:56 PM

Virginia is a one-party consent state.
/r/Divorce_Men19/10/24 02:30 PM

Yeah, sorry to hear that. Are you in a one-party consent state? Maybe start recording some of the shittier confrontations. You know what's coming.

Couples therapy and personal therapy. Give it 6 months then make a decision

Don’t be an idiot. This isn’t 1930. You can live just fine without getting married.

Oh yes. Divorce, IRS, layoffs, cunt of an ex, young kids, and just pure madness. I need to quit asking how life can get worse.

Fucking heard. My soon to be ex was born with silver spoon up her ass and didn't do shit in life. In contrast, I'm solidly middle class and worked my ass off for what I have today.

You don’t need marriage to have kids. There is no upside for men.

She LEFT you. Do you think anything will change? Learn how to co-parent and start a new life. The woman you divorced is not the one you married.

Yeah, I got banned from r/TwoXXchromosomes for trying to make a point. Its just another fucking echo chamber of self-righteousness. edit: "You're a guest here" was my favorite response.

Childhood and relationships (or lack there of) are the two lessons I learned

Sure. Seeing my 70+ in-laws get in a shoving match next to me in the kitchen was great. Divorcing now.

Hates daddy Ignored daddy for 10 years Dropped out of school after a semester Ran away from family after dropping out. Sister hired a PI Toxic father No friends No hobbies Shit degree (journalism) Incapable of conflict resolution Incapable of budgeting beyond two weeks Incapable of parenting properly Wants mom and dad to divorce Disowned her dad a 2nd time Inherently lazy Starfish …. I can unfortunately go one. Divorce should be final in 3 months.
/r/Divorce_Men24/01/24 11:12 PM
3

Great question. I've asked my therapist(s) and doctor this and they have BOTH said, "Fuck that". I was hurt. Really hurt. By a shitty person with daddy issues who I laid my life out for. Fuck her. Its great to be liked, loved, and hugged again.

Those are marital assets. A prenup wouldn’t have covered them. I hope that makes you feel a little better.

My parents were kind nice people. I never saw them fight argue etc. my dad sacrificed his career to be our dad. My STBXWs parents were wealthy execs who outsourced ALL of their girls care. Guess who the better human is now. I didn’t understand these things when I asked for her hand. I, sadly, do now. I’ll never do it again but would never tell my boys not to get married. What if they find happiness like my parents?! What I will do is coach them to make the RIGHT decision.
/r/Divorce_Men13/09/23 03:56 PM
2

Agreed. I’m such a fool. edit: But as a very good friend said, "Love makes fools of us all"
/r/Divorce_Men13/09/23 01:10 AM

Walk Away Wife. I’ve read there is a lot on social media encouraging women to simply dip. The laws around this are from the 1920s. Men are fucked bc we can’t spend our 20s doing blow, being pretty, then find a successful sucker to pop out a baby with and take 50% in the subsequent divorce.
/r/Divorce_Men12/09/23 10:53 PM
5

I felt like that for months. Years even. The truth is she was never that person. That was your imagination. I realized the other day (stupidly) that she never NEVER once said, “I Love You”. That single realization gave me the ability and motivation to move on. You need to find your own my friend.
/r/Divorce_Men12/09/23 10:48 PM
15

Yup. You are. My STBXW was asking for a LOT of plastic surgery before she left. She makes MAD money too but for some reason can't budget or plan to use any of it. "You should pay for new boobs as you play with them the most." I'm glad I never agreed to pay. It was too obvious.
/r/Divorce_Men07/09/23 03:26 PM
5

Did your very intelligent formerly pretty silver spoon of an STBXW fuck off through her 20s doing drugs and fucking dudes while abandoning all opportunity her status brought her? Then marry a dumbass, double baby trap him and divorce after all the hard baby shit was over and subsequently take off with half of his hard worked, hard won money and advancement he made working his ass off over the last XX years?

Makes you want to believe in reincarnation... you come back as a pretty woman, bend over to enough men, and you live life on easy street. I'm done myself. I'm sorry you're going through this but understand that anywhere you go (in the US) you are now a member of the largest, most secret men's club ever. WE are ALL there for you. Hugs brother.

yeah, i agree. with age it changes. for me, it was something i could do with someone i loved. turns out, she never loved me. i do love paninis i guess.

Me too. In my mind, it sounds good. After it’s over I’m always like I should have just ate a bologna sandwich. lol. you must make a mean bologna sandwich!

I'm right there with you. One of my good divorced friends will simply say, "It'll get better." It WILL get better and you'll be a better father and person for it.

You are defining this year for me. Depression bc of a shit relationship. Divorce announced by mental health sociopath and subsequent lay off.

If its a no-fault state, go start a new relationship. If it isn't, don't. Talk to you lawyer.

Is Maryland a “no fault” state?
/r/Divorce_Men18/07/23 11:19 PM

You need to get a separation agreement in place and a therapist if you haven’t already. I’m in the thick of it myself and therapy has helped mounds. You both need to get away from each other. We delayed doing that bc of kids and it was horrible. My therapist summarized it nicely. The two worst things in life is 1) the loss of a child and 2). Living in limbo. You are living in limbo. It’s time to change that
/r/Divorce_Men22/05/23 07:16 PM

Is your state a no fault state? Time to lawyer up and find out.
/r/Divorce_Men18/05/23 01:41 PM

my man. mad props to you for 1) that metaphor and 2) for being here. if i can offer any advice; buy your house before getting married, prenup and get a side piece.
/r/Divorce_Men11/05/23 02:11 PM

Look at the stages of grief my man. Just getting past that myself. 80% of divorces are started by women. 90% if she had a college degree. So glad we die in wars for this shit.
/r/Divorce_Men06/05/23 11:50 PM
13

Yup. Most women on there are chasing dick post divorce at that age. Try Hinge if you’d rather not date a barista.

can you break this down a bit? ty ty.

and i won't be there to pick up the slack. i think that's what bothers me the most about all of this. i could give fuck all wanted to stay with her. its about the kids and here failings and laziness trickling down to them.

She thinks she settled for you? Does she think her value on the dating market has gone up or down? The wall is waiting for her, and the wall is undefeated for thirty something single mothers. She's 40+. i think she'll just be comfortable doing fuck all. inherently lazy. very charming though. doing a good job of destroying my reputation though. need to figure that out.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:48 PM

It has been... my mental health has taken a dive this year. I remember thinking last year, 'wow, that sucked' how could next year get worse? And here I am. Mine has never made a car payment amongst many other adult things...
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:45 PM
2

Mine refused to get a hobby. She still doesn't have one and would make me feel guilty for pursuing my own. I was supposed to humor and entertain her all the time. No friends. Incapable of being a friend. Ugh.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:44 PM
2

I'm sorry man. Vicious. Mine called me a horrible father (major daddy issues)... twice. That hurt the most. There isn't a single person who knows me and the kids that would agree.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:42 PM
3

Good point. I'm trying to learn to let go. Therapy and all that.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:29 PM
1

Yeah... thanks. Just angry and frustrated. How could someone NOT want to be a partner for 10 years.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:28 PM
2

Exactly. A born-again adult. I worked my ass off to get here and relax, enjoy life. She's on her first real career. I'll never get an apology b/c from perspective she's done nothing wrong.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:27 PM
1

She's already a lazy parent. Just not for 2023. It boggles the mind.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:26 PM
1

Ah! Interesting. I worry about this a lot b/c she'll have the kids 50% of the time.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:26 PM
2

That makes my soul smile a bit. Thank you. I suspect you're right.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 10:25 PM
2

Yeah, not wasted... its just there is no do-over. None.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 02:59 PM
4

Sorta like that. She's forcing herself to be a parent. 10 years I tried to be a good partner only getting clapback and dismissed.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 02:58 PM
8

There is a LOT of projection, that's for sure. 10 years I've wasted trying to be the nice guy.
/r/Divorce_Men12/04/23 01:49 PM
1

Same man. We did couples therapy and I asked her to be nice to me for a week. 2 days in, I broke. I realized she hadn't even bothered to be nice to me for years after 2 days of her being nice. I was a heart breaking realization. Miserable person IN person, but charming as fuck in public. My friends didn't get it for years. They do now.
/r/Divorce_Men08/03/23 06:46 AM
1

The "crocodile tears" is such bullshit. Any time I'd try to talk finances, she'd pull out the tears. I've paid for 80% of shit over the past 10 years not including ALL trips, debt, etc. I don't understand why we give women a golden ticket for their behavior. If I behaved like she has in public, with me, or at work I'd be kicked to the curb immediately.
/r/Divorce_Men08/03/23 06:44 AM
1

Yup. 1920s bullshit.
/r/Divorce_Men08/03/23 06:40 AM
2

Thanks OP. I joke with my friends that if I had a vagina and were pretty, I'd rule the world. Its ridiculous that women can get away with this behavior and then complain about salary differences. She checked of the relationship years ago while I continued to work on it. So many red flags I ignored b/c I wanted to have a family. It honestly guts me to this day. Never again.

I feel like there should be a social movement to discourage marriage #mentoo I am a fixer and did the same thing with my soon ex wife. She spent her 20s drugging and sexing only to have me pay to rebuild her. Now she’s leaving and gives zero fucks
/r/Divorce_Men05/03/23 10:53 PM
1

Damn. Take the deal man. A judge probably won't force 50/50 if you get a lawyer to help you present it. Work on yourself. Today. helloalma.com, betterhelp.com, modernhealth, etc. I'm seeing 2 therapists myself right now. Wife is taking a similar stance but she has been a horrible partner and non-existent friend for years. She wants 50/50 custody though. Take the deal.
/r/Divorce_Men25/01/23 04:15 PM
15

Well that sucks. You win.
/r/Divorce_Men23/07/22 12:35 PM
12

My Man. Why are you torturing yourself? Just close it out, move on and forget this part of your life.
/r/Divorce_Men14/05/22 05:03 PM
You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
