Because your brain needs better food. They're fine here and there, but really, it's just as a bad as reading nothing but trashy romances. I suggested the authors I did because I thought you'd find them appealing. David Quamman is good too. But, I read a lot of fantasy and literature and nonfiction if that's your cup of tea and want recommendations.

TRP is too mean sometimes. Media does present some retarded as notions about relationships. Like, watch a rom com. They're stupid. It's two assholes who deserve each other.

Dude. GET OFF THE INTERNET. GO GET A CUP OF COFFEE AND READ SOMETHING THAT ISN'T A SELF HELP BOOK. Seriously. Want some STEM topics? Check out Brian Greene and Charles Seife. Both a delight. I'm not trying to be a dick. You've got a life to live. TRP can be part of it, but it can't be it in it's entirity.

Missed the edit. Yeah, I don't think TRP really helped you there. But friendships with exes don't work out for everyone. Sorry, I misread your summary of the relationship (thought she wasn't your ex when the accusations started). Realistically, you were both young. People learn a lot from those relationships and go on to have better ones. Get your shit together, and I'm sure you can have one. But it's not going to work if the entire time you're waiting for her to fuck you over.

I am a chronic case and idk whether I just enjoy the victim complex or enabling my addiction or some shit Or getting better is hard. And you have to keep working even when it doesn't feel like it's helping. Also, we're still kind of fumbling in the dark when it comes to this shit. Generally, I try to limit self pity parties to a day or two (they do happen) before getting back up and trying some more.

I think people who don't vaccinate their kids are assholes who kill babies. I don't spend all day reading about it and getting worked up. Yes, take a break. Read something fun. Maybe Decoding the Universe by Charles Seife. Or The Wanting Seed or Difficult Loves. And your relationship with your father isn't going to be fixed in one appointment. It's going to take time. Why is your mom coming? Honestly, given what you've said, that doesn't sound terribly helpful to me. Are you going to be able to …

I'm not saying to give up TRP, but maybe take a break? It seems like it's making your life more complicated, and it's supposed to make it better. Talk to your therapist about how to handle things with your dad so you being offensive doesn't mean he invades your privacy. If you have to, drag him into therapy with and have the therapist explain to him why this is a bad idea. Also, understand, if you start doing some of the things he wants (like not reading all night) he'll probably give you more s…

Reading this, you have two paths: The easy one where you spend your life on the internet. You don't get a job. You live with your dad. When shit goes pear shaped, you whinge on the internet. The hard one where you do the shit you know you need to do and get the fuck out of your parent's house and find some manner of happiness. If you lost your job and your girlfriend and your hard won success with your eating disorder after getting off your meds, maybe you should think about getting back on them…

I thought you were going to mention that French movie where a woman hires a prostitute to screw her while she's menstruating. At one point she makes him tampon tea. You know it's a good movie because the commentary about the film is almost as long as the film. The director also hired a vagina double because the original actress wasn't hairy enough. There's also a very meaningful scene featuring a rake.

That's like a chemistry experiment. Actually more like the clean up of chemistry experiment, where you dispose of all the waste in the properly labeled bottles and wash out the test tubes (remember, bubbles are for you!). Maybe if you approached this cup thing more rationally and less emotionally you'd be able to wrap your head around what we're all telling you: it's not any more gross or disgusting than other things you use for your period. In fact, many find it less. Hell, reading all this, I …

Do you have problems with drinking out of cups? For the record, removal is generally done over the toilet, so, not a problem if it does spill.
/r/PurplePillDebate19/08/15 03:29 AM

Why no risk? If you leave the cup in too long how would it be different from a tampon? Because there's no medium for the bacteria to grow on, unlike that nice fluffy surface the cotton provides. Note: the greater the absorbancy of the tampon, the greater risk of TSS. Read The Coming Plague for more details. Also, I'm going to assume you're familiar with the general shape of a vagina. A cup is kind of like a hat on the cervix, a bit like a diaphragm. It's not like a cup on a table. It can't be kn…

We as society balk at the notion that pretty women can have sinister, selfish, or maladjusted motives and attitudes. Aren't you describing the queen in Snow White right now? A pretty woman who is sinister, selfish, and maladjusted? And there's Angelica from Rugrats. That was a kids' show, and she was a total bitch. In fact, it's kind of a stereotype that hot women are bitches, and it's not an RP stereotype either. Femme fatale, Messalina, Jezebel--all labels for women that imply both ill-intent …

I'm guessing it's two things acting together to create this ridiculous behavior. 1) Some people just like fucking with other people. The fact that they're able to get a rise out of others, like you, probably just encourages the behavior. 2) They have a stereotype that being creative also means being a destructive asshole. And age has nothing to do with maturity. I've seen both men and women expressing very immature ideas. Like, I wouldn't be surprised at all if these men have no idea that their …

That is an awful bastardization of that quote. Tsk tsk. Look, I don't have a problem with people saying TRP works for me, it's just when they act like TRP is the truth for everyone that I have issues. But to assume that the "Red Pill" model of human sexual dynamics only consists of being fascinated by bellybutton lint indicates are fundamental ignorance of what that model actually is. But I never said that's what I believed that's what's TRP's dynamics consists of (at the very least it's an aggregate of lint if we want to abuse the analogy). And yes, there does happen to be an immense amount of research that supports the red pill's claims and methods. The red pill ITSELF does not claim to be scientific, however. To me, this is a bit like a dude in a jacket with gold braid and epaulets saying "But I don't claim to be affiliated with the military." Okay--then ditch the jacket. While not everyone makes that claim, you use language associated with science and act mystified when it backfires. Don't want to claim to be scientific? Cool. D…

It's nice you like to stare at your belly button, but I'm not really sure how it's relevant. That said, no one "quite knowledgeable" about science is eager to shove it on a pedestal like TRP is. Fuck, I used to do science, and I recognize there's a shit ton of stuff I don't know. In a world where people (generally babies) are literally dying of scientific illiteracy, we don't need any more of it. It's not like TRP is the first time I've seen misogyny (or misandry for that matter). It is the first time I've seen it paired with the notion that it is scientifically correct. Personally, I wish you'd shut up about science. I mean, listening to most of you talk, it's clear the only wet lab you've encountered was a labrador retriever after a bath. And we have enough problems with scientific illiteracy in the US (anti-vaccers, climate change deniers). So, maybe this high status man was most concerned with who would make a good partner/helpmeet for him and mother to his children, and not who got his dick the hardest. I mean, if what RP says is true, aren't most the hot women spoiled by a society full of milquetoast beta bootlickers? What do you think is the reason that the middle class households, as you say, have turned from the "ideal"? Money. With most middle class families both parents are working. People spend a lot of time commuting anymore as well. Basically, they want to spend time with their children, but have to work instead. Hypothetically speaking: What if both debaters know how play PubMed? And, even though you can generally only play with abstracts, they both start digging around. First, this raises the question for me about whether or not there's an pro-female / anti-male bias going on. For example, if people are more likely to unfairly judge men as less intelligent, less successful, and less sexually skilled, then it's a bias. If you read the paper posted, there does seem to be some truth to the notion that casual sex is less physically satisfying for women than men. Basically, men spent less time and effort getting women off for casual sex, versus in an LTR. So, are wo…

Actually, the abstract will give you the best summary of a paper. That's the purpose of the abstract. You really shouldn't just blindly trust what someone with an obvious agenda is telling you. You should check it out for yourself--confirm that what they're saying is true and it's unbiased. As far as the paper, it's a review paper, so it's not like there's any dense methodology to slog through. Here's the thing, by assuming women will reject you because you're ugly, you're judging them before they even open their mouths, before they even react to you. You assume your looks are the problem, but what if the actual problem is the fact that you're approaching them with the attitude of "I'm going to get rejected." It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy. Look, if one can't prove TRP to be pseudoscience because the claim is "unfalsifiable", then one cannot prove it to not be pseudoscience. Either TRP is falsifiable, in which case one can assess whether or not it's true, whether or not it's pseudoscience, or it isn't, in which case it's unfalsifiable.

Do you have to be attracted to your partner? Yes. Does your partner need to look like Brad Pitt for you to be attracted to them? No. And frankly, when you like someone's personality, you'll probably like their looks more. If TRP is unfalsifiable, that means it's outside of the purview of science, since science only deals with things that are falsifiable, and not questions like "What's the meaning of life?" and "Does god exist?" Given that you go on to suggest a hypothetical scientist would be open to trying RP methods, I don't know if "unfalsifiable" is the word you really want there. Honestly, I don't have any beef with traditional marriages (in fact, mine's fairly traditional looking). NSN is a good concept (your sex life is important) with poor wording. Like, it's just waiting to be taken out of context. The thing I hate most about TRP is the fact they drag science into it. Science gets politicized enough without being dragged into gender wars. But against that backdrop, as psychologist David Lisak discovered, lurk undetected predators. Lisak's 2002 groundbreaking study of more than 1,800 college men found that roughly nine out of 10 rapes are committed by serial offenders, who are responsible for an astonishing average of six rapes each. None of the offenders in Lisak's study had ever been reported. Because saying I don't discuss my personal sex-life because my husband wouldn't like it is somehow judging her? I don't know how her husband/fiance/boyfriend feels about it. I think we're using different words to describe the same thing. I mean, stagnation isn't really a happy place to me. I wouldn't think someone who isn't seeking to improve themselves and help those around them would really be a happy person. I mean, I could be wrong. I know people are content to stay in their little holes. But, as I said, it's hard for me to picture them as being actually happy.

Hey, if you want someone to lie to you and say, "The Bourbon Restoration totally worked."; "In another twenty years, middleclass men will go back to making enough money to support their families on a single income."; "Gay marriage will soon be made illegal throughout the US."* then look elsewhere. I'm not going to blow smoke up your ass about the reality of things. Liberals fucking win. I don't know if the leftists will win. But liberals? Well, don't read history. I mean, if you do, you'll realize that over time society has become more liberal and will continue to do so. A hundred years ago, everyone assumed women couldn't vote. Now, everyone assumes they can. We've done away with slavery and the notion that skin-pigment renders someone inferior. Hell, waaaaaaay back in the day, everyone assumed God gave the king the right to rule everyone. Now, we barely have kings! People openly don't believe in god. And not just rich people, w…

I can't imagine what it would be like to meet a woman who takes personal responsibility for their own happiness. Let's be honest. You don't really want a woman who's happy with herself. I mean, my god, she might not give a flying fuck about what she looks like. She might be a little chubby, have short hair, and prefer reading to cooking. You want a woman who is made happy by the things RP says makes women happy (being feminine and attractive, playing first-mate to her captain, being a domestic g…

Attraction has a mental and emotional components. If you feel your spouse doesn't appreciate you, thinks of you only in terms of "what can he/she do for me", and doesn't do his/her fair share around the house, are you going to be attracted to him/her? Would it matter if he/she was a sexy beast? I mean, when RPers talk about being with someone in a long term relationship, they're not only looking for a woman who meets their physical requirements, but also has certain personality characteristics.
/r/PurplePillDebate10/08/14 02:44 PM

Yeah, women need to be talked to about this, possibly more than men, because the assumption is: All men like all sexual attention. That's not true. Like you said, you're just working. It probably bothers me more than your average person because I'm introverted. If you read the comments in the article, there was one guy who followed a girl home, which I think a lot of people would interpret as threatening, and probably worth making a big deal of.

Let's say I am. That doesn't change that he's a member of cult, his divorce was carried out like an operation from Mission Impossible, I don't like being talked to like that, and I have a relationship with a man who doesn't talk to me like that. So, women with high partner counts are gross because they have STIs. According to you, they're getting these STIs from alpha males, not betas. Am I getting this wrong? Or are women with STIs okay as long as they have a low partner count? Because that seems self-loathing, to think a woman who you had sex with is gross because she had sex with you. I mean, if she's gross, aren't you gross for having sex with her?

Your body isn't static. Take a picture of someone at 14 and compare to a picture of them at 20, and they'll look different. Lemme spoon feed this to you, like the plot of a bad fantasy novel. While there's unlikely to ever be any open acknowledgement that women aren't attracted to men with a high partner count on TRP, there seems to be some tacit acknowledgment of this fact. When a woman asks a question relating to an RPers sexual history (ex: Are you a player, I bet you say that to all the girls, I bet you go home with a different girl every night), they dissemble, I mean, "pass the shit test". I think you're trying…
/r/PurplePillDebate04/08/14 07:17 PM

Is that why TRP includes any question a woman poses that feels out issues like partner count (Are you a player?) as a shit test, which we know must not be answered with honesty? Because, you know, playing Pokemon with STDs just makes everything so much more exciting. Or are you just trying to reframe things so you don't have to change your opinion and you get to keep playing lip-service to the notion that you're open minded?

If the primary thing you want from women is sex, then getting married is not a great idea. Does that clarify it?
/r/PurplePillDebate26/07/14 01:06 AM

I'm surprised you're relying on polls of what women say they want, as opposed to looking at what women actually do. Doesn't TRP maintain that there's a difference between the two? That women say they want a "nice guy" by which they mean "ravished by an alpha"? If most British men are shorter than 6', does that mean British women are fighting over the 6' guys? Can they even gage that a guy is 2" shorter than their ideal?

It's a piss poor article. Who knows what the actual study says. I'm sure that quote, in context, would be a lot more informative. They just needed something juicy. The state of scientific reporting (at least as it's regurgitated for the general public) is deplorable though.

First, you're assuming the only reason a man wants to interact with a woman is to stick his dick in her. If that's the case, then no, marriage probably isn't the best idea. The quote you picked is someone looking for a possible explanation. It's not the explanation. Perhaps way back in the day women benefited from switching partners every four years. Maybe after four years it was a good idea to start cheating on your partner, making the paternity of any child uncertain, and securing the protecti…

I hope they also realize how dangerous this attitude is. Framing AIDS as a homosexual crisis and not a heterosexual one is just ignorance, and ignorance and disease are great friends. And the thing is--disease doesn't really need any friends. It gets along just fine on its own. AIDS is a particularly pernicious disease, due to its long practically symptom free period of incubation. It's a large part of what allowed it to become the crisis it is among gay men.

This contradicts what's being said in the article (not speech) you cited: While it’s true that about half of all the people who ever lived were men, the typical male was much more likely than the typical woman to die without reproducing. Citing recent DNA research, Dr. Baumeister explained that today’s human population is descended from twice as many women as men. The way RP talks about women (incapable to love, lacking honor, logic, always looking for the next best thing, etc.) makes them sound like awful people. Now, if RPers are interacting with these awful women, and you, as a non-RPer, have encountered this type of woman, but also a lot of woman who don't fit these characteristics, what would your conclusion be? That RP techniques attracts awful women is one con…

Yeah, I actually knew that was going to happen (the removal). Her association of TRP with a mass-murderer didn't strike you as, perhaps, extreme? Maybe even crazy... I think it takes more than a misguided ideology to commit a crime like that.

The general idea that trp is ruining young relationships out of jealousy -- I don't think what she's saying is that crazy. The notion of a group of people acting in concord because of collective jealousy is crazy to me. While people do experience jealousy, and while it may motivate an individual, I have a hard time thinking it's a strong enough emotion to inspire a movement like TRP.

Look, it's not okay to say this shit and make these types of generalizations about aging women--so it's not okay to say these things about men as well. At first I was like: definitely satire. The only thing that's tripping me up is the link to "The Man Academy" which does not look like satire, at least what I can tell. And in all honestly, if you toned down the language, they could be expressing RPW views. Things like always being sexually available, keeping your criticism/complaints to yourself unless asked, cooking, cleaing, etc. Also, the picture of the woman with the black eye was mentioned--I don't think RP or RPW condones DV.

Out of curiosity, did you look at the source? Their main point is: looking at the raw number of incidents of domestic violence without the context of the severity doesn't paint an accurate picture. When you add context to the numbers, it becomes clear the women are affected more severely and need more funding. The quote (listed as part of their "reasoning") is actually referring to a hypothetical situation where women's shelters are having to turn more women away while the men's shelters remain …

No, you're arguing that feminists are actively harming men and ignoring my point that a simple ratio often doesn't reflect the complexity of the situation. I'm honestly skeptical about any claims you make in regards to the actions of a feminist. For instance, they weren't requesting a methodology change here at all, just that more of the collected data be included in the report. You're accusing them of "manipulating statistics" to prevent funding from going to men, when in reality it makes no se…

If you just took: amount women make divided by amount men make, then yeah, it probably works around to around that. But once you start normalizing for things like experience, take into consideration starting wage (which again, I think there's a study showing women are less aggressive about negotiating such things), the difference starts to disappear, because, and I quote, "Lies, damn lies, and statistics." This is all really neither here nor there. I've basically repeated my assertions above, to…

Regardless, we both know they're grasping at straws here because men might get equal consideration. No--they're saying women are more severely affected by DV and therefore need more resources, not that men don't need any. Like, looking at the Wiki article on DV (hetero only), they're more than three times as likely to be killed by a their partner. Note, this does not mean men aren't murdered by their partners, and don't need help. Look, do you accept the statistic women make $0.70 per $1.00 ever…

That is some impressive cherry picking there. Here's the statement in context, emphasis mine: Some men experience domestic violence, and they need support. However many more women experience patterns of abusive behaviour, and find it much harder to leave when they do. Publishing statistics on domestic violence which don’t detail the frequency, severity and gender differences is irresponsible, and contributes to a situation where some services have to turn women away for lack of funding, while be…

BP is literally everyone who isn't RP, right? So, aren't all the scientists, the ones studying gender differences (I think there's a study showing men and women use different parts of their brains to do the same things), by definition BP? If that's the case, then isn't RP just extrapolating on BP data, like redefining the word "hypergamy"? And honestly, science is still working on 1 and 2. In your defense, titles are hard. They have to be alluring and informative. Oftentimes (and I speak as someone who writes) you need a random jag-off to come and point out the obvious. What are you talking about? I love being accusing of being a narrow-minded feminist because I'm trying to explain to a layman that science isn't fucking magic. When I first started rejecting feminism, I tried to find feminists that approached their beliefs with skepticism or scientific rigor. I couldn't find any. Part of the problem was getting banned or ostracized whenever I expressed doubt so my search wasn't as thorough as it should have been. I took feminist censorship as stronger evidence than I should have. I doubt your bias was the only one in play. Gender politics turn ugly quickly, and you're adding the anonymity of the internet. The group you…

They don't use logic. Honestly, this is how I think of RPers. When presented with contradictory evidence, they rationalize why their viewpoint is still correct. They consider anecdotal evidence and stereotypes to be the most relevant to their experience, and when you point out they've built their ideology on sand, again they shift. They might denigrate science as being run by feminists, or maybe they Google up a few articles that are either irrelevant or poorly sourced. Either way, they seem mor…

The world works when either everyone distrusts each other and watches out for themselves, or everyone trusts each other and is 100% honest. Conservatives would say the latter is impossible. Progressives would ask conservatives to look at the progress we've already made towards a world built on trust. This makes me think of Pelphase/Interphase/Gusphase from Burgess's The Wanting Seed. My favorite dystopian novel, if you need a book.

Women exhibit in-group bias. Men actually exhibit out-group bias. Do you have any links to studies about this? Not trying to be a wench, I just have a general policy of not taking people's word for it. Children have the same socioeconomic status as their family. Depending on the family's culture, boys and girls may be treated differently (like some super conservative Christians may raise their daughters to be homemakers, and their sons to be breadwinners). You're using the term hypergamy correct…

First, thanks for the long interesting reply! Women love other women more than men. Relevant comment. I actually tend to pay attention to his thoughts/ideas as he's well-spoken, and probably more of a moderate in the community. I actually meant "woman can't love men the way men love women." I think it's kind of asinine to divide people by gender, when there are so many other things which we know produce differences, like culture or socioeconomic status. I mean, when looking for gender difference…

Also, I've been thinking about it. I think it's a very smart move to use a thesis paper as a source. While it isn't peer reviewed, it is available for free, unlike so much research. There's only so much you can learn from an abstract. Since I give you shit for awful sources, seems only fair for kudos for a good one (even if I don't agree with your argument).

It might be helpful to cite the study you're talking about, and note that in this case the scientists are using the term "mature" differently than layman. In this case, they're not referring to what we consider maturity (self-sufficiency, etc.) but rather physiological changes (specifically, a process of pruning memories in the brain). Also, I wouldn't make any bold declarations about women being more emotionally intelligent than men. There are studies listed that show no difference, or specific…

Let's rehash. In support of RP ideology you post a woman's thesis dealing with people's perception of low BS males. There are a couple of things she's assuming here: Misogyny is real. Misogyny is bad for women (and not natural or useful). She talks about BS and HS being used as a "carrot and stick" in order to keep women in traditional gender roles. She's interested in perceptions of BS because she seems concerned that egalitarian men are being discriminated against (in RP speak--betas). In fact…

My main point was less about misogyny and more about OP's interpretations having no support, hence my equally unvalidated musing. Not that what you said isn't interesting. In my viewpoint, I see a lot of dovetailing with misogyny/misandry. Where one sex is privileged, the other sex is at a disadvantage. A great example is the stereotypes about child-rearing, where men are undervalued and women are overvalued. I wouldn't equate all MRAs as being misogynists (just like I wouldn't assume all femini…

It's illogical that high BS would be favorably assessed as that widely diverts from the theoretical feminist ideal. From the paper: Chivalry is a code of conduct that encompasses the traditional ways that men have valued women in Western culture. Specifically, chivalry instructs men to behave courteously and give preferential treatment to women. Feminists have critiqued chivalry as a problematic tradition that contributes to maintaining patriarchal power over women. They have thus called upon me…

What other explanation is there? Can you even make a supposition of your own? Sure--the study could have been done better (after all, she's getting her master's, she's not a PI yet) and once Ms. Yeung is running her own research, she'll have refined her methods so that partial difference doesn't exist any longer. For evidence I cite the 10,000 hour rule. Or maybe the egalitarian males were seen as SJWs and annoying (kind of like people think vegans are). How is proposing the simplest explanation…

So, the support for your position is the articles you've read. Random women whinging on the internets doesn't really constitute solid support. There's another, unknown factor effecting the negative evaluations (at least according to the original paper you cited).

People’s specific reasons for divorcing varied with gender, social class, and life course variables. Former husbands and wives were more likely to blame their ex-spouses than themselves for the prob…

If you check out Table Three of this study you'll see they have reasons for divorce broken down by gender. Top reason for women at 25% is infidelity. Second for women, and top for men, is incompatibility at 19%. This is actually a nice meta-study, and it's free, if you want to get an idea about a good study/what actual research looks like. Yes, you're going to see some differences. Which of those are biological and cultural are going to be impossible to tease out. That said, just because men and women are different, doesn't mean one sex is handicapped. I mentioned below, men have less color receptors (whether they have less variety or simply less quantity I'm not sure) which mean they don't have the same color range for red as women do. Yet they're often doing jobs where color does matter (for warning signs, wires, etc.). The brai…

Well, men are much more likely to be colorblind than women. And men tend to go bald, whereas women get gray hair. That's because the cells that see color (cones) are on the X chromosome. Women tend to see more shades of red as well. And, it's been a while, so this may not be correct, but men start to bald with one copy of a gene, whereas women need two to have thinning hair (women do go bald, they're just less likely to do so).

Now this--this is a nicely sourced article, and a nice blog. Reading it makes me think of the time the Republicans in the US were complaining about scientists genotyping bears. You don't know what sample bias might be going on, and that's something science spends a lot of time trying to mitigate, but, looking at median sex partners, the difference between the group is only five (women have three, men have…

I'm more of a relationship person and even I doubt that I will get married unless there's some alimony reform in my state. Just going by statistics, if I was a woman my outlook on it might be different. Do you think the only reason women get married is the opportunity to extract wealth at some later point? I didn't marry my husband because of money, but because I care about him and I want to stand by his side and help him when I can and when I can't to be supportive of him. I'm genuinely puzzled…

Here's the thing, any of my answers would be so nebulous as to not likely need any sources. Ex: There are physiological differences between the sexes, but science is still working on what the psychological differences are, and if there are discrepancies, whether the difference is innate or learned. All I need to do to support that statement is find a few papers that don't agree with each other about differences in IQ (showing that it's being studied but answers have not been concluded), and some…

Do you like to eat the same meal every day? It's amazing--when your concept of sex extends beyond sticking a penis in a vagina--you can find all manner of things to eat. All joking aside, I really don't buy that there can't be monogamy and hot sex, like men are giving up so much settling down with one woman. There's enough monogamy going around for there to be RPW.

If I had to give my heart to a theory, it would be Information Theory. Oh hell, who am I kidding? I already have! I love the book Decoding the Universe! Jumping genes made sense to me after that--it was the information trying to survive. In fact, the survival of information could be the driving force behind evolution. That said, I don't really expect mainstream science/the public to stand behind me on that particular thought experiment. It is an interesting idea though.

I like how you ignore part the latter part of my comment and demand statistical evidence from me while providing none yourself. Kudos. How about this, I'll play fetch if you play fetch first. Honestly, it's not the people out and out dispute the findings of evolutionary psychology, as much as they don't believe it's a solid enough foundation to support all the dogma TRP has built on it. It certainly is a branch of science, and interesting one, but that doesn't mean there isn't more research to be done, that we won't overturn some of it's findings in the future. It's like reading a book about String Theory and being like, "Welp, that's it--String Theory is The theory."

It doesn't imply right either. Ex. You're waiting for the bus and it's not coming. You decide to use the trick that works every time: You light a cigarette. Just because it "works" doesn't mean lighting a cigarette summons the bus. I'm not really sure what you're arguing. The crux of what I said was people don't have to tolerate bigots. For instance--the Phelps group can protest military funerals, but people have the right to find their behavior disgusting and stand in front of them with white sheets so the grieving families don't have to deal with their bullshit. There are good and bad aspects to the term "soft science". But, I mean, not shit some of it's methods are less rigorous. It's called an IRB. You can't experiment on humans like you can on rodents. A lot of times it seems like with the social sciences they're stuck with the very difficult task of trying to figure out how/what happened after the fact, and then designing an experiment that tests this hypothesis while dodging the plethora of human biases.

And chick flicks are the last place you should be looking for a realistic portrayal of relationships as (surprise!) their goal is not to promote gender understanding/equality, but to make money, generally using a tired cliched script. For me, the term "involuntary celibacy" or "incel" implies a lot of sexual entitlement. These men feel the world has failed them because they've yet to get laid. Remember when you asked me what I did? From one of the referenced articles (Economist): Companies such as Illumina and Affymetrix produced DNA chips that allowed researchers to test up to 1m genetic variants for their statistical association with specific traits. I did this at my last job (specifically Illumina, though we had an Affy setup too--that was an older piece of equipment), along with a bit of methylation work. We had next generation sequencers too.

I'm not sure how it relates to TRP. At most it seems to imply an adversarial mating strategy between some people (the exploitable women and the men who want to take advantage of them). The scientists themselves cautioned this was done using photos--more studies need to be done with better stimulus.

Because he's saying things like this: Biochemical research points to a natural four-year sexual cycle for the human female. This apparently allows enough time after childbirth for the average mother in a state of savagery to regain her ability to survive without male provisioning. In the absence of any system of marriage, a woman’s natural tendency is to “liberate” herself from her mate after that point. When her hormones prompt her to reproduce again, she simply takes a new mate. Langley cites …

So, what you're telling me, is that contrary to TRP's claims that science is controlled by the PC brigade/feminists, there are in fact scientists out there doing controversial research, supported by institutions? I'm going to remember him the next time I hear something about science shutting down research about race/gender that isn't PC. I agree with caution_scienceishot. Lack of objection isn't consent. What you've portrayed in your scenario is lack of verbal consent (it's not really clear if other consent was given as she just went for it), and then at one point you explicitly asked the girl to stop and she didn't. If a girl sticks your hand down her pants, then that's consent from her. And likewise, if you withdraw your hand, that's you saying no and she should respect that.

And I like how you ignore most of what I say. My point was: You should gain consent for each sex act. Consent can be withdraw at anytime. You said: It's only sexual assault under the prudish definitions that people like you attempt to establish. What specifically did you mean then? My point was when you asked her to stop, she should have stopped. Even better, she should have asked you whether you wanted to have sex with her in the first place. Maybe I'm wrong. Receiving oral sex is not the same thing as consenting to sex. I like how you're painting the desire for consent as prudish, when the last time I checked, the BDSM community is way into consent. Like, they sit down and talk about shit first. They have special words to indicate the withdrawal of consent. But, let's say your scenario played out a little differently. Let's say, you didn't pull out in time, and you got her pregnant. Since you "consented" to sex (despite requesting she stop so you co…

This strikes me as a non-answer. Does Sun Tzu advocate avoiding questions? I don't think he does. The biggest takeaway I had from the book is you need to know which battles you're likely to win or lose, and to act accordingly. Also, spies are really important (as information is really important). I spent about 30 seconds finding the articles. So, you're not so good at researching. I used to spend a lot of time on Pubmed. Here's some tips: find a good review article, note interesting sources, and follow up on them. The biggest problems you'll run into are paywalls, but that's okay, because the abstract is free! There's research showing boys prefer to read stories about boys (guysread.com probably has it somewhere) whereas girls will read books about boys or girls. That may have something to do with it--men won't see a movie about a woman, but women will watch a movie about a man. I'm actually reading a book about screen plays right now, and one thing the author emphasizes is how utterly unadventurous Hollywood is when it comes to movies. I think the visual media is an aspect of it, which lends to the tone of the piece. If you read the rest of my comment, I also point out that at no point is the master mentioned to be friends with women. Redpillschool is not discrediting "evidence", but saying that your evidence is not evidence at all I hope you do get time to revisit this, because this statement is confusing to me. It seems like RPS is stating his anecdotal evidence and that of evolutionary psychology, and that it works. Why would someone's experience of this not working (also anecdotal) be invalid? If you look at the legal system, there's a huge difference between intending to murder someone vs. accidentally killing them. The key for the man is to adopt a posture of blase emotional distance alternated with loving tenderness. The whole point of it is to send mixed messages so she's unsure about your relationship. On its defense, this particular strategy's purpose is to keep the mate (woman) that a man does not want to lose i.e. loves her whereas he could simply not bother and waste time with this tactic- outright dump her and move on. False rape accusations have always struck me as pretty "man bites dog". For the most part, rapes aren't reported, and rapists don't go to jail. I think this "men are from mars, women are from venus" bullshit does more to perpetuate rape than a man's sex drive. This notion that women are unable to communicate what they really want, that the genders are so disparate that there can't be any honest exchange between them, is ridiculous. Yeah, I don't get that about the RP either. They're very concerned with false rape accusations, but at the same time they want to have sex with a lot of random women, and have sex right away. If you're that concerned about it, wouldn't it be easier to get to know the woman first? Or maybe even have an LTR with someone you trust? CSM--Christian Science Monitor. Should I assume that you did not bother to look at any sources I provided? How are we supposed to have a discussion if you won't deign to consider my points? Are you just assuming that my documents support what I'm saying they do? It's also a good example of what I would consider to be a good source (unbiased, lists sources). Also, if The Star article you cited is correct, this registry no longer exists, and people are currently fighting to get it back. For that m…

So, I skimmed a few others, but read the first one in its entirety. These all concern a registry. Do you have any information about discussions of concealed weapons permit? Also, this is the first line from The Globe and Mail article: A coalition of women's groups, police chiefs and emergency room staff in Nova Scotia is urging Ottawa to maintain the long-gun registry, arguing the program is critical to fighting domestic violence. So, it seems your question should maybe be rephrased: Why don't f…

However, in Canada, our batshit form of gun control is pretty much always cited as being pro-feminist. When the Conservative government killed the much maligned non-restricted firearms database, it was frequently, almost always cast as being anti-woman. I'm not Canadian. Do you have any news articles that show this? Also, are there any studies that show increased numbers of women with concealed carry permits correlate with reduced rates of rape? Are they able to connect the women carrying guns w…

It actually comes down to an understanding of the scientific approach. Which you think is what, exactly? Will TRP be submitting any papers to any journals? You do realize that you'll be published in with the soft sciences, and not the hard sciences. How often do you discuss physics as opposed to life?

I was going to point that out too, but you're too fast! I should have realized that with the sperm jackalope combo you're rocking.

This is how they define themselves: The Red Pill: Discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men. (emphasis mine) No, it's not just a sexual strategy. It's a view on gender politics as well, which is reflected in the content of both the sidebar and the sub. To spell it out for you, it states current culture lacks a positive identity for men, which not everyone may agree with. Saying we live in "rape culture" or "a culture hostile to women" is engaging…

Everyone loves to believe they're a special snowflake who found a unicorn. Obviously, that's why TRP's main metaphor (the red pill from The Matrix) is about a man who discovers he's a special little snowflake (Neo) who then gets his very own unicorn (Trinity).

Field reports were condensed to one thread because they were thought to be cluttering up the sub. I don't see advice about things that are supposed to attract women (finance, fashion, etc.) but I see a lot gender politics. Whether or not you like it, that's a part of it. It even comes into the tagline, "The Red Pill: Discussion of sexual strategy in a culture increasingly lacking a positive identity for men." (emphasis mine). And if being happy little red pill wives made women happy, we wouldn't…

I'm not trying to be rude, but what is your formal training in science? BS, MS, PhD, sit in on an IRB, pal around with some PIs? I'm asking because you're citing a pop psychology book like it's a paper from Nature, and even Nature publishes bullshit sometimes. If I had to pick what I dislike about TRP the most, it's not how you treat women, but it's how you treat science--like a whore ragdoll that you can do whatever you want with. People cite statistics from their ass and no one questions it. C…

I would add some example of things that were removed and why, plus some conversations that you thought were good, and others that were borderline. I think part of your difficulty is the fact that gender politics are just ugly. People who are interested in circlejerking will do so, and can probably do so under the radar. People are going to pose as curious and ask questions, and then ignore the responses. Also, maybe just take off the downvote/upvote buttons or hide them, cuz goddamn I really wan…

It's better than being terribly clever when you're drunk. Imagine the trouble you'd get into. You wake up only to discover you've masterminded a museum heist and now you have all these hot paintings to sell!

No, but a basic level of critical thinking would be nice. Let's look at what you've said: The goal for them is to be successful as a man with women. How many articles on their frontpage right now are about seducing women? Like, that's the focus of the article, getting women. I counted one a second ago (Almost lost my marriage being a beta), yet you're arguing that this is their focus, when clearly it's more than that. How does mocking betas/feminists help get women? What does MRA have to do with…

Correct me if I'm wrong, but TRP goes farther than just observing behavior, it offers explanations for why women behave a certain way. The fact that women engage in these behaviors doesn't mean theories such as hypergamy, women being more attracted to alphas, etc. are correct. I mean, your explanation can be summarized with the word "because."

I assume a level of intellectual laziness. I'm not saying they don't have brains, but rather they choose not to use them. They've found a facile philosophy that divides things into man/woman, alpha/beta, the gray areas (or purple) be damned! I will assume intellectual laziness of anyone who is involved with such a philosophy the parses the world into a simple dichotomy.

So when we ask whether a behavior is innate, what we are asking is whether it is an evolutionary adaptation, whether it's culturally universal, whether it has a genetic basis, and when we ask if something is learnt we are asking about the learning mechanisms behind it. These are testable questions and not at all difficult to tease apart. This makes me think if PCR. It's such a simple concept, it should work everytime, right? But the reality is, it often doesn't. In fact, many simple procedures i…

There's no way to tease that out. Some behaviors are probably influenced by both nature and nurture. And epigenetics (or as I like to think of it, Lamarck's last laugh) throw a wrench in the whole thing anyways. I mean, do you call nature because you can inherit it, or nurture because it's something influenced by the environment?

I think "nature vs. nurture" is a false dichotomy. They both influence behavior. Because there are innate differences between the sexes does not mean society has no influence on behavior.

Do you find "misandry" to also be an ill-defined concept that serves no purpose except to further the agenda of the person using it? I've always thought of the terms (misogyny and misandry) as a set, useful for mapping out the inequalities in our society.
