This entire article gives me a headache.I would tend to agree, I don't think the critique of male + female couples is warranted, unless there is something like an abusive spouse situation going on. I do appreciate your level headed critique of the article though, and I would agree that the blame being put squarely on the heterosexual couple is a stretch at best. And insinuating that in virtue of being straight they are somehow automatically feeding into oppression is the main point of disagreement I find with a lot of this kind of tho… | /r/MensRights | 13/12/22 06:59 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place. In terms of the child bearing bit, I mean women being defined solely by their ability to bear children and people seeing thinking that's their only purpose in life, not the fact that they can bear children. We tend to share a lot of the burden in terms of stuff to do and emotional labour, I like the way I am and she likes the way she is and we both like each other in that way. What I hate from the feminist side in this respect is the mere fact that I'm heterosexual is feeding into a larger oppre… | /r/MensRights | 13/12/22 03:00 AM
stuck between a rock and a hard place. For the first point I would say it's a relatively minor gripe, but the whole thing of women being child bearers really rubs me the wrong way, or the fact that a lot of us dudes whether intentionally or not may share the burden of stuff like housework unequally, these are all minor but trying to address them is a feminist thing, I believe, although it could just as easily fall under the banner of general 'not being an ass-ness' For the second part I would agree it's not my concern, I can still ag… | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 11:55 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place.I would agree, but I believe that in a basic, philosophical sense, egalitarianism and anything close to it are genuinely impossible. Even if you take something like average egalitarianism. The reason being that you can always find some inequality if you look hard enough. But that's a debate for a different day. | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 10:53 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place.I think you'd be surprised to find that a lot of feminists also oppose the draft, although for different reasons, most of them being pacifists is a good one, plus the fact that they think it reinforces patriarchy, there's where I have an issue with their side of things, but there is an overlap. | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 10:43 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place.I mean greater responsibility in terms of, say, being a breadwinner, although I agree with you guys that drafting sucks I've always felt it's a bit of a stretch as an example, given how rarely it happens nowadays, at least in first world countries. | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 10:35 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place. And there I would generally agree, I wouldn't say having more responsibility is a disadvantage though because that often comes with greater payoff. | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 09:57 PM
In a weird position.Fair enough, I mean the general principle I wanna get at is that I do support empowering women in some areas and I support equality, those two things aren't mutually exclusive. Just like how I agree with some MRA points about empowering men and boys, I think ultimately these two frameworks need to work together to achieve what we want. So supporting some things feminism has to say and some things you guys have to say is, I think, pretty reasonable after this discussion. I do want to ask though, … | /r/AntiFeminists | 12/12/22 09:51 PM
In a weird position. And what I'm trying to get across to you is that YES IT SHOULD BE EQUALLY DONE but the fact is that right now it isn't but that shouldn't mean we throw the whole baby out with the bathwater, make reforms stop college profs from espousing the bullshit they do, mix MRA shit in there and what you get out the other side is feminism for both parties, obviously it wouldnt go by the name feminism but the two are different sides of the same coin. Men don't want to be drafted, okay cool lobby for that, w… | /r/AntiFeminists | 12/12/22 09:39 PM
In a weird position. No I can't point out what it has done to bring men up but the fact that the vote was won by women with education and whatnot is certainly a good thing. That brought women basically level with men at the time, I think what most people get confused about is that a concept is separate from its practice and those who practice it. So in an absolute theoretical vacuum feminism is about those things, but it has been corrupted ever since people started letting it touch areas it shouldn't, like monogamy.… | /r/AntiFeminists | 12/12/22 09:17 PM
In a weird position. As with other commenters, I got my type of equality mixed up, I was thinking of equal opportunity, not equal outcome but couldn't phrase it right. Also that's why I added ideally in there cos the belief system is far from ideal, and if it was it would be egalitarian humanism. Also this is why I agree with pre Beauvoir feminism not what the movement has become after her. | /r/AntiFeminists | 12/12/22 09:03 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place.I'm inviting you to fill in the blanks in that regard, think the video game industry, I don't exactly want to go into specifics but more women coming in is a good thing and should be championed, and the ones that are already there aren't having the best time, especially if they work for Activision. I will agree that I was a bit brash by originally putting forth an unsubstantiated statement about a certain group is deserving of something. I'm also having to think on my feet here so examples don't… | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 09:01 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place.Okay first if all don't you dare go insinuating that my gf has anything to do with my opinions, I formed these beliefs well before I met her and am currently just expressing them. Second, you can agree with a principle and not it's practice, if I had to put a name to it I would have a VERY liberal feminism with an MRA supplement or vice versa, so for instance I would agree with feminism on the global scale for all women, like women in Syria who should be brought up to American women standards, o… | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 08:37 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place. To be honest I've not done the most research on the practical side of things, mostly just the theory which I've come to hate. I mean fuck, I wanna love my girl be straight and enjoy it! | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 08:11 PM
stuck between a rock and a hard place.I can't think of much off the top of my head 😅 | /r/MensRights | 12/12/22 07:43 PM
In a weird position.I do resonate with the equality of outcome point, I was really trying to get equality of opportunity but couldn't phrase it right. I believe the ideology as practiced by MANY of its adherents is bad, but on the individual level I think advocating for some things in a VERY small setting like with blizzard and Activision is good and where feminism should come into practice. My main problem with it is when it becomes a polity and when they dive into areas it shouldn't touch, like saying monigamy is… | /r/AntiFeminists | 12/12/22 03:14 AM

Lets talk about a book!Ah you see, the reason she states is, of course, patriarchy. Cos heterosexual relationships are inherantly unequal, cos of course they are. | /r/MensRights | 30/06/22 08:44 PM
Lets talk about a book!Honestly, I think so, the author literally said that, to paraphrase, from the outside hetero relationships look tragic, and she feels sorry that we can't have the connection that queer (again her word not mine) people do. | /r/MensRights | 30/06/22 07:19 PM
Lets talk about a book!Ive wondered this too, like im sure she knows this but just hid it, Ive actually sent an email just politely asking what this would look like in practice, and if the author responds, ill add that in with an edit. Your other points also stand, I believe i read an interview somewhere, where she states that these things do happen cos we are human, but its different for queer (her word not mine) relationships because of some other outside influence. | /r/MensRights | 30/06/22 02:26 PM
