Yes, I got placement and child support. The courts do not take addiction lightly.

I always vote for third party in hopes that someday we will have more than two terrible choices. I'm looking forward to having three horrible choices.

Custody and placement are two different things. Custody determines who can make decisions on the kids behalf, whereas placement is where the kids will physically be. I have the kids 73% or more of the time. I don't want to jinx myself as my hearing is tomorrow 8am. But we have an agreement and its fair from my perspective. I will update tomorrow.

We did fathers day yesterday. Went on a horseback ride, had tacos and watched the new super Mario Brothers movie. It was a great day! My kids gave me huge hugs right before bed and they told me how much they love me.

I put up with the venue too long. Press charges. Insist she goes to treatment. If she continues to use leave her immediately. I spent 6 years hoping my ex would sober up but it only got worse. Keep your head up. And be the rock those kids deserve.

Are you in the US? What it sounds like to me is you used your assessment. Appraisals and assessments are often used interchangeably but are not the same thing. An assessment is not an appraisal. Tax assessments may or may not reflect actual market value and are used for real estate tax purposes. Appraisals are generally used for estates, divorces, sales, purchases, refi's and lender related work. Often there is a difference between the fair market value(assessment) and actual market value(sales …

I hear you. That is what has been weighing on my mind. Im not looking for revenge I just want to ensure my kids have what they need. After running the numbers though I don't thinknthe guideline iss over the top of what it costs to raise kids.

Yes the stbx is terrible with money and nickel and dimes herself to broke. The guideline amount is the conclusion I settled on. Thanks for the reply.

There it is, the no more mr nice guy reply. There is no toxic shame. I just think putting her on the street wouldn't help benefit my kids at all. Thank you for the reminder she is a grown ass women. Its hard to see that sometimes when she's constantly playing the victim. The college saving plan is a good idea and I was thinking about that last night.

She, for some reason hasn't gotten an attorney. I even encouraged her to. I think I have come to the conclusion that I should get the guideline and not look back. Thanks

When I say she the mother of my kids i mean it as she is the biggest female influence that they will have. If I take the amount im entitled to, whether I need it our not, it will hurt her ability to be the best she can for them (which I have my doubts she is capable of) The more I think about it the more cynically minded I am becoming though. Thanks for the input.

Therapy did me a world of good. I invited the stbx to it bit she refused. I stayed another 2 years and things devolved even further. It was hard to file. She asked for a divorce and did nothing. So eventually came to the realization that my life was shit with her and I needed to save myself.

So true! Its is so easy to remember the good times, but then the pain seeps in. I got burned pretty hard and those scars are solid in place. The good news is, she knows she fucked up. So far our co parenting has been going great and I hope, for the kids sake, that she is able to stay sober and be available for the kids. Im fucking done with her though.

I see the hope too. Im just think its hilarious that women would do this. I laughed out loud we I found out who the guy was. I feel totally unchained now. Take care and good luck with ladies!

Ya, she's made a mess of it. But I would rather have a stable mom for my kids then the train wreck she is turning out to be.

100%, she even commented before I filed that "she's only got a few years left" I am happy she's gone and excited to live my life. I will forgive and I have razed all emotional ties. Whether or not she realizes the quality of individual I am is not important to me. I am excited for the freedom from her and to continue to grow compared to before, I was just trying to not sink the ship. Thanks and you are spot on.

She is educated, comes from a good family with 3 masters degrees. Her parents were married till death. She is beautiful, charismatic and a compulsive liar with multiple eating disorders. The latter of which I didn't learn till later then the flood gates opened. Got a solid 5 awesome years together then the last 7 were shit with major substance abuse and infidelity on her part. No she was not always like this. Im not perfect but I was there, worked hard and was supportive. Marriage is stupid.

Yes indeed. This last 13 years has taught me many things, much of which align with your statements.

I appreciate the sentiment however you are way off with me. I currently have custody, I am very relieved she is gone and I never lost site of who I was. I don't care what she is doing on her time but I absolutely care what she is doing when she is with the kids. People have the right to take a moment for themselves and have feelings.

I would bawl too. Stbx is if she can stay sober. Stbx not sober fits your last sentence.
/r/Divorce_Men28/07/22 03:26 AM

Ya me too 50/50 state. Major substance abuse. Multiple convictions. The custody is only temporary but I am going to push for being sole legal custody permanently. Time will tell.

1 month into the process, I currently have ordered custody. This was the first time she is taking them. Thankfully its supervised otherwise there is no way the kids would've went anywhere. The kids seem to be pretty good so far. Stbx was mostly absent when we were together, so instead of me doing everything with her there, now its me doing everything with her not there. It has been peaceful and the kids have, from my viewpoint, reacted positively.

Thank you so much I really appreciate it. You hit so many points of how I feel. I have accepted that I need to move on. Im just terrified that I will fail my kids. Im listening to no more mr nice guy and it has many solid perspectives/theories that I hadn't considered before.

Thanks, I feel its important for her to be in their life. Ideally she will get supervised visits. I understand what you are saying and if she doesn't accept the supervised visits I will try to get 100%.
