I like this idea. I guess you said to use this card if it can't get any worse. I will keep this in mind. I feel if I don't time it right, she will move far away to make it difficult to see my kids.

Hey, what's the best way to get in touch with you?

Both lawyers are saying because we can't agree on the separation date, we should provide financials for both dates and then a decision will be made on which date to go with.....Is this normal?

Thanks. Yes we have 2 girls. No she didn't give up her career, she just decided to just work part time hours since she didn't see the need to work full time.We live in Ottawa Canada

Ok. If you're saying that her male lawyer won't play by the books, why do you think I should have a female lawyer instead?

Thanks for the info. 3 why do you say to not pay for a lawyer to fight spousal support?

True but I wouldn't go that route. But do you think it's a better strategy using a female lawyer if my wife has a male lawyer? My thoughts are if I have a female lawyer, she can push back more on my wife's demands compared to if I hire a male lawyer trying to push back on my wife.

That's true. But that way of direction would only be entertained if I was going to go that direction but I wouldn't. I guess the main thing is she would aggressively demand lower spousal support.

I'm in a no fault place as well. I've also been told a female lawyer might be a good way to go as well since they can push the envelope a bit more vs a male trying to bully a female. Are you with a male lawyer now? Thanks for the encouragement, yes I believe it will get better in time.

Hey guys, My question is why do you think the couple of the lawyers that I spoke to didn't advise me that I should have a divorce instead of responding to the separation agreement my wife has provided to me even though I told them my wife has cheated on me and I have proof and that the date of separation she said is 1 year ago. Is a separation more beneficial to the lawyer? Which brings me to another question, what is the benefit to getting a divorce vs a separation?

What do you guys think of me taking the angle of "I know about the affair you had, and it has broken my heart emotionally in pieces. I tried to make it work and I found out about you and this guy. Can you tell me why you did this?". I figure taking this approach isn't telling her she's a whore and cursing her out, but playing the emotional card with hopes that she would cut me some slack when it comes to the outrageous demands in allamony and primary child custody living arrangements. As mention…

Gifting to your mom? You mean give the money as a loan?

Every lawyer that I spoke to said it doesn't help my case when it comes to child support or allamony. Even if it were turned the other way around, it wouldn't help her case either being in a no fault province in Canada

I've talked to a lawyer and infidelity doesn't help my case sue to being in a no fault province in Canada. He said a divorce would only stop the health care benefits but allamony and child support wouldn't change even in a divorce...

What paper work did you tell her to sign? A separation agreement that you initiated?

Thanks guys. However I've spoken to a few lawyers already and where I live in Canada they have a "no fault" law where even if your spouse cheats on you, it doesn't affect child support or Allamony you have to pay......I know it makes absolutely no sense! So my question again is, do I let her know I know who the person is ( I don't have to say I recorded the conversation but just say people talk). Again, my intent would be for her to lower her ask on spousal support due to her feeling of guilty, …
