Go with family lawyer. They are ho hum because they have seen it all. They know the judges, the other family law attorneys and know how your case will play out after they look at all your discover.

No attorney is going to “fight for you” in family law. They just negotiate how the pot is split so each of you get your 50/50.

It’s a civil case where you’re splitting a corporation. No one is getting punished, no judge cares that your wife said mean things to you. The state cares about splitting the money and making sure your kids don’t go on welfare. The state statutes in your state are the law and every divorce goes by them.

Go with the attorney who will commit to provide you the service that you need, and agrees to your expectations. Also, do what you can to be open to advice and feedback from the attorney.

It may cost more for an attorney to do legal research and review case law, but that may benefit you if their passion drives them to do that research to fit the needs of your specific case.

Further, a nonpassionate attorney who practices in the family law field may likely have their own blind spots, but a lack of passion may indicate they aren't the type to do the research to overcome blind spots that relate to your specific case. Rather, just go off their own assumptions...
