TBH I’m more concerned that the OP mentioned Grace possibly has depression, but seems to be more concerned with her appearance than with her mental health.

It all depends on what your priorities are. Of course, if you’re grinding away working 40-60 hours a week, late into the evening, it will be difficult to maintain a home, care for children, earn a paycheck, all the while having the perfect skin and body, while being dressed to impress at all times. Personally, I make it work with a part time job, waking up early even on my off days to go to the gym, and making the most of my available time. I find enjoyment in organization and being one step ahe…

Yep, different countries, different cultures. One isn’t worse or better than the other, just a different way of life. In the US, if a man lived, unmarried, with his parents until his mid thirties it’d be seen as very odd.

My husband knew how to cook basic meals for himself. He didn’t live with his parents until marriage-he had his own condo he purchased after graduating and getting a job and lived alone. His mom didn’t come over and cook for him and do his laundry. I think everyone, men and women, should know basic life skills: cooking, cleaning, and simple home/car repairs. It’s just smart planning. Edit: perhaps it varies in other countries, but in the US many people don’t live at home with their parents until …

IMO attraction really can’t be forced. You also have to think about why a man would want to be with YOU. It’s been said before, but weight is just one aspect (even though for a woman it’s the most important from a man’s POV, from my experience, not generalizing). How’s your character, your personality, your homemaking skills? Are you argumentative? Have you ever made your man a home cooked meal from scratch? Appearance and fitness/health are important. Start small-take a walk on your lunch break…

Men definitely get more grace, unfortunately. As long as men understand it takes time, money, and effort/discipline to maintain the figure they prefer in a woman, it’s all good IMO. I dated a guy earlier in my life who just couldn’t understand why I’d get up early on the weekends to go to spin or barre and then skip out on boozy brunch. There has to be a level of attraction though to your partner. It’s my understanding men are much more visual than women, but women absolutely notice a well dress…

Yes-it’s ok to shop around for a therapist! A professional, especially those who work in mental health, must remain neutral when working with patients.

I’ve seen an uptick in weight lost posts recently here. It’s really great to lose weight for your health, but please be careful to not push yourself too hard in the opposite direction-coming from a woman who’s 5’8 and convinced myself I needed to be continuously “losing weight”. At one point I was 103 pounds and quite underweight and going to the gym 5 days a week and trying to breastfeed a baby, just a warning to...not get so caught up in weight loss that you lose yourself and the good in life,…

I’m married I don’t want casual sex with men. Unless you’re referring to another commenter. So, the bottom line is: wife material = model gorgeous, virgin. Casual sex material = any woman available? Do men really not have standards and are just as desperate as slutty women for hook ups?

I’d expect men to boast about their sexual conquests because that’s what men do. Oftentimes in the sub feminism is associated with overweight, loud, foul mouthed women with colored hair and tattoos.

2 men in fact, the 3rd is my husband. I’m not sure what you mean about them “taking my responsibility”. You can’t change the past. You can live in the present, realize your mistakes without living a life filled with regret, and look forward to your future. I have no control over how my husband spent his time before we married. Men like sex-this is known fact. Many men want virgins but aren’t virgins themselves. Your comment is trolling, rude, and condescending. When my child will come to know ab…

Sometimes this sub can walk the line of generalizations about women and marriage. Like being slutty is a-OK but for your husband only. I’m always pretty cautious of discussing sexual experiences on here for that reason. Saving virginity for your husband, but him not saving his for you, risking STDs if he had unprotected sex, wanting porn performance expectations of his new young bride, etc. Perhaps it’s the women I surround myself with as friends, but most of the women I know were virgins when m…

My experience has proved differently. Men prefer women who conform to societal beauty standards. The way men talked in my workplace was always about sleeping with incredibly attractive women, some who I knew. These women were gorgeous, had beautiful clothes, and were in shape. None of these women were overweight, feminist slobs. I guess when it comes to sex or no sex, low value men will have sex with ANY woman regardless of her appearance. When it comes to sex with a beautiful woman in her 20s w…

I think it’s completely the opposite. To attract men, women must maintain a high standard of beauty. Also, context! If I’m coming from the gym (sloppy I guess in athletic clothing) and need to stop for gas or at the grocery store to pick my husband up a treat, I’m not going home first to shower and put on my Sunday best. Now that I’m married, I much more relaxed now about my appearance. The only man I have to impress is my husband. If I’m picking up a coffee in yoga pants with my sweaty hair in …

My N count is 3, all in committed relationships. My husband’s N count is much, much higher. But men aren’t held to the same standard women are when it comes to sex, for many reasons. I’ll own it-I was young and made choices. I trusted the guys I slept with before meeting my husband when I was 30. I vetted them thoroughly and waited quite a long time dating them before having sex. I can’t change the past, but I don’t regret my experiences, either. I used protection and didn’t hook up with random …

I didn’t write the comment above, but I agree with it. Proper vetting, yes, but not giving any man except my husband the responsibility of taking care of me. I had no expectations of random men “protecting me”. FWIW I was never a feminist but I did go to college and worked full time prior to meeting my husband in order to support myself...I was kind of take-it-or-leave-it with kids too (genetic issues in my family) so I never felt intense pressure to marry and have children young. Congratulations on your marriage! Do you exercise? What’s your day to day nutrition intake? When we were trying for a baby I was of the mindset “I need to be at tip top shape and my nutrition has to absolutely be on point.” My diet has always focused on heaps of fresh veggies, lean protein, with minimal amount of fruit, dairy, and healthy fat. Thank you! I DO feel pretty, just pudgy and soft. I guess my investment in my appearance has always been more about my health than enhancements, like I’d rather spend money on skincare products and organic food than fake hair and lashes. Overall, I miss my fit body!

I said in my OP that I do style my normal hair daily. My hair is still thick and beautiful from pregnancy. Maybe I’ll think about a few face framing extensions when my hair starts to fall out later PP. Micro blading while breastfeeding is not recommended-were you aware of that? I’ve had lash extensions in the past and I prefer my lash lifts. I don’t need fake hair, fake brows, or fake lashes to be pretty Thanks for the advice, but I’m doing just fine with my hair and makeup routine. If you have …

Those are luxuries and not in our budget especially with a newborn. Also these are time consuming-I’m breastfeeding and pumping milk. I do lash lifts, and my cousin is a hairstylist so I do get my brows waxed and hair cut and colored whenever I want. Hair extensions still require time for styling, you can’t just wake up with perfect hair because you have extensions lol.

But I DO seduce him, lol! I’ve explicitly stated multiple times that I provide him with as much oral sex as he wants (he’s not to greedy, thank goodness!) How is that not seducing him or doing enough at 8 weeks PP?! FFS I’m still wearing thick pads it’s a bit difficult to want to “show off and feel sexy” in a little lacy thong at the moment.

So crazy how they “don’t notice” right? It blows my mind how priorities shift for men once marriage and children are brought into their lives. I do not think I could do waist training with a corset, more power to you! I’m glad you relate with the awkwardness of foreplay and a new postpartum body.

I’ll definitely be gentle to him when asking for words of affirmation. My old lingerie doesn’t...fit. 😢 And I’m not keen on buying more if I can use it as motivation to shrink back down to pre pregnancy weight! I also don’t want to get it dirty with blood and breast milk if I may be so candid. I don’t think not wearing lingerie for a short time in my life is equal to as me not loving him ESPECIALLY since I stated in my post I make sure he’s satisfied.

I’m currently seeing a pelvic floor PT already as mentioned in the OP to start slowly incorporating movement and stretching for my strengthening my abs pelvic floor before going full throttle at the gym like I’m used to. I’m taking in about 500 calories extra, although I’ve never really counted calories. Let me preface this with a wholehearted thank you for your well thought out response! Yes, I’m eating around 500 extra calories. It’s the mental block I have a hard time with. I’m used to not gorging myself on food and being a little bit hungry but I’m just ravenous. I’m in the fitness industry and my nutrition is pristine. Hey, everyone has their own priorities. I’m just so caught up in the “women today are feminazi slobs” so I tend to overcompensate for my husband. If you take care of yourself, manage your weight, eat well, and exercise PRIOR to pregnancy you’ll generally do better in the long run. Of course the younger you are, the faster your body heals. If you marry this wealthy man, I also assume you’ll have the means to fund a mommy makeover and a personal trainer if you want one, so in any case I wouldn’t be too concerned about saggy breasts or mommy tummy. I mean a little at first...but once you’ve worked for a year or so, you get into the swing of things. Speaking from experience. I also only work 2 days a week. Raising children isn’t exactly what I’d call a “relaxed path” either. It’s a TON of responsibility.

Depending on what you’re studying, you may also get a job quickly and be able to pay off any debt! Not all women who go to college major in gender studies, which is a popular rumor. I work in healthcare and didn’t accrue much debt and paid off within a year.

I met my husband at the gym-he asked me to dinner all while I had no makeup on, athletic clothing, and was all sweaty. I was also 28, so...please know that you won’t necessarily meet your future captain when you’re dressed to the 9s and at age 21. It’s obviously great if you do, but I’m encouraging women who haven’t found a husband yet and are fretting about it.

I agree with being a little coy and showing interest. I assumed asking a man out was quite literally marching up to him, interrupting whatever he’s doing, and being straightforward and brash. I associate that with being aggressive.

Ok, so what’s the balance? I thought RPW we allow the man to take the lead. If I’m the one asking him out and planning the date, is it assumed I’m paying as well?

Nope. If I enjoy my husband when he’s in shape and fit and sexy, I figure I’d better be stepping up to the plate as he does. Why would I be a hypocrite? We both prioritize health, so it’s easy to eat well and go the gym often as it’s our lifestyle. Dressing well for your body and your man is important but so is context. Yes to resilience vs. dominance. FWIW, I was always thinking “How can these feminine, demure women look so well put together and skinny with 5 well behaved young children in tow?” Resilience. I was always ashamed of my resilience and discipline in life although I really felt a pang of pride since these attitudes helped me to accomplish life goals and felt feministic to me, when in reality I was confusing dominance with resilience. I care more about nutrition than about calories. Protein, complex carbs, and fats are essential for body functions (including healthy hair, skin, and nails!) Over time I’ve replaced crappy snacks with nutrient dense ones. Green yogurt with flaxseed and berries (low glycemic index to prevent the spike and crash in blood sugar) instead of chips, and home brewed kombucha in place of alcohol. Simple swaps can make such a difference if you’re just starting out on a health journey.

The gym. A hiking club. A rowing club. Even an animal shelter volunteering as a dog walker! Anything involving fitness or giving back to their community is always a good sign. Women who are dedicated to their appearance and often driven by discipline (waking up early, putting nutrition first over indulging in cravings, minimal alcohol use, putting others before themselves in terms of the shelter example) make excellent partners.

I just honestly never cared-in fact, I like to stand apart from the crowd. I didn’t WANT to fit in with all the feminists and I knew I may suffer in the short term (less friends, etc) but less is more, and not only when applying makeup!...do I want fake “friends”? Do I want to change my morals and values so I’m not lonely? I just KNEW the payoff in the end would be worth it. Ladies, all I’m saying is the extra attention isn’t worth compromising for. I know I’m in the minority here, but I’m intro…

I’m glad my comment resonated with you! I guess I just really found a good group of like minded women to keep in my circle. Prior to that I...just didn’t care? Other women sleeping around? Eh, shrug. Nothing to do with me. Other women overweight? Meh, not my cup of tea, but they are just hurting themselves in the long run. I hear through the grapevine someone is running their mouth about me and spreading rumors? I don’t have the energy or time to dwell on that.

I think having empathy is actually a quite feminine quality. And I agree with you about the “wall”, like you’re suddenly a crypt keeper once you turn 30 lol.

Is it really that hard though to ignore the haters? Just keep your head high and stick to your values. Maybe it’s just my friend group, but none of us really care who’s a SAHM, or who works part time, or who’s the prettiest, or who has the most children or the wealthiest husband. And we don’t have time for others who criticize us. I’m not conventionally beautiful by any means other than being thin and fit, and I don’t have a pretty face or perfect hair despite skincare, makeup, and hair treatmen…

Agree, my husband has no contact with any of his exes, same goes for me, for various reasons, but mostly because we have no need to be in touch anymore. Idk to each their own, if it works in your relationship than go for it.

Not sure why you’re downvoted. My husband is still close with his high school buddies, many of whom married their high school sweethearts so he’s known their wives for many years as well. Every so often, one his friends’ wives will text him about an upcoming kid birthday party, Friendsgiving plans, or just in general to chat about me (I’m a nurse and so are many of them and they ask about the pandemic) I could care less honestly and I know it’s nothing more than polite, friendly interaction. I’m…

I never said having an ED made women absolutely infertile. In fact, I never mentioned EDs in my reply. However, women DO need adequate nutrition in general in order to grow and support a healthy pregnancy and I assumed this was well known. So therefore, like I said, “Overall health is most important”. But you’re absolutely right-women starving in third world countries have children, Olympic athletes whose periods have stopped also have children. It’s not a one size, end all be all.

Honestly, I never met a man other than my ex-fiancé who preferred BBW. Don’t ask how I found that out, but they do exist. Prior to meeting my husband, men I dated appreciated the fact that I was thin and fit, but couldn’t come to terms with the amount of time and effort it took to maintain my physique. Spending generous amounts of time meal prepping, planning my gym schedule for the week, and earning a fitness certification in the meantime translated to less time for him. So sometimes the self d…

I agree, I feel like I could gain 10 pounds and my husband wouldn’t notice lol. I did a strict elimination diet years before we met for a medical issue, and some male workers commented that I looked “gaunt” and that my cheekbones were sunken in-obviously not attractive. I dropped from 135 pounds to 118 pounds in 2 months.

I think in general at least in the US, men enjoy naturally thin women. However my husband prefers the fit and healthy look. My collarbones still show (I’m assuming that’s what you mean) but my abs, calves, inner thighs, arms, butt, and back are defined but nowhere near body builder-ish. I weigh more than I ever have because muscle is more dense than fat, and my body fat is 18% which is the norm for female athletes, yet my BMI is still at 20. Overall, health is most important. I think men are tur…

You can certainly serve them drinks and snacks to start off, then maybe have your bar cart set up with alcohol, mixers, and garnishes so they can serve themselves. My husband has friends over often for Sunday football, and all of his friends know their way to the fridge and the kitchen to find what I’ve prepared if they want seconds!

I work part time 2-12 hour shifts at the hospital, and teach 6 fitness classes each week. I’m currently pregnant, so no kids terrorizing and messing up the house, but I do nearly all of the cooking-I love to cook!-and almost all the house chores (deep cleaning and biweekly cleaning of bathroom, kitchen, floors, vacuuming, windows, etc). My husband will wash and fold laundry, change the bedsheets, unload the dishwasher, and do the outdoor yard work. I realize this will change a bit once our LO is…

I’m 33 and have been getting minimal Botox twice a year for the past several years as more of a preventative measure. I get medical grade skin treatments from a dermatologist. Combined with a consistent skin care routine, I’d say I’m managing pretty well. It’s helping me to age gradually and my husband doesn’t care one way or another, lol. To each their own! Edit to add: I feel like men think or say they won’t/don’t care about Botox/skincare until they see the results. It’s like gaining 5 or 10 …

I’m wondering the same, like how do women maintain such high standards for their husbands if they’re nursing babies/chasing toddlers all day? Wake up 2 hours early to work out, shower, do perfect hair and makeup, and put on a pair of heels? There’s also a huge different of both parents working vs. a SAHM IMO. Time management and communication prior to pregnancy is a great place to start and I wish more men and women could discuss these things maturely prior to having children.

I read this as less of “women don’t need no man!” but ”marriage isn’t guaranteed and having bit of a life plan is smart.” Funny how much interpretations can vary so much from person to person. 😊 I could also be projecting, as I never thought I was attractive enough for men because I didn’t fit the mold-other than being thin and fit, I’m pale, tall, small breasts, thin/fine hair, and had horrible acne scars for years. So I got an education because I didn’t want to live with my parents for my whol…

“But I do think the advice should be "don't change your fundamental values for a partner". There are certain things that I am not OK with, and if I had to bend those core beliefs it would build resentment.” This is SO underrated. But so so important. My husband I talk about how grateful we are that our core values align-religion, the importance of health/fitness, prioritizing one another, giving each other space for individual hobbies/friend groups, number of children we wish to have, etc. We al…

My mom was really awesome in the aspect where I wasn’t raised to be the center of the universe, and to work hard for myself but expect nothing in return. I’ve also made a conscious effort to surround myself with like minded female friends, so I guess I don’t feel as “sucked in” to what culture/society dictates as I’ve always marched to the beat of my own drum, in a way, just assuming I’d click with those who share my views about self improvement and compromise in relationships. Yes, I completely agree. It’s absolutely a 2 way street in partnered relationships. I guess I never truly internalized the message of “women are perfect and therefore have no faults.” I was ALWAYS taught to be on the lookout of ways I could be improving myself-physical, mental, and spiritual-and in turn, being honest with my husband, and expecting the same of him. This is great advice when it’s a one income household, assuming the SAHM is a lazy homebody. My husband and I both work and split chores, etc. But we actually TALKED about this during our engagement. We had conversations about our future together and our own visions. We each made compromises as such, and still check in often with one another often.

I applied the advice “Be the type of person you’d want to date seriously/marry.” I dove more so into my hobbies, did alot of self reflection, changed bad habits, etc. In the process I weeded our men who’d rather get drunk and sleep in all weekend while I went to the gym at 7am on Saturday morning and meal prepped for the upcoming week.

I surprisingly built a decent amount of muscle and got really lean doing hot yoga 5-6 times a week. Loved it so much I’m now a part time yoga instructor. Barre will really tone your abs and bum. You’ll meet like minded women, at least I did, who are motivated and very passionate about fitness, nutrition, and appearance. We go out for coffee and a long walk after class sometimes. Edit: answered question about making friends.

I live in a liberal city and like you, I’ve never had anyone give me hard time. My coworkers love when I bring in homemade baked goods, strangers compliment my fashion, and my family has always supported my love of makeup, animals, and my career as an RN. All of my close friends except 1 are either SAHMs or work part time/casual. I was never pushed to be independent by my school, society, or my parents, but I MYSELF realized the value of education in a field where I’d get a job right away and co…

I assumed “career woman” included any woman that worked outside of the home in any capacity and attended college (with all the hoopla about student loans and debt) not just those striving for positions like CEOs/surgeons/law/finance.

My husband says differently...he loves that I’m a registered nurse and that gives me a “one-up” in knowing more about health and general medical issues to care for ourselves, our again parents and hopefully children one day. He’s very secure in his own career and hobbies and also isn’t 10 years older than me. A few men I dated prior to meeting my husband were thrilled I had a career in nursing-part time, mind you-it’s a nurturing profession with flexible hours and THAT was attractive, according …

Personally? I would for the confidence boost, like titlejunk said. Just because I have a husband and children doesn’t mean because I’ve locked a man down and am now a mom that I can’t feel sexy in my own skin. Also I’m in the fitness biz and need to promote the image.

I thought this was a great response and I didn’t read this as a personal attack on anyone IMO lol! “Enter a marriage understanding that faithfulness is a non-negotiable and make a choice that you will prioritize your husband’s sexual needs and visual needs.” Couldn’t agree more!

I’m glad someone mentioned male virgins! Men seem to get away with higher n-counts because “it’s just sex” but for women, it’s more “emotional”. So what happens when that man marries? It’s all suddenly no longer “just sex”? What about men and pornography? Will his wife always be the best, or will he be comparing the shape of her body and bedroom skills to those of previous partners and what he’s seen in porn? I never I stood that logic, but maybe it’s just me. Edits: added more thoughts I’ve bee…

Like mentioned above, 50-100+ was clearly an exaggeration to prove a point, not to take quite so literally. Mine personally is 4. Also I can imagine a sex worker or someone who has been trafficked has quite a high n-count, and I believe no woman is a “lost cause” if she TRULY wants to turn her life around with the right support system and probably therapy. Edit: a word

No worries lol! It was more to make my point. I had a few serious LTR prior to meeting my husband. Self improvement is really key here. By the time I met him, I had not slept with a man for over 2 years, got a fitness certification to teach yoga and a Pilates, ran a few marathons, perfected my hair/makeup routine and got really serious about nutrition.

Can I correct it to 50+ then? Maybe I shouldn’t have said a number, more like highly promiscuous women who have no desire to improve themselves (which is certainly subjective to the reader) have more difficulty pair bonding.

You’re absolutely correct. It’s very family friendly. So many I know always say “I could NEVER do what you do” and I’m like “I work 2 days a week for a full salary you work 5 and have no down time...no thanks!” I think alot of the drawback is longer 12+ hour shifts, things that make people squeamish, things that are sad, dealing with the public-I’m an introvert and I’m exhausted after my shift just having to talk and provide emotional support for people. A coworker of mine just had a baby and co…

IDK I wasn’t a virgin prior to marriage and I have no problems bonding with my husband. There’s also a massive difference if a woman has slept with 100+ men to feel validated and a women who was in a handful of committed LTRs, especially if she’s older.

I’m with you...I am very fit and active and eat really healthy food daily, and you hear these stories of women barely being able to stomach anything but simple carbs and juice for the first trimester. My biggest fear is my husband no longer finding me attractive during/after pregnancy even if I manage to lose the baby weight. Le sigh.

Nursing has been a wonderful, rewarding career. I’ve worked in various settings and since I’ve married I only work part time. When I was single, I picked up as much or as little overtime shifts that I wanted (hellooooo savings and no worries about paying bills!) and also had retirement benefits and health insurance when I was fresh at 22. I had a job lined up prior to graduation and lived at home, and I paid my loans off in one year (I had less than $30K to pay which is apparently a steal, I had…
