Any echo chamber will ultimately lead to increasing self radicalization and amplifying the most extreme voices the longer it goes on.

I mean I’m not fighting for feminist causes by opposing the abortion overturn, and I’m not doing their bidding, I’m just not myopic as shit and can see that this particular situation is bad news for EVERYONE including men, and I’m not so myopic to think that they won’t stop here. Contraception, sodomy laws, and gay marriage are next. So all our gay brothers are going to be criminalized. None of us will have rights to our own reproduction. We won’t be able to start families with those we love if …

And that’s the point. They don’t want to pass it so they act like they do in the lower legislatures knowing their guy at the top will kill it and they can go “well, we tried” and hope you fall for the rope a dope. Kind of how the Democratic house passed a cannabis legalization bill under trump knowing it wouldn’t clear the senate, but now that legislation is mysteriously absent now that they have the senate and the presidency.

I’m sorry, if you would have voted for him after the way he handled Covid in his state, (or the whole don’t say gay thing) you are either objectively not informed at all, or simply are a right winger, and not a “left-wing” male advocate like your flair suggests. This guy is genuinely evil. He’s a modern day fascist. And he’s intelligent enough to actually destroy our democracy unlike the last idiot in the white house.

I told you guys, DeSantis, nor anyone else on the right, actually give a fuck about men. They want to loudly posture to try to trick you into supporting them, but when it comes time to act on their promises they quietly act against them hoping you won’t notice.

As a dad of a six year old boy, having a child made me radically reevaluate my world view too. I was a fundamentalist Christian missionary at the time and holding my baby made me really start to question the beliefs I had always accepted uncritically. Though very different in nature, my religious upbringing left me with significant trauma. I can empathize. For me I’ve found that practicing intentional gentle self talk helps. Be patient with yourself. You’re going to make mistakes along the way. …

I’m not saying some trite “I did it, you can too” nonsense. What I am saying is that no matter what happened to you before, there are actionable steps you can take now to begin to deprogram yourself from maladaptive coping strategies. I can’t say specifically what those steps are for any one individual, but I do know that no one is fatalistically doomed to suffer from mood disorders, maladaptive coping strategies, or cognitive distortions. For me it was finding a hobby (music), going to therapy,…

Putting a lot of words in my mouth. It’s not like I wasn’t bullied my whole life in school either. From 3rd to 6th grade I didn’t have any friends. At all. 7th grade I moved to a different school where I had only a couple friends, and was still bullied there, to the point that I had a teacher bully and stalk me online up to the point that they made up dead ass lies about me that got me expelled my senior year. I know what that life is like. I also know that keeping yourself in a mindset, or espe…

TBH I’ve just never really given a shit how people perceived me and have just been myself. I didn’t obsess over whether girls liked me or not. I didn’t give a fuck about losing my virginity. I developed hobbies that were fulfilling (mostly playing guitar), and I engaged in those hobbies socially (played in a band). I didn’t even go on a proper date, let alone kiss a girl until I was like 23. And honestly I would have been content and happy had I never. Sometime around 19 I kinda started spiralin…

Like I get that, but the hyper fixation on “I’m ugly” is really self destructive and self sabotaging. It’s also not true. For every dude I’ve met who thinks he’s too unattractive to find a partner, I’ve met two or more who are even more physically unattractive who have found partners.

I’ve literally never seen incels be mocked for how they look, but I see plenty of mocking of their repulsive attitudes, both about others and themselves. No body wants to be around someone who’s perpetually bitching about how ugly and inferior they are and how everyone who’s slightly more successful than them are shitty people for how unfairly they treat them for being so ugly. News flash: it’s not your looks. It’s not your body type. It’s your self loathing and angsty lashing out over that self…

You know it wouldn’t surprise me at all tbh. All this excessive, angry identity politics keeps the working class from gaining any sort of class consciousness and class solidarity, meanwhile the hard right fascists get to use the ultra woke as a scapegoat to point at and blame societies problems on and recruit people who see the insanity of the “left” (even though there’s nothing actually left about regressive idpol) as absurd, posturing themselves as the reasonable ones when they absolutely aren…

This is the only inescapable takeaway that I can arrive at. Like if there’s no physiological component to being trans than it’s something that conversion therapy could “fix”, and any sane and compassionate person can understand that conversion therapy is fundamentally cruel, ineffective and abusive.

Concerning the xenogender/neurodivergent thing I’m autistic and I remember being on Twitter years ago seeing some autistic people like this claiming that they were “autgendered” and I couldn’t help but think “maybe you need to be online less”. Autism isn’t a gender. Autistic people are more likely to be gender non-conforming sure. Autistic people are more likely than their neurotypical peers to be trans, but FFS autism is not a gender.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/06/22 05:26 PM

It’s certainly not the reason I support trans rights but so far it’s the explanation of why trans people are trans that has allowed me to change the minds of several formerly anti-trans rights conservatives and evangelicals in my life, both friends and family. Especially when I compare it to, say, my adhd or autism. They can understand that it’s literally my brain anatomy that makes me the way I am, and that those traits are an immutable part of what makes me me. Likewise being trans is an immut…

To me the science isn’t about “do trans people really exist”, more along the lines of “what specifically is the biological reason that trans people clearly exist”. Trans identities would be totally valid without knowing that, but I’ve had repeated success explaining transgenderism to transphobes who think being trans is just a mental illness by explaining the neurological links to trans identies, getting them to genuinely change their mind and attitudes about trans people. I mean hell I’m autist…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/06/22 04:11 PM

I just don’t get it. I’m not saying there should be some medical test to prove someone is trans or anything, just that if someone says they experience being a gender that is incongruent with their sex they probably have neurostructural differences that make them so. I mean the same is true for gay, lesbian, and bi people. They have neurological differences from their hetero peers too, and I can not fathom what is offensive about that knowledge.

You know when I think about the brain injury aspect it makes me think of CTE rates in people who play high school level sports. Football is by far the worst offender, but even sports like soccer dramatically increase your risk of suffering repeated concussions which leads to CTE and an unacceptably high percentage of high school football players go on to develop CTE and I can’t help but wonder how the cultural expectations of boys having to play sports to be socially accepted by their peers my p…

Because it keeps the working class from finding class consciousness and solidarity, and, at least in the US, the mainstream “liberal” party is mostly a controlled opposition party ran by career assholes on the take from corporate money. Woah, that’s all really unfortunate that you’re dealing with that but it’s all super fascinating in it’s own way. I’m frustrated as hell that every fucking article written about this has to bring up that Depp did drugs and drank. I think gender expression as a social construct is where the truth lies. “Masculinity” and “femininity” vary greatly from culture to culture, and across time. There is no socially non-arbitrary way of being masculine or feminine, but the experience of gender is definitely linked to biology, both in hormones and neurological differences, which is why trans people feel such gender dysphoria.

If you watch the video it’s pretty fucking clear.

I watched the video, that checks out. Dude was a grade a dumb ass who should never have been there, but someone drew a gun and fired a shot into the air, which rittenhouse was retreating from an altercation when that shot was fired, and he thought he was being shot at, so he shot someone else who also had a gun and was coming aggressively for him. Oh absolutely. That last sentence resonates with me really deeply. Now answering that question is a bit harder precisely because I keep that stuff locked down so tight. But honestly a big portion of it has to deal with emotional abuse I’ve received from a romantic partner that I have no real outlet to really express or do anything about because it’s so culturally normalized for men to take emotional abuse within relationships and we’re expected for it not to phase us.

Idk about what all this noise is but trans rights are human rights. Trans women are women and trans men are men, and I’m really not interested in hearing someone whining about trans rights as somehow a threat to men’s rights. TERFs are some of the most hostile, misandrist wings of feminists there are. They’re opposed to people’s right to self determination and agency. No TERFs, no SWERFs.

Spiking drinks is a real thing dude. Clearly your knowledge of drugs is pretty lacking. GHB is the most common drink spiking compound. It takes a bit to kick in, and it doesn’t make you unconscious per say, just very cooperative and causes you to black out memory wise. At lower doses it makes you feel euphoric, horny, and slightly amnesiac. Some people take it recreationally. And like I posted in a comment above, my wife had her drink spiked with molly and wound up rolling pretty hard. It was an…

No body has abortion as their primary form of birth control “Willy nilly” you’re barking at a boogie man. But please give me a non-religious explanation why abortion shouldn’t be legal. Birth rates ain’t it, cause the solution isn’t to force people to have children they don’t want, but rather a nice incentivize and support those who do want to have and raise children, which largely comes back to income inequality and labor rights.

As someone who is unabashedly pro abortion, I don’t have any respect for the “pro-life” position because it’s always rooted in some religious metaphysical connotation of when “life” begins. Because transgender people have neurological differences that reflect brain anatomy of their identified gender vs their birth sex. Being trans is a type of neuroatypical existence not that different from being autistic, in that it’s driven by neurological differences that are hard wired into people’s brains. There are no neurological differences between ethnicities. Jesus Christ you guys.

Anything other than 100% right to bodily autonomy, for women as well as men, is a non starter for me. People with uteruses are the ones who directly feel the weight of abortion restrictions and I will die on the hill that they deserve the right to make the decision that is right for them and their body. I just wish the shoe was on the other foot in regards to circumcision.
