Don't react to her emotional outbursts. You can diffuse so many bad situations by maintaining a calm tone and not getting pulled into her emotional state. Then when you remain calm she will take your silence as you "being mad at her." Then you say to her, "I ain't mad I'm just not argueing" then she will go to the other side of the room, sulk for a bit and eventually come back to you for attention.
