Thanks so much. I appreciate the advice.

Thank you. I needed this today. I have been trying to avoid confronting her until after the holidays so that my kids don’t forever hate Christmas. It sucks. I hope I can keep it together until the kids go back to school in January.

Something that is helping, I started on antidepressants two weeks ago. It is already helping me get through each day. If you have been depressed for a while, it might be something you should talk to your doctor about.

I used to do Benadryl but I become dependent on it. Same with NyQuil.

I’ve talked with my beat friend and a few family members. I will likely look for a group after we have the talk.

I have pretty much stopped alcohol. I might drink once in a while but not regularly at all. I did that a few months ago.

I stopped seeing my therapist a few months ago because he was encouraging me to file for divorce. I wasn’t ready because I felt like I didn’t try all I could. Now I’m ready and I see he was right. I’m not sad that I waited because I needed that closure. I need to find a new one but there aren’t many near me.

Thank you. 2019 was about fighting FOR us but it isn’t working. We went to counseling for several months and it helped the surface issues but not the root problems. I wish I would have done something years ago. Maybe then we could have saved it. I still have a small amount of hope that things may change but it appears to be getting worse every day. I shouldn’t have let my desire to not rock the boat go on for so long. Maybe if I would have stuck up for myself a long time ago she would have been …

Oh, I am. I just know realistically I won’t see much happen until the new year. There is too much going on from now until the holidays are over. It’s a busy season both at home and work.

I have not. I know that most people will tell me I shouldn’t but I’m going to attempt to do this without a lawyer. I just don’t have the money. There isn’t a way for me to get the money either. My paycheck is only enough for the bills and living expenses. Part of the issue with my wife is that she refuses to work more than a few hours a week to help with expenses. If she worked we would be really comfortable and would even be able to save! She would rather sit at home and play video games all da…

That sucks man. I wasn’t even thinking about what she might do concerning the kids. I hope that kind of bs is over for you.

That sucks! I wouldn’t do it that close to a holiday. Common sense says don’t do that. I meant the general term “the holidays” as in now until the end of the year.

They have spoken to me about her behavior on many occasions. They see some of it. I am torn. I want them to have some sort of relationship with their mother if possible. I also want them to understand that her bad behavior toward them isn’t acceptable. I have been told that where I am located, if you bring your kids into the divorce then you are immediately seen in a negative light by the judge. I still need to talk with a lawyer to get clarity.

Thank you for sharing. There are many signs showing that what you are saying is true. At this point, if she wants a divorce, I’ll give it to her. Right now she claims she doesn’t want one though. I know therapy isn’t magic. I know that it will likely only give us both an opportunity to vent more freely. I still have a glimmer of hope that something will change though. Maybe I’m the one that just wants to go to say I tried. I don’t know anymore.

Yeah. I know. I just struggle to accept it.

I am doing everything I can to keep the kids out of all this. I don’t want anything I do to turn them against her. She is doing a good enough job herself.

Yeah. She doesn’t even listen when I try to tell her what I need. I admit I’m not great at meeting her needs either but at least I acknowledge them and try. I don’t know if I could file first. Right now I can’t decide what I want. Which is what I need to decide.

Thanks. I am glad I got personal therapy. My therapist told me a while back to file preemptively. I told him that I couldn’t because I didn’t feel like I tried everything yet. I told him I wanted to try therapy. Now that we have an appointment set for Monday, I don’t really think I want it after the stuff I mentioned in my original post.

That sucks. Sorry man. To me, cheating and then lying about it or hiding it is inexcusable. If she did, just tell me and get it over with.

I would laugh if she got pregnant because I got a vasectomy a couple years ago. I wonder if it is guilt fucking. Even that she now calls it fucking is strange. She never called sex that in the past.

Thanks. Sorry you got screwed over so bad. I am mentally preparing for her to try to screw me over but I know I’m not fully prepared.

My previous posts will explain the long story. We have talked about divorce multiple times. She is also abusive to my kids and myself.

I know. This unfortunately isn’t the first time. She is a piece of work. I just wish I would’ve wised up sooner.

Here it is a one party consent state. So I am good.

She wants to be in control of everything so even if she did mean it, she will fight for custody.

Yeah. Unfortunately I don’t have the cash to hire a lawyer yet. I won’t for a couple months. But at least I was able to make a decision. Tonight I am going to talk with her about what happened this morning and record the conversation. Edit: specified what I am going to talk to her about.

I am definitely not in that income bracket. Lol. I don’t even make $80K. I agree though, she needs to work more. I am trying to get her to move in that direction. We shall see.

Hahaha! Wouldn’t that be great?! I could never do that to her.

Thanks. I have to figure out how I am going to pay for the lawyer. If I start setting money aside she will wonder why or even spend it. It’s tough because almost all of our accounts are shared. I have a small side business. I am thinking I might be able to open a bank account t for that and start setting the money aside in there.

She doesn’t work much (her choice as both kids are in school). She only makes like $5-6k a year. She is highly skilled and has a business degree. She would have 0 problem finding a great job paying more than I make if she would actually get off her ass and stop playing video games.

Not sure if they will say. I hate to even think of them having to worry about that. God, this sucks! They are 12 and 10.
