Humphrey Bogart in just about anything. Perhaps "Casablanca" aside. Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) in Gone With the Wind. "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn." The hamster is strong in Scarlett. Sean Connery as Bond. I would also argue Daniel Craig as Bond (for the most part).

The OP gives the impression that it was an amicable parting and a well-considered move on his part, but what's more: I don't think any man needs a "reason" to break up with a woman. Be classy and gentlemanly when you end things, sure, but I don't think you should have to justify to others why you chose to end a relationship. Life is too short to commit to something that you're not feeling 100% about.

"Bigger and better things" sounds like the opposite of trivial to me. Anyway, obviously only the OP knows whether or not he made the right move. I just want to give him kudos for knowing when to peace out. Too many guys don't.

I had a very similar interpretation of the film. Fitzgerald himself was a beta in many ways, whose main ambition was holding onto his crazy wife at any cost. His wife's insanity just about destroyed his talent, and his career. Some revealing glimpses into his character in Hemingway's "A Moveable Feast," for the curious.

I can imagine that it would be difficult in your situation. White dudes have the exotic factor going on. What might work in your favour is that you're not -- from what I can tell -- creepy and local. I say do what you can to make that known. Act like a baus NRI and you'll be treated like one. So many guys in India are whipped beyond belief. Show the girls there that there can be another way. You're going to need luck, persistence, more luck, alcohol, and sound logistics. If we're talking about Indian girls, it's a hella difficult game over there -- if you're white, can demonstrate sound social proof, have a classy-esque place to bring her back to (ie. not a shitty backpacker hotel/hostel), escalate escalate escalate, and are ok with holding her by the hand and leading her through, you might get lucky. But for the most part, it's pretty frustrating. Also, many backpacker chicks in In…

There are certainly many universally attractive traits, behaviours, etc. but there are often large differences between cultures when it comes to dating and sex. I feel you re: Seddit becoming one big circle jerk. And I think I understand your perspective better now. My original comment was borne out of something I've been wrestling with a lot lately: how do you successfully initiate other men into red pill thinking? To me, this is the problem with so much on this subreddit. When I was introduced to "the red pill" a number of months ago, I was instinctively on the defensive. So many of the guys who posted about related issues on the manosphere are condescending and unnecessarily bitter, and I was initially unenthusiastic about delving deeper. Now, several months later, I accept most of TRP premises, and feel lucky to have gained an invaluable new perspective on relationship dynamics, masculinity, and the man…

I wasn't trying to be snarky. I just think that it's a non-starter for a discussion if you don't have confidence, and are looking for pointers on how to get better with women. Improve your confidence and everything else follows.

I'd love to know what you guys think my problem is... Alright. I've always had low confidence and hardly ever talk to girls... Done.
/r/seduction03/04/13 07:00 PM

You will lose her if you can't get over this. Insecurity kills attraction -- I know from experience. Work on yourself, work on your confidence, grow into a better man. I might also add that if she's dropping hints that she's into other people, she might not be worth your time in the first place.
/r/seduction02/04/13 04:53 PM
1

I think the short (and most obvious) answer is to never stop working on yourself. Be alpha. There is no easy or simple answer to your question, but the more you work on yourself and believe that you are the best man you can be, the more she will believe that you are the best man for her. And, if she honestly thinks that you're the best man for her, she is much less likely to cheat. Also, if the girl in question has a history of cheating, it's a red flag. That is not to suggest that people can't …

From the best LTR game blog on the internet: You cannot stop her from cheating by being overprotective. What you can do is draw a line in the sand and tell both her and yourself that if she chooses to risk your relationship in that way, it’s over. But asking her “who are you going out with?” trying to keep her from hanging out with slutty friends, or butchering her with interrogative questions will never, ever prevent her from cheating. If a girl WANTS to cheat on you, she will find a way to che…

I've been there re: grad school, breakup from hell, "what does it all mean?" etc. It gets better. Sounds hollow I'm sure, but trust me -- it does get better. Approach, approach, approach. Also -- get in better shape. Again, might sound obvious/hollow, but it really does positively impact one's confidence. Especially for intellectuals -- speaking for myself, after my first big breakup I lost a bunch of weight and started running. Getting out of my head in a big way. Did wonders for my game.

Man, "only having sex" can bring happiness? The only person who can make you happy is you. No pussy on the planet can make you happy -- that's your job. You. You are responsible for your own experience. I would also preach caution re: Chateau Heartiste. Don't get me wrong, some of his stuff is brilliant - I'm thinking specifically of the Sixteen Commandments - and has helped me a great deal, but there's a whole lot of misogyny in between. The community that has embraced that blog is incredibly n…

I should also note that I don't want to suggest that "sorting out" depression is a walk in the park. I've gone through some dark periods in my life, for sure. What helped me was exercise, and meditation. I adopted a ketogenic diet, lost a bunch of weight and got into much better shape, which was great for the self-esteem. Meditation has always been a huge help as well (and is EXCELLENT for maintaining equanimity in my interactions with women). I'm not suggesting this will work for you, but at th…

You will have little to no success with women if you don't like yourself. It sounds so obvious, but we all too often forget it: why on Earth would anyone else like us if even we don't like ourselves? Very solid post. It seems to me that your "sincerity" is another man's "mindfulness." As a meditator who is also interested in game, I've noticed an improvement in all of my relations with the opposite sex when I practice mindfulness in my interactions with them. Relevant: stop listening to your iPod all of the time. I don't always abide by this, but taking time to be totally present in whatever you're doing often yields extraordinary results. You can take greater pleasure in the beautiful women…

Wow, this is all rock solid advice. I will just reiterate to NOT overdo it with the complements. She should never expect complements from you, especially regarding her looks. Another thing to keep in mind, and which has helped to guide me in my relationship(s), is to (for the most part) not TELL her that you find her attractive, but actively SHOW her. Aside from being a hell of a lot more fun, you can be more creative and original this way. One more thing: although I definitely demonstrate the f…

DON'T STOP BEING AWESOME. I'll take a moment to clarify. As a man your age in a LTR with a woman I'm really into, I've noticed that the tendency is to become overly invested and, in the process, neglect the aspects of myself that attracted her to me in the first place. This is pretty much standard advice, but don't stop talking to other women, being flirtatious, doing your own thing, going out without her, pursuing your interests independently from her, etc. etc. No matter how much you like her,…

Congrats for staying relatively unphased by your ex getting engaged. After four years together that's pretty intense. Also: methinks it's a shit-test. Deflect or escalate, IMO.
/r/seduction19/01/13 09:07 PM
2

It's not for everyone, but David Deida's "The Way of the Superior Man" has helped me out a ton in terms of maintaining a LTR. Also, tread with caution on this site (lots of misogyny -- often quite a downer), but there is much wisdom to be found here.
/r/seduction08/01/13 12:38 AM

Above all else make sure you RELAX before you take her out. If it's been a while since you've had a date she might smell it on you, and you don't want that. Re: convo. Keep it light and funny. No need to delve into anything too heavy for a first date. Be calm, cool, collected, and "easy" in your self.
/r/seduction19/12/12 06:17 PM

I was speaking to a larger point about text game more generally. In this instance I would definitely initiate contact (go get 'em, OP!).
/r/seduction19/12/12 05:57 AM
1

This is terrific. "YOU: {nothing}" I make it a point to only very rarely initiate textual contact. Roissy's two thirds rule applies here as well. (Give her two texts for every three she sends your way.) Guys who are constantly on their cell phones look preoccupied and insecure.
/r/seduction19/12/12 04:45 AM

Take everything from Chateau Heartiste with a spoonful of salt, but the Sixteen Commandments should form the basis of relationship game, IMHO.
/r/seduction18/12/12 05:45 AM

I'm not sure, I've yet to encounter that in the field. Hopefully some more experienced PUA's will chime in soon. I think I would do something along the lines of (casually, jokingly) calling her out for being flaky/trying to be cool.

I would say almost certainly yes.
/r/seduction14/12/12 06:24 PM

This. So much of this. His Sixteen Commandments, and his series on Relationship Game are terrific, but I too have stopped visiting his blog regularly. After a couple of years of checking it daily, I noticed that Roissy and the majority of his readership had begun to seriously skew my perspective on women and dating. Game seems much less fun and fulfilling through Roissy's eyes.
