Wait Huber and Grosskreuts didn't live in that town and nobody did the "StAtE lInEs" routine with them?

Or to use at a range. The law covers that firearms, and a litany of other weapons such as shurikens and nunchaku are illegal to carry for a minor under 18, but guns are okay for anyone over 16 unless they are a modified shotgun or a short weapon which is easy to conceal. The part of the law that is confusing to many is that it mentions in one section that it is illegal for a minor to carry a weapon if it violates the parameters of a certain other section. That other section clarifies those stipu…

A friend and I were talking about it and he pretty much told me to stop supporting Rittenhouse at all because "he murdered people." I asked him if he watched the video and he said no. For context, this friend is a rabid leftie. This whole event frankly made me examine my biases. People are beyond happy to cover their ears on this matter.

There should have obviously been no rioting. Grosskreutz was concealing a gun, which he did not have a permit to do. He also admitted to faking a surrender. So no. I think Grosskreutz is objectively in the wrong. I think "being where you shouldn't be" is no justification to have people descend in on you. The drone footage also shows that Rosenbaum hid behind an SUV to ambush Rittenhouse while Ziminski threatened Rittenhouse with a gun. My gut tells me he's innocent, but I'm no lawyer and not eve…

I would venture to say cynical writers who prise superficial descriptions of characters are probably the ones, aside from producers, who write characters this way. If you've seen Shang-Chi, Shang-Chi's sister is probably the most recent example of a character written to be "an inspiration" to girls. The movie takes time to really hammer down how amazing she is. She teaches herself Kung fu by just watching the boys train, but she teaches herself better. Once Shang-Chi runs away, she escapes on he…

The only problems with characters having their race or gender swapped is whether their race or gender was integral to their character in the first place or whether the new version is written in that obnoxious, smarmy "inclusive" way where they disparage the old version. It's freedom of speech. Someone has the property and wants to change x characteristic. I just personally don't like woke writing. I'm not sure I could explain it. Basically you see it with female characters a lot, where they are …

I'll try to be good faith here because I think you were actually trying to illuminate me to a point you think I haven't heard thousands of times here. "You are right that it is not all men." Never even brought this up. When you say this, it feels like you are so used to dismissing the idea of men not wanting to be held accountable as a monolith out of hand that you don't even need to see someone say they aren't a bad man before saying "yes not all men but enough men." "You asked why women profil…

I think I understand. I'll admit I'm a bit obtuse sometimes so when I see a word like profiling I associate it with police and what not. It's hard to ask people not to make judgements about others for their safety but I agree that if we are encouraging someone to look out for their safety, it shouldn't be motivated by bigotry. If people told me that "this guy was making me uncomfortable and I just had to get away from them" I would be a lot more sympathetic than if they said "there was a man on …

As soon as I noticed that when a man regards a woman it's objectification but when a woman can be as raunchy as she likes and it's all right, I checked out of this conversation. This idea of objectification and male gaze may be legitimate, but it's noticeable that as the LGBTQ movement became more and more pronounced, it lessened. I think that's because lesbians and bi women regard women in the same light and were tired of being chastised for their sexuality as well.

I admit, as an avid feminist basher, I probably drove away one or two people from this sub. But that AMA is a small sample of how I see the current state of main stream male advocacy. Nobody has the curiosity to look deeper on anything, it's just easier to hold men to task for their own suffering because in their mind men already cause everybody else's suffering. It's good to see you ask questions.

I'd agree. It wasn't good rhetoric. It was during a pseudo argument after all. I still stand by it because this idea of "the world caters to you" may or may not be true but it just seems like a way to guilt me about others' problems.

I had this discussion with somebody once. They told me that men are the default and then told me that they killed themselves far more often than women do because they don't seek therapy. I explained the number of times I attempted to get therapy and how probably many more people like me had trouble like that. If I am "the default" why can't I find therapy? I remember that post now, thanks! Whenever I read trans people's experiences I reflect on myself. I am sort of blind to how my life is made different by the fact that I am a man sometimes. The last time it was jarring to me that I am regarded as a man was when I walked with a female friend and people were happy to say hi to us as a pair. Usually people avoid even looking at me.

Long story short, I was sexually assaulted by my boss' girlfriend at a work Christmas party. I was 17 at the time, she was middle aged. Do you have examples? I don't feel I have anything useful to say for this. Extremists will always be around. But I would argue polarization is media stoked, and the way to fix that is media that does not profit from lying and demonizing. Very fascinating to hear that they treated your character as they would a man. Are you playing in person? Could you share any specific moments? Thanks for writing that out. I understand what you mean, and to clarify, all of those ideas and values tend to fall in the left wing side of the spectrum. I have this hypothesis that the brow beating and woke scolding is primarily a left leaning on left leaning problem. Basically no one on the right either cares enough to express that they are being brow beaten or its not effective on them. So this whole holier than thou, call you sexist/racist/some new ist, is hyper focused on the people that are already on the left leaning side... since they are the only ones who would care enough to be hurt by the accusations in the first place.

Isn't it sooo convenient how she gets to dictate the rules? "If you're offended by this song, you're clearly doing something wrong." This is feminism. It gets to be correct because it's a complex series of Kafka traps disguised as an egalitarian movement. She mentions mansplaining at one point. Then later ironically tells the listener how they should feel about her song, in a condescending, dismissive manner. Okay. Whatever.

Yeah I didn't elucidate on the marketing's underlying message because I didn't feel it was too necessary. The implications are in the pitch that if you aren't a feminist you are clearly a shithead. You're right. That was a balls-sucking thing to do and I'm trying to see it from the "he thinks his friend is a mysoginist and as a woman, his partner deserves to know" but.... yeah it sucks? Kind of sucks when someone you know gets so sucked into politics that your personal relationships start to get dicey.

You definitely don't have to weave links, I'll take them raw, my friend. I appreciate what you're saying about tactful approaches. I am a person who doesn't really compute well when it comes to dissonance so for me that's as simple as it needs to be.

Okay. Never been good at debate so sure. I was convinced by these people's personal stories. When feminists tell me they want equality but I can see prominent ones actively fighting against it, that's what personally got my wheels turning. But if I am unconvincing, all right. I just legitimately thought those stories were pretty simple indications of "but wait.... didn't feminists say they wanted equality?"

I think Erin Pizzey is especially telling because she objectively made life better for everyone, feminists or otherwise, but feminists turned on her specifically because she supported men. She also speaks about the funding and bias within feminist academia. If you point out tbe obvious bias and lies, rhetoric is secondary, isn't it? If you know a person is lying to you, who cares what their thesis is, in my eyes.

Yeah it's tough when you already have to set good will pave the conversation with good faith knowing damn well they probably won't follow suit. I had a conversation like that talking about pink tax. I asked "well can you buy the male version of whatever product? Most of the time I mean?" And they conceded. I got greedy so I asked. "And car insurance. Men are charged much, much more for car insurance. Is that a problem too?" They asked me why that is. "Men tend to drive more, tend to be more risk…

I'll check it out for sure, thank you! I just arrived at the idea of asking questions because... well... it seemed like people preferred to talk about how they feel about things rather than the actual problems themselves. It felt like just asking questions was getting them to do the leg work. I wasn't going to change anyone's mind. I think being a man ensured that. I'm too close to the issue we are talking about. People are sure I have a vested interest (I do.) They trust themselves more than th…

Hope you're well, buddy. The part that surprises me most is that facts just seem to anger people. Confronting people with the facts when they state something that is untrue never seems to work, it gets people defensive. I've stopped even mentioning facts about men's problems and started just asking questions in return. "Why are men the majority of the homeless?" "If the problem with men is toxic masculinity, why do so many criminals come from fatherless homes? Wasn't there less masculinity aroun…

Did you drop the show after this? I don't know the context of the show, haven't seen it. But... Imagine a person without a mother asks you what it's like to have one and then you proceed to flex on them saying you had it better than they did and not feeling privileged while saying it...

I personally support trans people. I love my brother, who transitioned a few years ago. I can't and won't speak for others but any person is welcome in my sphere if they are willing to sit down and speak.

Probably 6 if I remember right. I remember getting into some sort of fight with a girl or something but what I remember more clearly was being told that women were to always be protected and sometimes a woman might lose her temper at you but it was your job as a man to be better than to lose your temper.

Yeah most people don't like being told they are somehow responsible for other people's wrong doings. Men apparently have so much agency that they can control other people's decisions and as such should be responsible for them. It's silly. One thing that really bothers me is the "Real Man" rhetoric. People don't usually frame the virtues of a Real Man (tm) for the benefit of those men themselves. They usually use the Real Man talk to shame you into doing something useful for them. "A Real Man pro…

Abba and Preach are great. When they speak they generally say things I nod my head along to and think "I thought I was alone and crazy for thinking that."

That's absolutely true. I just think the venn diagram of Neoracists and Misandrists is pretty much a circle. You are correct. I will confess to mentioning that academia hates men as a means to keep it relevant, however loosely.

Hey somewhere in there Karen mentions that because of mandatory arrests in the 80s, men's arrests went up 37% and women's went up 447%. I can't find any sources, has anybody come across any?

You can kill a man, but you can't kill an idea.
